Unfortunately over the holiday weekend (the 4th) not a lot of support (that was expected) but also just returned from the trip with a ton of bug bed bites all over both legs and arms. Like a LOT. We had a fabulous stay in Coronado because of the Cherekee Lodge. The room was large and very clean. Plenty of sanitizer throughout the building. The place was quiet with lively serenity retreats throughout to enjoy the garden and flowers. Parking seemed like itvwould be hard but spots kept opening up as we walked the area. Three boocks from the beach, one block from Orange street. I had the most increfible Korean Skirt Steak at Henry's, recommended by our hostess. A 20 min walk to Hotel Del Coronado. I don't normally make complaints of places I've been to, even if they are cheap. The room was nice and in a quiet area and convenient for us . But customer service was poor. Mostly because of a lady named , Erin or Eryn idk how to spell her name. I spoke to her twice and she doesn't have great communication skills. Her tone of voice seems like she was unhappy and rude. No enthusiasm or care in her voice. I did speak with one hispanic lady, cannot remember her name but she did help me with getting a military discount. So Erin/Eryn tried to run my card 5x with different amounts. She said she only ran it once although that is not true. I asked if they could change our sheets/blankets in our room because my husband and I were itching from one night sleeping there. We came back to the room and all they did was make the bed with the same sheets/blankets. My husband used to work in a hotel as a house man, and he could tell the sheets/blankets weren't changed. And I could tell because the floor was so dusty, that even if I cleaned my feet it left a mark on the sheets/blankets and when we came back to it the mark was still there. I just feel if people aren't happy with their jobs, then they shouldn't work in this type of industry dealing with people. They first said "I didn't tell them I was bringing dogs", which is false because why would I rent a room that is dog friendly. They only have like 4 rooms which are dog friendly .Also, every time I called it would go to an answering service and someone else would answer or hang up and tell me that they would send the message over to the front desk and someone would call me back which they never did. That was my first issue with them, that they never answered their phones. I called multiple times and I did tell them Im bringing my dogs. This would have been a 5 star for me if customer service was better. Because Coronado is a nice place. And again, I don't normally complain but this was bad service. Especially with not changing the sheets/blankets. read more

This was a lovely place to stay! It was located in a beautiful part of Coronado; near to the beach and the shops. The walkability of the neighborhood is easy and relaxing. The room I stayed in was clean and had a cozy Queen size bed and had a bathroom with full tub I took advantage of with a hot bath. It was complete with all the necessities I needed down to the coffee machine, small breakfast in their basket tray, and water in the small fridge provided. I got the rest I needed (quiet neighborhood) and enjoyed my stay. The two ladies who checked me in were accommodating, very friendly and answered all my questions. They let me know they had a laundry room free of charge and a lounge area downstairs. I wish I had stayed longer! I definitely recommend this place and hope to book here again. read more

My family loves the Cherokee lodge. It is in beautiful downtown Coronado just one street off Orange ave. where all the action in Coronado is. Cherokee Lodge is easy walking distance from the beach, resturaunts and shops. The lodge is large and private. The furnishings and setting is antique and authentic. Staying here we feel like we have our own little home on Coronado thats been passed down from generations past. The staff here has always been more than friendly and helpful. Their check in proceedure is great and allows us to get in at anytime of the night convenient for us. So happy to have discovered this cozy retreat! I found the price much more affordable than many nearby AirBnB properties. My room was small but beautiful (#10), bathroom quite functional, bed super comfy. I really enjoyed all the outdoor spots to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or whatever. One block to Von's, 2 short blocks to the bus stop, and a very pleasant stroll to the central beach. Everything was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. This is a real gem in Crown City! read more

My sister in law and I meet in Coronado every year. We have stayed at many places and now consider the Cherokee Lodge our favorite of them all. We stayed in the room on the back of the house and loved it! That room has twin beds, its own private entrance, and a beautifully landscaped patio of its own. The room is not really connected to the rest of the house so it is extremely quiet, as is the whole neighborhood. We felt very safe. This bed and breakfast provides a simple breakfast basket each day and will try to meet any requests you have. The room has a refrigerator but not a microwave. However, we could go into the breakfast room in the house for a microwave or toaster. The only thing I wish the room had was a bathtub. The shower was nice but I'm one of those people who likes to soak after a busy day in beautiful Coronado. This was the first time we came in January and we will not to come in January again because parking at the lodge and all over town was impossible. Way too many people in January. We were there during one of their very few cold snaps and had a hard time figuring out the heat system in the room. Would have been nice to have written directions as there are no managers in residence. The employees came each morning and were extremely friendly and helpful! We will definitely stay at The Cherokee Lodge again! read more

My husband and I stayed here two nights before our wedding at the Del. I was hoping for a charming, personal, bed and breakfast experience, that was somewhat intimate. I was also looking forward to maybe a nice breakfast. The room was clean. That's about all I can say. The rooms themselves are very small, which didn't bother me all that much. I was looking forward to saying in an old historic house. However, the bed was so tiny, it was highly uncomfortable trying to fit two people in it. It was maybe a full sized bed, but seemed slightly smaller than that. When I booked the reservation, I booked the room for two people, so I am not sure why we were given a room with such a small bed. Checking in was sort of a weird experience. We got there around 4:30 pm, and the office was closed for the day. Luckily I had called in to confirm my reservation on the way, and was told that they were going to leave our key in a lock box around the side of the building. If I hadn't of called in...I'm not sure if a key would have actually been available. I don't think arriving to check into a place at 4:30 is all that unreasonable. But the real disappointment for me was the breakfast. In our check in packet, we had vouchers for breakfast, advertising breakfast sandwiches, coffee, souffles, fruit, etc. I was really excited. But when we got up in the morning, breakfast was nowhere to be found. Upon closer inspection of my voucher, I quickly learned that the breakfast part of the "b" was a voucher for Panera Bread. Not to be snooty, but we really do our best to avoid chain restaurants. I certainly didn't go to Coronado Island to eat in a chain I could go to anywhere in the country. Total disappointment. Finally, I barely saw the lodge owners while we were there. This wasn't a huge deal- I don't go to hotels to hang out with the staff- but like I said, when I think of a bed and breakfast, I think a homey kind of experience. This was really more of a hotel with crappier accommodations. It lacked any of the warmth and hospitality that would have made up for the tiny room, bed and bathroom. Overall there isn't any reason to stay here. If you are looking for a bargain, the Coronado Inn is cheaper, actually has nice sized rooms, and ironically enough, has a nice continental breakfast. If money isn't a worry, there are dozens of beautiful hotels all over the island. Stay elsewhere. read more

I love the history behind this bed and breakfast. Three houses were shipped over from the mainland on a barge and combined to form the Cherokee Lodge--named after the Cherokee roses that grew in the front yard in the late 19th century. At some point, my Grandfather owned the lodge, but it was sold before I was born. It is really something to stay in a place that your father grew up in and talked about warmly. I always feel very welcome and like I'm at home when I stay the lodge. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed with modern linens and antique furniture. The front porch and the gardens are breath-taking. I also love that it is a block away from all the action on Orange Avenue. Truly a gem. I will return again and again. read more

My wife and I bought a two night stay in the Cherokee Lodge at a charity auction a few months back and were excited about taking a much needed day trip to this seemingly charming B&B in one of our favorite places, Coronado! Then we arrived.... Hmmm.... Where do I begin? Our room was supposed to be one of the "nicer" rooms, with a king sized bed and it's own bathroom. I would hate to see one of their average rooms. Upon entering the "king deluxe," the first thing that hit us was a musty smell. We quickly opened a window, hoping to air it out. It did not go away. The room itself was clean, but was crammed with more furniture than a salvation Army. A loud mini fridge that looked like it was purchased at a yard sale sat upon the dresser drawers, and resting on it was a 1980's era 14" mini television just waiting to be squinted at. Then I sat on what could be quite possibly the hardest bed I've ever had the displeasure compressing my spine on. My wife, being the trooper that she is, tried to stay positive and decided to take a shower. That idea went out the window when she saw the towels. Actually, I think they were towels at one point, perhaps back in the 70's, but now they were more like cheesecloth. Even my grandmother doesn't keep towels that long. Everything about this room screamed OLD. Not charming. Not vintage. Just old. After some blank stares, we both decided to cut our losses and check in to another hotel. We forfeited our several hundred dollar certificate gladly, considering it an expensive lesson in the perils of charity auctions. The people there are nice enough, but shame on them for running such a charmless, dingy place. Buy new towels at least! The owner seemed more interested with his internet phone system that allowed you to call long distance anywhere in the country for free (cell phone anyone?) than maintaining his B&B. Oh yeah, one more thing. At this Bed and Breakfast, there is no breakfast, only a five dollar voucher to eat at some diner several blocks away. That may actually be a blessing because it at least gives you an excuse to leave the disappointing mess that is - The Cherokee Lodge. read more

What a wonderful place. I really have nothing bad to say about it. Clean, comfortable, very pleasant staff. Very convenient location to shops and beach. It was, in short, lovely. The only complaints I have are almost not worth mentioning, but I guess some people might care. Our room had a very awkwardly placed TV and it was very small. I had a chance to peek inside a couple other rooms and they were better about this. Our room was the only one with a bathroom not connected to the room (private hallway bath), so, not sure if the "economy class" room is the only one downgraded to such a tiny screen, but honestly, who cares (unless you do, and then....well, pay a little more I guess). Overall I was incredibly impressed and would easily return again. Oh, and our room was huge, so maybe the tiny TV screen was dwarfed by comparison??!! read more

I went there two summers ago with a couple friends. Cherokee Lodge is a house with several rooms converted for guest use. Its located in a small neighborhood on Coronado island. It is run by a nice couple. The room we stayed in had a king-sized bed, its own bathroom, and a small fridge. The place was quiet and the only other people we saw there were older folks. They offered a discount for Beach n Diners at the next block, which worked out great for a slightly cheaper breakfast. read more

My husband surprised me wtih a stay at the Cherokee Lodge this past weekend while we were in San Diego for the game. I was pleasantly surprised. The house was adorable and the staff seemed to have thought of everything. I have to mention how quite the house was too. I think almost every room was full and we felt like we were the only ones staying there. Great accomidations and service. They give you a voucher for Panera for Breakfast, which I thought was innovative. It was nice walking over to Panera and getting 2 breakfasts that we wanted covered. Our wedding happened a month ago and I still vividly remember how nice and understanding Blanca is. We booked the room thru Hotel.com(which was not a good idea). We got to the lodge at almost 11 PM because we had a rehearsal dinner that night. We came there and there's only one envelope left at the entrance. Came to know it wasn't under our name so we contacted the on-call duty that night..it was Blanca. She came rushing and did more research of the situation and found out that hotel.com didn't direct the appt reservation to Cherokee Lodge so they didnt know about it. We reserved for two nights. Luckily they have a room available that night. Blanca call every nearest hotel to get us booked the next day for my wedding day. I was stressing out so bad not to mention I am also pregnant. She understands and she did everything she could to make me feel better and assure me that everything will be settled for the next day. Fortunately, she got us a hotel and she upgraded it to a suite. We only pay for the one night at the Cherokee and they paid the next day for the suite. She also gave us a voucher for the cab to take us there the next day. I have my makeup artist coming and my photographer. And that suite was huge and it was actually a perfect place to do everything at once. It was super roomy. It came with a lounge with 2 TVs, a kitchen, huge bathroom and a king bed. Our wedding was fantastic and everything came out great!!! Thanks Blanca and the crews. Definitely will book again. Very cute place to stay if you are looking to stay in a historic home. Very clean. Keep in mind it is historic which means you can hear everything around you. That was the only down fall to the stay, otherwise, we enjoyed it very much. Close to everything, we parked the car and never went back for it, we walked everywhere. The breakfast isn't served there but, you are given vouchers to Panera which is less than a block away, makes for a nice walk in the morning. Overall, I would stay here again. read more

If you want 5 start hotel service then go pay more somewhere else. I did not stay at this place to stay inside my room and order room service or layout by a huge pool. This place is perfect for the non-picky, easy going traveler who enjoys charm and quaintness. Yes there is a musty smell, but that is because the house is old and by the ocean! Many places in San Francisco smell the same. The rooms are a bit crunched but that is because there is a huge King bed, desk, sofa, small fridge, coffee maker and amoire. Walking distance to many great places to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again. The AC unit was nice as it cooled the summer air. We were given two breakfast vouchers for Panera. It would have been nice to get three as our 2 and a half yr old could eat a fair amount for breakfast. Overall nice stay. I would stay here again if I went to Coronado. Fair price for a good, clean place to sleep. read more
