This place always hits my cravings for Peruvian food. The portions are always pretty generous, I don't usually eat a lot per meal so i can usually stretch out their plates for 2-3 meals. Their ceviche is always very consistent and very fresh. I love the side of sweet potato that it comes with. The pescado a la plancha is another healthy go to fish for me. I ask them to sub the white rice for a salad and they are always very accommodating. I usually like to order this with a side of purple onions and tomatoes that i then eat with the fish, to add a little extra flavor (not that it needs it tho). But my guilty pleasure when i need some comfort food, is their lomo saltado. OMG! White rice, french fries, tomatoes and steak. That's one of my favorite combinations of food and they do it so VERY well here! I more often then not call in my orders and they always have my food ready for me when they say they will! Roach in my salad. Saturday November 2nd 2019. My mom and my sister ordered something completely different than I did. I ordered a salad and some fried plantains. Once my food came out, I bit into the fried plantain and it was as hard as a brick. When I asked the server if he can please change them, he said those were the only ones they had left(meaning I must of got the last ones) So I asked for maduros (soft plantains) . He then went to the back to put the order in. I started eating my salad where I then saw the roach and I jumped off my seat. I believe it was dead but I felt so nauseous right away .My mom confirmed that what I saw was truly a roach . I literally ran out of the restaurant and my family followed shortly after. This was not my first visit there.. however, that will definitely be my last. Unfortunately these are the risk we take going into restaurants. Just be sure to check your food. read more

This place is small and a hidden gem but definitely worth the try. I had friends and family from out of town that wanted authentic and good Peruvian ceviche. We ordered the ceviche with octopus and shrimp, a ceviche with fish, a yuca frita, a lomo salteado with beef, noodles with seafood and a calamari dish. The ceviche was delicious! Everyone was satisfied and super happy with their choices. I definitely recommend it. It can get busy but the staff is extremely nice. read more

i'm sososo disappointed with my last visit here. i LOVE this place and they have the best peruvian food in miami lakes area. However their new blonde young server made my experience so bad i had to give a bad rating. First of all, she got our order wrong three times. She started bringing out dishes we hadn't ordered and then when we told her the order was wrong she gave lots of attitude. She gave us no refills of water (we're the only ones in the restaurant) and i had to bring up the pitchers to her to refill. I came here to be served, she's doing the exact opposite. She also left all our dirty appetizer plates on the table. i'm usually very understanding and sympathetic to new servers but her attitude matches her serving skills. She also doesn't know the menu. ima say it, either someone needs to properly train her or she needs to be fired. Im just very disappointed because i always suggest this place to others and frequently come here. Hopefully next time i will have the pleasure of not being served by the same server. read more

We are huge fans of Costa Peruana in my house and have been eating and picking up from here for a good 20 years, probably longer. It's a small, very homey place with great food and great service. We've had nearly everything in the menu over the years but our all time favorites are the Chaufa, fish and shrimp ceviche, Lomo saltado, The Jalea and the tamales with homemade hot sauce as an appetizer. Stay away at all cost!! I came here based on a co-workers recommendation, and I must say, it was a horrible experience. First of al the Yuca a la huancaina was not that good. The yuca was round, and the insides looked as if the yuca had been put it in a blender then fried. It looked like it was prepackaged and not fresh. The huancaina sauce was not that good either. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. The worst I have had. For dinner, my sister ordered ceviche, and I order Arroz con Camarron(rice with shrimp). The ceviche was salty to the point that my sister couldn't finish it. This is amazing, as my sister is a human vacuum cleaner for food. This woman eats anything, and she couldn't eat more than a few bites off her plate. My rice with shrimp was better than the ceviche. However, the shrimp had that freezer burn taste. They tried covering up the fact that it wasn't fresh be putting a lot of seasoning on it. The rice was ok, but it was clumping up like the way rice gets when it's has been refrigerated. When the waiter came by, he asked if my sister wanted to takeout the ceviche, and she explained that she could not eat it while pointing to a full plate of food. At a better restaurant, they would have comped the plate or given us a free desert, or just had a manager apologized. Instead the manager/host/owner/hostess?(i really can't tell you what he did there) was discussing an inappropriate story about a fight that had taken place with what is presumably, a co-worker, while that person mixed music on his Mac. I was initially going to give this place a 2-star review until I walked to my car and was hit with a tremendous urge to vomit. I paced by some bushes in case I needed to hurl. I never actually got to that point. However, I was feeling horrible on the way home. I went to drop my sister off at her house and immediately felt very sick. I had to get off and stay at her home. I got dizzy, nauseous, sweating profusely and with horrible abdominal pains. I couldn't leave the toilet. This restaurant is the single worst experience I have had, I would not recommend this place to anyone, except the co-worker who suggested it. Started a job recently around Miami Lakes so I've been trying different ethnic foods I enjoy, one of my top faves is Peruvian, yelped it found Costa Peruana, had 4 1/2 stars so I decided to give it a shot. First of all, Yelp has it wrong, It's closed on Mondays, naturally I went there on a Monday to try it for the first time, and nearly dislocated my shoulder when I pulled on the door handle *CLUNK* locked... god damn it. Went back the next day and I'm glad I did. When I go to a Peruvian place I have 2 items before I decide its good or bad (unless the first one is horrible then no dice for the 2nd) Those 2 items are: Fish Ceviche Spicy, and Lomo Saltado. So.. first up Ceviche de Pescado The Food: The Ceviche was very fresh, cilantroy, citrusy, very spicy (I asked for it spicy, and next time i'll order medium.. holy crap I was crying in rocoto goodness, and I can handle spicy) I even ate the leche-de-tigre-soaked lettuce bed... I took a bunch of it home, and it traveled well.. it was still delicious and not rubbery the next day. On my 2nd visit I ordered the Lomo Saltado: and it was fantastic. the fries were crispy even under the savory meat sauce for the entire 30 seconds it took me to gobble up the whole thing.. The onions were crisp, the tomatoes juicy, and served hot, their green spicy sauce is amazing too. their Canchas are great too served nice and hot. Papa a la Huancaina is good too. Some colleagues ordered the Arroz Amarillo con Camarones and the Camarones enchilados and the tallarin and everything looked solid as can be!.. Not the cheapest of places, BUT you order any sea food or rice dish and you're ordering for 2 or for guaranteed leftovers.. Hooray for this place, makes me miss Divino Ceviche a bit less. I solely tried this spot because of its yelp reviews and proximity to our house. Unfortunately I was not impressed. Service was very slow and not too attentive. What really turned me off about this place was their lack of canchas (toasted corn) at the table. What kind of Peruvian does not serve canchitas for free? We started with the shrimp and fish ceviche. I'm a shrimp lover so I immediately went to town on the shrimp, not knowing what was on the other side of the plate, before i knew it I ate the majority of the shrimp. I did not imagine that 5 pieces of shrimp was more than half of what it brought. My poor hubby was left with 4 pieces. Flavor wise, id give it 2 stars. Not enough cilantro for my taste. We decided to share the Lomo Salteado and a chicken choufa between my daughter, him and I. Needless to say there was plenty of food left over. The choufa was not as tasty but it did have a lot of chives and onions so if you like onions then great, if your picky about greens then this is not the choufa for you! The lomo was tasty but tougher than im used to. I must be partial to Sabor a Peru because it just did not compare. If you're in the Miami Lakes/PSN area and are in the mood for Peruvian than this will do but if your specifically looking for authentic great Peruvian, drive the extra 20 mins to Midtown and eat at Sabor a Peru. A home away from home. This place serves EXCELLENT Peruvian Cuisine. The ceviche is top-notch and I love the Lomo Saltado. Service is a little slow because they make each meal to order. The service is excellent and they really get to know you. I've had the ceviche, lomo and pollo saltado (beef/chicken stir-fry with french fries), chupe de mariscos (cream-based soup with seafood), tallarines verde con bistec (basil pesto pasta with steak), and various tamales - all of which were prepared perfectly. The only drawbacks were the slow kitchen and hefty price but otherwise it's just like (or better than) Mom used to make! read more

We started with stuffed tostones. Really good empanada-looking with gooey cheese inside. Yum! Then we split a fish ceviche and a grilled fish with rice and salad. The ceviche was tasty and plentiful. I really wanted some Peruvian food and I had seen this restaurant in that shopping center months ago and figured my husband and I would try it this week. I really wanted aji de gallina but was disappointed to learn that they had sold out. We decided to stay and try some of the other dishes. We were not disappointed! my husband decided to have a shrimp dish and I decided to have a steak dish. It was very flavorful and delicious! we also ordered an appetizer of potato in their yellow cheese sauce and it was amazing! We were not disappointed with this experience ! The waiter was very attentive and nice. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated, its has booths and tables. We will definitely be returning to this location. read more

Service was very good. The lomo saltado I ate I would give it from 1 to 10, a 3.5. The meat they use is the cheapest kind in the market, called cañada. It is dry and tough. The presentation sucked! It really looked as if somenone that doesnt cook would have served me in a rush. The choros a la chalaca were OK but needed a little more flavor. Will never come here again. P.S. This is actually our family's go to, it is family owned and ran, as soon as you open the door you feel like you just walked in to their home. No matter when you go, even when it is busy they are always welcoming and very attentive. I can't choose a favorite meal as they make many Peruvian dishes very well, I think I may have eaten them all by now, fried whole fish, grilled fish fillet, arroz con camarones, chaufa, jalea, I can go on. The food is fresh and reasonably priced. For dessert we always have a suspiro and take one to go. read more

I had some Peruvian Vegetable noodles because duh - noodles are the best thing in the world but the hubs had an authentic Peruvian dish (which my dad who has been to Peru approve the authenticity) even the cola is authentic. It is a small place that you would pretty much miss or not even look at twice but it's worth stepping in and having a seat. Perfectly quaint and I have to say the service was exceptional. read more

Ate here last weekend and the Jalea was great. It went well with their beer which I forget the name of. Beware of the size of the Jalea. Its meant for 2-3 people. It's got different types of fried seafood. Place is kinda small but Its not a big deal read more
