What can you say about Cosi? It's an overpriced chain sandwich shop, like so many places to eat in the Financial District. However, the manager of this Cosi is ridiculously nice. I was admiring one of their ads for their crab cake sandwich, and after chatting me up a bit, he gave me his business card and wrote the words "free lunch" on it, telling me I could stop by and try a crab cake sandwich on him. Living in Philly spoiled me. In Philly they have Cosi and XandO which is better than just plain old Cosi. The problem here in Boston is that all the locations are in the financial district and they all close by 5pm. You never get to experience the evening menu! The make your own s'mores are fantastic and they are the reason to go. Yes, its great for sandwiches for lunch but for me the experience just isn't the same. In Philly it's a late night destination and serves alcohol and all sorts of yummy desserts....I wish they would expand one of the Boston franchises. Been here a few times over the last couple years and enjoyed their sandwiches, the bread is especially delicious. It's unfortunate then that today I popped in and picked up a BLT to bring back to work. At my desk I was dismayed to discover the bacon strips were about 50% raw. Tip #1, as you walk in to Cosi, dont forget to sample their bread, they have the best bread eva!! This is a staple lunch place, snadwiches, soups, salad, very efficient, there isnt much of a wait for anything. You can grab and go within 10. Plenty of seating for lunch. I think there is another one opening in Kendall, i know a couple of worker bees who are very happy about that!! You def. need a lunch place like this, no stress, low maintence, walk in an out with your medicore-delish lunch ! read more

Just because there's a fireplace in the joint, doesn't mean the food is fresh, or homemade. In fact, I'm sure most of it is frozen and reheated. I've been consistently underwhelmed by the food here. Lovely seating area and super clean. The staff was really friendly, especially the woman who made my vanilla kiss latte. The scone was absolutely delicious. The latte wasn't that good- there were chunks of cinnamon in it that really detracted from drinking it. I would try them again though as the prices and selection were good! read more

Food was mediocre. Tried to order a sandwich, but they didn't have bread because they were doing the "breakfast thing". So I tried to order eggs since (a breakfast thing), they didn't have those either, only egg whites. Plus the servers really looked confused when they were making the food. I don't have much new to say about Cosi, but wanted to write to agree with the other reviewers here. Upscale fastfood, really: good tasting salads, sandwiches and bread. Everything is pretty fresh, but the nutrional content can be dangerous. I do salads without dressing on a regulard basis and come out okay. The servers are always friendly (Boston downtown). The prices are steep, especially compared to the other lunch options downtown. Nothing about Cosi should be confused for a restaurant that is much better than average. But at the end of the day, I find myself going there a couple days a week. It's easy. It's quick. The people are nice. And it can be healthy if you're vigilent. read more

Stopped in here today to use the free wireless internet (which was fast, reliable, and I received zero complaints/questions about using). Struck up a conversation with who I believe to be the manager of the location, who was extremely courteous. He gave me an overview of what's special about Cosi and then provided me with a number of free bread samples (what they're known for), and a free coffee to boot! Now, clearly they're in the business to make money, but I really appreciated the manager's interest in building up new customers/fans, as I admitted I had never been to the chain. The entire staff on hand seemed very friendly and professional as well, and the location was quite clean. All the food looked delicious, and the bread I ate was extremely tasty. I must come back in the future to try more, but I had already eaten lunch at this point so I didn't order a sandwich/etc. read more

The "bread" is covered in table salt and is like stale pita. The "chicken" tastes like they dumped it out of a purdue shortcuts bag, rubbery and unnatural. For $7 you get what would be a 1/4 sized sandwich anywhere else. This place sucks and is a ripoff. read more

This place gets 3 stars because of their high prices for salads, however almost everything I have tried here is extremely good. Unreal - they replaced their square store made bagels with tasteless round bagels that must have been purchased from some outside vendor. Bought one this morning. Yum: signature salad and tbm sandwich. But let's be real: the best thing about Cosi is the bread as it comes out of the oven. I love that while waiting in the persistenly ridiculously long line, you can watch the guys baking the flatbread and then when they cut it into the sandwich size, they leave the ends in a bowl for the customers to snack on. The staff here are pretty nice and upbeat, but I'm not sure about the quality-price ratio. I think all the salads in the Financial District are pretty much overpriced, and this is no exception. Still, the quality is usually quite good, and they have a nice selection of pre-designed salads. Their bread is to die for, and their sandwiches are often (though not always) quite yum. Skip the flavorless plain chicken in your salad, though, and go with the Bombay spiced chicken instead. read more

Gorgeous setting, drinks were bad, overpriced and one was served in plastic ! Waitress was the highlight of the dinner. Appetizers were good but served 4 minutes before our cold entrees. Over priced for portions ~ swordfish tacos for an entree size was 2 petite piece of swordfish, a joke for the high price tag. Scallops only 3 were cold and served over a mess! This place is one of the most over rated places in Boston. It may be a big boston chain, but there are a lot of sandwhich shops in Boston and around it that are much, much better. I know a lot people who like it and it does a lot of lunch time business, but it needs to be brought down a notch. If I had the option to give it 2.5 stars, I would. I give it three because the service is above average in terms of wait time. It is about 3 to 4 minutes, not including waiting to be taken in line, up to the point where they are handing you the food. It all depends how much is on the sandwhich and what branch you are at, so don't hold me to that. I suggest you try everything else before you try this place. But Cosi is ok in a pinch. read more

I get breakfast there a lot. You usually get a piece of fruit if you buy a breakfast sandwich. I get the TBM squagel. It's tomato, basil, mozzarella and scrambled egg on a square bagel. It's tasty! My love affair with this place has ended. I used to love it- their sandwiches, (especially the TBM on wheat bread) are amazing (except for one time when it tasted like low tide smells). I love the signature salad with chicken. The outdoor patio here is nice. However the line is always out the door and the last 2 times I've gone they screwed up my order. In addition- some of the employees can be flat out rude (don't get frustrated with me because you can't understand me asking for low-fat salad dressing in plain english!) The Signature salad is great! It's the perfect portion, and it comes with a giant chunk of delicious bread. If you're calorie counting (like I've started to recently), you can always get an apple or a banana with your salad instead. I've gotten this salad at least 50 times for lunch, because Cosi is right next to my office. The only other thing I've gotten here is the parfaits, also delicious! Furthermore, the staff here couldn't be more efficient! I get out of there within 5 minutes, and they make the salad as directed (I always like no pears and extra pistachios). The only reason I have to give this place 3 stars is because it is very pricey. The salad is around $8, which it totally unreasonable for its size. Of course this is the Financial Fistrict, so they can get away with it, but I can't in good conscience give them 5 stars with those prices. read more

This is by far the best Cosi I've been to. My favorites are their Tomato Basil Aurora and their crab cake sandwich. Their bread is amazing imo. I had their Margherita pizza once and that was good too although very filling. I've had their breakfast wraps and my only complaint is they are too small... but also cheaper than the boloco ones for example so what can you expect. I think it's reasonably priced; I feel like lunch everywhere is about the same, if you want to save money the best thing to do is bring your own lunch! I am a long time fan of Cosi and have been a patron of this location for 10+ years when I visit our Boston office. I was disappointed when I approached the counter this AM to see they had switched from square to round bagels. I thought the shape shouldn't matter and taste should be the same....boy was I wrong! It was stale and hard (I like them untoasted as they are usually fresh and soft). It was not the fresh tasting squagles I am used to getting. So disappointed that Cosi changed one of my favorite items to order. read more

fast cheap and delicious salads the line can get pretty long but there's bread for you to munch on while your waiting but for some reason i never took advantage of it, but its there for you to nibble on. during the summer months there's always good looking people hanging out and having lunch. read more
