We were at the hotel last week. It was VERY disappointing. Our room was less than average at best. There was a huge convention at the hotel. We were supposed to get a better room but there was nothing else available. The clocks at the side of the bed in the room didn't even work. They were broken.... Really? The beach water was polluted and there was no swimming. That would have been nice to know. The benches around the resort were soaking wet at 9:00 in the morning. I asked about wiping one down to sit in the beautiful weather but the attendant said he had no towel (in the valet hut) it wasn't his job. He was very busy on his phone!!!!! The food and cocktails were ridiculously priced. Twenty dollars for ice cream for two? Fourteen dollars for a draft beer? I realize it's the Del and things would be more than normal but everything was just average and didn't have the same charm the Del is known for. We will not be returning to the Del. My husband and I have been there many times but the old charm is fading fast. It's just another hotel. read more

First, I would like to thank the staff for the prompt response (front desk and manager). We had a situation in our room which called for reinforcements to clean up an issue that we walked into from the prior guest. It was handled quickly and staff was amicable and stepped up big time for our visit over MLK weekend. Otherwise, the room was clean with accessible appliances and layout was good. The 9am breakfast was delayed by 15 min, not a big issue but was noted as we made plans for the day. The location is in a very good spot with the shopping district and beach nearby. On-site parking is a plus. The gym is a decent size with free weights, treadmill, and cables. Would have given 5 stars but the anomaly of the room and delay in breakfast made it 4 stars. I Would come back again, though, as it seems it was an off day unfortunately. read more

Stayed for 3 nights while we were having work done on our house. On the plus side, it is in a great location, right across from the Hotel Del, near lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping. Rooms have at least a kitchenette, and in the lobby, there's complimentary coffee, tea and newspapers. They even have an aquarium and a live Macaw, which is unusual, but pretty cool. I wasn't a fan of our room (#201), a studio w/ Murphy bed and no balcony, might have enjoyed our stay more if we had a balcony or were in a 1 or 2 bedroom. I checked each day, but none became available. Also, thought the $40 resort fee (although disclosed), was high for just newspaper, coffee, roof top jacuzzi and optional use of the pool at Lowe's, several miles away. Also, had to evacuate the hotel one morning at 6 am when their fire alarm went off due to an overheating heater or something.oh by have been nice if they brought in bagels or something for the inconvenience. So I booked a room with this hotel through Hotels.com. I accidentally booked the wrong date and called them within minutes of the booking and they refused to help me so we contacted hotels.com who claimed they contacted the hotel for 3 days straight and got no response and refused to refund me. If this is the way this business treats their customers, I will never ever stay here nor recommend to anyone. There's zero reason you couldn't issue a refund when I contacted you within minutes of booking and am now out several hundred dollars because you can't be bothered to even respond. Great place to stay in Coronado. Friend owned a time share at this beautiful property across the street from the Hotel del Coronado. Built in 1992 there are 53 units. Centrally located next to just about everything you may want. Hotel is located at intersection of major street which does get busy so you may hear traffic on the street facing units. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. Street noise was not an issue for us. Staff are great here and service is exceptional. Well maintained with lots of amenities such as free use of bicycles, beach chairs and boards, jucuzzi and sauna, game room, fitness center, and social events. They also provide a welcome orientation and breakfast. We had unit 105 on the first of 3 levels. There is at least one free parking space for you in the underground parking. They also have an elevator, and laundry facilities. The two bedroom unit had a master bedroom with a comfortable king. The second bedroom had two twins with a sliding partition. The unit had two bathrooms, one with a jucuzzi bath and both had showers. The living room dining room has a gas fireplace and a queen size hide a bed couch. Two large flat screen TVs and DVD players are in the unit. Very comfortable accomodations. The third level has two gas BBQ and deck chairs to take in the view and was nice to hang out. Across the streets are plenty of shops and restaurants. Coronado beach is located in close proximity a block or two away. The unit has a small kitchen with microwave, cookware, dishes, full size refrigerator, two burner hot plate, and dishwasher. There is no oven. They provide towel and trash service twice a week for the unit and other cleaning is available. Had a very pleasant stay. I stayed here this last weekend and greatly enjoyed my stay. I have stayed at most places in Coronado and this place is my new favorite. The rooms are very nice and well taken care of. The rooftop hot tub and patio area gives you great views of the city and ocean. The staff is very friendly. Erick was awesome and went above and beyond to get us a room that matched our preferences. Pearl was friendly and told us all about Ms. Cody who is the bird who has lived in the lobby for the last 30+ years. They also have a nice aquarium. We took the shuttle they provide to their sister property and the driver (Ernesto) was awesome and had some great recommendations. Even the maintenance guys and housekeepers we came in contact with were welcoming. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking to stay in Coronado. read more

We've been coming here for 15 years annually with never an issue. This year I'm traveling with my son. I was assigned a room with a king and a couch. We would have happily taken two twins (which was available) so kiddo wouldn't have to sleep on the couch. I reasoned that some couple traveling will be assigned the two twins where they would be thrilled to have the king, and the twins actually work out better for us - NOP! No can do. In addition, we were assigned the ONLY room that is directly next to the construction site. Not only is it noisy, but the room fills with cigarette smoke from 8:00 am on as the workers begin. The non-stick skillets are severely scratched and therefore unusable - forget eggs in the morning. We love this resort but there are other excellent choices. Time to start new traditions at an other resort. EDIT: the jack-hammers (!!) and cigarette smoke started at 8:00 am today - literally can't stay in the room at all. read more

Came here as a tourist in July 2019. We didn't book a room. We just toured the grounds and kicked it at the beach. The hotel has so much charm. The shops are nice but expensive! There's a restaurant and bar that lead out to the beach. The atmosphere is chill - I didn't get a chance to eat or drink but I enjoyed the vibe. There were so many people visiting. The beach is nice - waves are not bad. Good enough for boogie boarding. Water equipment rentals are available on the beach along with umbrellas. We scored an abandoned one lol! There's a bar and taco stand near the beach. The line gets super long unfortunately. Another bummer is the lack of public showers to rinse off. I guess that's intentional. This resort is a must see if visiting San Diego. The island itself is like a paradise. We biked from the boardwalk to the hotel. One of the many highlights of our trip. Paying $800+ a night for a Best Western, thanks to unruly under 5 year old next door to our beach cabana. Now, don't get us wrong, we have kids, BUT when forking out $800+ a night, we leave them at home, for us and for those around us. Sadly, not our beach cabana "neighbours," whose 3 and 5 year old dug up the garden, dumped bucket loads of sand next to us, and made a ton of noise. Not quite the wedding anniversary weekend we had hoped for. We called reception, twice. Emailed once. They seem not to care. Don't think any best selling authors would find their Wizard of Oz Nirvana here any more, lkus the sand castles created a ton of squeals and noise. If you're staying here, ask who else is checking in first. I'm sorry, but I didn't pay $800+ a night for crying babies. Been there, done that, this isn't the environment for it. And the hotel needs to understand what guests expect in the beachfront, exclusive part of the resort. read more

This place is a bit "historic" which I mean as a euphemism for old. Cons: - We had a unit next to the street which is LOUD. You can hear people walking and talking all night. Unfortunately the place was booked and they couldn't switch us to the quieter side, which I recommend requesting if you decide to stay here - Again the building is OLD. If you're a light sleeper like me, this place is not for you. I think I could hear everyone around us flushing their toilets and the water running through the pipes after they did. - Because they also run as a time share, they DON'T do daily cleaning!! It's like only once or week on a Tuesday or something. - 2 bedrooms aren't really 2 bedrooms. One "bedroom" is closed with a curtain. - Parrot in the lobby is neat, but very grouchy. They let it outside of the cage even though it is angry and it often growled at our kids. Pros - They offer a free shuttle to Loews Coronado Bay so that you can use the pools there. It's maybe a 10-15 minute ride. The pools are nice there and the poolside food and drinks were really good. No kid pools. - Bathrooms and living room areas and space were all clean. - Walking distance to Hotel Del Coronado and tons of great restaurants. - Complimentary teas and coffees and newspaper in the lobby. - Room came equipped with large fridge, microwave, silverware etc. read more

NEWS FLASH - THEIR "SUITE" IS AN EFFICIENCY-SIZED TIMESHARE WITH A MURPHY BED -------------- Talk about false advertising. We stayed all of 30 minutes before we canceled our reservation and left. For home. In LA. Two hours away. So what happened? On the Expedia website, the room we booked was advertised as a suite, with a queen bed, and a kitchenette. Talk about creative writing. Our first "gotcha" was the mandatory $17 "resort fee" charge. For parking (which was not necessary due to street parking) and for WIFI (which was not used as we have no need). Oh, if you want to use the pool you have to take a shuttle to the Loews Coronado Bay resort 4 miles away. Not gonna use any of the amenities? Still can't waive the fee, sir. Ok... The hallway to the room smelled like various foods people were heating up (poor ventilation), and was papered with 1970's style tiki lounge wallpaper (with dim lighting to match). This can't be good, we thought. The "suite" was a total joke. We walked in and noticed there was no bed, until I moved the coffee table put of the way and realized it was a Murphy bed. And it was lumpy. On top of that, for as sleepy of a town as Coronado is (there are road signs that ask drivers to turn down their music as soon as they enter the island), the room was surprisingly loud due to poor insulation even though it faces Orange Ave. W. T. F. We immediately called the front desk and asked for an exchange, when we were told to "upgrade" to a 1 bedroom, it would be $25 additional charge. O. M. G. W. T. F. We promptly canceled our reservation and decided it was worth driving back to LA that night, rather than sleep in this property. Turns out, this is a timeshare that people bought, and they rent out unused rooms. Aren't there truth in advertising laws for this type of situation?? read more

Amazing ... To be this close to The Del and on the main street of Coronado for the price I paid, I thought there had to be a mistake. Normally when I am in Coronado The Del is where I stay. However, even with an advance purchase rate, the cheapest I could get Hotel Del was $380/night. (Not including their $20/day resort fee or $34/day valet parking) No thanks! Having stayed there many times, the rooms are not great at all and the pool is crowded and sucks. The WiFi is bad and its just not worth the price to stay at The Del anymore because in all honesty the rooms and service are average/below average. The Coronado Resort looked nice on the website and although I was a bit put off by not having daily housekeeping, I booked it at way more than half off what the Del charged. The room I was assigned was a two bedroom suite (even though I just booked a one room suite). I didn't mind the extra space and it was nice having two bathrooms. It had a nice small living room with a breakfast nook/table and a couch which looked into the wall mounted TV and a gas fireplace. The bedroom was nice as well. A bit of a classier 'Residence Inn by Marriott' feel. It felt more like a nice apartment than a hotel room. Nice kitchen area and overall the suite had a very nice flow to it. Parking was easy and 'sort of free'. There is a daily resort fee, which includes parking and WiFi. I think it was $11/day. Not bad considering the Del charges double that for a resort fee and over triple that for parking. They actually waived the resort fee because the roof deck was under construction so the jacuzzi and grill were closed. There's a shuttle that will take guests 8 miles away to a branded hotel where you can use their pool but I was on business and didn't have time for that. They have lots of dining discount offers if you ask at the front desk. I ate my meals at the restaurants at The Del but really wanted to try the Mexican place next door. The location is the star of the show here (runner up would be the great staff) ... You literally cross the street at the crosswalk next to the resort and you are at The Del Coronado. The beach is a 4 minute walk across the street and the relatively safe Orange Street restaurants are on the same street as The Coronado Beach Resort. Everything is right there within a short walk and Coronado is one of the nicest little resort towns I've visited. The downside is that housekeeping is not included, so you will make your own bed, re-use towels and for some inexplicable reason they give you only a bar of soap and no shampoo. (You can ask for shampoo at the front desk) I found it odd that they don't give you more than a small bar of soap. Also, as of 4/15 the top deck is closed due to renovations and who doesn't love a good jacuzzi? I doubt I will ever get the same inexpensive rate as I booked again. If this wasn't a fluke, consider me a regular! Trust me when I say that the rooms and service at the Del are nothing special. Honestly, given the choice between The Coronado Beach Resort and The Del if price wasn't a factor ... I liked the room better at The Coronado Beach Resort than the rooms at The Del the last few times I stayed there! read more

I was so thrilled with our stay that I could barely wait to get home to write a positive review for the Coronado Beach Resort! This past weekend my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. A client of mine is affiliated with the resort and was able to get us a really good rate, so we snapped up the offer since we're on a super tight budget and the chance may never come around again! There was a couple of booking issues (mostly on my client's end - not the resort's fault) but Erick professionally cleared up the issues the day before we arrived. I really appreciated the time he took to resolve my problem, even giving me his personal business phone number in case of any other hurdles. We checked in on Friday evening and were given a pamphlet of information for surrounding restaurants and activities, including a "VIP" discount at certain participating spots. The front desk concierge that evening (Jonathan?) was ultra helpful as well. Our room was BEAUTIFUL - facing the Hotel Del with a bit of ocean view from our balcony. The room was impeccably clean - cleaner than any hotel I've ever experienced - with tasteful decor and comfortable furniture. The bed was super comfy too. There were two flat screen TVs in our unit, a spotless bathroom with a large tub/ shower, tons of towels and complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, etc. The kitchenette was perfect for if we had been staying longer. There was a full size fridge, a mini dishwasher, a sink, pots, pans and a selection of pint and wine glasses... I could seriously live there. The upper deck with the jacuzzi and deck chairs is perfect to watch the sun set. One day during our stay we had a maintenance issue and called down for something, and they arrived at our room in less than 5 minutes. I was floored; talk about great service! The lobby is beautiful with high ceilings and loungy furniture, complete with the 20 year old resident macaw, Cody. I could go on and on but this review is already lengthy enough. We were ecstatic about our stay and didn't want to leave. I can't recommend Coronado Beach Resort enough and would absolutely stay here again in the future! read more

Great beach resort, about a block of east walking (right along a side pathway of the Hotel del Coronado) to the beach. Rooms are spacious and very clean, staff are nice and helpful. Hotel provides beach umbrella, chairs, wagons, sand toys, and almost everything you could possibly need for a beach day - nice not to have to pack it and bring it with us. Only giving it 4 stars because there isn't an on-site pool, hot in only (on the roof which is pretty neat). As a guest here you have free/unlimited access to another resort with 3 luxury pools about a 10-15 min drive down the island which is great but would be nice to have onsite. Will definitely be returning next time we go to Coronado! One thing to note is that the suites have VERY limited counter space so you need to be creative but it is nice not to have to eat out all the time, burners are in the room but not oven read more

Short walk to the beach and near great restaurants. The reason I will be back though, is for the famous Ms. Cody. This is the friendliest parrot you will ever meet. We had a fantastic experience at the Coronado Beach Resort. It really is a primo location, and we were trilled that so much was available to us within walking distance. Located directly across from the Hotel Del Coronado and just a short walk to the beach and a plethora of restaurants and shops - it was nice not having to fight traffic or fight for a parking space. Speaking of parking - this place does not charge for parking, which is a non-trivial benefit when you're staying a week, and most other places charge $25 a day and up for the privilege of using the parking garage. Overall, the place was clean and well maintained. It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't dated and shabby either - we were very comfortable there. The rooms were a good size, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked they were from a cooking perspective. We were a bit skeptical about the hot plate, but it did the job surprisingly well for most of our cooking needs. Plenty of pots/pans/utensils/gadgets. There were also two BBQ's on the deck of the third floor which, and the other guests were courteous when it came to sharing them. Full sized fridge is a godsend when you have a family of six. The laundry room was right across from our room scored big points from this mom of 4 kidlets. We didn't use the fireplace in our room (because of said kidlets) but I thought it was a nice touch. We were there for Christmas, and they had the lobby decked out with a tree and nutcrackers lining the mantle of the cozy fireplace. They host various activities in the lobby, like sand dollar painting and hula lessons, though we didn't get to many of them. We did go to the happy hour, which could have been executed a bit better - the wine was pretty awful, and given how many inexpensive yet decent wine options are out there these days, I expect better. They had put out some cheese/crackers/salami type snacks, but no plates or napkins, which is sort of unsanitary (one woman bellied up to the counter and used it as her personal buffet table - gross). Some minor modifications, and the happy hour could be fun, because the other guests that we met while there were all really nice and I would have enjoyed mingling a bit. Customer service was excellent! There were some mixups with our rooms when we arrived (we would up having to split up between two separate rooms) and it forced us to play musical hotel room a couple of times. Management was extremely apologetic, and they readily compensated us for the error and inconvenience. They were very responsive to our requests, including on Christmas Day when there was a mishap with the door to our room. Staff was friendly to our kids and made a point of engaging in conversation with them when we were in the lobby. Pricing was reasonable as well. We would definitely stay here again. read more

It is really rare for me to put a 1 star review on a small business. If you are renting their units through their online booking system, they use a partner called Resort Time. Unlike a normal hotel or even timeshares that we stayed at, as a guest who is not an owner, you ultimately have no say in which unit you get. Not only that, you have no say if the owner decides to boot you out, forcing you to change units over a weekend. We booked Easter weekend for two nights thinking we had two nights in a row in the same unit (typical expectations for a hotel or standard timeshare). Well, the "resort" said the owner would be coming to the unit and they had no other spaces left that night. So we had to stay in one unit, pack in one night and then move to another unit. Usually I would actually less annoyed if it were just me. But I had my family with two kids and a lot of food that we purchased to cook. With very little vacation time, the last thing you want to do is to be told to unpack, repack and unpack (many bags and food items) again all within 48 hours. Front desk manager Erick Cajigal said he would call Resort Time to give me a credit since this was highly disruptive and unexpected. He never followed up on this, and didn't get a credit of any sort to this very day. I highly recommend avoiding booking this place. It is not worth the hassle. Do not stay here. read more

What does this place have that the Del doesn't? Nothing! No over priced restaurants; no constant stream of traffic in the halls 24 hours a day; no uneven floors; no cramped rooms. The Coronado Beach Resort is really a time share condominium with some units going as nightly rentals when the owners are not onsite. Because they are condos first the rooms are large. My one bedroom suite was just that - one bedroom w/ TV (although only closed off by a curtain), one living/dining area also w/ TV (mine had a fireplace), and entry area with small kitchenette (full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, hot plate, no stove) and a bathroom that had a separate water closet from the sink and shower. As of the date of my stay everything was in a recently remodeled condition. Seriously, what they don't have - no soap, shampoo and lotion; no daily maid service; no daily refresh of your coffee; no ocean views (probably 75% of the rooms at the Del don't either). Remember, these are time shares not a hotel and the level of service amenities is a bit different. Set your expectations accordingly. read more

I would give this place 10 stars, if I could! If you are looking for a family frendly, perfectly located and customer-centric vacation place, you have arrived. We do not own a time-share but with 3 kids ranging from 2 to 8 in age, time share renals have become our go-to vacation preference and we are never disappointed. Yes, the hotel is old but that to us is part of its attraction. It is tastefully updated and offers all kinds of amenities, both en-suite and at the hotel. The reception staff is as kind and helpful as they come! We arrived at 11 am and even though check-in was not until 4 pm, they let us check in immediately and were able to upgrade us to a 2-bedroom suite at our request! Special shoutout to Michael and Jazel for that amazing checkin. Crib for the toddler was immediately brought to the room. The game room, beach equipment and Ms Cody, the talking macaw in the lobby were the kids' favorites! The unit had 2 full baths but please note, the secondary bedroom has no windows and closes with just a curtain. After we returned home, Liane contacted us to let us know housekeeping had found a nightlight we had in the kids' room. Talk about customer service! Their rooms are just big enough and if you have guests (which my husband and I were) they have extra, private bathrooms with showers down in their gym. The staff was great as was the location. The property is a little dated but comfortable and clean. Biggest complaint was that the room we stayed in was directly underneath the rooftop deck and as a result was VERY noisy. The deck is open until 10pm at night and from 8-10pm all we heard was the sound of kids running back and forth on a loop. Since we were up every morning early to hit the beach and various other activities it was frustrating to not be able to enjoy at quiet room in the evening. I enjoyed our stay at Coronado Beach Resort very much and would definitely stay here again. In fact, I kept telling my husband (while we were still there) I can't wait to come back! When I booked our room I was required to pay at booking and there was an additional resort fee required. However, there was no additional parking fee once I got to the resort. We had no problem finding parking. Check in is a little late at 4pm. We arrived a little before 3pm and we weren't able to access our room, but we were able to check-in and complete paper work. We then went for a late lunch and received a text shortly thereafter that our room was ready. I did notice around 4 there were a few people line checking in. I was glad we were able to beat the rush. This Resort is a Timeshare. However, I was never approached about becoming an owner. It was also well kept. Everything was very clean and I saw no maintenance issues. It's 1 street away from the beach - an easy walk. The Room: We stayed in the 1 bedroom. We had a kitchenette, a living room, dinning room, and a bedroom that could be separated from the rest of the space with a heavy curtain. The heavy curtain was awesome. It made the room very dark. This room is perfect for couples or couples with children. The room would be awkward for 4 adults. As one couple would be sleeping on the couch in the living room. I found the linens to be very nice and comfortable. The Resort hallways and rooms were very quiet. The do have quiet hours. There was some noise during check-in hours and in the morning, but this is somewhat expected. We were in room 114 on the 1st floor and our window faced another building/the parking deck entrance. This didn't bother me. I was able to pop my head in a room that faces the road and could hear traffic noise. Nice Touches: The Resort has a gym, laundry facility (on the 1st and 3rd floors), offers cookies and other freebies, like margaritas, chips and salsa, free coffee, and small breakfast items. There is also a rooftop area with grills and a hot tub. Also, this resort is associated with Loews Coronado Bay Resort, which is down the road a little, but directly on the water. I had read that you could go to Loews and use their facilities and I believe they may even have a shuttle to the Loews. We did not go to Loews due to limited time. Bottom line: I was extremely happy with the Resort and would definitely stay here again! read more

My family has vacationed in Coronado for at least 10 years, and we will never stay anywhere else but here! Their rooms are all beautiful, complete with kitchen and fireplace. If you're lucky enough, get a room with a view of the Hotel Del and the ocean, but even if you aren't the other side of the hotel has a great view of downtown San Diego. The staff is always very friendly, especially the receptionist Erick. Every morning they serve complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby, and during some afternoons they serve fresh popcorn. The lobby has internet access, but guests also have free access in their rooms. The 2nd floor has a nice lounge with tv and pool table, plus a great view of the ocean. The 3rd floor has a jacuzzi and grill. Hotel guests are also given access to the swimming pools at Lowe's Resort (about 10 minutes away) since the hotel doesn't have a big pool. Parking is free both at Lowe's and at CBR for hotel guests. You can borrow beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, and body boards free of charge. The best part about this place is that it's walking distance (literally 5 minutes away) from the beach, the Del, and the rest of downtown Coronado. They also have a pretty small but legitimate gym. The only trade off is that if you request a room with a balcony, you'll have a small living room, and vice versa. This is definitely the BEST resort in Coronado! read more

We booked room for my in laws here for an anniversary trip. We talked to them 3 times prior about having something in the room at check in for them to celebrate and were told it would be no problem but sadly at check in we noticed it was overlooked. My husband called the next morning to let them know we were less than satisfied by this and they went out of there way the next night they had flowers chocolate and wine. While this could have been a bad review because of the initial check in overlooking the request the management made sure to go above and beyond to make the trip special! Staff was attentive. Location is fantastic. Rooms were clean, upgraded and had everything you could need. We stayed a week and enjoyed our stay. They had beach equipment you could borrow wagons for your beach things. We were not so happy about the resort fee suddenly increasing one week before our arrival and having to pay the $20/night instead of $17/night rate. I thought the rate at booking should have been honored. I was also not impressed by the way they provided information. I did not want to attend a meeting on the second day at 9 AM to get the information for the week. I wish they would have provided instructions and information at check in that I could read on my own time. I also think that the front desk manager should be there the one day a week they do turnover (Sunday) as he is the only person (according to the front desk) who can approve room upgrade/change requests. Again, why the next day after we have already settled into a room and slept one night. Who would want to move rooms at that point? We are on vacation. read more
