This brand is brought to you by the makers of H&M. However, the style doesn't really remind me of the fast fashion brand at all. It's a contemporary, minimalist store that seems aimed towards more mature clientele in the professional world who crave a more conservative styles. The store caters to both genders. COS stands for "Collection of Style". I've been in this store a few times, at different locations and I just didn't find anything that really spoke to me. I probably do not look like the typical COS customer. I'm 62. I have crazy gray hair and I generally walk around in gym clothes. But I love COS, and there was a vegan bag I wanted to get. So! I put on my usual sweats and went to the Century City mall and found the COS store. The moment i walked in I wanted to leave. I was invisible. The sales person was aloof and dismissive. It seemed like she did not want me in the store. Which of course she didn't! I am old and look even broker than I am. I bought the bag without paying a lot of attention to it. I just wanted to get out of the store. Wrong decision. It wasn't expensive, but It looks and feels like it came from the bargain bin at Forever 21. It has been sitting on a shelf in my closet. I am going to give it to a pre-teen. No more COS for me, but all good. Quince is similar in style and quality but less expensive, and it's available shopgirl-free. read more

TLDR; Racism, prejudice, inconsistent customer service/interactions, lack of respect and dignity, and demonstrated repeated occurrences of expecting customers to do their job then faulting them for not knowing. I'm writing to share my recent experience at this Beverly Hills location, as I believe there are some areas for major improvement in customer service and racial inclusivity. My partner and I were not treated respectfully or fairly during our short time in store. Upon entering the store, my partner and I noticed inconsistent customer greetings. While other customers were promptly acknowledged, we waited some time before receiving assistance with a dressing room, despite carrying multiple items for longer than other customers. During our visit, we observed what appeared to be differential treatment towards customers of different ethnicities. As an interracial couple (Asian and Caucasian), we felt uncomfortable with some of the looks we received from both staff and other customers. Including another customer putting on a mask after seeing my partner (even though the store was full of customers in our area prior to her seeing us) and removing it once we were far away enough. I'm concerned this may not be an isolated incident, as I've noticed many similar comments in other reviews. The level of attentiveness during our shopping experience was below expectations. We also had difficulty finding assistance for different sizes or options, ultimately having to search for items ourselves. At checkout, there was some confusion on the staffs part regarding the order of customers in line. We were at the front, but the male associate asked the people behind us if they were ready to check out. The other customers pointed to us and verbally stated we were first. Our items were also on the desk already which added to the confusion on our part. Additionally, during transaction the associate (SA 1004991) seemed disengaged, avoiding eye contact and not offering information about your loyalty program until we inquired after hearing the customers next to us asking for assistance signing up. We asked if they need our number for points purposes and he handed us our receipt and said "you should've asked" with a dismissive and condescending tone. We then responded "you didn't ask" and we then asked if we could add it through our receipt and he said they don't offer points and the 10% discount only qualifies for your first purchase. We stated we weren't asking for the discount as we have purchased from the brand previously, but we wanted to know if we were missing out on anything in the loyalty program. He dismissed the question, and repeated the discount is for first time customers. My partner went back in right after we left and got the sales associates name "Nelson" (SA 1004491) and observed he was asking the current customer how her experience was and if she needed anything else. None of which he asked us. The employee was surprised to see my partner but he still gave us the name, when asked. I believe these issues present an opportunity for staff training in customer service, cultural sensitivity, and store procedures. I'm sharing this feedback in hopes of contributing to a more welcoming environment for all customers. Thank you for your attention to these matters. I came to the store in person for a few reasons: I wanted to pick up some more of their 'Clean Cut' t-shirts that have been frequently out of stock in the colors/size I want online. Same thing with their tank tops. Lastly I wanted to try on a pair of their new wide leg drawstring jeans. 0 out of 3 were a success. I will never come back here. If I didn't actually appreciate the style and quality that went into their clothes, I would never purchase anything from them ever again after this experience! I arrived at the store shortly after opening on a weekday. They seemed to be having some sort of staff meeting and walk-through with their visual merchandising department. The layout of the store was extremely frustrating, normally I'm a self serve kind of gal! One would think they would have things like their jeans, t-shirts and other basics arranged for easy access on a table or wall like most stores do. I walked around for quite a long time, trying to locate a stack of T-shirts with no success. None of the five employees ever looked up or pressed pause on their meeting to ask if I needed anything. Why are they even having an employee meeting while customers are in the store??! Rude. It would've been nice to have simply been pointed in the direction of these elusive T-shirts! When their meeting finally adjourned, I flagged someone down to ask where they kept the 'Clean Cut' t-shirts. The associate (guy with auburn beard) looked at me with question marks in his eyes, even though I asked for the product by name and it's one of their best sellers! How are their associates unfamiliar with their core products??! Annoying. After a moment of explanation, he looked up the item online and told me they don't have it in the store. Then I asked him about the tank tops I wanted, same: they didn't have it! Lastly I asked if they had the drawstring jeans in any smaller sizes, they only had about four pairs on the sales floor. Same response, nope, they don't have it! This is a fairly large store, it is beyond me as to why they have so few items. Honestly, why are they paying Beverly Hills storefront rent for a store that stocks 15 items??! The in person trip to the store was a complete waste of my time and a frustrating experience to say the least! I should add that when I used the feature on their website to locate an item in the store before coming here it DID say the item was available at this location. read more

I went there to make a return on an online purchase I'd received the day prior. The manager said so sorry we won't be able to make this return because you bought it on sale and the system does not allow me to overwrite it! I was surprised but said if the system doesn't let you, that's ok! I had another return at Century City mall and decided to just stop by the other Cos store and ask! They took it back, not problem, and I received full payment back. I was shocked!! BH staff could've been helpful and kind easily but chose not to! I never understand these types of people! read more

Sure people are excited that COS has arrived at Beverly Hills and the US, but there's really no reason for the overhype. I was really disappointed by the quality and shocked at the price. I was expecting poorly made clothes like these would be priced lower or at least similarly to Zara, but it was undeservingly more expensive. It's definitely possible to find better stuff at this price-point elsewhere. There were a few pieces that had potential but missed the mark. Either the fit was terrible, the seams looked cheap or the material was not up to par. You get the idea. I don't care for labels, I care more for quality. Whether it's H&M or Stella, if you wear a quality piece, you'll naturally look like a million bucks. The women's section of the store felt cramped and overstocked, the men's section upstairs was significantly more airy and enjoyable. The only great thing about this place was the well designed entrance. Service was rather snobby and unfriendly. I get much better service at places like H&M, Maje and luxury brands that are just a block away. We should celebrate the fact that H&M's fashion forward and higher end sister brand chose Los Angeles over New York to open their first store in the United States! I hope we get a ProMod (France) soon here in the States too -- I love that store! I hear that fashionistas all over NYC are jealous we have the first COS (Collection of Style) in the States. I read that COS (heard it pronounced as "kaws") is a Vogue staff favorite for many, many years and they leave their suitcases some space to bring these pieces back home from their trips in Europe. Americans can't buy COS online yet, so everyone outside of LA will have to fly to Europe or come to LA to shop at COS. I loved browsing the racks and even tried on a piece. I wanted to buy something but I had a hard time deciding to buy a piece knowing how most of my H&M purchases have fallen apart (usually holes form) within only one year. I'd definitely consider buying from COS if I find that the clothes here are indeed better quality than H&M. In comparison, the fabric seemed better quality and thicker. As with H&M, all washing instructions were to gentle wash, hang dry or dry clean. The styles here can be mistaken for big name fashion designers such as Stella McCartney and I can easily imagine some of these pieces on the runway. I love this store and reminds me of the reason why I love shopping in Europe for clothing. The fabric and the cut of each piece are more edgy than the clothing I can find here in the States. I find that for me to get better designed clothes here in the States, I'll have to pay a high price for it. At COS, the prices are reasonable for timeless "designer" staples in your wardrobe. Checked this H&M sister brand store out this past Saturday with two of my girlfriends, just a couple days after their grand opening. I expected crazy hectic lines but it was quite calm and just a regular shopping day feel. Free public parking structure about two doors down which made it super convenient for us (no validation needed either). Stepped inside and immediately there were racks of clothes greeting us. Dressing room was the most hectic part about the entire store, there were 20 employees going in and out and a little less than 10 dressing rooms in total. The actual dressing rooms are amazing though, very cozy and mirrors in front and behind you, some of which you can move too! They had plenty of stock so don't fret that everything was taken on opening day. The store felt fully stocked - didn't even get to check out the second level but it was Men's and Children I believe. read more

Received racial discrimination at the store today because I'm asian, they made up the reason and didn't want me to return the clothes. When I bought at COS store they told me the fitting room cannot be used, and they said I can return it if it's too big. I came to Beverly Hills location to return at 5:45 pm, then the bold male manager told me to try something else, then I quickly found a couple of things I want to exchange, then male manager said he closed the system and I cannot return. I think he just thinks I am asian and discriminating asian oh purpose!!! Who gave u the right to close the system early and reject the customers to return?? Your corporate gave u the right? And they told me to drive to century city to return, I said Beverly Hills is closer to me. Customer service is horrid. We just left more than 500 of merchandise on the checkout stand and no one (including the manager - wearing peach striped shirt and chatting on the phone) spoke with us. Love their basic tees. Soft, and good material. Great value, price vs quality. It sometimes takes them a while to get back to me when I ask them about inventory, but they when they do have the items in stock, they're willing to hold it for me for a day or two. First of all this place is a God Send. Angelinos have been clamoring for a store like this forever. I'm not sure what people are talking about when it comes to the poor quality of the garments. I can honestly say the quality is up their with Banana Republic and JCREW. It's Nothing like the poor quality you get from H&M. Yes, I do realize they are one in the same. I've purchased several items already and I am extremely satisfied with the fit and quality. From a consumers point of view, I am absolutely shocked on just how cheap this place is when it comes to quality and designs of the clothes. COS is like Jil Sander meets Theory but without the high prices. If you're someone who wishes they could afford clothes that were fashion forward with quality but can't spend the $1000 on a coat, this place is for you. Cos is dope, think cheaper alternative to Acne Studios or APC. It is def not cheap like H&M but in comparison to Topman it is far better quality and styling. The people who have given bad reviews probably spend their days at Old Navy or Target looking for deals. It is def not cheap quality. Horrible horrible customer service! An affront to its customers! COS' headquarters needs to do something about the staff at this store. I had an awful experience there today. I arrived at the fitting room to try on some clothes and the attendant mumbled something to me and put me in a fitting room. After a few minutes she came knocking aggressively on the door telling me "I asked you if you were Hillary and you told me YES and you got into the wrong fitting room". It is not my fault she put me in the wrong fitting room! I obviously didn't hear her ask me that question, but *nothing* warranted her aggressive attitude. She was extremely rude!!! I told her on the spot that she should not treat customers like that. Her name is Stephanie. The other employees at this store were equally awful. So I love the style and it's one of the main stores I shop. However, at this location on Beverly Dr I often (and I mean every time) find the clothes have makeup stains on them. I even picked up a shirt and pointed out a makeup stain to an employee thinking I was helping-- they could just baby wipe it clean. Instead, the employee took the shirt and 5 min later it was back hanging unchanged. Have not had this issue with the Beverly Center store which always looks pristine. read more

I work down the block from the store and was excited to check it out when it opened. Just before Christmas, I bought a men's jacket and sweater and a girl's dress as gifts. The zipper stuck on the jacket - on all three that I tried - so the sales woman had another brought up from the store room. Later, I discovered that this zipper stuck too. It seems to be an inherent flaw or design defect. Anyway, I went back to the store after Christmas to exchange the sweater and jacket for larger sizes (and because of the zipper). However, at the time I bought the clothing, I was told that they didn't do gift receipts. Consequently, I had to give the receipt to the girl to whom I gave the dress. As a result, I didn't have the receipt for the jacket and sweater. At the store, I was told they didn't have bigger sizes for the clothing. They also told me that since I didn't have the receipt, I couldn't get a refund. I could get a store credit, but I had to use it then and there (which I couldn't do since I was on a quick lunch break). I asked them why they couldn't just scan the tags and my credit card -- or why I couldn't bring in my credit card statement -- but I was told by "Katy" the manager that their computer system couldn't do that. It is baffling to me that in this day and age, the computer system of a modern Beverly Hills store can't a) produce gift receipts and b) just read tags and a credit card. I left, furious, because I didn't have time to find new items - and frankly, I don't think their clothes are worth the price. In addition, the stuck zipper should have been noticed by someone in the store long before I noticed it. Now I have to figure out what to do. Kay was no help at all. I will not shop there at all. Wow, so I was expecting something pretty great when I walked into the store on Beverly in Beverly Hills. However the gross plastic fart-like stench coming from the front of the store deterred me right off the bat. I went inside the store to explore what the heck this store was offering and why it was so highly regarded a few months ago. All I saw were very unhelpful drone-like women salesladies, who wore the mundane clothing sold there, thinking they were on the runway in Paris do nothing more than hang clothes and ignore everybody in the store. There was one exception, however...I think this girl's name was Kelly. She was Asian and had very gorgeously styled brown hair. She seems like the only ALIVE person in the store and actually smiled at me. She even gave me a greeting. I don't understand what the hype is about CO'S. I didn't see anything but overpriced H&M-like clothing and wannabe Lanvin and Calvin Klein spiceless frocks. I suppose this review could be considered a little bitter, however, starting my shopping experience off smelling Chipotle-like noxious gas fumes coming from a store that is charging $100 for a t-shirt sort of justifies my attitude here. Love the design, love the price. I can not find any other brand that has good aesthetic with low price. Their clothing quality is not super good, but you get what you pay for, so there should be no complaints. I drove from SF to LA for this store and bought a total if six pieces for less than 800 dollars. That's is amazing! The selection is pretty good and some of the staff is friendly. There are one or two staff members that had some attitude. Yes, you look pretty and I love your hair too, but can't you see I am holding 10 tops. I ordered over $500 of clothing from this retailer online. When I returned much of it for different sizes (as the sizing was seemingly arbitrary based on each piece), they kept my clothes and my money. No one ever reached out to say that they had even received my return package... not even an automated email! When I called in, it took me at least 25 minutes to get to a manager. After (3) weeks of back and forth, their sale 'ended' and they were unable to exchange any of my sizes. They acted like I was problematic for requesting my returns. I said to them... ' the clothing WAS available THREE WEEKS AGO when you received my returns!' One associate even said, "i sorry our solution doesn't make you happy." After several hours of me calling in to Cos customer service, they just refunded my money and let me know via email that they weren't sending my clothes. Gee thanks.
