Real authentic Italian food in Myrtle Beach! Being from Jersey I'm pretty picky with Italian food in more southern states but I was extremely impressed with Luigi's! The food was fresh, delicious, nice ambiance inside. I had the lobster ravioli and the sauce was definitely house made - the bruschetta had fresh tomatoes which was also a delicious appetizer. I was able to wear a vacation dress and small heels but you're also able to come in more relaxed clothing too. Easy to dress up or down. Service was efficient and the staff was very nice! Food- the specials were pricey. Plating was sloppy in my book. Nothing special and spent almost $50/plate. I had the special OsoBuco. Meat was actually excellent. Heavy sauce and the risotto that I picked was terrible. Better with mashed taters. My bad choice. No veggies. The other special was Lollipop lamb chops. Very good meat. Plating again was nothing special and spending almost $50 again. So I expect a little time spent to plate and make it look special. The appetizer. The bruschetta was not good at all. Bread was tasting stale. And the cheese was just ok. Very disappointing. The table bread on the other hand was excellent and warm and the dipping herb olive oil was really good and tasty. It's really really good! For starters we had Limoncello Mojito & Limoncello Spritz. Go with the Mojito. We ordered the calamari appetizer and struck gold! The best calamari we have EVER had served with a huge wedge of lemon and topped with banana peppers accompanied by a dish of house marinara. It's to die for! For dinner we split the Penne Ala-Vodka w/shrimp and our side was the house salad with house Italian. Both amazing dishes but that dressing took our breath away. Our server Tristan was good. I couldn't comprehend why a piece of lemon cake was $10.00 like the Tortuffo I got. Two totally different desserts. I enjoyed the early bird special stuffed raviol. Went here for the 1st time on Wednesday December 24th 2025 with my parents. For Christmas Eve, we decided on a nice italian dinner. We also made reservations in advance. It is in myrtle beach located next to a food Lion. It serves Italian fare food. Note for me this review is 4 to 5 stars. Once we found the place, we went inside and was greeted by a host. It is a somewhat big restaurant with a bunch of tables and a small bar. We were sat somewhat near the kitchen at a table. Our server Lisa greeted us right away. She served us waters, and also told us the specials for the day. My mom got a Limoncello Spritz, my dad got a titos with sprite, and I got a shirley temple. We also started with Fried Calamari and stuffed artichokes. We looked at the menu, and they had some fish dishes, lots of pasta dishes and chicken and veal, even some salads too! Appetizers came out in a timely manner. Calamari was very tender and delicious! Loved it! Then came time to order entrees: Now all entrees come with either soup or salad. I ordered the Lingini With Mussels with pasta figoli soup, my dad ordered the Seafood Fri Diablo with a house salad with balasmic, and my mom ordered the special of stuffed chicken breast with a house salad and balasmic. Soup and salad came out right away. Unfortunately I didn't really like my pasta figoli soup as much, the soup was more like a minestrone type style of soup, and I like ones with the thicker texture, such as ones from Olive Garden. However I did eat it, and liked the warm cup too! Our server Lisa was also good at refilling our waters, and checking on us too! Before you know it, our entrees came out! Except one thing: my meal came out with shrimp, and I didn't want Mussels with shrimp- now Lisa did apologize for it, and my dad ate my shrimp, but just be careful when putting in orders when It is busy! (trust me, used to be a server know it happens!) I really enjoyed my mussels. Now when i went to taste my pasta, i didn't really like it and thought it tasted weird, like it was not aldente. Also noticed some clumps of Garlic cubes in the pasta. Now I'm not quite the fan of Garlic, maybe that's why i didn't like it. My parents liked their food at least. Anyways, we then got some leftover containers to take home my food. Glad I at least liked the Mussels, and the Calamari! We then paid the check with a credit card. My wife and I have been here twice on our visits to Myrtle Beach and we love everything about this place. Service is good. Food is good. (I recommend the gnocchi.) There's no shortage of Italian restaurants in Myrtle Beach, and many of them have decently high ratings on both Yelp and Google. Luigi's Trattoria jumped out since they take reservations, are rated well, and offered a Yelp check in discount, so that sealed the deal for our choice for dinner. The interiors are a bit stereotypically Italian, but work as the rooms each have a distinctly different theming. Meals start off with complimentary bread and olive oil. We ordered the mozzarella cheese sticks to start off. These weren't the best, as they were a very familiar frozen variety kind with thick breading that lacked flavor and couldn't be redeemed by the accompanying marinara sauce. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, cheese ravioli, and chicken marsala, each of which came with soup or salad. He tomato basil soup was well liked by my dining companions, but the caesar salad was underwhelming with a somewhat watery dressing that didn't have much flavor. The chicken parmigiana was cooked well with a decent breaded chicken, but both the tomato and alfredo sauces lacked the flavor profile that I'm accustomed to with great Italian eateries in the NJ/NY area. My dining companions remarked that the chicken marsala was excellent and the cheese ravioli was good, but not great. Grading on a regional curve, I'd give Luigi's Trattoria a 3.5/5, but happy to round up for the attentive and friendly service. I really don't have any basis of comparison with other Italian restaurants in Myrtle Beach, but Luigi's Trattoria is worth a shot if you're in the mood for some decent Italian food. read more

We received a 'personal' recommendation from the owner of a small bar not far from it. We were deliberately looking for a place for dinner that we had never been to. This place was 'discovered very accidentally. We had been wandering and touristing so stopped in for a beer and cocktail. As we were sitting relaxing we struck up a conversation with the owner of the bar. Asking about nearby places that are good. Luigi's was recommended, plus I was only a half block away. Discovered that most of the time getting in without a reservation is difficult. But, we were there in the 'between' season, after the summer crowd and before the fall group. White linen tablecloths, very good silver, plus waiters who actually knew the menu. My wife had the Shrimp Marinara and I Baked Lasagna. She told me later that when the food arrived she was skeptical because of the appearance, but once she took a bite absolutely loved it. Said the marinara sauce did not look like that which she was used to but said to was the BEST she had ever. My experience was similar because when the lasagna was placed in front of me.........I looked and wondered. The norm I had eaten was more of a stack of pasta, but this was different. Like my wife, once I started eating there was a 'WOW" factor. The taste was full, meaning all the way thru the pasta and not layers. We also had a glass of wine and asked the waiter for an opinion and recommendation. He was informed and gave an accurate description and it was also better than most we have had. I reference a similar experience with a restaurant we went to in Lincoln, NE with the same description and the wine was so bad we left it and didn't even finish the glass,let alone buying a bottle that was nowhere near what was asked for. We made reservations before and they easily accommodate large parties. There were several larger parties there when we were, and the food and service was still quick and efficient. Eggplant appetizer was very yummy! Mozzarella sticks were good. We loved the complimentary bread and their olive oil! Frutti de Mare was just okay, I wouldn't order it again. So there were good points and so-so points and no bad points. This was hard to rate because I usually weight the food heaviest in my ratings. And the entree and dessert were only 3 and 2 stars respectively. But considering the overall experience, and knowing I could try something different from the large menu next time, in this case I rounded up - 4 stars overall. The dining room was what you'd expect for a mid-level Italian restaurant: dark wood tones, fake architectural columns, decorated with Italian posters, clean white tablecloths. Not too cliche though. It was also rather loud. I was greeted and escorted to my table. Being in a corner out of view of most of the room I momentarily worried if I'd be forgotten there, especially because I was dining solo. But no. My waiter arrived quickly, and checked at sufficient but not obtrusive intervals. Though he seemed new at the job, his enthusiasm made up for it. He answered my questions about the dishes completely and accurately, assisted by his notes. He was also a "quiet talker" and had a heavy accent but we made it work. And, he remembered instantly the obscure (to me) Italian wine I ordered which I had forgotten when I needed a second glass. Speaking of wine: A very large selection of by the glass, organized by color and country of origin. Not the typical list. My Bertani valpolicella was excellent. Complimentary bread was provided: very good, warmed and wrapped in a towel. A dish of herbed, garlicky olive oil, much more than is usually provided, was excellent. I often skip the bread but in this case with the herbed oil it was so good that I actually ate a good amount; no appetizer course needed. Salad was brought next: romaine with cucumber and tomato, with Italian dressing on the side. Good greens, good dressing. My entree was next: Veal Saltimbocca, and spaghetti with marinara on the side. As I said, disappointing but not exactly bad. The veal was properly thin medallions but seemed to lack flavor and the texture was tougher than I expected. The sauce seemed pasty - too much thickener? - and was underseasoned. I appreciated the large amount of mushrooms and spinach in the dish. The accompanying spaghetti was cooked to a perfect al dente but the marinara was very disappointing: not much flavor other than tomatoes and garlic (they do love garlic here - and so do I)! Portion size was generous. I got a second, smaller meal from the leftovers. Returning to the room and ambience for a moment: This isn't the restaurant's fault but some of the clientele could use some lessons in manners and dress. A good number people were underdressed in denims, tee shirts, baseball caps, and the like. And people noisily using their cell phones - not cool. Just so you know. Hey, I was camping but at least I brought a change of clothes and made myself presentable. Is that too much to ask? Dessert: spumoni ice cream. Unfortunately that's all it was: a dish of ice cream, and the flavors were weak. At other Italian eateries I've had spumoni desserts that were visual works of art, beautiful to look at, with sauces or other add-ons to elevate to something memorable. Not this. Probably worth a visit if you're in the mood for leisurely Italian dining and especially if you want some good wines with your meal. read more

Luigi's Trattoria is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area. It is located one building off of Kings Highway (17) on the north side of Myrtle Beach proper (as opposed to the town of North Myrtle Beach, which is another 10 miles or so north). It doesn't have one of those giant touristy signs to try to attract the tourists. It's not hard to find but you won't find it unless you heard about it from another person or an online review. On my most recent visit I inquired about their marsala sauce, and the waiter claimed that their marsala sauce was the best in the town. I have a weakness for marsala whether it's chicken or veal, so I opted to go with the waiter's recommendation. He was spot on. The veal was tender, and the marsala sauce was divine. For those of you that haven't tried it marsala is a semi sweet wine from Sicily that is fortified (meaning a spirit like Brandy has been added to the wine). Marsala is mostly used for cooking and baking rather than drinking straight. I once used it as a substitute in my homemade tiramisu and it came out marvelous. But my favorite way to have marsala is with a sauce. A traditional marsala sauce uses marsala wine, onions garlic, lots of mushrooms, bone broth, a few spices and sometimes another fortified wine like port. I am a huge cooked mushroom fan anyway, so marsala just takes the mushroom sauce to the next level. Serve marsala sauce over pasta with veal or chicken and you end up with a delicious meal. On a previous visit I tried their scallops with risotto, and that might be the best risotto I have ever had it. The risotto was so soft, rich and creamy and yet spiced mild so as not to overpower the scallops. I will admit on that trip that I was unable to finish the dish we took home a half portion for the next meal at home. Luigi's has an extensive wine list, and also serves beer and cocktails. We tried several of the cocktails and found them to be yummy. I wouldn't go as far as to say they cocktail bar; wine is definitely their strength, but for those of you like myself that don't drink much wine they have enough cocktails to intrigue you. For dessert, I had the tiramisu, which was solid traditional tiramisu except for a little chocolate sauce to appease Americans. Proper tiramisu does NOT need chocolate but at least Luigi's didn't drown it to the detriment of the mascarpone cheese in the cream layer that tastes so good. read more

Haven't been to Luigi's since it was the previous owner like 100 yrs ago. I can't say enough about this fabulous restaurant. Went at 5:15- did not know about early bird specials. Super reasonably priced, husband and I had the chicken Marsala with the Italian salad($2 extra from house but please get this -so worth it); delicious bread with the best olive oil fusion. The best martini I ever had! (Pistachio) best salad I ever had with house Italian dressing and probably the best chicken Marsala I ever had-husband ate the sauce with a spoon. Highly highly recommend even if you have to drive 30 minutes or more. Servers are fabulous from the hostess to all the staff visible. Every time we are in the area we will be there. Definitely hit there early bird from four to six p.m. as wntrees run from like 10 bucks to 20, and the portion sizes are still legit and will certainly satisfy most. You may be able to save as much as 10 dollars on your entree if you do the early bird action. This is not a formal restaurant, but it's not a beach bar either so most people are wearing long pants and a collared shirt, but sure, tourists are often dressed down and the owners are fine with it. Jeans are fine, but hoodies maybe a little too casual if that helps. Not a huge place, though you can make reservations through doing a Google search, which I'd suggest especially on Friday and Saturday. I always ask for a booth and am obliged. They do a happy hour at the bar area only (maybe 10 chairs at the bar and a few high tip tables there too). Glasses of house wine are 4 bucks and domestic beer bottles are 2 during happy hour. Lots and lots of American Italian offerings here and they do them quite well. All the sauces are homemade, but I don't belive the pastas are. They have some really nice seafood pasta selections and of course a full wine list. Their main menu is easily accessed through their website. Attentive service is provided and the food is delivered quickly. Everyone is friendly too and there's plenty of parking spaces in the lot out front. I felt fortunate that they were well staffed this last time visiting as so many restaurants in MB are understaffed much of the time and waits can be very long. The accordion playing fellow wasn't there this last time in, but he's definitely a regular and a treat as well. Luigi's won't blow your mind, but it's a very good spot if you want good American Italian, reasonable prices, and good service. It's certainly known by locals who frequent often. Overall my families visit was okay. We got seated right away but waiting to get our food and orders in is hard. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and the lighting was wonderful. For appetizers we got bruschetta and stuffed artichokes. The bruschetta really didn't have any flavor and the bread was kinda mushy. The artichokes were wonderful! However they breading was kinda flavorless as well. Our salads were kinda a let down. My parents Caesar salads were good but they came out warm. My garden salad just looked kinda lame and had a couple big slices of vegetables and that's it. My moms veal Parmesan was kinda chewy but the sauce on that and the spaghetti was very good. The fruitii de mari was okay. The sauce was very nice and the flounder was amazing. Desert was awesome! Best part of the whole meal. Giving it 5 stars but read the review. I had Ossobuco. My daughter the gnocchis, her boyfriend the lemon chicken special which were all excellent. My wife had penne alla vodka which was like none we have ever had before. We are both alla vodka lovers and know a good alla vodka. This sauce reminded me of my youth and a certain chef in a can and some pasta Os. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere. There has to be better Italian food in all of myrtle beach. Calamari was average, bruschetta was under seasoned and not good, escargot was the worst I have ever had and also lacking salt. The main courses were good but they were all luke warm. The bread and olive oil dip was the best part. Our group has had much better penne a la vodka. We wanted to try some really good Italian food during our stay in Myrtle Beach and this restaurant did not disappoint. From the Fried Calamari to the Chicken Penne A La Vodka, the food was delicious and very well prepared. The Tiramisu was toe curling yumminess and the staff was pleasant and quick. The parking is tight and so are the tables in the dining room, but the food and service definitely make it worth it.
