From our first tour with Fred we were impressed. The nursing staff, aides, therapy and dietitian all had my mom's best interests. It was a much longer stay than we anticipated but it is what my mom needed. For all that cared for my mom ...Janiece ( thank you for the extra love and support ......Jennifer, Amy, Paru, Rob, Kendra, Sonisha, Elizabeth and Dee. I know I left someone out The therapy staff pushed her to do her best... Hannah, Ariana and Kent. Thank you for all your creative ideas to help her to advance to rehab. Thank you Sarah for your love and support during the tough times of deciding on the Peg tube. The maintenance staff went above and beyond for our clogged sink thank you Nate and Eric. The food service Anne Marie thank you for finding stuff my mom would want to eat. Zero Stars! My father was a patient at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center and our experience was devastating. I would never recommend this facility to anyone with a critically ill loved one. Throughout his stay, it was extremely difficult to find nurses when we needed them. Alarms on my father's machines would go off for extended periods, and family members often had to leave his room to search for staff. I witnessed the same thing happening with other patients, whose alarms would continue sounding while no one responded. My father was heavily sedated during much of his stay, and I was concerned about the level of attention he was receiving. On his last day there, I repeatedly informed his daytime nurse that he had started bleeding again and asked that a physician be notified immediately. Despite raising my concerns throughout the day, hours passed before I was able to speak with a doctor. After the doctor ordered testing, we received no updates, and my father continued bleeding. When the night nurse came on duty, she mistakenly told me my father had been bleeding every day and had already received blood transfusions. I had to correct her because I had been at the facility every day and knew that information was incorrect. She later realized she had confused my father with another patient. That mistake was extremely concerning because it showed a lack of familiarity with the patients under their care. As my father's condition continued to worsen, I repeatedly asked that he receive additional treatment or be transferred to a hospital. His vital signs were declining while he continued bleeding. He was not transferred until close to midnight. We were told he was being taken to the hospital behind the facility (Ascension), but when we arrived, they had no record of him. After calling Cornerstone, we learned he had instead been taken to St. David's North without anyone informing our family. When we arrived there, we were told he was in critical condition, and his platelet count was only 12,000. My father passed away a few weeks later. While I cannot say with certainty what caused his death, my family believes the care he received during this stay, including our concerns about whether he consistently received important medications such as Promacta, contributed to his decline. At the very least, we left feeling unheard, unsupported, and deeply disappointed by the care he received. There were many other incidents during his short stay that I cannot fit into one review. My family trusted this facility with someone we loved, and we deeply regret that decision. If you are considering Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center for a loved one who requires close medical attention, I encourage you to do thorough research and carefully consider all of your options before making that choice. The Outpatient Wound Care Department has been excellent as they have done more for my wound than any of the wound Care Dr's I've seen since I started seeing a wound Care Dr in CedarPark in fact two different Dr's as im almost completely healed with the Water/ Saline treatment process and kudos to the Nurses who have been helping me to get healed. My husband went to WoundCentrics for some skin tears. When we checked in we were told we would have a $30 copay each visit. Each visit was less than 30 minutes. Months later we received bills from Cornerstone Hospital totaling $13,847. We tried multiple times to get itemized bills but never received those. Quality of care was adequate but be aware the case workers play games to prolong your family member's stay. The reviews here on Yelp may be mixed but I bet Cornerstone's occupancy and billings are doing just fine, thanks to their tactics. Case workers drag out the process with misinformation and shifting requirements, ensuring your loved one stays (and pays) longer than necessary. Round Rock ** YOU DO NOT RECEIVE HYPERBARIC WOUND TREATMENT IF INPATIENT!! Down right scary! No one knows what they are doing! My paraplegic sons been in there 6 months and his pressure wound and surgical wound is worse!!!! .. he's regressed in healing and his wound is seriously infected! Verified by Seton Williamson hospitals wound team when he went for a colostomy surgery. They don't answer the call light! They don't care! Understaffed. They tell you what you want to hear... but it's all lies! I'm scared for my sons life! They use old school paper charting!! Never follow directions! Act like your bothering them if you ask questions! And they never have answers! Uneducated -low end of the spectrum! Looks good but that's it! They already have a strike against them from the state I have discovered! Please search hard for somewhere else!! If you decide on this place you better stay with whoever is in there to make sure things are done correctly!!! Your risking their life!! I'm in the medical field and I'm just in disgust with this entire place. Don't let the looks and the sweet talk fool you!!!!!! I'm actually concerned posting this as my son is still in there. I wish someone would've warned me and I wish I wouldn't have trusted them so much when I went there to tour. TWICE! I have had so many talks with the CEO and CNO and Director of nursing. Nothing changes. (The only thing good I can say is that it's better than a nursing home) I'm not there to make friends.. I'm there to get my son better! At first I really resented being admitted to this facility and gave the staff a hard time. I must admit I was a difficult patient. I wound up spending over a month there. All in all they treated me very well. The food was terrible but I discovered the snack bar at the entrance. Also you were able to Have food catered in. Her nurses & pa were absolutely incredible and amazing however, her case manager beyond disappointing, and liasons less than helpful. My wife has been there for weeks, and I have requested the doctor call me every few days since the day she was admitted, still NOTHING! I was told REPEATEDLY that they would be weening her off the opiate pain meds before releasing her, but I learned today that's not the case... They are planning to release my wife from their care with an opiate addiction and a pocket full of oxycontin. Smart move, Cornerstone! I've never seen worse communication and such a complete disregard for their patients long term health. Please, for the love of God, have my wife's doctor call me or I'll do everything in my power to get my insurance to withhold payment for as long as I can. I don't think you should be paid for putting my wife's life at risk and kicking her to the curb. Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. read more

I took my husband to this place after being told that they do wound care. the first person we saw was the best that we got. They recommended that a purchase an expensive foam pillow, next person said to buy a Roho (also expensive). I spent so much unneeded money. The meds were expensive but he never got any better. They made him ring a bell on next to last visit stating that he was cured. what a lie! I have had calls every week by some of their nurses asking how he is. They ask how he is and I always tell the no better......and they do nothing ! All they were interested in is stringing him along so that they can make money off our insurance. I told them no more calls! Just a horrible experience. read more

Please do not bring your family here! The whole facility is incompetent, from management to most staff. Had I not been there twice my family member would have died while the nurse walked out Of the room and said everything was OK and she would be right back, I watched her life slipping away as my mother yelled down the hall for help! When all this was brought to their attention everyone has covered for each other what they've done. After a short stay about three weeks we pulled her back out of this facility and back to the hospital to save her life. Unfortunately she left in worse condition than when she arrived due to the lack of care! Beware of Physical and verbal abuse from the staff and again it will all be covered up! I would give 0 stars if I could!!!! My mom (66 yrs old) came in with pneumonia and left with a broken neck!!!!! She fell out of bed and cracked her head in the ICU! Where they're supposed to keep 2 eyes on her 24/7!!!! They didn't even have her bed monitor on her bed! And she had fall bracelets and socks and fall risk written everywhere!!! That's after they threw her into complete withdrawals from stopping her pain meds. The ones she's been on for 10 years. Obviously no one had time to even look at her chart! She broke her neck in a car accident 10+ years ago and has been in chronic pain ever since! She was completely sedated for almost 2 weeks, and then woke up to a nightmare! A hole cut in her throat, an unbearable migraine and shaking and puking! She was in so much pain she didn't sleep for 5 days! On the 6th day they (Dr. Adams- who's amazing!) finally admitted she was in withdrawals and gave her some morphine! Her 1st night of sleep in 6 nights and she woke up confused and fell out f bed!!! No alarms went off when her feeding tube ripped out, her bp cuff ripped off, or when all her leads came off. We've had a different nurse every single day and night shift, so I've lost my voice trying to advocate for my mom in hopes they won't try and kill her! We've been here 31 days and they've messed something up or forgot some very vital things every single day, like food and water! My mom just had her first real meal and the cleaning guy, Jimmie came in to mop the floor, walls, and ceiling during that meal. Awesome dude! Thanks! Grrrrrrrreat timing! They wake her up EVERY single time she's about to finally sleep. They forgot to hook her up to her feeding tube last night. The feeding tube through her little tiny nose that they've had to replace twice! She didn't get a bath for 6 days!!!! Nor do they even ask her if she wants or needs to get up to go to the bathroom! I cleaned the poop off her butt that was 4 days old when I saw it when helping her go pee. I could go on, and on, and on! But I'm too exhausted from double checking they're every move. Which the nurse asked me to stop doing (double checking her)the night she fell out of bed! I woke up to the sound of her head smashing into the floor so hard she broke her neck! I'll never forget that sound, and I'm already having nightmares.... And don't think for a second that I don't appreciate these sweet kind people called nurses!!!! They are overworked and understaffed!!! I have brought Starbucks or French bakery pastries almost every morning and night shift!!!! And even wrote a thank you poem on the wall for them!!!! If you have or get a choice, I would highly recommend not bringing your sick loved ones here!!!!! And if you are forced to, plan on getting zero sleep so that you can make sure they don't accidentally kill them... That is all. Until they F up again god forbid. read more

This place has been sending us mail for a person who has never ever lived at our address since 2021 & it continues...i am assuming they are bills...i have called them & they say well without an account number there is nothing they can do but they also agree it is illegal for me to open the statement & give them the info they need...starting 3rd year of receiving mail...i guess they are not capable of locating a patient because they lack the skills to do skip tracing....does not say much for the quality of care you might receive there... read more

Emotions tend to run high when your loved ones are in a place like this. My mom has been here for 2 weeks. All of the nurses have been very kind and respectful. I would expect them to all be on the same page but that doesn't seem to be the case. They use travelling nurses, nothing wrong with that but it is hard to get on the same page when you are only here for a short period of time. A crew that works with each other for a long period of time begin to get in a rythem I have never know of a NFL team of rookies making it to the Superbowl Just my opinion read more

Worst nurses ever! Especially nurse Selena? (She never gave her name)My grandmother was placed her after a surgery gone wrong. She was unable to speak and every time she would press the nurse button they would ask her what she needed over the intercom, instead of coming in the room. Please explain to me how she is supposed to answer when she is unable to speak... The nurses she had would lie about what was going on with her because they couldn't keep track. Some days the doctors didn't even stop by to check. My grandmother had multiple seizures and they acted like it was no big deal. Then they refused her much needed physical therapy because they didn't think it was a good time after feeding her Xanax... obviously her anxiety wasn't high anymore because they gave her medicine and she was calm. Missy, Nita and Leonie are the best and extremely nice but that's about it. If you want quality care for your loved one do not bring them here!!!!!! The nurses and doctors are unreliable. My family have asked for the actual doctors to contact them multiple times and they still haven't received a call. This place should honestly be shut down, before it costs somebody their life!! read more

They took excellent care of my Dad during the three week stay. Wound care was top notch!

Hotel California. Inexperienced staff and shortages on shift. Nurses don't know what supplies they have available to them. Tried to use a plastic laundry bag cut up to waterproof a iv/pic line so the patient could take a shower. Medication incorrectly administered or in untimely manner. Other patient's meds brought into wrong room. The techs are generally the most reliable because the nurses are unavailable. Staff stated they were more used to caring for patients who have been in an accident and who are not mobile. (And have no advocate.) If your loved one goes here, you MUST stay close to 18 hours a day to ensure they receive appropriate doctor ordered treatment and the correct medication in a timely manner. One of the travelling doctors is incompetent at best. Communication is non existent. Before our loved one arrived, this doctor had cut his pain medication by 1/2 without explanation. When challenged, he reinstated the original amount. We had to bring lunch and dinner in for the patient because the food was inedible. After an error that could have had major repercussions, patient was transferred to a regular hospital. Health care professionals know this place is bad news. Other people who have had loved ones at this hoapital in last month or ao confirm nothung has changed. Hotel California indeed. read more

ICU medical staff was competent and attentive. My mother was well taken care of in the ICU. However, the lack of adequate medical care in the high dependency unit was staggering. I would visit with my mother for hours every day so I was able to witness firsthand the lack of adequate medical care she received. My mother was on life support within three days of being moved to the unit and was dead a week later. She was thriving before the move and was going to be transferred in two days to a rehabilitation center and then go home. The inexperienced and dismissive medical staff ignored or weren't aware of (either is a serious concern) the seriousness of her medical condition. When she arrived at the emergency room at another hospital the nurses and doctors indicated that she was not suffering from the condition Cornerstone staff *thought* she was suffering from, but that EVERYTHING ELSE was wrong. She was dying of multiple organ failure due to sepsis and Cornerstone thought she was having a heart attack. My mother knew the CEO professionally through work and she still didn't receive adequate care. Beware! Do not transfer your loved ones to this facility. I firmly believe that if my mother hadn't been transferred to Cornerstone she would still be alive. read more

The facility is new. It is clean and quite beautiful. However, the inexperience and in some cases, lack of dedication, of many of the staff members is evident. My mother-in-law was there for treatment and rehabilitation. Rehab was minimal and the care was inferior. Everyone was kind and friendly. Some of the nurses are very good, but some are not. In some cases we detected not only a lack of experience but also a lack of desire to serve the patient. One of our biggest issues with the facility was communication. I'm not sure they all talk to one another, because the limited information we would get was always mixed and inconsistent. Information was rarely forthcoming without our seeking it out. I'm not sure if Dr. Romaine is in charge, but he should be. He is wonderful about taking all the time you need to talk to him. This facility needs someone to step in and get it organized and running better. Patient care needs to be addressed immediately, as does communication with the family. In our case, the patient was hearing impaired and sometimes confused; so communication with the family was essential. It really was hard to get a straight, consistent story out of any two people. Given more time, this place could possibly be a fine facility; but not until some serious issues are corrected. read more

Each person who came into contact with her exhibited skill, proficiency and compassion in their care of her. This includes everyone from the food service dieticians to the expert wound care section led by Dr. Mckinney and the lead wound care nurse, Patty Hill, who kept me informed of Nancy's condition, whether it was improving or was worsening. The 2nd floor nurses and assistants went out their way to make her comfortable, led by the floor supervisor Melissa. The ICU unit, including nurses Catherine, Tonya, and Vivian never wavered in their efforts to care for her. My husband was admitted to the hospital on November 7, 2018 after a quick visit to the ER which we thought would be a quick in and out visit. Little did we know nor did we expect to have such a scary experience as we didn't think his symptoms would become life threatening. After three surgeries and six days in ICU at Seton Williamson, he was transferred to Cornerstone Hospital in Round Rock. His stay at Cornerstone Hospital in Round Rock lasted 19 days. At first, we were a little nervous as we had no experience with this type of admission. My husband had been through the roughest week of his life. Literally fighting for his life. Before arriving at Cornerstone Hospital in Round Rock, I read the reviews online. I then immediately became even more nervous. I didn't tell my husband what I had read online and because of the fact that getting the referral and awaiting the transfer had been a two day process, I decided to give Cornerstone the benefit of the doubt and I decided to make my own observations. It must be said that I have worked in the medical field (management of medical facilities) for over twenty years, therefore, I felt confident that I would be able to identify any potential discrepancies in the care that my husband would be receiving. When we first arrived at Cornerstone the staff was attentive and everyone there made sure they introduced themselves and asked us if we were comfortable or needed anything. The nurse assigned to my husband was knowledgeable about his medical situation and had definitely read over his chart. She came in to his room and she made sure that she explained each process or procedure that she was about to do. She explained what type of medications were going to be administered and she listened to his questions and responded with excellent communication skills. Furthermore, she asked me if I needed anything and she made sure I had pillows, sheets, blankets, etc. I honestly felt that we had checked in to a bed and breakfast rather than a hospital. As the days went by, every single nurse, CA, nurse practitioner, physician, house supervisor, respiratory staff member, PT staff member, case worker, housekeeping staff and dietary staff greeted us every single day with a smile and the utmost respect and concern for my husband's well being. My husband was cared for with so much compassion, knowledge and patience that I truly felt like he was the only patient on their roster. Excellent customer service is an understatement. The hospital was extremely clean at all times, the food was delicious, therapists that needed to see my husband were so mindful of his time and would come in and ask if he was ready for physical therapy activities and if he was busy receiving wound care or in the middle of receiving IV antibiotics, they would ask if he wanted to hold off an hour or two and if my husband said yes, they would come back at exactly an hour or two as asked to do so. At every shift change, the reporting from one nurse to another was done in a very timely manner. They would both come to his bedside and ask if we had any questions. Our current nurse would introduce us to our new nurse. We experienced care from a large pool of nurses but each one was nicer than the last and just as knowledgeable about my husband's medical condition. We were successfully discharged on 12/03/2018 and my husband's condition thrived more and more each and every day. I truly believe that this was possible because of the care and amazing hospitality that the entire staff from each and every department gave us. I recommend Cornerstone to anyone needing wound care or hospitalization at a long term acute care facility. i'm not positive where some of there people who have left reviews were staying but it couldn't have been at Cornerstone. I spent almost two months there. After i had a very serious wound and infection, i had spent almost 4 weeks in a medically induced coma at another hospital and when i was transferred to Cornerstone it was great. the staff was always friendly and always willing to communicate as much or as little as you thought you could handle at the time. they worked really hard with me to help me to regain not only me strength but my ability to walk, write, dress myself and they made sure that i was understanding everything that was being said to be as my brain was more then a little fuzzy when i first got there. they were so caring and so helpful while still being fully professional. i can't say enough good things about this hospital. i went in there not being able to stand by myself and very scared about what my future was going to be like, when i left there i was still a little scared but i was able to walk again, write again and comprehend what was going on around me. and that's all because of them. read more

WE have experienced , Unprofessionalism, out right disrespectful. There a some of the doctors do not use sterile gloves when suctioning Trachs ( which is against their own standard codes). The doctors my husband I had ,some did not have good bedside manners, and did not communicate well with me or my husband . (NP Carol LEON_ ) Even though she doesn't communication with you on what your love ones wants and needs (which I clearly explained to her what my husband request was) she will take it upon herself to write in your love ones medical chart about you or a family member. I quote "wife's unrealistic expectations and demands" for all to see (very unprofessional ON ALL LEVELS). In some cases,there were some that was friendly, some of the nurses and nurses assist, the case worker. However, MANY of the staff lack dedication , and the inexperience is very real at this facility, too many to list them all. read more
