Crown Bistro yummy breakfast - excellent service and ambiance.

A couple of ladies traveling. Crown City Inn is a wonderful and safe place to enjoy Coronado Island. Rooms were spotless, beds were comfy, staff was very friendly, food at the bistro was excellent, the provided bicycles, beach chairs and beach towels were a huge treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay. The bike trail around the island was super nice. We didn't have a car and didn't need one. The bikes were perfect transportation. We even squeezed in some pickleball locally. We will be back soon !

Dog-friendly room!

So cute, clean, and friendly staff! My husband and I stayed for a couple of nights with our doggie (his first vacation!) and we loved it! Great location! One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever seen! The lovely lady at the front desk gave us a cute little goody bag for our doggie with treats, a ball, and extra poopy bags. Inside the room, there was a mat with a water/food bowl combo for our pup. The fridge and microwave were perfect for our snacks and leftovers. The bathroom had a really nice shower! We didn't have a chance to try the bistro, but we will next time! We would love to stay again, and definitely recommend!

My husband and I had 2 very pleasant stays in this little place, 3 years ago and this 5th of july. Rooms were cute, clean & comfy. Service was great, too! Thank you Marsha and Keith for being accomodating. We like the fact that they rent free bikes. We'd definitely recommend this spot or come back again

Very difficult to pull in and park. We suggest park on the street

Efficient use of space for these small rooms. Clean, comfortable beds, good air conditioning and tv. The thing I appreciated most was their oversized wastebaskets in rooms. No one does that and it's so annoying. The location was great. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of parking. The best thing to do is park on street.

Quaint, cozy, and clean! We will definitely stay here again. We had breakfast in the restaurant each day and it was perfect.

The Bistro attached to the hotel has THE BEST breakfast on the island / other than the Del but that is pricey.

Absolutely Wonderful Anniversary Getaway at the Hotel del Coronado…read more My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a beautiful weekend stay at the iconic Hotel del Coronado in a King Room with an Oceanview Balcony. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special. The two young ladies who checked us in were an absolute delight. They looked like sisters but are actually best friends, and their genuine warmth and kindness made the start of our stay so memorable. The concierge was equally fantastic, ensuring our bags were delivered quickly and that we were comfortably settled in our room. The property itself is breathtaking...! The meticulously maintained gardens and stunning California coastal location provided the perfect romantic setting. We enjoyed outstanding fine dining experiences at both Nobu del Coronado and Seréa. What truly touched us was returning to our room to find a thoughtful happy anniversary card and a small box of delicious chocolates from the front desk team. It was such a sweet and personal touch. We were genuinely sad to leave and will absolutely be returning. Thank you to the entire team at the Hotel del Coronado for making our anniversary weekend so special!

Three stars on Yelp--that's about right. We treated ourselves to one night at The Del as a special…read moretreat, and we can honestly say that it wasn't worth it because the vast majority of what you experience at the hotel is also widely available to the public--so you better love crowds. We booked the most inexpensive room (at almost $800/night), which means that we were relegated to the euphemistically-named "The Views," which is the back building with ZERO "views," and is essentially like one step up from a glorified Holiday Inn. The room is beyond basic, the bathroom is tiny, and they don't even give you little extras to make it feel somewhat special. Maybe if we had gone for the almost $2,000 a night room we would have felt like we arrived, but not in the slums of "The Views." Even as a guest, you get no discounted rate for the activities the hotel offers, like the tour and the movie night on the beach. Of the 90- minute tour, only 20-30 minutes were in the actual hotel itself. Our guide was very sweet and knowledgable, but it was way too long, and they probably only have it that long to justify the cost. The movie night on the beach was another overpriced scam, where you are on chairs surrounded by fire pits (we chose not to upgrade to the $400 "s'mores option"), so you leave smelling like burnt ends. At least our daughter had a good time. Basically, the only "exclusive" thing we did was take our daughter to the pool, which did not even have a lifeguard!!! Which is outrageous. We had the pleasure of ordering a $23 cocktail and $14 beer there though. So, all in all, stay in a "regular" hotel and then just come and enjoy The Del like the rest of the swarming packs of people that are equally welcome to descend on the property. Do not eat here! The food is overpriced and terrible (see our previous review for Serea). Listen, they did a great job with the restoration, and this place is an institution, but you don't need to shell out thousands of dollars to "enjoy" it.

You pay for the location and that is about it. The main lobby was super cute. We were very excited to stay here. But it took a turn when we were shown our room. The smell was so bad you could smell it a few feet outside of our door. We would wake up in the middle of the night because the smell woke us up. It smelled like mildew & mold so bad, on top of cigarettes and hospice. I went to call to ask for a new room and our phone didn't work. I moved the side bedroom table to see if it was plugged in and it was so dirty with bugs and lint balls. I didn't touch the phone again. I called from my cell phone to see about changing our room. She told me I could come the next day and take a look at other rooms that were available, but we were only there for one more night and we had plans with friends that day. The carpet is disgusting. The couch is so dirty. There were brown stains on the sheets of our bed. Every time the cleaning crew would come in, they would open every single window to the fullest to mask the smell. There's not a restaurant here so you have to go get your food and bring it in. There were dead bugs in the utensil drawers. So we used plastic utensils, and paper plates our whole trip. Our room looked nothing like the lobby. A motel 8 would've been better. Even the pool is sad. We were going to cancel our stay and book somewhere else, but we booked through Expedia and it's a nightmare trying to get a refund through them. Otherwise, we would've left after the first day. When leaving a manager pulled me aside and said he was going to comp one day resort fee for us because of the smell. He didn't have to do that, but it was nice of him. We will never be back unless they do a serious update. So sad because the location is killer!

They asked us to drive and stay here with them here at the Best Western Plus. I tried to convince them to go to a more upscale hotel, but they were determined to stay here, as they have been doing for years. My dad is a retired officer in the military, and he loves to be close to the base. However, while the pictures on this Best Western site look decent, they don't reflect what the rooms are actually like. Our room was cramped, gloomy and dated and gave me claustrophobia. The sheets and towels were like sandpaper, and the room is shabby and dirty-looking. The only small window looked out into a dirty alley. This was the most depressing room ever! In order to open the bathroom (which was disgusting) you had to make sure the closet door was closed. Carpet was dingy and the bedding was cheap and scratchy. The blanket was 100 years old and the bedspread was like an old shower curtain. There was ZERO natural light and the room stunk of musty, damp air from a loud swamp cooler. The ice machine close to our room was loud and people used it all night. The amenities were non-existent (not even bottles of water, so bring your own). The faucet handles barely worked in the bathroom sink, and there was no hot water. The WiFi is terrible and there are no modern charging ports to use. Housekeeping doesn't replace the linens or even come in to make the bed like a normal resort, unless you request it. What's the point of going away to relax if you have to clean your own room??
