Nature intervened, as a huge storm came the same day demolition had begun, causing unforeseen problems. Nelson responded immediately, and by 11:00 that night was at our home to assess the issues. (An hour travel time for him- in a storm) Every step of this process has been personalized, professional, the crew was delightful, and they cared about us, our home and their good reputation. Wexperience I've ever had with a contractor. They failed the inspection because several of the sheeting nails had not been nailed in all the way. Found more under the underlayment after they said that they nail them down all the way before putting it on. A complete lie. They even used shingles nails in many parts of the sheeting They are much shorter and don't penetrate enough to secure the plywood. At one point they cut the coaxial to my internet and I had to fix it myself. When I spoke with the owner about the work all he had to say was that the warranty covered labor. What and arrogant price of work he is. I strongly suggest you never have them work on your house. read more

This review has been a long time coming but, that said, this is probably the best testament to a job well done. We hired Cosmic Renovation to redo our Spanish style tile roof approximately 2 years ago. They are very good at explaining the process and the details without making it all feel like a big upsell (other companies did make us feel like that). Their price is fair, not the most expensive but not the cheapest but they deliver well on what they promise. The value comes from the quality of service and workmanship. Now that the new roof has been up for a couple years I can safely say it's doing the job perfectly. Definitely recommend Cosmic for your roofing needs, they are good at what they do from start to finish. Our project manager Blake was also very communicative and helpful in guiding us through the process and keeping us updated, no idea if he is still with the company but a shout out to him for being great. read more

She called me back when she said she would and was extremely professional and personable. To sum it up, May, made me feel like a client and not a deputy project manager! What a horrible mistake hiring these guys was! Estimator estimated 2 days of work and $8000, but never even went up on the roof. He promised to oversee the work but 2 independent workers showed up that didn't even know the whole scope of work. After less than 4 hours they said they were done and the estimator/foreman had never appeared. I had to call him to come to my house beg them to stay until he showed up to tell them of the rest of the work. Less than an hour later, they were done. 4+ hours total the estimator never even checked their work and this horrible company wanted to charge me $8000. I had to argue with the owner to get their price down $6270. He was rude as can be arguing that I should be happy that tghey got the work done in 4 hours. DON'T USE THESE SCAM ARTISTS!! My dad was trying to build a sunroom in our house and got several quotes from difference companies. He decided to go with the "cheap" option instead of the "high-end" companies. He signed the contract and agreed to paying $25,000 for the whole project. He paid the $1000 for permits and a mock-up (google earth photo of our house). Then they asked for $10,000 for materials (which is suspicious: google it) Now they're saying the project will cost an additional $9,000 from the agreed upon contract. At that point they're at the "high-end" price range while giving low-end design and materials. We just want our money back so we can go with a different company. They can keep the down payment of $1000 but since they haven't bought any materials or started any work, they should return our $10,000 since they're trying to break the contract by asking for more money! read more

Claimed he could repair a 25 year old Hardyshake roof by removing, setting aside and laying new underlayment then replacing tile. What BS. Project Lead: Ben The Job: Rooftop Deck above garage needed to be ripped out and replace, new drainage needed to be installed The Good:  Ben was very enthusiastic about the job and is a very nice guy.  He made sure to explain what the job would entail, what needed to be done, why the problems were happening, ect.  He was understanding about the funds for the job being locked up until the sale of one of my other properties went through.  The beginning of the job went great, the framing was done well, more ceiling beams had to be replaced than originally thought which they did for no extra charge and they had some higher quality top layer material left over from another job that they used at no additional cost to us.   The Bad: Going back to the demo part of the job, we were told that there was no need to move the boxes and various other things we had in the garage out or to cover them.  Nobody covered them and so now we have boxes full of plywood debris from ripping up the deck.   After the initial large work was done, a team was no longer sent out to do the finishing work.  It was one guy, who came out 2-3 times a week, and we rarely got any notice on what days those would be.  Often we were told he would be showing up one day, but then no one would show up with no explanation.   Repeatedly we were told "oh, the guy is going to come out and finish the job on x day", but then no one would show up, and when he did the job was not finished.  We were told the job would take 10 days (and that that was estimating on the long side). The job was started on March 29th and didn't finish until May 19th.  It happened several times that Ben asked if I was free for him to come and discuss things later in the day, but then he would be a no show. There was a general lack of quality control with the finished work.  Instead of quality control being done by the contractor, I had to go and find all of the problems myself (of which there were many on the first pass) and complain about them.  Then the one guy came out a week later to fix them, but then new things came up, and I would have to complain about them, ect.  In the end I just kind of felt it was 'good enough' and was so exhausted with the back and forth and taking time out of my work day to inspect the work and discuss what was wrong I just said it was fine so I could go on with my life. read more

I wouldn't trust these guys when it comes to quotes. Here's what happened to me - I had a deck I needed built, I was quoted 28k but if I used Trex they had in stock they would drop it to 22k. They called a few days later I explained that was above what I had budgeted for and didn't realize how much decks were as I thought I'd be closer to 15k. They came back and agreed to doing it for 17k. I agreed, and even ran my credit through their lender and got approved for a loan for most of the cost. Before we began I had a few questions about the project to ensure it was done right, owner sends a worker out and then decided the project was more difficult than he expected because I'm by a hill and changed the price to 35k..even higher than the initial quote. After calling him out on it, he offers around 26, I said no and that was it. After all that wasted time, effort, and even running my credit, I don't trust these guys and wouldn't recommend anyone I know working with them. read more

We hired Cosmic to redo our roof in preparation for solar panels. Of the 5 roofing bids we received, Cosmic's price was in the middle and they were available to do it within a week or two. Our point of contact, David, was easy to work with and made himself readily available to address any issues. Cosmic's crew stripped our old roof and put up new shingles in 2.5 days. For the most part, they cleaned up at the end of each day and were careful to not break things in our yard. There was the occasional debris/nail leftover (one of which I stepped on) and they accidentally crushed a couple plants during demo of the old roof. My advice is that you comb the area with them before they leave for the day. There was the occasional debris left in trees or the neighbor's yard that they quickly picked up once I pointed it out to them. There was also a miscommunication and the crew removed our attic fans. David quickly addressed this and had a new fan installed. However, this new fan was improperly wired and we had to get an electrician to look at it. Surprisingly, Cosmic contacted us regarding feedback on our project and I mentioned the fan issue. They immediately looked into the issue and sent out an electrician to fix our fan and now I can say that the job is 100% complete. Overall, we're happy with the work they did and may use them again in the future. The fan fiasco is unfortunate but I don't think was intentional and they corrected the issue without pushback. read more

I originally needed to get my roof redone as part of a solar installation project, and the solar company referred me to Cosmic Roofing as their preferred partner. Due to the unusual roof slope on my house, several other companies had turned me down for this project. Cosmic sent me David A. to go over the initial conversation of the project. We talked about work streams, dates, expectations, areas of concern, and of course the price. He showed me sample tiles, colors, materials, and explained some items that I hadn't taken into account, such as adding new vents to pass the permit process. I felt like David really understood what needed to be done and how he would tackle it. That was why I felt comfortable signing a work order right away. The tiles were delivered within days, which I was pleasantly surprised at. The roof installers came the next day, and did their job efficiently. Permits were reviewed the same week, and I officially had a new roof in less than a month's time. It's commendable how efficient this company is. My house is now noticeably cooler on sunny days because David recommended the white roof tiles. Of course, the fast speed made it easy for the solar company to do their installation too. We're very happy to have worked with Cosmic Renovation and Roofing. It wasn't until I spoke with David that I found out they also do solar installations. I might've had them make a bid for the solar work as well, but since I had already decided on someone else, it wasn't in the cards. With the first rainfall we had a minor leak which seeped into the downstairs hallway. Blake came out right away and assured us that, if it was their fault, they would take care of it. It turned out that during the demolition and re-roofing project, some roofing nails and other detritus fell into a downspout which then backed up and overflowed, resulting in the leak. They cleaned it out and Alfredo's crew put in new sheetrock and paint, making it like new again. Great service and they stood behind their work. read more

Our roof was leaking after the atmospheric river storms hit the Bay Area. We called several companies and Ben from Cosmic came within the same day. Ben inspected the damage inside of our home and told us they would tarp the roof the next day (rain was expected). We discussed what needed to be done and A few days later Ben called to tell us a crew would be showing up to fix the problem. Great service. Needed a new roof. The company was great to deal with. Roof was done in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend Cosmic Renovations.

Saw ad and coupon in Castro Valley Home Repair mailer, and decided to call for estimate before rainy season started. Received a quick response and set-up an appointment for the next day. The sales rep arrived on-time and immediately went up on the roof to assess the job. After some discussion, and phone calls back to the office, he gave me a verbal quote and we agreed on an immediate down payment and add'l payment upon completion, with the remainder being financed. We were able to be processed, approved and signed documents on-line before he left. He called me the next day to confirm a start date. I cleared my driveway, cleaned-up the backyard, and left a case of bottled water and snacks out for the workers. The crew showed up on-time, and immediately went to work clearing off the roof in half-a-day. After it was removed, it was evident that I needed new insulation, so that was added to the loan and done the next day, while the roof was off. The rest of the time was done replacing dry-rot and installing the new roof. There was very little disturbance and I made myself available for any questions or issues. Once the job was completed, Cosmic called me for the additional payment, which I was able to submit on-line. Also, I was invoiced for the Alameda County permit fee of $419, which I thought would be absorbed in the cost by Cosmic. I was told that since I was the homeowner, that I'm responsible for this expense. There was some minor leakage experienced, but Cosmic responded and was resolved, quickly. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work and relieved that I have a 30-year warranty on my roof. Many thanks to the sales rep Yaniv, and all the workers that did such a great job! read more

We were extremely un happy with this service of designing our back yard micki was not communicating good with us and taking over 2 months to get some sort of drawing is not ok. When we did get our drawings they were not ok! There were many flaws . There was o my 1 thing we liked, the backyard was way off scale, he did nothing to our pool, it was not updated to a Baja style like we talked about, no trees which I told him were very important, and the plants which looked tropical were the opposite of our style which we told him and sent him plants we wanted, he put grass directly next to the pool which is not smart, and there was a pole directly In a walk way. And they couldn't even get the color of our house right.So no this was not a quality drawing. we told micki this and then NEVER heard back from him. When the office manager called to get the final payment I was wanting to get new drawings and she just assumed we were done and was so rude and just wanted us to finish paying for an unfinished job. Then she called back again, very rude. At this point we decided to go with a different company. Now over 6 months later David calls me and yes he was VERY rude and raised his voice at me and was way too aggressive if he was truly trying to rectify the situation. I called this place because I had a leak in my roof so Miki Braun came over looked at the roof said no problem we could fix it, He said it would be $6,000. I thought it was a little high but it needed to be fixed I didn't get another quote because all the other companies were busy. It rained two weeks later and the leak was still there Cosmic renovation didn't come back for a month. I called, and called no answered. I called another company they said my job was a $2500 job not a $6000 job. To say the least I feel ripped off because I was a older senior woman and I believe they just took advantage of who I was an Senior single woman. So if you wanna throw your money away go with Cosmic they would definitely take your money. I wish as a senior I can sue these companies for ripping out senior woman. read more

I am pleased to share my positive experience working with Cosmic Roofing. I bought an older house in Lafayette that needed a new roof and gutters (see photos). After struggling for months with several other roofers to get callbacks and proposals, I called Cosmic. The next day I had an estimator visit. Their initial proposal was too high, but after some negotiation they came down to a fair price, consistent with the other bids. We signed a contract the same day. They were able to start the job within a week (some other roofers said I would have to wait months). Their crew chief, Miguel (insist on him!), made sure the work was done right (roof, gutters, skylight, boards, etc) and that clean-up was done every evening. We are very pleased with how the job went, with the finished product and what we paid for it. I recommend Cosmic Roofing very highly. read more

I would give even less than a star if possible. they were very insisting and solicitous when they were doing their bid for the job, the installation of artificial turf in my yard. I should have followed my gut feeling and not chosen them but I wanted the job done and the other company could not do it for a few months. The whole process was a nightmare with workers not showing up, leaving their trash all over the yard, try to skip steps and save on material (I had to be there and check on everything when I realized what they were doing). They ordered the wrong size of turf so it took even more time. After only eight months the turf was coming unglued... so I called them aa there is a warranty and after more than a month of back and forth, with workers not showing up when they were supposed to, they finally came. They were not very polite and clearly did not want to do the job. I hope what they did will last...but I do not trust them doing anything in the proper way. this is a very expensive project and the worse process I had with any company. This company is awful and unethical and should not be in business. read more

Cosmic roofing lacks honesty and integrity. We purchased a home with a new roof that had been installed by Cosmic one month prior to sale. One year later we have to completely replace the roof due to leaking tar dripping down from the roof. When I reached out to Cosmic as we have a warranty, they stated this was not their fault b/c the leaking underlayment was coming from residue from a prior roof. They offered to send someone out to take a look and the man they sent defensively stated this is not my fault and began yelling at my wife. They did not offer to help repair the roof. Instead they offered to remove the old roof at cost. We wrote back (3 times) to accept their offer to remove the roof and they failed to respond. What we have experienced is lack of accountability, extreme disrespect, and lack of follow through and honesty. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU VALUE HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. read more

We are in the process of replacing a roof Cosmic installed about 1.5 years ago. The new roofers were shocked our roof did not leak. In their exact words, they told us they did not think Comic knew what they were doing. Among other things, the overlap between the shingles was too narrow. Project- Balcony/Patio tear-out and reinstall, including waterproofing, drainage, and repair of a leak. My house is about 80 years old; I discovered that there was a leak from a (nearly) roof-top patio down into the dining room wall below. Ben came over, assessed the situation, and was very upfront about the price being determined by what they found after they pulled up the patio flooring. Unfortunately, it was kind of a mess under there. Ben explained the process and pricing very clearly and set up the different crews for each layer of the tear-out and reinstall. They were great about working with my schedule; Ben always called me back if there was an issue. The job, which was a multi-step project, was finished pretty quickly. Everyone was very polite, cleaned up and carted away any debris after every layer and they were even very nice to my dog, (who can be a little annoying ) It looks good now and I am confident that the waterproofing is solid.
