I finally found you. I can't comment on how you are doing today, but way back when me biking buddies and I found you little nitch after biking Bear Creek Trail the day prior. I think you were just opening, and or we were the first ones in the door. Loved the atmosphere, and you all were so gracious about our mountain biking stink. Staff was very nice and attentive the coffee was good. But the food was horrible. I ordered the "keep it simple" 2-eggs and home fries with biscuit and gravy I passed on the $3 oj omg. When I got my food I knew I was not going to be impressed, deep fried break your teeth potatoes a biscuit that was more cake then biscuit and a cheap bagged gravy mix. The eggs were cooked ok thus the 2-stars or it would have been a 1-star review. There is not much in Ellijay area for breakfast so I'm trying to find a good one. I guess I'll keep looking. I would save my money and time for a place that cares about how the food tastes. read more

Stopped here for breakfast with a group of friends and I'm glad I did! I ordered the smoked sausage egg bake special and it was amazing. It came with a homemade biscuit that melted in your mouth, as well as sliced tomatoes which were very fresh. The home fries just topped it all off and were cooked perfectly with a little crisp. They have great coffee as well, it was fresh. The place is very small, homey, and it was busy with only two people waiting on tables, but even so, they did a great job and accommodated everyone in the restaurant with good service. I had the simple breakfast, and it wasn't bad. My wife had the pancakes and strawberries, and the strawberries were frozen. This restaurant isn't a bad restaurant, but it wasn't amazing. It was average. They did have good, cheap prices. read more

Stopped into Ellijay to run from the crowds in Blue Ridge over the weekend. Yelped a few locations in Ellijay and opted to try Corner Stone Cafe and wasn't disappointed at all. Small menu with a good variety, very friendly staff (brought crayons out to my 2 year old that was having a 'moment') and my burger was to die for! Not sure what made it so good but I'd go back in a heartbeat. It's small, quaint but friendly and intimate so stop in & give them a try! read more

Food was okay. The servers were not very attentive and seemed frazzled. The atmosphere was great and felt like we were having lunch in someone's home. The burger didn't taste fresh, and portion sizes were small for the price. Enjoyed the sweet tea from a Tupperware cup-- that made it 3 stars. Hopefully you'll have better luck. read more

My wife and I both felt that the Reuben Sandwich we shared was the best we've ever had. That's saying something, because we've tried tons. The corned beef was so tender it practically fell apart. Don't know what else is on the menu, but we'll come back on our next trip through Ellijay to find out. I gave this place a second chance to redeem itself from my family's first visit months ago and unfortunately we will not be visiting again. The decor is welcoming once you walk in but that's where the positive side of this review stops. My friend and I dined this morning for a girls breakfast together and decided to pay cash for breakfast so we did not get charged a service fee for using a card. (There is no sign telling you this but one line hidden on the menu) Our breakfast was $19.12, so we gave the assistant waitress $40 to give to the head waitress which we only saw once when we ordered. We waited 20 minutes thinking she would be back with our change. Finally my friend got tired of waiting and walked up and asked for her change. The waitress surprisingly assumed she had earned a $20 tip from us. She went and gave back $19 in change not even the exact amount. Sadly, even though the food redeemed itself somewhat from my first visit the service was awful. We will not be back. read more

We went to Cornerstone Cafe for a late breakfast on a weekday. There weren't many other customers, but that was understandable as it was a Tuesday between normal meal hours. The service was very friendly and helpful- we were having trouble reading the specials board from across the restaurant and our waitress kindly read hem out for us and answered any questions we had. The food was AWESOME. I had the Ooh-La-La (French toast) with the fruit of the day added (strawberries). It was delicious!! My husband had the Keep it Simple, which consisted of eggs, grits, and biscuits/gravy. He said he enjoyed it very much, and his eggs were cooked to preference. My mom had one of the specials, and she also enjoyed her meal. An added bonus is that the prices are very fair for such delicious food! All in all, the Cornerstone Cafe is a charming restaurant with a tasty menu! read more

I don't normally write reviews but I felt it was necessary. We normally stop here in the fall for breakfast and have always had a good meal. Not sure if they have changed owners but the quality of food has changed. The bacon they carried in the past was delicious, thick smoked bacon. This bacon had very little meat on it and was very thin and tasteless, the gravy was like water and the biscuits crumbled when I took a bite. They seem to have a lot of business.....they are about the only place in town open on Sunday morning but I won't be back. read more

We dined here a while back and were excited to return. I'm not sure if maybe it's under new ownership or management, but our experience this time wasn't so good. The server was sweet, but that's about where it ended. The fruit cups my children ordered had either been in the refrigerator too long, or had gone bad. We couldn't tell. My children also ordered pancakes, which were a little overdone, but not a big deal. My husband ordered the country fried steak, which was mediocre and drowning in gravy. I ordered the "keep it simple." I was so excited to have a good southern biscuit, but was very disappointed when I received a dry and slightly hard biscuit. I have been here several times when cruising around in the mountains with family. Very quaint little homey place. Food has always been great, service is top notch. If you are looking for a "local" joint and want to avoid the franchise places you've been to a thousand times, this is a perfect spot. In fact, after being here several times I now search out local restaurants/cafes/coffee shops when I'm out of town. They are just better in every way. Arrived at 10:30, waited 20 minutes for a table, then waited 10 minutes for coffee and then waited 45 minutes for lackluster diner food. Diner food (I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, and grits) does not take but 5 minutes to prepare and plate so even on a busy day to wait 45 minutes for food in a restaurant that probably only seats 25 people is absolutely insane. We ordered tomato soup and 35 min into our waiting time had to ask if it could be brought out. Soup is already made and sitting in a pot, there's no excuse for that wait. To make it worse, the soup tasted like watered down tomato sauce. My eggs were overcooked, the grits were bland and unseasoned, the sausage was ok. Other people in my party did enjoy their patty melt and turkey supreme sandwiches, but the fries that were served alongside those sandwiches were super small portions (there was like 8 French fries...). The pros of this place - the wait staff, besides their clear time management issues, were pretty good: nice, didn't mess any orders up, and apologized for the wait with a 10% discount. Bottom line though is, there is some good food out there that's worth waiting an hour for-- but this ain't it!! If there's no wait, maybe go in and get a sandwich, but if it looks busy - STAY AWAY. read more

We came across this place while looking for a good breakfast diner. It wasn't very busy... we were the only people in there for a while. It was super quiet, too (you could hear a pin drop). It would've been nice to have a little background music. The waitress was nice and asked if we knew what we wanted to order, but I told her that we needed a few more minutes to decide. She literally walked away and came back after 45 seconds. I felt very rushed, so I just ordered the first thing. I got eggs, biscuits and gravy & grits. My husband ordered eggs & pancakes. I was disappointed in the grits. I am from Florida, so maybe I'm not used to the kind they use? They may have been stone ground? They were really crunchy. I'm used to the smooth type. Also, I heard the cook using the microwave after our order was placed (since it was dead quiet in there). I'm not sure what she was nuking & I don't work in a restaurant, but I guess the sound just threw me off. The pancakes left much to be desired (maybe that's what was re-heated). Biscuits were good & fluffy, but gravy had zero flavor. Overall, we were not impressed. read more

Chef Janie (formerly of The Farm Table Restaurant) is now cooking dinner here and this woman can cook! We visited for the weekend of July 26. The atmosphere is comforting; a cross between french country and Mayberry. The staff are attentive and efficient. The food ---- absolutely amazing! As we were seated, the waitress brought a small bowl of Janie's home-made pickles. It was a mix of cucumber, green tomato, jalapeno and sweet peppers. The appetizer was an apple/onion tart. I never imagined putting those two together, but it was a delicious combination (and I don't like onions). My husband ordered the grilled pork chops tender enough to cut with a fork. Sides were roasted potatoes and a slaw with apples -- Wow! the flavors were delectable. I purposely ate slower so I could take longer to taste each bite. There were no condiments or bread served; they weren't needed. It would be an insult to put anything on the food or to fill up on bread. Following dinner, we enjoyed a fudge brownie with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream, absolutely sinful! We struggled to remember when we had enjoyed a meal this much. My husband said that he is adding this dinner to his bucket list so he can check it off. Thank you Janie! I really enjoyed this place. We went there for breakfast with family twice in a week and both visits rocked. My sister & I had omelets and loved them. Yum! It's real home cooking with as much tweaking as you want. The next time I had this special where the eggs and muffin were wrapped in bacon with cheese like a cup. Scrumptious! Oh and the coffee is top notch. And I know coffee...if I do say so. So I think you should wander in, it's quaint and clean and the service is good. Thumbs up! read more

This is my go-to place for breakfast in Ellijay. We go here at least twice a month because the food is just that good. It is a family owned place and they always make us feel like family. So I have never taken the time to write a review for any business before, but I was very unsatisfied with my experience at the Cornerstone Cafe. When you walk in the atmosphere is awesome, it's very welcoming and relaxing, and our waitress was so great. We just wanted a little bite to eat and some coffee since is was in the afternoon. We ordered one order of chicken and fries, while eating we found out that they charge 3 dollars for sharing food? I have literally never heard of that in my whole life! I had 3 fries from my husbands plate and we got charged ( the chicken basket we ordered was 4.50). So basically we paid for two meals and got one, because I ate a fry. The owner and owner's daughter were seriously watching us like hawks to make sure we weren't sharing, it was the most uncomfortable and weird experience. Definitely the biggest waste of money I've ever spent.You can have your three dollars but we will never be back. read more
