PSA/spoiler: long-winded but wholesome ending My boyfriend and I have eaten here a handful of times previously, and we went in for brunch again yesterday. (side note: for context, we both have years of experience working in the food service industry & are very patient/understanding, sometimes at our own detriment, bc we know how unpredictable working in restaurants can be.) The restaurant was moderately busy, but there were a few open tables. Two ladies were already waiting to be seated at the hostess stand, and although the hostess was physically present, she didn't greet us when we walked in, nor was she talking to the 2 women waiting in front of us. I'm not sure if she was in her own world or having an off day but she didn't acknowledge us at all and avoided speaking to/making eye contact with all of us at the front door for 5-10 minutes. I wasn't sure if she'd already spoken to the ladies beforehand, and maybe that's why she didn't feel the need to say anything to my bf and i but it was insanely awkward, to say the least. However, after she wiped a table down and we were seated, not a big deal by any means. Our waitress got our drinks, took our order, and brought our food out very quickly. Both my bf and I ordered the crab benedict biscuit - his came out perfectly and was delicious! The only issue with mine was that the egg yolk looked like it'd come from a boiled egg and had the consistency of a piece of sidewalk chalk. As someone who usually orders eggs sunny side up or over-easy, my bf and I both knew I was either going to waste the entire meal or have to ask for a new egg (and I hate asking for things bc I feel like it's an inconvenience). We eventually settled on asking for a new egg bc I hadn't eaten anything all day and was pretty hungry. I started looking around the restaurant to see if I could see our waitress. I saw her but she didn't see me and I didn't want to bug her. It was actually the owner/GM Danielle who saw me scanning the restaurant and came over almost immediately asking if I needed something. I explained the minor problem and apologized for being a pain and when I say she couldn't have been more kind, helpful, and absolutely hilarious, I mean it from the bottom of my heart! Danielle ended up getting me a crab benedict biscuit to-go (we had plans & were on a time crunch), talked to the kitchen to see what happened since both mine and my bf's were made together, chatted with us for a bit, and comped our bill. I continued to apologize, thank her for her help, and told her it really wasn't necessary to comp anything bc it wasn't a big deal at all and she'd resolved the issue but she insisted. Needless to say, we will 1000% be going back thanks to Danielle! Loved getting to talk with and meet a genuinely kind-hearted person/new(er) small business owner in Chapin. You rock Danielle For anyone who made it to the end of this dissertation and has the pleasure of meeting/seeing Danielle at Bakon, do yourself a favor and ask her to do an impression of a piece of floppy bacon. We travel long distances just to eat at Bakon after discovering it on a family trip to Lake Murray. Staff is always attentive and kind. The bacon flights are out of this world, especially the bourbon brown sugar. My son tried the eating challenge. Portions are huge. I love choosing a coffee mug and adding what I want to the already delicious sticky bun or southern pecan coffee. Everything is so delicious!!! The restaurant has a vibrant and eclectic atmosphere. We stopped at bakon on our way out of town for brunch with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids. We called ahead and once we got there they told us they don't usually sit tables that large but they never mentioned that on the phone. They were very thrown off but able to make it work after a while. The space was very tight with all the tables / people and a little uncomfortable (not just our table, the whole restaurant). The food itself was decent but the bakon flight was only one piece of bacon if you chose only one flavor. The coffee station was cool but they were out of most and didn't refill but one flavor while we were there. Cute concept and maybe they need more time to figure it out. At one point we went up front to ask for extra silverware and she said "I don't have any up here right now" and didn't try to go find any or anything. read more

This was really good so much bacon omg . But my wife had the flavored bacon and didn't care for it as it seemed like it was baked then dipped into the sauce and put on a plate . They should probably not put sooo much sauce and bake it a little to make it sticky like . read more

Great customer service by Christian! I called with a bunch of questions about 40 minutes before closing & he was very kind and very knowledgeable of the food choices! Just had a hardy breakfast at Bakon. Delicious cheesy omelette. My husband had meat lovers omelette w crunchy cubed home fries. Mom had huge plate-sized pancake w thick sliced, crispy bacon. YUM! A great brunch place does exist in chapin! I got the 2 eggs, bacon and biscuit. It came with grits, but I took them home. My ONLY complaint was that the bacon was thick cut and delicious, but REALLY greasy. I couldn't even soak up the grease with a napkin. The coffee bar is so cute. You get 4 choices and unlimited refills. Just a suggestion to also offer an iced coffee bar! Service was great and the servers are kind and adorable. read more

I got the red bird biscuit I loved the heat on it, I love hot sauce on my chicken. I did think the biscuit was very dry and very greasy to where it just soaked the biscuit. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were very greasy like cooked in oil than butter I could only eat one bite , the grits were amazing just needed some salt. read more

The host never once greeted me and when she saw me immediatelylooked diguisted. She was very rude to me and other customers. I even heard her tell a customer "I can't read lips" instead of saying she didn't hear the customer or could you repeat what said. This host is an older lady with glasses and a wound under her eye. When I asked for a lemonade to go.. She pasted me an empty cup as if she wanted to refill my cup with the little bit of lemonade I had left. I repeated my question, asking for a lemonade to go please with no ice. She brings me back a cup with only ice in it. That this point I can't tell if she's trolling me, prejudice or is just annoyed about me the customer. Service is impeccable, truly southern charm! I ordered the Loaded.....and I would love to meet anyone who can actually finish it......LOL The bacon flight was out of this world with all of the different flavors, it is a must try. The chicken was cooked perfectly with lots of subtle flavors and a crunch on the outside that complemented the sausage gravy and held up to it. Also when you order coffeee it's a self serve bar with coffee mugs you would find at home, with lots of options and syrups. Really enjoyed my visit here. It's in a new shopping plaza in Chapin, SC and is fun, clean and well lit. The staff was very friendly. Caleb was our server and he was super sweet and attentive. The manager also continued to check in and was personable. I think everyone enjoyed their food. The bacon flight was pretty tasty and I like that they switch up the flavors based on the season. I had I believe the praline French toast and it was good and my friend had the pancake praline which she also enjoyed. I think my husband enjoyed hs meal as well. Whew, this restaurant was awesome! Our waitress Caroline was amazing, she has a great personality and was very hospitable she interacted with us perfectly. The food is superb we even thanked the chef, everything was perfectly seasoned and tasted really good and they give large portions you definitely get a lot of food for your money and it was worth every cent. We tried the Mimosa and a few other drinks and they were all great. I was super excited at the great atmosphere and the wonderful staff, Billy was a excellent host. My daughters and I enjoyed breakfast here while visiting my mom. I grew up in Chapin and to see the businesses booming and more choices for the community and for visitors is fantastic! I'm an out-of-towner... but every other place I go to for breakfast when I order a Benedict I get a proportionate serving. I ordered the crab Benedict and can't help but feel duped. I got two biscuits (I expected an English muffin but then again we are in the south)... two poached eggs... AND ONE CRAB CAKE.... Wtf???? So that felt a little bit like robbery the flavor was good and the cook was ok... the poached egg whites were a little runny. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and felt they could have been seasoned better. I also ordered a side of fried green tomatoes... and the flavor was bountiful but didn't seem fitting and the batter fell right off the tomato at first bite. We ordered the Bloody Mary's... my husband opted for the Bakon Bloody which was $5 more and had only a different bloody mix, a piece of bacon (which would have been a side order of $3) and a spicy pepperoni... but they were strong, that was a happy expectation met. The kids meals were good... huge pancake! Overall, I would go again but definitely order something different. I think it's wrong they only have one crab cake for a breakfast item that cost $17... it feels like they're cutting cost by robbing by the customer. They had a large selection of simple to fabulous biscuits, waffles and build your own omelettes. One of the two types of bacon sandwiches that I didn't pick this time will be my choice the next time I come. Eh... We stumbled to this place after finding the Daily Grind was on summer vacay. We were hoping for delicious eggs Benedict, it was too sweet, because the biscuit was cake like and not savory and the bacon was super sugary and the Hollandaise was unfortunately flavorless (seemed packaged/mix), should be lemony & bright, which would help cut the drippy sweetness of this dish. It's too bad because they poached the eggs flawlessly. Our server was awesome, attentive and kind. He was the best part of our experience. Cute modern atmosphere...clean and gives off a vibe of good food. I don't recommend sitting outside... the smell of their garbage dumpster kept wafting towards our table. Very unfortunate. Maybe will give another try... wasn't thrilled with the menu... no choices stood out and the fact they had tater tots as their potato side says it all.... i can make those at home. When i get breakfast potatoes i want fried cubed potatoes or something roasted and savory. I had ranch to dip tots in, again, this is the south... we stand behind our ranch, it's got to be homemade and good.... this was clearly a bottled variety, i was not impressed. My friend had the same dish so hard to tell, she too thought it was too sweet. They have a fun coffee station, with cute hand thrown mugs.... unfortunately the coffee was nothing to rave about. Hands down the best breakfast I've had in ages. Split the bacon flight, and four of us split a bottle of blood orange mimosas (a worthy option). Then breakfast came! No kidding the fried chicken biscuit was the size of a baby's head, and absolutely delicious. Could only eat half. Crab Benedict, Bakon Benedict, and Columbia Hash also got rave reviews. If I could give less than one star for our experience today I would. I will say I've been here before and had a good experience. But today they were busy and service and food quality fell apart. They said they were rolling our cutlery and then we'd be seated (after the 45 minute wait). Salt and pepper was empty. Drinks were good and came quickly but they never brought us more water. When the food came after nearly an hour it was already cold, including the eggs. And we didn't have cutlery and had to wait almost 10 more minutes, by which time everything was cold. When we complained they gave us a really unacceptable discount of 30% off the food with eggs although all the food and gravy and biscuits were cold. Honestly the food should have been free and we should have sent it back. But we were with family and didn't want to make the experience worse than it already was and we were hungry after waiting almost 2 hours. We believe the owner or manager was on site but he never came out. They had the opportunity to at least comp a poor meal and make us feel a little better about our choice to eat at their restaurant but they nit picked a small discount. I'll think twice before I go back and will certainly send all the food back next time you if it's like this. read more
