Love cosmos every time I go it's like it's even better. If tap walls or your thing, they've got it set at Cosmos. Surrounded in plants, which I love. Take your time to try every sweet tea they've got. Every time I've gone I've always had the Nashville hot chicken with some mac & cheese and it is always "chefs kiss" . The grilled sourdough with honey ricotta cheese is to die for. Might be one of the best appetizers I've had these last couple of years. read more

Another great find returning to Liberty University for the VMBC championships. This place had so much character and one bangin Bloody Mary! The food also had great flavor that I really appreciated. We needed a place for a quick brunch and this find checked all the boxes. A tiny bit slow but I get why as we came in deep with 12 people in a hurry but, they delivered and was a great experience. The decor is very cool and vibrant. There are lots of plants and cool artwork. It is clean. It is conveniently located right down town. I think they are fairly new and the service while friendly and polite was a little bumpy which might've had something to do with the kitchen. The food was decent. We just basically got eggs and home fries so nothing too complex. My friend got a salad with chicken on it. That was very nice The high top chairs were not comfortable. read more

This was our 2nd visit here and we were disappointed with the service. We sat down at 10:18 and our food did not arrive until 11:02. Our order was very simple (2 orders of eggs, avocado toast, grilled sourdough We arrived early enough that there were only 3 other tables occupied. Great food, good service with an exceptional ambiance. My date and I were in town for a few days and Cosmos was the highlight of our trip. Visited twice within a three day trip. I live hours away, and I'm planning my next trip to Lynchburg right now, just to eat here again. Everything was perfectly seasoned, the restaurant is beautiful, and the vibes matched perfectly. Crumbs didn't stand a chance - the Nashville Chicken and Waffles had the perfect balance of spicy and sweet with the syrup, while the catfish was seasoned and fried to perfection. If I were to open my own restaurant this is what I would use as inspiration - wonderful establishment top to bottom. read more

We had the Jefferson & Baja salads as well as the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles. I tasted all of the above & they were excellent. Neither Chicken & Waffles or fried chicken appeals to me & I have never ordered it. However, after trying this rendition my niece ordered, I might be converted. The flavor was fantastic. What a good experiences afternoon at cosmos. Everyone seemed to love the food. From the chicken and waffles to the avocado toast to the biscuits and gravy everyone was satisfied with their meals. Our waitress was fine, not overly attentive. The food runner who brought our meals out seemed extremely rushed. He threw our plates down and almost ran away. It was overall odd. Were kind of dirty and there was a dead bug in the women's restroom. I think if you're looking for a clean space this might not be the place but the food was delicious. read more

We had a reservation but had to wait 30 min to be seated, and then got drinks quickly but an hour after food was ordered, it still hadn't come. When we inquired about the food, we learned it hadn't even been fired yet. We had to leave. It was disappointing and a huge waste of time. Won't be back again, and wouldn't suggest going unless you have all day to kick back and drink and wait hours for your food. My first time to Cosmos today. Went for an early lunch on a Saturday morning with my younger daughter after we agreed that the menu looked kind of fun. The interior of the restaurant is very nice with big windows and high ceiling. We didn't do the serve yourself beer, but I am fascinated by the future opportunity. The servings were sizable and the prices reasonable and due to one staff, no-show two people working were overloaded with Saturday morning overflow from the market across the street. As a geezer I could've stood a little more warmth in the place. Fahrenheit warmth not staff friendliness, which was definitely present in spite of their being somewhat overwhelmed. They were moving quickly most of the time. There are hours are definitely extended compared to many other Downtown restaurants, opening at 9 AM and not closing until 10 PM. They are still in the midst of their shakedown cruise apparently and things are in some flux. But I think they are a unique addition to the Downtown fare.. read more

A party of eight arrived on 08/17/24 for an 11:30 reservation. Got seated at noon because the only table big enough for eight was occupied. Waitress promptly brought water, took drink orders ( the spicy citrus Bloody Marys were very good), and then took food orders. At 1:00 pm our food had not been served. We inquired and were told there were two tickets ahead of ours, and our orders had not been started. During the time we were waiting for our food, at least two other parties were seated, ordered, and served. Our server apologized profusely, but we paid our drink tab left. Was informed AN HOUR after seating that they hadn't even started our food yet, because the kitchen was "backed up" but people who had come in after us already had their food. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, for its food, atmosphere and service. If you haven't been, you must! I don't live in Lynchburg; I am there every other weekend, and sometimes I'm at Cosmos twice in a single weekend. The menu was recently expanded. Being a born and raised southerner, I've eaten a lot of fried chicken. They have the BEST chicken I've ever had, and it's consistently fabulous. read more

Have been here twice and trying to like it but it appears there is a lack of management & an absentee owner (or vice-versa). The first time the food was good but had a new server who wasn't fully trained. The bartender/manager assisted her and we finally got fed and were able to pour our beers. Went back again recently and the entire restaurant was staffed by the hostess, the bartender/waiter & the cook. Three people on a Saturday night & still no owner in sight. They had no burgers available so it was chicken or chicken. Also, found out they had no kids menu offerings. The pour your own beer bar (beer by the ounce) which we love since you can try a couple of ounces before purchasing a full-size had a couple of empty kegs (same issue on 1st visit). The card you use for the beer has a limit on it which is somewhat understandable but it seems to be some random amount as our's stopped working @ $13.86 and we had 3 people using it. They will "recharge" it but kind of hard to since both visits there was only one employee who could do so. On a positive note, there is plenty of on-site parking, an open deck on the back and the food is actually good. We didn't punish the employees (via tip) on either visit as they were doing all they could. Their service was good considering how thin they were stretched. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning. read more
