Raising Cane's restaurants can get crowded around peek times resulting in longer waits than you might expect for "fast food" but it's worth it. We just plan around those times and go in between lunch/dinner rush. Their chicken tenders are some of the better offerings out there... large, whole breast meat being the key. The breading that each chicken tender is fried in is pretty thick but that yields a nice crunch too. We are not big soda drinkers or french fry eaters so rather than the $10 meals which only come with 3 tenders (plus greasy fries and sugary soda) we always opt for the tailgater tray (see pic) and waters. For basically the same price as four individual meals we get double the number of their large chicken tenders! It also comes with a slice of Texas bread, which is AMAZING. Never had it before but it hit all my carb cravings with it's soft, toasted, buttery loaf that was gone way too fast. This is hands-down the worst raising cane's in Tucson. Every time that I have gone here, the service is bad. I had one cashier try to sneak a drink onto my order and when I asked her if she charged me for it, she said no. Afterwards, I checked the receipt and she had charged me for one! I literally asked her to review to see if she charged me for it and she said no. So I asked for a refund and she told someone that I changed my mind when they had to void it. This place is also dirty and the parking is a nightmare. Fries are always too salty and it just seems like they do not care about making the food properly. The menu here is very basic, chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches, along with fries, coleslaw, and a buttery Texas Toast. It was very pleasing. The coleslaw was OK. It didn't have much flavor to it, but it complemented the meal nicely. The Texas toast was seasoned with a pat of butter and very tasty. I opted out of the fries since I was already eating fried chicken fingers. That was enough fried food for me. The lemonade here was too sweet for my taste. It's the type of lemonade that you would find in the deep south. It just had no bite to it at all. However, the homemade dipping sauce was the best thing I have eaten in a while. It seemed to be a combination of ranch, ketchup, and peppercorn. It was very pleasing. The price for this food is outrageous. It cost over $8 for 4 pieces of chicken and the sides. However it is served very quickly. In fact, I would be surprised if this establishment did not have the record for quickest serve time in fast food. People come here by the boatloads, with glee. Seriously, there was a family of five merrily making their way into the already busy restaurant as I was entering the lot. The draw: chicken tenders. Or chicken fingers. Chicken strips? Whatever you call them... Now, having watched a fair amount of Family Guy back in the day, I almost lost my oatmeal when the cashier greeted me with: "Welcome to Raising Cane's, where the bird is the word." If you haven't seen the Family Guy's "bird is the word" episode, you must. You absolutely must. Anyway, kudos to the staff. They are a very cordial and helpful bunch. The verdict: mostly, I was pleased. I did enjoy the chicken. It was very, very moist and quite flavorful, though it could have had a bit more crunch. The Texas toast was good. Very buttery and cheesy in flavor, though I don't think cheese is on the ingredients list. Hum...? And disclosure: this was either my third or fourth time in life having Texas toast, so I am not going to be able to give the best assessment on how comparatively scrumptious it is. The sauce. The famous Cane's sauce. ...I don't get it. What's the allure? It tastes to me like a very wet and slightly spiced -- not spicy hot, though -- ketchup. Why the mass appeal? The return draw? Not strong. If someone wanted to go and drag me along, I would go gladly. But there's not enough going on to justify driving clear across the city to dine here.
