They have a great selection of espresso drinks which is much appreciated. None of that watered down stuff that some of the other coffee shops in the area offer. I had the quiche, which came in a generous portion but lacked any real flavor. The foccacia sandwiches look good, I would try those next. I absolutely love this cafe! I frequent this shop several times a week. The girls always know my order upon me stepping in the door. The owner is also super nice and very on top of things. I've never had such great customer service. The coffee is always fresh and great quality. The pastries are always fresh and taste very authentic, I always feel like I'm back in Europe. Corto is the cutest new cafe in BedStuy! Located at Tompkins/Halsey and a 5 minute walk from the C train, it's a must try! It opened only about a week ago and is my new favorite go-to spot. The food is made with fresh ingredients and efficiently right in front of you. As a vegetarian myself, I recommend the Balla Focaccia! It was delicious and filling and tasted so fresh. I love a cafe with a variety snacks, meals, cute corner seats, open lighting, free wifi, and a peaceful atmosphere, and Corto has all this and more! I can't wait till the backyard opens this summer! Cristiano, the owner, is pleasant, authentic, and passionate about his work. We chatted about why he opened the cafe and it was lovely to see his personality and passion in his work. Best coffee in the area (seriously), and outdoor seating in the back! The menu is amazing. The focaccia sandwiches are absolutely perfect, and prosciutto + burrata to share makes this a perfect summer lunch spot. This place is truly excellent. You can taste the quality in the ingredients they use. Because of that, anything you get will be good. I got the Bragaglia Focaccia and it blew me away! I think I'll probably give it another shot but I've had multiple not-hot lattes here and it's a little disappointing. I'd say warm, like as though if you took something boiling hot (212°) and let it sit for a good 8-10 min. and that's, what, like hottub-hot? maybe it's on me for not being more specific about how I like my lattes? But hottub-hot is only like 103° or 104° and I imagine others would agree that a latte being the same temp as a hottub, isn't quite hot enough. Anyway, I will say for sure that I have also had a very good little pastry / donut thing there that was incredible. Corto is the kind of café that every neighborhood in New York hopes for, but few ever really get: full of light and the garden is nicely secluded from the noise of the street. Feels like a community since the service and staff are incredibly attentive, but it can get a bit busy at lunchtime. There is a great light bites and sandwiches menu, and when they are open for drinks in the evenings (hopefully again soon?) it's one of Bed Stuy's hidden gem cocktail bars. Consistently the best espresso I've had living most of my life in NYC. Try the Severini and their fresh orange juice, but everything I've had is good. read more

I'm not one to post bad reviews, but my recent experiences here have been a horror. I noticed a fellow guest tried to post it and was undermined. I have live in the hood for years, and was thrilled when Corto opened and crushed when pandemic closed it. When it reopened we frequented it, and the owner was usually kind to us. I've been happy to support it and bring everyone who comes by over despite the fact it is overpriced for what it is, and we tip excessively having worked 20 years in restaurants. So I brought my mum a couple times in the past couple weeks, and it sucked. We ordered and paid as usual, and got seating. When she was settled I went in to wait for my order. The guy making salads called me over and handed me our salad; I as usual asked if it was mine and he said yes, and he'd tell me when the foccacia was done. I always double check out of habit, but he handed my salad over and said no worries, super nice. I brought it to my mum and we enjoyed our wine while we waited on the sandwich, and he brought that out in a bit. Next thing you know, the owner comes out and starts yelling at us. Some other customer, i think, was upset about not having received their order yet. He's screaming that I took food that wasn't mine, i took food i didn't order, i took someone else's food, over and over. I told him I did not, that it was given to me and verified that it was my order. He screamed saying we didn't even order this, it isn't ours, we took someone else's food. My 75 yr old mother said I ordered it, I paid for it, and I tipped excessively, so what is the problem. He continued to tell us that we did not, that we took someone else's food. He then snatched the salad out from under my mother's fork and took it away. Needless to say, it was traumatizing and mortifying. Other patrons came to check on us and see if we were ok. We were shaking, had done Nothing wrong. He can say what he wants, but he was rude, aggressive, unkind, and absolutely in the wrong. And even if in some insane world we had taken someone else's order, that is obviously not how to handle it. When the other customers who had the similar order left, and checked in on us and said they were sorry about how we were treated, i saw they were south Asian, so I'm guessing some race issues came in to play and they mixed us up, since our order was similar. Eventually, the original guy who made and gave me the salad brought us a new one and sheepishly apologized very quietly for what went down, but the owner has said nothing at all and appears to stand by his abusive behavior. I didn't say anything as I live on the block and am invested in my community, but also because of that, I can't abide this. This was a break in our day to sneak an hour of peace; my dad is in the hospital after falling down the stairs and my mom is a mess, and this is how we were treated. I'm truly sorry to have to share this, but buyer beware. This restaurant doesn't care about you. We will not be back and we cannot advise anyone else to. I stumbled upon this place and it's just perfect . There's a backyard seating area which is in my opinion a great idea seeing that the actual cafe is on the smaller side .
