When you walk in you notice the vibrant light inviting colors and decor! Very clean inside and good looked fresh upon going in line, it has a similar feel as chipotle as in build your own bowl or burrito! Tortillas are made fresh here!! Yum I got the Baja Bowl with steak and all the fixings! They got a steak burrito and to drink we had a tea and horchata is one of my favorites that I've had in a while! But i haven't been there in a bit and decided to stop in. (Too many Angie's openings! lol). So I noticed in line the person loading the meat into the tins had a small scale that they put the tray on and then the meat. It's now being weighed out. And that's not a good thing. I got a small salad with chicken and could barely find the chicken. They kept the prices the same at $7.99 but the meat portion has shrunk. Our family loves Costa Vida! It's one of those spots that we can enjoy good, fresh food that our kids will actually eat! We are big fans of the sweet pork in any of the meals, but the other meats are also delicious. The veggies are always crisp and fresh. It is easy to customize the meal for your dietary restrictions when ordering in store! I like to get the sweet pork salad with corn chips instead of the tortilla, because I am gluten free. After hearing great things about Costa Vida, I finally had the opportunity to try it out today for lunch. The vibe was clean, bright and baja to me. The team behind the counter were all friendly and willing to show us the ropes in how to move through the line. I liked the concept of ordering the entree, then them building it the way you want it. We ordered burritos, I got steak in red sauce, the Hubs got grilled chicken with a verde sauce. We got some delicious mango salsa on the side. The burritos were so good! The ingredients were fresh, the burritos were huge and tasty. We ordered the Wednesday special to go for my Dad -- two chicken enchiladas. I am definitely coming back. I am not a fan of Chipotle, and to me this place is nothing like it... but maybe that is my own bias. I will come back, for sure as I saw a lady eating a salad that looked awesome! read more

Not bad, and not great. The ingredients are fresh and nicely prepared, but my chicken breast burrito was pretty bland and unexciting (warning: this is not a pick-up-with-your-hands burrito - it's loosely wrapped, and mine fell apart when I picked it up. Use a fork and knife.). This is not really "Mexican food." As a white man from the Midwest, this strikes me as a Midwestern white man's interpretation of Mexican food. I could not taste any cumin or garlic, or the tomatillo salsa verde at all. There was absolutely no heat (maybe I should have added salsa roja). The tortillas are not traditional - they're more like the flatbread produced by Mission Tortillas in your local store. I did like them, though. The restaurant is comfortable and clean, and the staff is friendly and capable. I do like being able to select fillings as they go along. Considering that Tucson is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, and is world-famous for amazing, authentic Mexican cuisine, there are much better options in town. This is just okay. read more

This is the second time I've been here and my experience was a little better. The first time around, I was a little confused as to what comes with certain dishes and what is extra, as it isn't all listed on the menu. After browsing on their app I got a better idea about what I was gonna get. (I don't like holding up lines trying to figure out what I want). Speaking of using their app, you can get $4 off your order if you're a first time user, which is great because their prices are set just a little higher than similar fast food places. The portions are pretty big though, particularly the burritos, so that offsets things a little bit as well. I got the current Sunday Special - sweet pork enchiladas with a side of (refried) beans and cilantro rice. They're not shy with the cheese, which I liked. The sweet pork is, well... sweet. I know, it's in the flippin name but it was sweeter than I was expecting, but still pretty good. My whole lunch ended up being pretty sweet because I got some Horchata to drink and their chocolate chip cookie. (BTW, the cookie was baked just 90 minutes before I ordered it. That's pretty fresh.) I also used a bit of their Chili Lime Cholula sauce and that added a really good flavor to the rice and beans, not that they really needed it. The Horchata was pretty good as well, but I'm not really a connoisseur of the stuff. The food was pretty good, and I will return, but I will definitely get a different type of meat on my next visit. I stopped in for chicken tortilla soup while I was in Tucson. The chicken tortilla soup is so flavorful they start with rice in the bottom then add chunks of chicken breast cooked to perfection yet still unbelievably juicy. And then you can have whatever toppings you like cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo. And then they finish it with tortilla strips. It was amazing. I will be back. read more

Picked up a to go order tonight. Not only was it almost 20 minutes late, but the order was wrong or missing things. Firstly, the nachos had no queso on them. It was just a slop of meat in the middle surrounded by fragments of chips, as if they had used the bottom of the chip bag you have sitting in your pantry from two weeks ago. We also had ordered an extra side of tomatillo dressing that didn't make it into the bag, but it sure made it onto the bill! Then our kids meal had the wrong beans in it and the cinnamon tortilla was actually just a plain tortilla. Yep, just a plain tortilla wrapped in aluminum foil. Not sure how someone could mess that up but they found a way! Pretty disappointing considering we are big Costa Vida fans at other locations. read more

This is definitely a great go to place for a fresh tasting lunch/dinner. They have a lot to choose from on their menu and their steak is tasty! They also have great desserts! Their chocolate chip cookie and their tres leches cake are my favorite! If you want a great lunch/dinner without breaking the bank and compromising on the quality and freshness of the food, this is the place to go! They also cater, which is great for an office party or special event. Their catering includes delivery, set up and all the utensils and plates which is extremely helpful. Oh my God, this place is great. I'm from San Diego and have access to great authentic Mexican food. When my son-in-law recommended we stop for Mexican food at Costa Vida, I was hesitant. He told me not to be a Mexican food snob and give it a try. I'm happy that I did. The good was great, some of the best that I've had. I have traveled throughout the world and it's true, I'm a food snob. Just because San Diego offers great authentic Mexican food doesn't mean that it's not available elsewhere. Chipotle-like, but with a few pleasant twists. Customized burritos, tacos or salads, in bowls or tortillas with your choice of meats (including shrimp), veggies and condiments, for $8-10 each... but with a signature twist: - Everything comes in a tin pie pan so you can simply let your burrito fall apart. - Because of the pie tin, Costa Vida also gives you the option of having everything grilled on a large flat iron stove or having it enchilada style (sauce/cheese on top) and then flash-baked in your pie tin! Drinks are fountain style and everything is self serve -- from ordering, to utensils, to clean-up. Yes, the cashier will spin the display tablet around and say "it'll ask you a question"... i.e., do you want to add a tip. I wrestle with this "its question" whenever I am the one acting as both my own waiter AND busboy. I did tip but just a heads up if you charge your meal. Plenty of cafeteria-style seating; ample free; and there is one large, clean bathroom for each gender. My final opinion: I still prefer Chipotle because I think there is a little bit more meat and the entrees are about a $1 less but this is a good alternative, especially if you like the enchilada option! read more

My to-go bowl - Baja bowl with the goodness of cilantro rice , pinto beans, grilled veggies and chicken with roasted green Chile sauce was yumm ! All employees were following guidelines. The ordering style is quite similar to chipotle but with a good amount of different choices and style. We both enjoyed having a chicken and carne asada burrito served with sauce on top along with salsa. It all tasted really fresh and delicious! Plus their horchata wasn't half bad. The food was pretty good but I wouldn't say spectacular. It's a very competitive market in Tucson when it comes to Mexican food so you gotta be the best of the best for 5 stars in my opinion. Just left this location after waiting 40+ minutes for curbside pickup (40 minutes after the time it was supposed to be completed). They usually answer right away and bring the food out. Tonight, as I was calling to pick up my order, I saw one employee picking up the phone and then hanging it up. I called over 60 times before he finally answered the phone. I had to place an order through the app and send a message to get them to answer. When I told him how long I had been waiting, he said ours wasn't done yet without even asking my name. When I said I wanted a refund he hung up on me. This place has typically been following mask protocols but tonight I saw multiple people enter without masks or with their noses uncovered. Nobody said anything. The online orders were piling up, and they just left them all on a table for anyone to pick up. One meal was left out for the entire time I was waiting. This place used to have great food and service, they are failing to take care of their customers during COVID. Ignoring calls from people who rely on curbside service, reducing the amount of food they put in the meals "because of COVID" (actual quote from a manager", and messing up online orders time and time again. Maybe they're under new management? Hopefully they make some changes. I'll give them a try again when the pandemic is over. read more
