Beautiful spot for Sunday lunch. We had soup and sandwich, and sandwich and pasta salad. Everything was freshly made and tasty. Despite a full house, service was timely and we enjoyed a leisurely meal. While there wasn't a high tea offering, we did enjoy a pot of tea that was served with warm honey. We also bought house blended teas to bring home. Speaking of which, wish we had Cornwallis House Tea Company in downtown Columbia - it's the type of place I'd spend time frequently. As it is, I look forward to returning to Winnsboro for shopping and a return visit on a Saturday -- not much else is open on Sunday. read more

So, I'm a bit conflicted about this review. I really wanted to like this place because it's quite beautiful. I had about 45 minutes for lunch so I thought I would give them a try. There 2 employees. One was a woman who was in a conversation with a customer, and an older gentleman. Neither were wearing masks. The gentleman told me I could sit anywhere. There were only a few customers in there (about 5). The gentleman then gave me their menu and said their special tea for today was their Scarborough Grey. I asked him for the tea menu because it looked like they make and sell their own blends. He gave me the tea menu and left me to decide. I was sitting within easy view. The female employee continued to chat with that customer for about 15-20 minutes and meanwhile the man puttered around and got on the computer. Finally the conversation ended and the woman asked if the man had taken everyone's orders. He replied "yes", to which I replied "No". So he finally came over to get my order. I'd now lost 20 minutes waiting, so all I had time for was a cup of tea and a bowl of soup. The soup special was Potato-Bacon-Leek - and that was AMAZING actually. I was dissatisfied with the tea though. The blend is supposed to be Orange Pekoe with Bergamot oil, Blue Mallow blossoms and Fresh Vanilla Bean. I love Earl Grey so I was excited to drink this. He brought a nice sized cup of tea and little bear shaped dispenser of honey. The dispenser was sticky to the touch and had to use my hand sanitizer to get the sticky off my fingers. I only used a half a spoon of honey in my tea. I could not smell or taste any bergamot in the tea and could only get a hint of vanilla. It pretty much tasted like a normal cup of plain orange pekoe to be honest. If I'm ever in the area I will probably try again. We have been several times and never been disappointed. From the she crab soup (which is not to be missed if it is on the soup of the day). To the Dijon ham sandwich, Turkey and Fig on Ciabatta, or the Chicken Salad Croissant. Whatever you try be sure and wash it all down with a fresh glass of Sweet Iced Tea. I got tea bagged at the tea house! This place is great! I felt really patriotic being here especially with the personal service provided by Christina, the owner herself. I loved all the Robert E. Lee memorabilia, too. Gave me the warm and fuzzies. Speaking of the fuzz, this tea room makes a mean tea cake with a surprisingly nail file dead center! Must be their version of a King Cake! Great lunch venue for after church, reasonably priced and well worth the cost. Things tend to come out a bit slow because its prepared fresh. Service is good, about what I would expect from a family run restaurant but they are pleasant and willing to make it exactly the way you order it. The venue is clean well lighted and historic so there's lots to look at while you wait for the food to arrive. All in all, a nice little community eatery that provides good food at a good price. We loved this place the moment we pulled in. We came in just before the noon church crowd and I couldn't have picked a better time since it quickly began to pick up as we were finishing our meal. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I asked our waitress what the smell was and she looked a bit confused so when I said it was intoxicating, we laughed! She gave me a quick run down of the days special , a pot roast, that was marinated and slow cooked with some fresh herbs. We all agreed that was the intoxicating smell (I'm telling you, I wish I had a candle for the way it smelled in there)!! My daughter ordered the house salad and I the Greek salad. We ate every bit of them too. They were delicious and perfectly portioned. I love when restaurants toss the dressing in because it tells me you know your ratios that well. The baguette that came with it was also super fresh and super warm; like fresh out the oven warm! They have a variety of desserts like cheesecake, key lime pie and even macaroons which didn't even make it to the door since my daughter ate the macaroon super fast! Check out was quick. I'm not sure if they bring the bill or if you just walk up but there was a large party beginning to seat next to us so we just got up to make it easier for everyone to move around. My mom brought me here and I fell in love just as she did. I love the ambience, food and tea of course. I always get the turkey avocado wrap with a side Greek salad with their house sweet tea (we usually do half and half) EVERYTHING I've had there has been fresh and delicious. If your interested in hot tea, I would recommend the LiberTea. My mother also buy their house tea by half gallons now! read more

A gem that shines in a small town winnsboro!!! We ventured out from the campsite to see what is around Lake Wateree and found a unique and delightful place. Their home/made pastries are awesome - we had chocolate cream pie and blueberry custard tart. They have an array hot medley of teas see their menu). We were not able to taste hot teas,but had their house iced tea (since er were hot walking around with dog) and their iced tea taste is a refreshingly surprise. Definitely worth venturing out. Will recommend to selected campers. read more

You've located THE BEST luncheon spot EVER... you just don't know it yet! I live in Columbia and my book illustrator lives in Rock Hill, so this is the perfect halfway place to have a business lunch. With everything from soups and salads to quiches and paninis, their menu changes depending on the fresh items available and is sure to delight the most discriminating taste. This is a lovely restaurant/tea room in downtown Winnsboro. The family that runs it has done a lovely job with the decor and the quality of the food. I have enjoyed this place for lunch many times. They have unique specials, delicious soups and sumptuous desserts. The potato salad is my favorite side dish to go with a sandwich. The iced tea is delicious.
