This is the first Costco I bought a membership for. Then one was built closer to where I was living. We have been to Costcos all over the U.S. and Canada. We recently moved to the northern part of WI and closest Costco is 2.5 hrs away. We bought a membership to Sam's Club only an hour away but after shopping there a couple of times we elected to travel to Costco and make a day of it. But, now we are heading to FL for 4 months and no Costco. . I value and trust Costco and their deli foods taste better than Sam's also. We had to return some recalled Carrots and lucky for us we did not have a line to wait in. We did self check out as we only had 4 items. He called my number and I went up and then rudely explained why mine wasn't actually ready because it's a kiosk order instead of a phone order. I don't know if this is just "Midwest" mannerisms or completely and wholly surly workers with bad attitudes but the way Return CSR Chris just spoke to Linda and Candace killed my mood and took her forever to handle my online purchase for return that in now sitting waiting for the downpour to pass. Prior to this visit, I've had decent people helping me look for things on the floor and checking me out but the lady in consessions was curt our first time in that I'm just over it all. For $18-25/hour and decent benefits, I just expect more. If I wanted this I'd go to the Waltons. Nevertheless, I've parked a mile away carrying an open tote with my emergency umbrella left behind at home. Who knows if it'd work anyway because it's like monsoon rain with the wind blowing hard. He made an effort to accommodate her, walking alongside her at a comfortable pace as she held onto the shopping cart. We no longer live near any of their locations so today we went out of our way ONLY because Costco charged us and forced yet again another years subscription to their business even though we've cancelled it and can't even log into the app. Walked in the door and had a horrible experience right away! Huge woman at the door loudly yelled at me for not having a mask. (We've been all over in many stores around town and no one was forcing masks as well as most people not even wearing them.) So, she yells at me and proceeds to reach into her stash of masks and hands one to me with her greasy, dirty, germ covered fingers all over them. Then my fiancé walked through the door right after me and she yelled at him as well! "Do you need a mask? YES you do!" and proceeds to force the mask. Apparently people that are nothings in life enjoy the power they have over other people by forcing and flexing their power with the fake mask mandates. If she was nice, it wouldn't be an issue. It was the fact that she was such a B about it. No wonder people are so confrontational. Apparently Covid is only in the Middleton area and November 28 they end the mask mandate because the virus moves onto another town. Ridiculous! read more

Costco is always great! Gas is cheap, as is everything in the store relative to the outside world. Picked up some windshield wipers as they were on sale and had the size we needed, also got a strawberry sundae which had just one strawberry but the ice cream was creamy as usual and the strawberry syrup had actual strawberry bits in it. read more

CostCo now delivers! I just tried it, and was very impressed. You must first see if your neighborhood is included and then place your order online. Not everything can be delivered, but all grocery, including frozen and fresh, plus most household stuff: tissues, paper goods, shampoo, etc. At the time I ordered, you had to order $35 of product for FREE scheduled delivery (one hour window). My order was received the next day after placing an order. I received informative texts such as: I could Add to my order prior to fullfillment (which I did take advantage of); the name of the shopper preparing my order; and notification of an even more precise delivery time. It all worked like a perfectly orchestrated symphony! And no traffic hassles for me! I will definitely take advantage of CostCo's home delivery again, no question. It rocks! read more

I like Costco as an organization, but this location stinks. One of the rudest Costco locations I've been to; my family will go out of our way to stop the Sun Prairie location instead, because the experience is better. Every return in Middleton takes a half hour because there's a line of people getting shamed about their returns. Tire station is also terrible - at one point I went to get new tires after work and waited for three hours, only for them to tell me I should have gotten there sooner and they're not working late for me. I went to a competitor - They lost $800. Aside from that, pretty normal Costco. Typical selection, crazy busy, weird parking, food court, gas station, etc. Just don't ask them to do anything service related. read more

I must admit, at first I was not a fan. As a family of three, I didn't see the need to buy a gazillion gallon tub of mayo. Fast forward to today where we are planning a tailgate for 80 people at our house. Costco is now my favorite place. Great deals on liquor as well as the other items necessary to make the event a success. Yes, you can get lulled into some of the bargains that you don't really need (I almost pulled the trigger on a gigantic tub of bbq pork) but if you have the need and the space, it is definitely a great place to go. Pro-Tip: If you want to preserve your sanity, I would avoid Saturday Mornings. It seriously is a madhouse. read more

Very strange to review a store like this. Seems obvious - you go in, you buy stuff, you leave. Pretty simple. I've been there many, many times. And I must say, EACH time I'm there, the employees are very helpful and friendly. I tip my hat to Costco for taking care of their employees - I know they pay more than the average store, give good benefits, etc. And still, somehow, they make money. Sounds like a win-win-win for all of us. We need more of that in this world. I REALLY love the fruit here. I have no idea how they do it, but they get the "good stuff". Their raspberries, while being super cheap, are also the biggest and best berries you can get. Each berry is better than the junk I get in town for twice the price. The strawberries are consistently good as well. On weekends, you can have lunch just by cruising the sample stations. Oh, and those stations work - I often end up buyin' what they're sellin'! The kiddos also like to try stuff there (yay). Need a quick lunch? For around $2 you can get a slice of pizza and a soda (with refill). Boom! The Costco gas station used to be a deal on gas, but has since come even with all the other places around them. Not sure why, but no special reason to stop there anymore (unless you have the executive membership and get cash back). I won't go to Sam's. I WILL go to Costco. read more

I have been here several times, and my feelings haven't changed at all, I will say they do have a good selection of ready prepped meals, and so many taste testing opportunities. For that i'll add a star but its pretty difficult to find things when there are no signs telling you where they are, the items move around based on season or quantity and worst of all, the employees are in plain clothes, so you don't know if someone works there unless they have a walkie-talkie on. read more

I'm not a fan of the parking lot layout, they try to be fancy and separate the lots instead of just having rows and rows of parking spaces causing traffic to come at you from every direction. They have more samples and better items to sample than say, Sam's Club. I just like the lighting of Costco more than Sam's. One of my most necessary stops each month. The best prices and my go-to for goat cheese, real lemon juice, mozzarella, scallops, mussels, certain spices and blends, sometimes avocados, quinoa, Larabars, spinach, hummus, maple syrup, vodka, laundry detergent, water softener salt, socks, leggings, zippies. I couldn't go without those items! Countless indulgent treats to splurge on and reasonable items to try, then hopefully integrate into your routine. Their organic, free and clear, and fairly natural items are available in just about every department. Staff is mixed when it comes to customer service, ranging from stellar to unpleasant. Lines are very long; I've never seen all cash registers open. Hassles include the parking lot; it's meant to be pretty with non-standard layout but it just results in you gettingan additional 1000 steps in. Costco also insists on looking over your receipt and highlighting it while looking at your cart items. I'm not sure this accomplishes their goal, which I assume is to catch any stolen items shipping through. Clientele at this location is tolerable, they move quickly much of the time and mean business. Costco's photo department is great, quick, affordable. Costco seems to utilize their suggestion box, given that probably 4/5 of my dreams have come true. Their return policy is also one of they best ( I.e. ppl in line returning empty package of roast bc it didn't taste fresh, me returning a broken lawn chair despite using it a number of times). read more

I ordered from Costco's 2 day delivery service and originally was told it would be 5-6 days for delivery due to the virus situation. I understand that. I was put on the schedule for delivery yesterday and nothing arrived. I got an email to put on a schedule for today and now I'm being told that they don't know when they can deliver anything from my list. I can't leave my house because I have a chronic illness and my my kids have asthma. So I can't take the chance of exposure. We are really close to having no food in the house. Recently we decided to get new tv, speakers and wall mount. I was lucky to run into Don at Costco. I told him what I was looking for and he helped me instantly. Walked me to each item and loaded it onto the cart he found for me. Don also directed me to the quickest checkout line. Amazing experience. So efficient. Some great finds, some great prices, but ultimately not worth it for just me. I went to Costco twice in a week - once, an aborted attempt at buying party supplies, and then a second time for regular shopping with my boyfriend who had never been. On my party trip, there were some things I just couldn't find and some unclear pricing that led me to abandon my plan and hit up Woodman's and Copps. While Costco offered some 1.5 liter bottles of wine, I couldn't find any boxed wine, which is idea for size, disposal, and running around town with it in the trunk of my car picking up supplies and getting set up. The cheese section was a bit unclear - I found a pre-sliced cheese assortment whose sign said "$10.99" and then in smaller print "per pound." It was a two pound package, which would have meant it was $22 for the equivalent of 4 blocks of cheese (usually about $2.50-3 in the grocery store). Other signs in the store show the total price and then break down the per unit on the side. There was no one around to ask, so I moved on. On my visit a couple days later, it was much less stressful because I went in with the intent to browse and wasn't under a deadline to create a spread for a group. Deals worth mentioning: $5 raspberries, big bags of quinoa, and 48-packs of fiber granola bars. Other things cost as much or more than they do in the store, but just come in bigger packages. And this is where the problem lies. I share an apartment and cook for just me 95% of the time, so I don't have room to store many of the items nor the ability or desire to eat through them. Now, this isn't a complaint against Costco - they are exactly what they aim to be: a bulk shopping paradise. And for that, they are a-ok and will probably be more useful to me if I ever become a homeowner or have a family. Until then, I'll probably just ask my parents to pick up the select couple of items that caught my eye and pay them instead of investing in my own membership. Side note: Costco member gas price was identical to every other gas station in the area. read more

Great prices, good deals, and all that you would expect. Membership is basically free because they give you a rebate check at the end of the year that pays for next year's membership. Nice bonus! SPECIAL NOTE: I was there the other day (Sunday 11/15) with my 4 year old daughter. She got sick out of nowhere, I couldn't make it to the restroom in time because it was on the opposite side of the store. When she threw up, I had her do it on the floor in an inconspicuous corner as to hopefully not bother other shoppers. How embarrassing for her and for me. Yikes. I didn't know what to do. Out of nowhere, a Costco worker came over, said he would take care of it, asked me if I wanted a few antiseptic wipes and some paper towels just in case, which I gratefully accepted. This guy rocks. I really wish I knew his name so I could thank him and alert his supervisor as to what a gracious and outstanding job he did. He didn't even bat an eye, almost as if this happens all of the time; and he acted calmly, professionally, and as if he really cared. He showed real concern and class. read more

Costco is the absolute bomb for saving money. Being able to buy A few tips: The Kirkland Signature alcohol is actually made by the major labels. The vodka? Made by Grey Goose. There are two membership levels for non-business owners. Executive and Gold. Get the Executive. Even though it's more expensive, you get cash back on all your purchases which, if you spend more than $100/month at the store ends up paying for itself, so your membership is effectively free. Arrive around noon on a Saturday and prepare for lunch. If you don't fill up on samples, have a cheap pizza or hot dog and soda. Fantastic. Get. The. Rotisserie. Chicken. Seriously. $5 begats a meal for several people or for several days. Perfectly cooked as well. It won''t disappoint. Overall Costco is a great experience. The employees are friendly and helpful, and the prices make it worth the journey. read more

I never thought that I would be a Costco girl! I live alone and buy mostly organic. But I saw a Living Social deal and decided that it may be a good time to reconsider my stance. I walked in and was guided to the service desk where the representatives went over the benefits of the card and upgraded membership. I was sold and upgraded to executive. When I factored in the savings it seemed like a great idea. The representative was very nice and it didn't feel like she was trying to sell me. After that process, I walked around the store and was pleasantly suprised by how neat everything was. Though it is a warehouse store and obviously very large, the store was kept in tip top shape. Of course there are the samples of which there were many! The one thing that I was really surprised about was that every one that worked there just seemed so pleasant and helpful. Though they do not have many organic options, I can certainly see myself coming here for the myriad of other non food options that they have. read more

I LOVE COSTCO, but I try not to go often because it's usually packed with people and the checkout lines are excruciatingly long. It just feels a bit crowded and chaotic. My main purpose of shopping at Costco is to stock up on grocery items. Costco has high quality food at reasonable prices. They have a good selection of organic products. I like to buy meat at Costco because they have antibiotic/hormone-free options. The produce is always high quality. They have cage-free eggs. They also have a good selection of wine/beer/liquor. I was skeptical at first, but Kirkland brand liquor is actually really good and comparable to top shelf brands...at a fraction of the price. After shopping around, I recently purchased a TV from Costco and it cost $150 less at Costco then anywhere else (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.) They really do have some great deals, so I'll keep braving the crowds to get my Costco fix. read more

We love it so far although I don't know how long it will take to use up all the toothpaste and toilet paper. They also have good desserts for cheap. They look beautiful and are very impressive taste wise too. Just make sure buying us bulk is right for you. This is based on the membership sign up. I purchased a LivingSocial deal that included the Gold Star membership at $55/yr with a $20 cash card and coupons to use before August 2016. Linda, the membership sign-up person, was relentless in trying to upgrade us to the Executive level at $110/yr. I stated at least three times that I was not interested and didn't want to do a 24-hr trial toget a $40 cash card and 2% back on all purchases throughout the year. I've never experienced that much pressure to upgrade at a wholesale club. It left us with a bad feelings toward the store and its employee practices. It took us about an hour to get out of the store with membership cards, a bag of oranges, and a case of mac n cheese. The store itself is huge and offers a variety of products, even plants, shrubs, and trees. The flower bouquets were beautiful and there was a good selection to choose from. Prices compared to the other wholesaler in town was a bit pricier, but based on what other people have told me, the quality is better. That is yet to be seen by me though. During our wait for membership sign-up, there were long checkout lanes around 7-8pm on a weeknight. There were only two people in the customer service area, and also a line of people waiting to return items. Oh! The one thing that was good and repeatedly told to us was Costco's lifetime guarantee on most products. The food court almost lured us in with the $1.50 brats and hotdogs, but we had better sights on a heartier meal that night. We did get some gas as prices were rising around the area. The gas station is not by the store location, you have to drive out of the parking lot to Deming Way and Discovery Drive. It's by the Courtyard Marriott and UW Health. read more

I wanted to take a look at the new Windows OS (Windows 8). I was in the area for another event, and thought I'd stop in and check this place out. Hooray, consumerism. /s Daniel (?) was very helpful and knowledgeable about Windows 8 and what he did and didn't like about its interface. This was amazing. Thanks, guy! HOWEVER: he had the worst, most rancid B.O. I have whiffed since the occasion wherein I ran smack into a drunken, urine-soaked vagrant on the El platform in Chicago. COSTCO DUDE: TAKE A BATH, PLEASE, and brush your teeth. Yikes. He was really helpful and nice, though, so big props for that. Really, give that guy a raise (after he has a nice long bath)! Perhaps Costco should give their employees a smell test once in a while; this guy should not have been helping customers stinking like that. Someone should do a hygiene intervention... I ended up not buying anything due to time constraints, but I think I'm just going to get a copy of the more user-friendly Windows 7--and I'm going to buy it online. read more

It's funny how I find myself at Costco whenever they can be found. I came here to find a huge case of Smart Water for my sister while she was recovering from a tonsillectomy. Of course, like any good Costco shopper, I left with a basket full of items I truly didn't need. Costco's have standards. And they all are identical in style, form, and function. Their customer service is also eerily robotic, never faltering. There's no way I can complain about this Costco, because they do everything right. Heck, I've seen people returning used Christmas decorations after the holidays and they STILL take the stuff back. Their customer service is unreal. It is pretty far West of central Madison. But I can understand their location is probably due to proximity to suburbanites and large family dwellings. read more
