I have been a member of Costco since 2004. The membership is worth it because of the tasty food samples, reasonably-priced brand name drugs (example: GLP1 weight loss drugs for $25/mo), and the use of advanced technology. Their rotisserie chicken is so good! It is a bargain at $4.99. The crisp and well-seasoned skin and moist meat reminds me of Thanksgiving, so I usually enjoy it with a glass of red wine or Coke. I stopped going to CVS and Walgreens over a decade ago so I could use Costco Pharmacy. Their prescription drugs are relatively cheaper because they accept Manufacturer coupons for Tier 3 and Tier 4 (brand name) drugs, and Costco membership is not required. When I was on Ozempic, I paid only $25 out of pocket for a one month supply. Costco's technology skills are up there with the best. Today when I was standing on a long line at the self check out aisle, an employee scanned my digital Costco membership card with his portable scanner and then scanned all the items in my cart. She was so busy talking to her friend when I asked for help she just barked orders at me and continued her conversatio. I talked to the supervisor JUSTIN to tell him the situation that the online hours were incorrect and he said "look at the wall", he told me to upgrade or wait outside (in the freezing cold) for 30 min. This was an accidental find. Costco has gas pumps at this location. This is not a far drive for me for lower price premium fuel. Costco is excellent value if you are good with buying products in bulk. The store is well organized with plenty of national brand products. They also have their own brand, Kirkland that is priced below many of the brand products. My favorite items from Costco are their cheeses, dog treats, bottled sodas & drinks, and many other disposable items. On a busy holiday week, beware of people blindly driving carts through the aisles. It could be dangerous. Cashiers are impressive. So I went to this Costco location, and before I left, I called to see if the ice cream machine was working. They said it was working, so I left on my journey to eat ice cream. The stuff there is way too overpriced compared to the past few years, but I still have my food court to eat my cheap food. AND THESE PEOPLE SAID TO ME THE ICE CREAM MACHINE IS NOT WORKING. Against my better judgement I come here to the hearing department. See my previous review back in 2018. Not much has changed. I lost one of my hearing aids, Before I can explain this to the obnoxious person, she starts telling me about how I need to make an appointment. I guess she is too busy disinfecting the place. I see her wiping down counters and putting a few more business cards in the holder. All while I'm standing there. Meanwhile, just like back in 2018, no customers are here, That's how busy they are. Her colleague is on the phone and manages to avoid any eye contact with me even after she gets off the phone. Then she threatens me with that there are consequences should I find my missing hearing aid if they replace it. How's that for compassion and understanding? I'm here to get a replacement. I have far better things to do than try to screw Costco. Then she tells me I am beyond my warranty period and will need to be retested and pay for replacement. At this point I've had it and walk out. This is the least busiest Costco in Long Island. You can always find parking but you may have to park farther away from the entrance. The recycling area has only one plastic and can machine working but everything else seems to be fine. The check out area isn't as big as the Westbury or Melville locations but they do move quick. The best part about the Commack location is that they have gas pumps! You can pay with your Costco Visa card or with your membership and another form of payment. While i usually shop at Westbury Costco, my least favorite store is Costco REGO park. This was the first time I been to Costco in Commack. It was very spacious, better variety than Westbury for sure. Lines were short even for a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. I also end up picking up a braun hair trimmer with accessories for $49.99 plus my usual amount of groceries which end up being about $400. These days feeding a family 3x a day becomes costly, specially because we do not eat out. While this location is far from Bayside, I believe is better option than Westbury or REGO Park Costco. It's been ten years or more and decided to try Costco again, the reason I stopped going to Costco is you need a list of needed household items and you want Pampers, Tide, Glad and they PUSH there in house brand of Kirkland over your preferred Brand. If you are tight on time it's very difficult to find your items since they rotate isles and locations of products. The location was over mobbed lines out the door for Returns, and CS desk. The check out lines went 20 plus people deep. I was able to accomplish the things I wanted, Costco is still on the Top 4 List for buying Diamonds. SO I was able to get a Sales girl to assist plus a Supervising Manager to over see the $10k $100'ooo diamond case being opened. Surprisingly the leather furniture was great quality for the 1/4 Price point of other Retailers. So to buy Platinum, Diamonds and Gold come to Costco. Engagement Rings, Sweet 16 Diamond necklace come to Costco. If you need new Appliances order online here, and TVs, Furniture the prices are FABULOUS for day to day house hold items baby wipes tuna detergent needs it is a -10 epic fail. Lines to get in, over crowded isles, store lines. Either they need to make the club bigger or get way more help to get people out faster. When my grandfather arrived in this nation as a young paisono shortly after the turn of the century, he was likely disappointed to learn the streets were not, in fact, paved with gold, nor was Lady Liberty a real woman waiting to greet him with a wet kiss and a welcoming cigar lit by an actual torch. Despite this major letdown, I'm sure he would, upon entering a Costco and having arrived from a land where his countrymen bought horses with loaves of bread, fall upon his knees out of both fear and joy, thinking he entered a literal horn of plenty. He'd would also wonder where all the horses are, but that's another issue. I, of course, and likely you, of course, are not bewildered by the breadth and depth of a typical warehouse store. But I'll admit to being a bit overwhelmed and impressed the first time I walked into one. Part of it is seeing familiar items in unfamiliar sizes. For example, I've seen Hellmann's mayonnaise all my life. I cannot recall a time when I did not know what Hellmann's mayonnaise was. However, I grew up with Hellmann's mayonnaise in 32-ounce jars. But if I saw Hellmann's mayonnaise in a 24-ounce jar or a 48-ounce jar, I'd feel a little uncomfortable. When I first saw Hellmann's mayonnaise in a tiny jar when I stayed at a hotel, I couldn't stop staring at it, and when they put Hellmann's mayonnaise into squeeze bottles that made you unsure which was the top, for weeks I blocked out of my mind that innovation in packaging. So when I entered Costco for the first time and witnessed Hellmann's mayonnaise in a jar the size of a small barrel, the kind you'd see catching rain in the corner of a small tavern in the Old West, I was asking myself whether I'd be able to handle an entire shopping trip. But fear not, dear reader. I am fully acclimated to unconventional food packaging and nowadays, Costco is part of my Saturday morning routine. My Saturday morning routine usually starts with waking up and wondering what I've been doing with my life, considering the highlight of my weekend is going to Costco. With all that in mind, here are some of the good things about my local Costco: 1. The dairy and baking products -- milk, cream, butter, half-and-half, eggs, vanilla, chocolate chips -- are the cheapest in town. Until I started my Costco membership, I was considering buying a cow for my dairy products, which would not have worked out because, well, I have no idea how to care for, and extract dairy products from, a cow. 2. They keep the barrel-sized containers of Hellmann's mayonnaise in the same location, so I'm able to brace myself for that horrifying sight. 3. They sell a pillow-sized bag of Hershey chocolate chips, which serves as both a pillow and a convenient in-bed snack distribution center. 4. Despite the facility being large enough to house a family of grizzly or black bears, I have never been attacked by a grizzly or black bear. To be fair, I must share some of the bad things about my local Costco: 1. The Commack Costco is "my" Costco, meaning I've achieved a level of comfort that is just not there when I enter a Costco in say, Melville, which LOOKS like "my" Costco but seems like an elaborate practical joke because things are not arranged in the Melville Costco the way they're familiarly arranged in the Commack (i.e., "my") Costco. 2. The checkout lines can get very congested. I suggest they adapt a flow with a single line managed by an employee who directs the next available customer to the open register. 3. The facility is not used after hours as an underground "fight club" -- or if it is, I haven't been invited. Two more things. I've been to multiple Costcos in my lifetime and Commack is definitely my go to! They are always super stocked with various and interesting finds, but the main reason I trek here is the servcie, staff and cleanliness. Even while coming during quarentine, waiting in the line is worth it. They give you wipes for your cart! The staff is friendly and ligh hearted during this difficult time! Unlike smaller stores, they always seem to have paper towels, toliet paper, clorox and water in stock! All the staff is friendly and quick during checkout! The pricing is great considering its wholesale. I love getting dry goods and even socks from here! $60 a year for membership is worth the savings! Went in with my friend using her moms card and they refused us service and made a scene in front of the entire checkout area with a worker calling us liars.
