Wow what a disappointment! Came here to try after reading such rave reviews and received less than satisfactory meals. Dover scallops and risotto - over cooked risotto (almost mush consistency), burnt butter on the scallop sear. I decided to send the dish back because the scallops were not seared well and undercooked in the middle. Server comes back after talking to the kitchen and the response was "if I was sure I wanted the scallops to be remade because they are a high cost menu item" or something to that line. Ended up ordering a sausage pasta with broccoli rabe, and that was equally dissatisfying with the lack of balance with the bitterness of the rabe and pasta sauce. I have never had such amazing Italian food. Went here for a date and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was intimate and relaxing. There were plenty of semi-private nooks spread around. It was, unsurprisingly, full of diners. The menu isn't large, and it does not need to be. What they have done is perfected each dish on their menu. Rich, full of flavor. Meat cooked to the perfect point where texture and melt-in-your-mouth meet. Pasta just right. Friendly staff. I really like that the waitress knew exactly what she is talking about- because part of working there is having to try every dish to get a crash course on what you are serving to the diners. I love coming to Costa. We sat at the bar, I ordered a chocolate martini, he ordered an old fashioned. To start, we tried the crab stuffed mushrooms. Outstanding!! We both said we would get these next time. For dinner, he went with the stuffed banana peppers. I do not like banana peppers so I ordered the bolognese. Both of our dinners were outstanding. I heard good things about dining at Costa and was excited to be able to finally get in and experience the amazing food and service. Devon was our server and she provided excellent service throughout our delicious meal. The ambiance is cozy with dim lighting and booth and table seating. Delicious warm Italian bread in a basket and olive oil is served for the table. The Sausage and Broccoli Rabe appetizer is one of the best I have eaten anywhere. They use fennel sausage and the Broccoli Rabe was cooked to perfection. The Classic Bolognese Rigatoni with slow braised beef, veal and pork was simply delicious. Again, one of the better Bolognese dishes I have had. Costa has mouth watering daily specials listed on a large board and professionally presented by the servers. The staff were so pleasant and we were even lucky enough to have a chef as our waiter! Such a cute place with a hidden gem feel. Loved the decor. Obviously the best part was the food. Chef gave us the best recommendations. I had the scallop scampi and it was so fresh and light. Others enjoyed the chicken parmigiano, chicken piccata, and spicy vodka penne. So happy to have stumbled upon Costa when visiting over the holidays! Fine dining and quality restaurants are difficult to find in the area but Costa had a wonderful menu, aesthetics, and options! We were seated at a table in a nook that felt semi private which was great for conversation and privacy. We had the house salad and crab stuffed mushrooms. The server said the salad dressing options to be balsamic vinaigrette although it was just balsamic vinegar which we would have went with something else should we have known but not a big deal. The crab stuffed mushrooms are delicious and I'd recommend an extra order if it's more than 2! The bread was fresh and crisp. As for entrees- my parents raved about the veal parmigiana- they loved it. I had the scallops with risotto and the scallops seemed a bit undercooked and the risotto overpowered with garlic and extremely filling. I think a smaller portion would have done just fine. Costa's food is amazing, being from NJ I'm used to good Italian food and costa is just as good if not better than Jersey Italian. So good we went twice in one week! When you sit down your served a basket full of delicious warm bread with olive oil. We shared two orders of the shrimp crostini appetizer, one of the best things I've ever eaten! Sooooo good. I had the chicken saltimbuca, delicious! My son had fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, the pasta was amazing. Also, all entrees come with your choice of soup or salad which is a nice touch. Truth be told, this is probably one of my favorite meals I've ever had on vacation. While upscale, this was the perfect date night spot with their dimly lit interior and delicious, quality seafood and pasta. I love any kind of bread service so I was so excited when we got started with that. We also got the mussels and meatballs as an appetizer. Both were absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend. For an entree I got the grouper over linguine with a lemon sauce. Literally what dreams are made of. They couldn't have cooked the grouper better if they tried and the sauce I could drink. My sister in law let me try her scallops and that's probably also one of the best scallops I've ever eaten. And I've never seen a scallop as big as these were. My husband got the crab cakes and I was a little thrown off by the zucchini diced up inside them but the pasta his came with had an incredible sauce. My brother got the pasta a la vodka and I absolutely loved the spice in the sauce. It made it crave-able. Our waiter was such a sweet guy and very attentive. We wanted for nothing. The ambiance was also very sexy sleek - a style I quite enjoy. I cant wait to come back to Costa when I'm in the Murrells Inlet area for another fantastic experience. read more

This meal was a while back, but it was definitely one of the most memorable ones of the past year. I went to Night of a thousand candles at Brookgreen Gardens and decided to make a vaca of it by getting a hotel nearby instead of driving back to Charleston. I booked a room at the Murrells Inlet Sports Lodge and started looking for a place for dinner. I realized in my search that Costa was actually on property which was perfect for our short timeline. We made a late reservation so we had time to go to the lights and then change before dinner. Even if you're not staying next door, I would suggest Costa for dinner, but if you are staying next door it's a must. You can walk across the parking lot and you're there! It was a chilly night so walking up to a fire going outside was nice, but we didn't spend much time because we were seated for our reservation right away. The inside gives off a coastal fishing vibe but in a classier sort of way. A bottle of Malbec with some bread and oil and we were off to a good start. We couldn't decide on apps so we had the Shrimp Olivia and a nightly special burrata salad with prosciutto and pistachio. The we had soups instead of salads with our meals and had one tomato basil and one pasta fasuli. I also decided to order an espresso martini since I didn't have to drive. For entrees we had the pan seared diver scallops served over a mushroom risotto with hazelnuts and arugula and the nightly fish special which was grouper that evening. And to finish it off, we had the special pistachio cheesecake. This was a ton of food and we were there for close to three hours, but I can honestly say that everything we ate from the bread all the way to dessert was absolutely fantastic. The Shrimp Olivia was like a bruschetta with shrimp on it and the burrata salad had perfectly runny curds inside. The flavor on both soups were insane and the scallops (which is one of my favorite foods) were delightful. The service was amazing and even though we were there until close, we never felt rushed. I've eaten at plenty of places in this area and if you're looking for an over the top amazing dinner, I can't recommend Costa enough. read more

I took my Mom here for dinner last night, and I was pleasantly surprised, at how excellent everything was. Our server was very efficient, and attentive without hovering. We started with Tomato Basil soup, that was very good, and I had the house salad with gorgonzola cheese dressing, that was ice cold, fresh and tasted very similar to bleu cheese, and that also was very good. The fresh hot bread with Olive oil and herbs, was hot and crusty. My mother had a Pinot Grigio, and I had a Long Island ice tea, and they were very good. Our entrees for myself was the Spicy Penne pasta, my mother had the linguine and veal, which we both enjoyed very much, and we split an excellent piece of tiramisu that's made in house, and with the service and food quality and comfortable restaurant, it was well worth the price. We arrived on Sunday evening before 7, and were seated right away, without a reservation. I highly recommend and my Mother as well, Highly Recommend Costa, we'll be back. 5/5 stars. read more

While on vacation in Murrells inlet SC, I wanted to celebrate my birthday with some high end seafood. After some research we landed on Costa as our choice. This is actually an Italian restaurant that happens to have some great seafood options. And moat important us is that they had gluten-free pasta options. Costa delivered. The appetizers were great. The burrata was the winner by far with grilled peaches and prosciutto. We all had great seafood and pasta dishes. One was a crab and pasta with a lemon sauce. Another was a shrimp scampi on pasta. I had the shrimp Fra diablo on the pasta (again all pasta was gluten-free). The scampi for me was the winner. The lemon, butter and white wine sauce was done with perfect balance. We brought our own wines and the charged $18 per bottle corkage fee - wasn't happy about that but in the end I wanted to ensure we had the perfect wines and we did. Overall, I loved the place and the food. If/when we get back to this area, this will be high on our list for dinner (as in probable in the top 3) read more

Pretty disappointed here. Bread was crunchy and soft. Oil to dip was well seasoned. Burrata was very good. The mix of flavors and textures really sold the dish. Side salad with Gorgonzola was great too. Simple salad but dressing was the winner. Here's where the disappointment comes in: Pasta is all 100% from a box and not cooked Al dente There is no kids menu. I'm sorry, what? It took over an hour to get our food. Kids ordered buttered pasta with shrimp or chicken and one ordered Alfredo with shrimp. Kids portions are VERY small. My one daughter got about 1/2 cup of pasta total. Shrimp for kids was way too seasoned. Covered in what looked like blackening seasoning. Chef should know better. This is for a kid, not for your palate. Kids portion came with 3 shrimp. Ok, they're decent sized. 3 of the kids meals cost $20 EACH one was $11 WHAT?!? These kids meals were so sad they shouldn't have cost $20 for 4 Absolute insanity Chicken Francese was very wet and lacked solid flavor. The breading was peeling and mush. All I could hear in my head was Gordon Ramsey saying "wow wow wow wow" as he tipped the plate side to side. Please do not go here with kids without asking for kids pricing first.
