LOVE me some C-O-S-T-C-O! This wholesale store has a plethora of things to shop for!!!! I mean, I got my glasses and hearing tests done within the same day. There's a pharmacy and a food stand within the same store. The sample stands on the weekends are always the best. Nothing better than having little scrumptious bites to start off your shopping. They have some of the best deals for buying things in bulk. I got a check @ the end of the year for all the shopping I did ! I don't know the percentage but I think I got 10% of the total spending within the year. The membership was paid for by itself and get this, their booze and wine selection ain't bad at all. All in all... a Costco card is always handy dandy for those of us who eat a lot or have a restaurant business !!! read more

I've been going to Costco for nearly 10 yrs. I mean where else can you buy in bulk and pay the prices you pay??? Where else can you get a hot/polish dog and a soda for $1.50?? Sure there's a convoy of people trying to get he free samples on sundays after church lets out, but whenever you have free food watch out for the herds. I've nearly been ran over with hungry,greedy shoppers for the freebies. Their torta bread has become a new favorite of mine. 10 pieces for less than 6 bucks!! The roasted chicken $4.99 this last me a few days, i cut it up and freeze the rest if i am not going to eat it all in a few days. Well all l have to say is Costco is Costco, they are all the same everywhere. I've been to the one in San Leandro, Rhonert Park, Vallejo, and Santa Rosa. I love this Costco. I've never had a problem finding things I need (although I do have a problem of finding things I don't need and those things winding up in my basket). Parking is plenty and the store is nicely laid out. Plenty of aisle space and great selection. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The lines are usually pretty short and they get you on your way as fast as they can. I definitely recommend this Costco. It's good stuff. read more

This is definitely one of the best Costcos around. Being so close to wine country gives them the advantage and allows them to have a ridiculous amount of wine. You will easily save an average of $5 on bottles around $20 and there are often reps from the wineries there. The staff that tends to the wine selection is also very friendly and knowledgeable. They really love what they do and will help you out both to find your wine and pair other wines with dishes. The only downside is that you can't get out of the store without spending a few hundred bucks...well it's all in the name of bulk purchasing right? Parking is pretty easy for a Costco and it's not too busy (outside of the holiday season, of course). read more

What not to like about Costco?! The place is filled with endless products and needs. I used to go to Costco only to get BBQ products because they come in bulk and it is just convenient. When you do move into a studio from a house, space becomes limited, so you really have to buy things you can actually eat and won't go bad, and doesn't need to be stored. However, my boyfriend and I go to Costco to get fish, meat and few other things that can he stored in a freezer and over time, you do save money! I have eaten their fish, meat, chicken, shrimp, cake, and so much more. I must say their meat is amazing, i haven't eaten it in 2 years because I only eat sea food when it comes to find protein source but my boyfriend claims it tastes just as good it did years ago. I am not the biggest fan of their fish, but i am thinking of salmon only, i have tried another fish, white color, I don't know the name and that was good. Salmon is super large and you got to cook it right away, I personally think it does not keep fresh long. The only reason why i took away 1 star is because service can be there sort of laid back. I got couple snappy ladies who give out samples, who were rude and passive aggressive. I don't report them or anything similar to that, but it doesn't mean the attitude doesn't exist. I have also had amazing and warm service as well. Therefore, at the end of the day, if you do let someone spoil your day, then it will become sour. One thing I didn't like is in the glasses section were you can get your eyes checked out and get prescription glasses, the service there wasn't the best. My boyfriend and i went there for him because someone said you can get your eyes tested out there and checked, and it is supposed to be not too expensive. We signed ourselves in and a young girl said, it will be about 20 minutes. Then we just hanged around, tried glasses for him because he was in the market for a new pair. After seasonable amount of time we came back in hopping to be called to the desk and begin the exam, waited for about another 15 minutes and asked the girl when she thinks the exam will start and how long more did we need to wait. She said she wasn't even sure whether if the exam will happen or not anymore that day because she said they are so busy, and we should come back another day. I personally don't mind waiting in line but as long there is meeting point and ending point, however, i don't like being jerked around. I told her that she should have told us earlier and we didn't have to sing ourselves in and wait for no reason. If anyone goes to their glasses service, i would make appointment ahead of time and have it documented because they don't seem too organized. read more

Today after several hours of way, abusive stamping by the employees who have been blocking me days to buy tires her in the County of Marin. California. The employees started behaving aun a very trashy and non caring way. I waited for hours and they continue there stumping in a attentive intimidate me. They indirectly refuse to provide services and acted like you are talking to a animal. I paid my service and they refuse to attend me base on my race. They where attending white people immediately and good customer service. But to me that thought they can engage in a collective action against my person with all the white community. Very discussing and disturbing to see it. You have to see it for your self. I write here because they like to denied there attempt to act fast to avoid you to see there abusive control issues didn't avoid me from seen there disturbing mental state of the technicians. Please judge it for your self Dont believe judge it for your self, and don't pass it to the corporate as they like the attitude and over control. The Novato Costco has a great flow to it. My favorite time to shop is at a 7pm during the week. It is usually quieter. And the associates do not try to push you out. They do not make you feel hurried or rushed to get out. Even during busy times the cashiers do a fantastic job moving customers through the line quickly. There is ample parking. The only reason I gave a 4 star and not a 5 is because of two reasons. One I have had two different occasions when I got produce that molded two days after I purchased it. The second reason is because when the lines get long there is no order which is frustrating. Otherwise I love this Costco. read more

Because they cater to the pretentious snobs of Marin County they carry more nice cheeses, a lot of wines, and they have sea food a lot more often than most other locations (my humble assumption). A great store where you can buy in bulk and safe money. You do need a membership to shop here. The store has everything from cars to clothing and beauty products to books and groceries. Costco is a great place for families and a nice place to buy items for a event or gathering. The service is good though check out lines can be long at times. This review is specifically for Novato Costco's wine department, even more specifically for an employee named Selman. Did you know this location has sommeliers to help with your wine purchases?? Whenever I need to buy something new I ask Selman. He is AMAZING! One time I came in letting him know that I like J Winery Pinot Gris and he recommended an Oregon Pinot Grigio which was so so good. Another time I explained I'd like an affordable Napa red. He showed me the Kirkland Napa Meritage. He turned the bottle to the description and showed me who the winemaker was. He then explained that winemaker is a big name in Napa reds and makes very good wine. Good to know! My husband said it was the best cabernet blend he'd ever had. Not sure why my check in picked up the Optical side of Costco, but this review is solely pointed at the store as a whole versus the department side. Yes, most Costco's are the same and the Novato is no exception, but I do enjoy the movement and flow of shoppers here which seems to move a tad faster compared to some other local stores in the bay area. As usual good selection of produce, meat, snacks, and various house goods at a reasonable price. The big advantage this store has over many is how fast the checkout lines move, I swear they move much quicker than others, which is great if you have ever endured the long lines that form at Costco stores. Parking can be difficult at times as this store is located in a strip mall with many other chain stores. With the parking ordeal aside, I'd suggest and early morning visit or late night as either or have less traffic in the area which is always key when stocking up on goods. read more

THEY KEEP ME ON THE ROAD I've been getting tires for all our four cars at Costco Tire Center for years. Most of the time, the tires are in stock, but if not, it's easy enough to order them on-line, and you get email messages on when they arrive at the warehouse. The waiting time to get the tires on or rotated always seems to be an hour and a half ours, no matter what day or time I go. But, if you plan on doing your Costco shopping while they do your tires, the time goes by fast. If you need to kill some time, there are plenty of shops nearby. I am pregnant woman who is wearing the mask inside Costco because they are demanding it despite how dizzy it makes me feel to wear it. By order of my physician I bring it below my nose a little bit when I start feeling dizzy, so I don't fall. Today a lady who works at Costco as folding clothing saw me when I stopped walking and pulled dow a little bit to rest and get more oxygen, and she just very rudely yelled at me PUT YOUR MASK UP!. I never took it off, I was just breathing. Then I put it back and ignored her. She reported me with another employee and the guy started following me to the whole store, treating me like if was a criminal. And then he told me the same thing, even though I had my face mask in place. Wearing a face mask it is not a law, and if you are so fricked out because of the C19 just shut down the whole store. Before getting pregnant I was making fun of every one who was wearing the mask "inappropriately" you know just covering the mouth, but now I get it. They are feeling dizzy just like me from the lack of oxygen because of wearing those mask. I thought my blood pressure was off, but not. My Doctor said "these things" (wearing face masks) are not good for humans. But here is there folding clothing lady telling me how to take care of my health without any good manners. read more

Popped in real fast to grab a couple of items. The issue was with the cashier Jacky. She was very rude and exhibited zero customer service. Before she scanned our card she was way busy with another cashier discussing a friend getting hired for a job or something to that extent. No good afternoon when we walked up in line. She just said in a blatantly rude quick way "do you have your card". When we were processing the transaction I requested for a box because we had a lot of individual groceries. Now I know working in customer service (because I did 6+ years in retail) you have to attempt to accommodate the customer as best as you can. I realize that if you don't have boxes under your register or the one next to you that you would at least attempt to locate one in the vicinity. She just very nonchalantly said "we don't have boxes. Look somewhere up front". I go to Costco often but don't really know where "up front" means. I'm not asking any employee to move mountains for me but could you act like you were trying to help just a little bit. Especially during times like these. read more

We go to Costco about once a week to stock up on things like pesto sauce, peanut butter, organic kale, & mixed nuts. The samples are a nice feature, but get there early as they pack up about an hour before the store closes. Each year we use Costco to print our family Xmas cards and they do a great job at an amazing price. my gripes are: no debit cards or credit cards (amex, cash or check) they move stuff around, on purpose, not even the employees can find items, so nobody knows if they are sold out, or on the other side of the store. So much shopping at Costco. So very much. The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because their affiliate services have never once followed through on their appointments. We tried to do a refinance, buy counters and Leaf Guard gutters, all to no avail. However, the good is great. Bulk prices are fantastic, and who can say no to a delicious, oh so fattening churro? Huge selection of fruits and veggies, both organic and not. Tons of booze, if you're into that. Baked goods, tires, gluten free, fruit trees, you name it, they probably have it. Vacuum that does the work for you? Yup. Vacuum that doesn't do the work for you? Got that too. Random crap nobody will ever need but that you absolutely have to have. Pots, pans, dishes, dish soap, laundry soap, general cleaning supplies, cat tress, cat food, dog food. The sheer amount of stuff is overwhelming. It's no wonder I can never leave there without spending at least 300 dollars. read more

Not necessarily for the store part but for the receptionist for eye exams. I was in the waiting room and there was no one else in the waiting room but she and I. I had to take a quick phone call since it was regarding my insurance company and I was whispering so I wouldn't disturb. This rude receptionist told me to leave the room and go into the loud store part of Costco itself for my call. She was so rude about it and she had an attitude with everyone else that came in while I was waiting after I ended my call. If you can't be cordial with customers why be a fucking receptionist. Had a great experience at Costco Optical. Had them make lenses for a pair of frames I'd purchased in NYC. The woman who waited on me was pleasant and efficient. My glasses were ready in less than a week! Carl took care of me for the fitting and he was excellent -- friendly, knowledgable and very helpful. I had a wonderful experience in the bakery dept. yesterday. I needed to buy a sheet cake for a going away party for a co-worker who is leaving. I was given good old-fashioned customer service by Suzan, she asked me if I needed help, she brought out all the sheet cakes she had in stock so I could pick out which decoration I felt was appropriate and then wrote on the cake also. My wife ordered new eye glasses from Costco a month ago and she went to see her non Costco ophthalmologist yesterday . Ophthalmologist found out her new eyeglasses does not match with her prescription . We went back to Costco and talk to the same gentleman who ordered it for us . He checked the eyeglasses and he agreed to send it back to the factory to fix it . I asked him you do not have any type of quality control to avoid this type of issues ? He answered " NO BODY IS PERFECT and we do more than 5000 eyeglasses every day and this is routine". I will leave it for the management to decide this type of answer is right or not . read more

Seems like 80% of the people I encounter here hate their jobs or are power hungry. I've been treated very rudely multiple times there now. There are some really great people there that I've encountered as well it must suck to be so positive working with so many rude people. Called made appt in advance asked if they do contacts for kids. They said yes so I schedule my almost 14 yo son. Dr. Shyu was wonderful but unfortunately the reception was extremely rude and short w him. Don't make appointments for kids if you aren't patient and can't be nice. I paid $148 for nothing basically. When the eye doc took a second and jumped in to help everything went well. But when the receptionist took over she was snappy and rude. We got contacts in, he took them out we had to wait for the receptionist as she got up and left about every minute or two. Not sure what kind of a teaching lesson that was supposed to be. Anyways we left irritated and sans contacts. Wasted hours and $150 w nothing to show for it. Not happy.... read more
