TONS of people walking around Bellingham Costco without masks willfully breaking the state's mask mandate. When I asked a worker about the chain's policy on enforcing the mask mandate, he said they were told by management not to bother people without masks. So those rude, ignorant, self-centered people are putting workers' and other customers' lives at risk while the highly transmissible Omicron variant tears through our communities. Customer service at the Bellingham WA location is terrible! On at least 4 separate trips to this store trying to find someone to help me find a product was ridiculous. Every employee that I came across had an attitude that they had to answer a question. When I couldn't find an item they would say well if it isn't in this area or that aisle we don't have it. Ummmm ok....the how come after walking every aisle I did find it. One time an employee told me that and then said they would go look it up in the system and told me to wait. I saw them walk away and start doing something else and blew me off. I finally found this item too in a random area. So sad that no one seems to care here. Quite a contrast from the grocery store across the street where I've never had anything but friendly service. Shame on you Costco. I blame your management... train these people better! read more

It's always fun to visit a Costco in another country to see the different things they carry. Once we drove past a Costco in Mexico but didn't get to stop because we were in a tour bus. I've been to WA many many many times and I still can't get over that liquor is sold in a regular grocery store :-) Sampling things are also great when shopping at Costco. read more

This is the NEW location as of yesterday (Nov 19th). If you like Costco's - you will like it. If you don't,.. you won't. It is exactly like any other, in fact I often drift into thinking I'm back in the one in Richmond. I'm not reviewing Costco as a whole here,.. but rather this location. As a Canadian, we sometimes come here on the hunt for a deal so good it offsets the exchange rate,.. or they might just have something we don't. Personally I would make this an "optional" stop when I'd do a Bellingham run "(REI, Trader Joe's, Winco,.. maybe Target or Fred Meyers,.. and rarely Costco). The new location I prefer but it would be easier to explain using a map. If Winco is my usal last stop due to perishables,.. the old costco was not on my way back to the highway,.. but Fred Meyer would be so (on Bakerfield) so that is where I'd get my gas. Well,.. not he cheaper gas appears to be Costco, and it IS on the same road. It is negligable but when you are on the fence a "slightly" more convenient stop helps. What else do I like abut this one? Double lined gaps between cars in the parking lot (more room), and also a few exits to the road that will take you away to the highway,. even Fred Meyer can't claim that despite being right across the road. read more

Kellie at the customer service desk is incredibly unprofessional and racist. Yes, I know I said racist and that's a HEAVY statement. I came in today with my son and MIL to make a small return on veggies that we purchased that were a day expired when we bought them. So we purchased them 9/7 and the package said expired 9/6. So we brought the veggies in (about $25 total). I know it's a small return but we figured it'd be good for them to know they sold us expired produce. As soon as Kellie saw what we were returning and and soon as my MIL opened her mouth, Kellie was blatantly rude, abrupt and disrespectful. I know customer service sucks. I know that retuning $25 worth of veggies seems petty so as a human I totally get it. But at the end of the day we tried to do the right thing by letting them know and my MIL was so sweet and apologetic. To be fair, I missed a portion of their conversation because I went to the food court to get a churro (food court employees are always top notch no matter how busy they might get). By the time I got back the rude tone and condescending overpronounciation by Kellie to my mother in law hurt my heart. Kellie was speaking to my MIL like she was foreign and didn't understand English. My MIL and FIL are from Hawaii, my father in law works in oil and let's just say they spend THOUSANDS at Costco on a regular basis. You wouldn't know that by speaking with them because how how sweet they are to everyone. My mother in law had a certificate and was trying to ask Kellie how to use it ans Kellie tried to tell my mother in law that they don't honor those at the store. My mother in law kept her cool and said calmly that she was told last time she came that she could use her certificate. Before my MIL could finish her sentence Kellie cut her off and said, "Well idk what to tell you because you can't." My MIL thought Daniel was who she spoke to but it wasn't the case. Daniel is the manager and he was so calm and sweet about the whole situation. I told him how I wasn't sure why my MIL was treated less than the white woman that Kellie worked with prior and he insisted it wasn't race. It was either the small return or my mother in laws confusion regarding the certificate, but either way someone in customer service should not wave their fingers or talk down to customers the way we were talked to. Costco, I wanted to let you know that my experience with Budget Rent a Car and the Costco Traveler program was disappointing. My reservation was for a Toyota Sienna, and when we arrived at the Budget counter, they said they didn't have one available. They said it would be a half hour or more and tried to push me into a Nissan pick-up. I was not happy, but I said I would wait. We had golf clubs and didn't want to have to put them in the back of a truck where they could be easily stolen. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, the salesman kept trying to push me into the pick-up. I wanted to wait, but was also needing to move on because we had a golf time at 2:30 and didn't want to be late. After another 10-minutes or so and no minivan in sight, we gave up and said we'd take the pick-up. They didn't offer us any vehicle that was large enough for 4-people and our golf clubs/suit cases. Then, they kept pushing insurance at roughly $25 per day that was for 'down time' if something were to happen to the vehicle, whether or not it was my fault. I refused it 4-times, but the salesman wouldn't stop. I needed to get out of there or be late for the golf time so I said to add it and get me out of there. Why I would be responsible for their 'down time' insurance is beyond me. They should have a policy that covers them that they pay for, not me. If it's some sort of trick to offer a lower price on the surface, then upsell insurance to me that they should pay for, well that's even more disappointing. Needless to say, I will not use the Costco Rent a Car program ever again, nor will I ever rent from Budget. Wow, this Costco can get busy and it is incredible to see carts full of milk being loaded into Canada plated cars. For what it is though, this Costco is well stocked, has easy access and has staff who clearly have been trained to move a massive amount of volume through in a friendly, quick and efficient fashion. If you buy gas- be advised that even a short line might take a while as most of the cars will be filling several portable containers due to proximity to the border. For WA residents who live south- the sales tax here is only 8% so a nice little savings that can add up! read more

Why review Costco? Because I have a couple things to say... first, obviously Costco is awesome! They have smokin' hot deals on things and provide quality products. Their staff is great, and the company treats staff quite well with reasonable pay and a solid benefits program. I'm a sucker for a chicken bake and that brain-freeze inducing ice mocha beverage they serve. Gripes: Don't be fooled by the 7pm closing time. They are completely shut down to new customers at 6:30pm, possibly earlier. Also, such sweet clothes deals on quality brands, but nowhere to try them on... I've threatened to discard my pants in the middle of the store to try on jeans. Get some kind of dressing room or something. Also stop selling honey from New Zealand with cool packaging for $50, rather People of Washington, stop buying honey from New Zealand because of the cool packaging and BUY LOCAL WASHINGTON honey from Washington bees. read more

A new Costco! It's that new thing that you didn't know you really needed. Costco has always been a favorite store of mine, we do most of our grocery shopping here, and now it's just a little bit easier than it used to be. Apart from getting off the freeway and through a couple lights, this Costco is much easier to reach than the old one. There's plenty of parking, I recommend parking around the left side where you can still park close to the front door and not have to hike from the far reaches of this new and improved ginormous parking lot. Once inside, you kind of forget that you're in Bellingham, this Costco is now just like every other one with wide walkways and a lot more room for the hordes of Canadians that come to buy milk. We're still getting used to all the space, some things aren't where they used to be, but most are. We like our bigger produce and milk coolers, the broader selection of items is appreciated. But what we really appreciate is that in the few visits that I've had to this new location there are rarely lines at the check stands. I'm not sure if they have more open or that the aisles are enticing shoppers to slow their pace to the checkstand. Either way I like getting through check out quick. At the end of the day it's still a really great place to shop, with great quality and value for your money. read more

This review is only in reference to the Pharmacy, otherwise I love Costco. I have had such a poor experience with this pharmacy that I have moved all my meds to a mail order service. However, my husband had an infection following a root canal and needed antibiotics, So against my better judgement, I had the dentist call the prescription in to Costco. I gave them over two hours before I arrived to pick it up. When I got to the counter and gave his name, she said "That will be in on Monday". I said "Are you kidding me? This man is in a lot of pain". She then tells me she will check to see if it is in stock (????). Turns out it is in stock and will be ready in 35 minutes, well, it actually took an hour. Obviously, they were busy and didn't feel like filling the prescription then. Unbelievably poor service. read more

I just purchased a package of Kirkland brand toilet paper. The size of each role has been reduced by two ounces and each roll is substantially smaller in diameter than in the past. Yet, Costco is charging more for the package. Has anyone else noticed this change?? How disappointing. read more

On May 7, 2013, I witnessed something that I would have thought was unheard of: people at the gas station at Costco displaying patience, kindness, and all around awesomeness. Like every afternoon at this Costco, lines at the gas pump were long. An elderly lady (with WA plates) was having car troubles while in line; her car battery had died. Three Costco employees came over to help her and two passengers in the minivan (with BC plates) behind her got out to offer to help push her car to the pump. Yet another customer pulled over by the tire center and began setting up her jumper cables to give the elderly lady a boost once her gas tank was filled. Once they were able to put the car in neutral and push the lady's car to the pump, the Costco employees then proceeded to pump her gas for her. Talk about customer service! Five stars for exceptional customer service and people being awesome!!! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. read more

The other Yelpers were not kidding. This Costco location has a lot of visitors from Canada. We did not go into the Costco store. We just came here to fill up before heading back to Blaine. They have less gasoline pumps than I've seen at any other Costco branch that we've visited. That helps keep the lines at the pump very long. We were here at about 2:30pm on a Monday, and I was surprised to see the long lines at the pumps. I do not recall the exact price the day we were there. Spent almost 20 minutes waiting. While waiting, I looked around and noticed all the British Columbia license plates. After closer inspection, I noticed that almost everyone had at least one to five gasoline cans to fill up in addition to their regular gas tank. No wonder, the wait was so long!!! I should have read the Yelp reviews ahead of time. Would not have been so surprised. I just read some reviews while waiting for our turn. Well, that was the only time we visited this Costco on our 7 day vacation in Washington state. If you want to visit a Costco, then I suggest heading about 20 minutes further South on Interstate 5. In the town of Burlington, they have a larger Costco located right off the freeway. They have more gasoline pumps and much shorter lines. read more

Low prices, full of Canadians. While I'm not sure I would endure regular border crossings for Costco gas, there are plenty who do. Try to avoid getting in a line with tons of BC plates; your wait will not be for a single vehicle tank fill-up, but for a bajillion kajillion gas canisters in addition to the vehicle. The lines don't SEEM long until you consider the wait for all of the gas canisters. Still, it's cheap, and if you go during off times, it's definitely worth the drive from Ferndale! I love Costco! The samples, the food court, just browsing around! I recently started a strict grain-free paleo diet and I was so excited about all the awesome paleo items I found at Costco! I hope they keep all these items in stock and keep adding more stuff. This Costco is pretty much always busy and crowded and it sucks to find a parking spot. I really do love Costco. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the combination of quantity, quality and price. Or perhaps not knowing what they'll have on their shelves each time I venture in. Either way, I am a frequent Costco shopper. With all that said, this location is completely bonkers! The parking lot is insane and the gas pumps are madness. I'm a Vancouverite, but I even get frustrated with most of the other Canadians running amok. Most of them really don't seem to give a damn about anyone else, I'll be the first to admit. In fact, I never get fuel here, and recommend that you DO NOT, because of the insane lineups. Most of the time the lineup at the pumps is longer than the border lineup, no joke. Plus, most people to fill the trunk of their car with 5 gallon jerry cans, usually averaging 3-6 per vehicle! No wonder it takes so long! The prices are just what you'd expect from Costco - reasonable. If you're in a hurry or get frustrated around crowds, you might want to skip this Costco and head another 20 minutes down I-5 to Costco in Burlington - much quieter. Even though this location frustrates the hell out of me (and I can only image how the poor locals feel!), I still return time and time again. Thanks Costco :) read more

There are two products sold at this Costco that aren't sold in any other Costco in B.C. First, Tillamook Cheese from Oregon. Second, wine. I really like Tillamook Cheese, so getting this product in Bellingham is quite a bonus. I wish they sold it in Canada. This has to be the smallest Costco I've ever been to. It almost feels like it's half the size of a Costco in Canada. I came here on a Monday morning and parking was almost full. Most of the car license plates are from B.C. too. There are very few sample stations for this smallish Costco. I was a little surprised that there was a sample station for dish washing detergent. You really expect shoppers to bring their dirty dishes? They sell these beef and chicken wraps at the food court. I don't recommend them because they're not freshly made. Sort of like Tim Horton donuts. They're completely frozen and they heat it up in the oven. They taste very bland and the pictures on the billboard didn't match the real product itself. read more

We needed gas after a weekend in Vancouver, so we got off I-5 and detoured over to the Costco for a fill up. Big mistake! I should have known something was up when I saw the line up at the pumps and all the BC license plates. Here's the deal: gasoline is expensive in Canada. Gasoline is cheap in the US, and especially cheap at Costco, so it seems every other car in the line to buy gas had a trunkful of empty gas containers, which all needed filling. I mean, this can't be safe, right? Who in their right mind wants to drive around with a car full of loose gas containers in the back of their car? Anyway, lesson learned: get gas at the Shell station down the street in Bellingham, or better yet hold out until the Costco in Everett and fill up there. read more

I've been to a handful of Costco's so I have an idea of one good Costco from the next. I love Costco but I detest this location and avoid it when I can. I do a lot of cross-border shopping and American Costco has different things than my regular Costco I frequent. This location is the closest to the Canadian border so it's infested with BC plates in the parking lot. It's always crowded in any section of the warehouse the line-up to get gas is always AT LEAST 10 minutes. Again, it's full of BC plated cars filling up jerry cans to bring back home. Which I already think is really dangerous and not worth the risk. My preference if I want to take my time and thoroughly go through each section is to drive 20 minutes south to the Burlington location as these two are pretty much the same in regard to the stuff they carry. I'll take the distance to keep my sanity. (Plus there's a Panera Bread there where I like to have lunch!) Other than the "busy-ness" of this store, it's great for selection - just too busy for me. Not your fault, Costco. Sorry for the two stars. I just really have 'experienced better'. read more

I am sure this Costco is an average one based on US standard but when you compare it to Canadian ones, this one is pretty amazing. Some of the items are much cheaper even when you consider the exchange rate. I really wanted to buy the basketball hoop that was on sale, as it was at least 30% cheaper even after the exchange, but I had no room in my trunk. Also, it's not so busy any more as there aren't any many Canadians coming down. I will come here again. read more

Their prices were better than Les Schwab & Sears and the Costco crew have stood behind all my tire purchases. (I can't say the same about the rims I purchased from Discount Tire on Lakeway & Lincoln.) I would give 5 stars but Bellingham gets a lot of rude people. They push and shove and are generally borish. (Theres an old Utube showing this.) Also, and more importantly, they discontinue products without notice or good reason. IE: 1: red potatoes..(reason: "we carry only for holidays") We make our potato salads from the reds) 2: Hoodys Peanuts in the 56 oz. container (they used to carry them and I can get them if I drive 1 hour 1 way or in other states but I can not understand why they will not resume this very good product again in Bellingham?) The new store is huge - the aisles are wide, the parking lot is the size of a dozen NFL football fields, and the line at the food court moves at lightspeed. And kudos to the folks who planned this place cuz it's exactly the same layout as the old store, thus less confusion. Still the same great deals, but now with more room to maneuver my cart. There's also a great local craft beer section in the back - kinda hidden but worth checking out. read more

What's not to love about Costco? Not only does it help me save money through bulk buying, it also keeps HB entertained as I spend hours at the TJ Maxx right beside it. Any place that can babysit my husband as I shop is a winner in my book! As expected of any Costco, it's a great place for variety and high quality items. There are constantly new products, new things to sample and Costco employees keep up the gold standard of service at this location. We generally go once a month to stock up on dry goods and cleaning supplies. We don't really buy milk or any of their raw meat products because I'm wary of hormone-pumped meats and milk in the US, with the exception of Tillamook cheese from Oregon (hormone-free!). I also don't buy flower products as I've noticed they tend to wilt a lot faster than if you just buy them at a regular grocery. Go on weekdays to avoid long gas/cashier line ups. read more

It's always SOOOOOOOOOOOO busy!!!! Be prepared to deal with crowds anytime you go. We've been on weekends as well as middle of the day during the week and there's always a crowd. I feel like they switch things around too much in the store too. I'll go to grab something in the spot it was in a few weeks prior and won't be able to find it. If I feel the desire to ask someone, I'm lead to a very different spot than where the product was before. At this point I've decided if I can't find it within a couple of minutes I'll just add it to my shopping list for Winco. It's nice to be able to buy things in bulk, but it's not really worth fighting the crowds or spending a ton of time searching around for what you're wanting. read more

I love Costco and this location is the newest of them all. It's huge, very well organized and clean. One of employees said that its so well organized and custom built for their needs, that they had to let staff go because there wasn't a need for them anymore. I didn't know the moved if it wasn't for the border guard coming into the US. He asked me where I was going and I said Costco etc... He said "did you know Costco moved ?" I said "I did not". He then proceeded to give me directions, so glad he did because I had no idea where the new location was. Costco is one of those places I have to visit No matter what country I'm in, because each one stocks different things depending where it's located. Hawaii Costco has poke, macadamia nuts galore, Kona pop (the most amazing popcorn on the world) Japan has a huge selection of raw fish, Japanese desserts, seaweed etc.. I bake a lot and buy all of my baking needs here, I buy my cream cheese here because it's only $5.99 for a large brick 12" and for the same size in Canada is $14.99. Tabasco sauce is $4.99 there and $12.99 here for the same price. Cheese, milk and eggs are better priced in the US as well, not to mention gas. I know, I know people are going " what about the exchange" it's not just the money/saving or not for me. It's something I have done since I was 19. Road trips to the US, planning crazy 2-10 day shopping trips. Black Friday weekend trips with NO sleeping. Planning our eating extravaganzas along the way. Good times...good times indeed....memories we will have for a lifetime. Every stop along the way we hit a Costco and a Nordstrom Rack.... It's our thing and has been for 25 years, even when the exchange rate hit 1.57 we still went, and this was wasaaaaaaay before it became popular. Oregon, Federal Way, Bellevue, Seattle, Las Vegas, San Fransisco, LA, etc....the UK, China, Australia,Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan, Mexico etc.... so exciting for me to walk into each new location!
