Hostess has horrible communication skills as does the manager. We were told 45 minute wait was closer to an hour and half or more . No reasonable explanation. Unfortunately reflection on all the Gios Italian kitchen locations. The American flag is in ripped torn and weathered needs replacing immediately. This is a disgrace. My meal was a salad with scallops. I requested no scallions/ onions which was overlooked unfortunately. This was some incredible Italian. And it was pretty packed for a Sunday night IMO!! To start we had complimentary bread that was really good, and we also had some pumpkin spice martinis (incredible). Loved the food, our server, Bethany and everything about this meal from start to finish!! My daughter ordered the mama's lasagna which was so good!! Layers of pasta with cheese and veal. Delicious!!!! She got the Lavender blossom martini and I got a Hurricane. Both were refreshing and fantastic! I got two appetizers as my meal, the burrata caprese and charcuterie. First time, a lower than 4/5 star review by me in 6 years!! We have been going to Gios for 6 years and unfortunately, not my favorite any longer. I ordered the Spaghetti Di Tornola and had a 1 1/2 " piece of lobster claw meet, 3 shrimp and 3 scallops, minimal pasta, as noted in picture, very disappointing. Ordered take out last Saturday. I tipped 10% to make sure my order was correct. I got home and they left my wife's entree out of the bag. I called to let them know it wasn't here and the girl had no idea. I went back to pick it up and the manager comes out and shakes my hand and says he's sorry. He did nothing for me. I got home and my food was cold and my wife's was cold as well because they didn't remake it. It was the same one they forgot to give me. Absolutely awful. I've been here a ton and this was the first time I was ever upset. Update: I was contacted by the GM and she was extremely apologetic and was going to take care of this. The food was delicious! I had Chicken Marsala (best I have had in SC) and my husband enjoyed one of the specials of the evening, seafood scampi! Cocktails, salad, bread w/ olive oil, and our entrees were all top notch! We were too full to order dessert. Ambiance was wonderful! Good music playing in the background. Service was superb! We try to come to Gio's almost every time we come to Pawleys. It's one of my favorite Italian restaurants ever. Everything is good here. Last time I got the penne alla vodka and it was incredible. I have also have had chicken Parmesan, chicken marsala and the mare e monte. All really good. read more

Well deserved five stars. We were in a bit of a rush on a Friday evening - theater tickets. Asked if we could be out in an hour. Answer was "of course" so we took a seat in an elegantly appointed dining room. White table cloths, real napkins and were immediately served a delicious, hot, crusty bread with an olive oil/balsamic dip. The balsamic reduction was placed on the plate in the restaurant's logo. We knew right away what was to come would be great. Chicken Marsala was awesome. Three small chicken breasts with an amazing marsala reduction with mushrooms. Served over fettuccine noodles. The flavor was incredible. Chicken was cooked perfectly - tender and juicy. Chicken Parmesan was equally as good. Lightly breaded chicken, covered with cheese and an fresh made tomato sauce. Also served with house made spaghetti. Broccolini soup was rich and tasty. Fresh salad was just right. Served with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Portions were more than ample. Wine list was extensive. Our server was so sweet and kind. She acknowledged right away we were in a hurry. She was attentive, but not in a rush. We were out the door with time to spare. Prices were reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. Chicken entrees were in the $19 to $23 range. House wines were $7 and $8 a glass. Took a weekend trip to Pawleys Island, and found this restaurant off of yelp. On the website, it says to book through OpenTable and it said that there was no space but decided to call and they were able to give us a reservation for two- same night. The ambience both outside and in is amazing. My boyfriend and I were able to take a precious photo in the terrace garden area. The food was absolutely impeccable. The meatballs were mouthwatering and the pasta was delicious. I was also extremely impressed with the pricing of such a nice restaurant. Decided to eat here on Mother's Day Sunday without a reservation. Place was very busy but they managed to find us a table. My veal Marsala was good but not great. Sauce was a bit thin. The burrata caprese appetizer was fantastic though. The basil popped when mixed with the other ingredients. I opted for the $7 cannoli which was actually two mini ones for dessert. Nothing special. Tasted like a standard cannoli except they committed the ultimate cannoli faux pas. It was hollow in the middle! Definitely wouldn't order those again. Stopped here on the way back to charleston after seeing night of a thousand candles at brookgreen gardens (highly recommend that!) This food was delicious! I haven't found a great Italian restaurant down in Charleston, but this place checks the box. The bread, the dipping oil, the pasta, it was all wonderful. (I'm also reviewing this 3 Months later so that's how you know it was a memorable experience) The service was fantastic and the dining room was decorated for Christmas which made it nice and cozy to complete our date night. I think this will be a yearly tradition to stop on the way up to see the lights. read more

Our family stopped here for dinner during thanksgiving week. They started us with bread and olive oil. The olive oil started with the logo of the restaurant in the bottom of the oil, which was really cool. After the bread, we ordered some appetizers. My favorite was the fried mozzarella (Mozzarella In Carrozza) with marinara sauce. My meal was the chicken Alfredo. Overall, it was good. Sometimes that option can be too salty for my taste, but their sauce was good. Overall, the meal was good. The service was pretty good. The food was the delicious! The service from the moment we arrived was the worst I have had I a very long time! We had a reservation and the two hostesses did not say a single word to us! Finally one said follow me, lead us to a table, handed us a menu and walked away with out a word. We then were served water by a busboy and proceeded to sit there for 15 minutes before our waiter acknowledged us. She took our drink orders and asked if we were ready to order. We didn't even know they had specials until we heard another waiter sharing them with the table next to us! The Grand Strand is filled with Italian restaurants and grows each year as transplants from the metro New York area make their way south. This is a standout! We went into Gio's on a Saturday night without a reservation. We did end up sitting at the bar to eat and that worked out so well. Brandt was the bartender that night and a very personable young man with a beautiful smile. Brandt was very busy but attentive. The food was excellent. I should have taken pictures but we ate it too fast oh! They have a pear and elderflower spritz that is VERY close to a Hugo spritz which I can never find when we go out.
