Tonight 7/23, 4 people in my family had dinner at Cornucopia on 5th. We were really disappointed. Something has changed the burgers had the consistency of meat loaf. I have never had a burger like that. I think it will be a long time before we return if ever. read more

OK, Tappers, (that's what I am going to call those of you who read my reviews) does the rating in a review reflect on the food only or the entire experience? Please respond so I can reflect appropriately. With that being said the two people I asked that question, responded the entire experience so here we go... I hope some one from the establishment reads this because it was a tough review for me. Had the philly cheese steak, it was great. Wife had the tomato soup, loved it, friend had a salad with some veggie substitute for the chicken that was very tasty. That's where the compliments end. The food was pretty good! The service, atmosphere and ambiance were suspect at best. There were 7 of us and they stuck us in a corner where we could not converse with one another, we were all, except 1 on the same side of the table. It seemed they were squeezing people in every corner they could. The waiter was put out, probably because the place was packed and they were putting more people everywhere. He forgot my wife's drink, forgot to order my philly (everyone else on the table was served while I had to wait for my sandy), never came back to check on our drinks, food, water until it was time to deliver the bill, and a table that was seated after us received their food first. Nothing bothers me more than that. Will return to try the food, but hope to be treated better than this visit. read more

I love eating at Cornucopia Bar & Burgers. I go there for breakfast at least once a week. Their bacon and sausage are soooo good. Their fresh fruit is delicious too. I love their hamburgers. The quality of their food is outstanding. I like eating both inside and at their outside tables. I bring my friends and sweetheart with me . They have all loved eating there. Came in to have some drinks and food for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Travis was our server and was more than helpful. We all ordered food and drinks, I had the fish and chips, and it was bomb. My wife seem to like her salad but I'm not much of a salad person, can't do salad and beer so I didn't even bother trying it. It was visually appealing though. We had about 10 people at the table, and Travis did great with service, always brought orders out quickly and kept us informed if something was taking longer than usual. What I was so thankful for was that they had cupcakes lol. It was very last minute, and I wanted my wife to blow out a candle on a cupcake for her birthday. Travis showed me to this peanut butter cupcake (that I didn't get to try) that I knew my wife would love. Score! Travis brought out the lit candle on the cupcake at the end of our meal and sang happy birthday walking up to our table. I'm glad he was outgoing and willing to go along with us. The food was okay, I think the restaurant is way overhyped, I had never been there went with a friend after he spoke so highly of it, The wheelchair access to the building was very shady. I had to go around the corner from the building take an elevator to the basement level of the building to enter the restaurant. read more

Best burgers and sweet potato fries in Eugene plus- smiley, spot on service ! I ordered the Jero burger with Cheddar and bacon . The burger and the bacon were cooked perfectly , my beer was cold...a great spot to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended.! read more

We, "The Royal We" likes both Cornucopias', each has it's own personality. We like the food, the service, Travis at the 5th St., you are da bomb server. The daily specials are always a good choice, plenty of drinks choices with a full service bar. Yeppers, this is a good place to eats. read more

Food at Cornucopia is usually pretty good. The nachos are huge and good for groups of 4+. The philly steak is juicy and delicious. Someplace to take the family. Service is hit or miss. The 5th street location has better service then 17th. Also don't go anytime near when they close service is worst around those times. Have ate at both locations 20+x read more

OK. I read the other reviews and can not comment. Mostly I've only had breakfast at the Corn - usually the Corned Beef with scrambled eggs and marmalade on an English muffin. I did have the Fish and Chips with fries and onion rings... Really stingy on the onion rings. Only three very small ones... But the fish was wonderful so some forgiveness there... read more

Cornucopia has been our family's go-to for weekend breakfasts, and sometimes evenings where we just don't want to cook, and we're always happy we came! Kids menu: The mocktails are the best - they come with a fun garnish in either a chocolate covered marshmallow, or a gummy critter. The rest of the menu: We seriously have never ordered anything we haven't liked. Last weekend my daughter and I took a break from the house to grab lunch - she had sliders and the Frogger mocktail, and I had a reuben, sweet potato fries, and their chipotle ranch. This place was recommended by a staff person at a nearby hotel and it turned out to be great advice. They had a special on Tuesday's for a burger, fries or tater tots and a beer. The burger was a half pound of awesome and tater tots were crisp and hot. They didn't skimp on those either. Great beer as well, so all in all great advice from the hotel. The food has gone way downhill. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it was just frozen junk, but I'm not certain so that's just my own speculation. I sat at the bar to try cocktails once. I'm a bartender and I'm privvy to cocktails/mocktails. These were probably the worst mixed drinks I've ever had in my life. Like a shot of liquor, blindly thrown in with way too many random ingredients. Not sure if it was just the bartender that day but DAMN! Pretty much always have weird service here, too. read more

Always come here for my birthday for breakfast. Lunch and dinner are really good too but my favorite is breakfast. Really big portions and good drinks! If you like eggs Benedict or good biscuits and gravy. Love this place, this is a must try when coming into Eugene. read more

Ok. This is for the vegetarians, or carnivores that care about the vegetarians they eat with. The Vurger is the driest old flavorless thing. Plus there were no condiments on the bun to moisten things up. And, no one came back to the table to ask how our meal was. The stars are for the decent onion rings. read more

Was there a few months ago, terrible place with a horrible atmosphere. It gets pretty cramped in there and people are sliding past each other and its a hazard for food spillage or cause other injuries to the waiters or customers. It was very loud, I was hardly able hear my date, we communicated by napkin. Not to mention, we waited 45+ minutes for our two person order. I honestly think they forgot about us. The waitress brought my boyfriend a coke, took 15 minutes for her to come back to us, and when she did she slipped up our order a few times even though she had written it down (or doodling), and when she left she didn't come back for those 45 hungry minutes. We were both getting pretty tired so we bounced. We won't be going back. read more

My husband and I decided to check out cornucopia today due to a recommendation from a friend. Walking in, I was surprised to find that this restaurant is carpeted, it immediately makes the restaurant feel dated. It is a seat yourself establishment and there are many tables available... Though it takes staff a while to clean them once people leave. The menu is large and it is safe to say there is something for everyone on it. To eat I had the soup special, beer cheese, and a bacon cheese burger. I was less than impressed with the beer cheese soup. It seemed like it was just watered down stale beer with very little cheese flavor at all. I am from the Midwest so have had my fair share of great beer cheese soup... This definitely was not it! The burger was flavored nicely, cooked well, and had a great presentation. However, because they served the lettuce on the top of the burger, by the time I got to the second half of it, my bun was saturated in grease. Eww. It still tasted pretty good though. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. There are a few free parking lots near by which made it easy to find a parking spot. They play music in the background it wasn't too loud and had a nice variety. There are so many restaurants in this area to compete with this restaurant that I am unsure if I will be back. While they had a pretty good burger they just didn't blow me away. read more

Disclaimer for the scathing review that will follow: I have been to this location more than once and have never had stellar service. It's decent at best but I won't be returning to this establishment if I can help it. I also have extensive experience in the service industry and am generally very understanding of mistakes however for this instance, there aren't enough words for my disappointment. So here is what happened. I visited this location on Saturday evening, June 14th, which was Graduation weekend for U of O. I was attending a grad party at the bar next door, however I was hangry & wanted food of substance. There were two other people in my party, one of which was also hangry. We quickly found seats and attempted to flag down our server. Being famished we quickly ordered a round of Blue cheese & bacon burgers, and cokes. NOT A COMPLICATED ORDER. It took roughly a half hour for our lackadaisical server to return to our table with our soft drinks. That was the first sign that things were going to be bad. By that point, my friends and I were starting to get antsy, curious about our food, as burgers shouldn't take a half hour to prepare. Yes, the place was busy, but by no means was it packed. After finally getting our cokes, we anxiously attempted to flag down our server once again, yet we were seemingly ignored....Our table was very close to the server station. This went on for another twenty minutes and by then we had been waiting for our food for almost a hour without a peep from our server. At that point, we threw some cash on the table to cover our drinks and got up and walked out....Disappointed and still hangry. read more

Cornucopia embodies all things Eugene. From it's hubub location over on 295 West 17th Avenue, and then their location on 207 E 5th st, they are slinging up some of the best burgers, and nachos in this little city. You walk into the the E. 5th street location and you're immediately drawn to the kitschy stuff all over the walls. You've got Oregon Ducks flags, and random artwork scattered all over. I've been to this location so many times over the years, and have had everything from their enormous mouth watering nachos, to mozzarella sticks to their juicy thick burgers and I've loved it all. The location is fantastic to the fifth street market, to other breweries, and downtown Eugene in general. Now to me what makes this location special to me, is the staff. Their bartender and servers are some of my favorites in this town. They are just so down to earth, and to me, feel as they really truly care about your dining experience. I mean I'll be honest, this isn't your local fine dining establishment, but they treat you as if your needs are absolutely important to them. And in the end when choosing where to eat, that weighs in mightily. read more

Have been going here regularly off and on since they opened. I'd really like to give this place a good review, it has a great atmosphere and is a really kick-back place to hang out, but I cannot tell a lie. Beer selection average for Eugene, food is OK. The first Vurger (veggie-burger) I had was top notch, they went downhill from there. If you're a regular you might get good service, if not it's a crap shoot. There's one really ditsy waitress that always screws stuff up that we always end up getting. On multiple occasions my wife has ordered a hefeweizen only to receive something else random with a slice of lemon in it. No, dear, just because there's a lemon in it, it doesn't make it a hefe. Seems pretty hard to screw up since it's written right there on the tap for you. About a month ago I came in with my kids for dinner. We sat at a table of our choosing (we're used to seating ourselves, just like the sign at the door says to do). After sitting there for over 5 minutes, the waitress asked us to move because there were more people coming to join the table next to us and they needed to put them together. She moved us into the back. Ten more minutes of waiting (with no service or even a hello up to this point), and another waitress comes up and tells us (doesn't ask, tells) we will have to move to another table to make room for a larger party that came in. They want to move us to a tiny little table right by the front door where the cold air blasts in every time someone enters or leaves. Needless to say we refused and left and won't be coming back. Oh, and that table in the front we originally sat at still hadn't been moved to join the other, as the rest of the party there still hadn't shown up. I'd say terrible service if I'd gotten any to begin with, and the staff was really rude. For whatever reason the place has a pretty loyal customer base, probably carry-over from the restaurant on/around 17th, but this one sucks. read more

This is my favorite pub in town, hands down. They never disappoint. 5th St. is my favorite location because I really like the vibe there. But honestly, it's all about the food. Yum! I appreciate your response to my review. It means a lot when owners take interest in the experience of their patrons. As for what I've had: a vegetarian omelette without cheese or toast on the first try, and vegetarian chili without the hush-puppies, but with tots, on the second. I would have loved to have had one of your tempeh dishes, if the marinade didn't include soy sauce. I understand that you cannot make claims to be a gluten-free restaurant, however, many other establishments are able to prevent cross-contamination--resulting in a dining experience which remains pleasant even after the taste of the food is long gone. And while you may have a disclaimer somewhere on your menu, the term "gluten-responsible" is misleading. It indicates a certain level of safety which is, frankly, missing. Perhaps a "low-gluten" menu would be a bit clearer. Again, I am honored that you responded to my post. We ate here as a family this summer. Thinking it would be an easy, not too expensive option. Boy were we wrong! My 10 yr old daughter ordered a hamburger, dry, with a gluten free bun...no cheese, no nothing but bread and patty, and it was $17 dollars!!!! I get it if it's grass-fed, free range, with all the best toppings, but seriously?!? A DRY BURGER for $17 bucks? We rolled out of there having 3 burgers with fries, 2 side salads, a sprite, and a couple well cocktails and it was over $100 all together! We could have had sushi for price! What an amazing experience!! I'm fairly new to Eugene so every restaurant always has something new and exciting but so far cornucopia tops them all!! First off I want to give endless praise to the preparation and QUALITY of the food, specifically the burgers! My wife had one of the rice bowls and would not stop raving about how good the house made plum sauce was on the organic chicken! Incredible!! She is sooo picky.. Hope she doesn't see this lol. But aside from the food (this is why I am writing this review) we had a very impressive and knowledgable waiter. He was very attentive and thorough even though he was very busy with at least 7 tables to himself! He convinced me to try so many things! Appetizer, margaritas, soup, another appetizer, dinner, and just when i thought we couldn't eat anymore somehow my wife and I had two slices of cheesecake in front of us!!! I can't wait to go back!! I visited this establishment for lunch on a game day with my husband, my 2 8 year old boys and my 36 week pregnant self. We obviously expected a raucous loud and busy atmosphere - the extra time and occasional absent minded mistake is totally normal. This however was NOT... after being seated and waiting about 55-76 minutes for our order to be taken (this was after many requests and no beverages- I believe my hubby may have finally made his way to the bar on the other side of the restaurant and ordered himself a bevvy and brought back some ice water for the kids and I.) our order was simple 4 hamburgers all with tots- only 1 special request for my son - no pickles and me being pregnant I requested my meat be cooked through. That's it. Well 20 minutes later they bring out daddy's mediocre food. Kids and I wait- and wait -and wait 29 minutes later they bring out my burger, with no tots-no fries no side at all. One bite in and it is raw. Like RAW not medium rare, not rare RAW. I requested that they take the burger back and cook it, much to the waitresses dismay she reluctantly agreed. Let me add I hate sending food back to the kitchen I always feel like they will be insulated and spit or piss on it.lol. But short of taking my raw meat home and cooking it which for a 17$ burger seemed especially lame I sent it back. Finally comes the kids food, of course there are pickles, which he was able to pick off but still. Everyone finishes eating and I still don't have my burger. I asked the gal if it was close to being done she rolled her eyes and said she would check. At this point I was done, pregnancy hormones were making me want to cry I requested my meal be out in a box to take home. After I finally received my boxes up meal (with fries I might add) I take one bite....cooked but COLD! Like seriously ?! Wtf. I gently explained to the waitress I was disappointed to not be eating with my family (well none of us ate together) and after her half ass apology she brings the bill. There was absolutely no discount (for countless mess ups and a mediocre meal we didn't even get to share she even charged me for the refill on my iced tea!! Almost $100 for 4 shitty burgers spread out over 2.5 hours. Lame. My husband and I went on a Tuesday afternoon. We sat on the patio. Our server had to clock out (I'm assuming because he was no where to be seen after he brought us our meal ), and was replaced with a friendly gal who brought us our bill and a container . I've had two bad experiences here. The first one, should have been the last one but I made the mistake of going back. Which is weird because I've had better luck at the other Eugene location out on 17th. The first time was when I went with my partner a while back and we had the absolute worst service I've ever had-- I didn't even leave a tip which I've never done before-- I just left a long note on the recipe explaining why I didn't. It took well over an hour to get our food, which isn't the worst, but after we were seated they started warning everyone else it was going to take a while. We had already ordered when we were told the kitchen was backed up and we said okay. The problem was, our server never came back again until our food came out. She never came to check on us, ask if we wanted drinks, or just to apologize again for the 1.5 hour wait for subpar food. Then, we heard her comping people's drinks and giving them free drink coupons for when they came in next. When she brought our ticket, she just placed it on the table and didn't say anything about drinks being comped or anything for our next time in. She just said thanks and walked away. I understand it wasn't her fault it was slow, but she could have made up for it by being friendly and trying to smile or offer us anything at all. The next time I went with friends and our fish sandwich they had as a special was horrible and the food was cold. I don't know why people go here honestly. So many other great options. If you want a burger, go to Marche. Brewery? Go to Manifest or even across the street to Steelhead. read more

Its a shame I can't give a better review here because like other reviewers, yes, the food is amazing....big juicy portions and a decent variety of burgers. Regardless, I'll be getting my food TO GO from now on, I'm done with their tepid service. The last time I went, our party waited for 15 minutes before our server showed up, only to find out that no minors are allowed to eat there after 9, which is fine, I can understand that. However, had we known that when we had been seated we wouldn't have wasted our time sitting there waiting for a glass of water or a menu as one of the members of our party was underage. The real kicker is that by the time we got out of there, it was still before 9. Its too bad because like I said, their food is great. read more

This is a really great place for a burger. I mean REALLY great. They run awesome burger and beer specials daily. It gets a little crowded in the bar area but damn is it de friggen licious! I had an awesome lunch here. I had the turkey burger, which was by far the best one I've ever had. I'm not usually a turkey burger person, I usually just go for beef, but for some reason it was calling my name. I'm glad I ordered it because it was amazing!! My husband had a beef burger which he also said was great. When I offered him a bite of mine he declined by saying he was busy having a "Ron Swanson moment with my burger" fries were also great (with their homemade ranch for dipping) and service was friendly. read more
