I've been to this TJMaxx two times already. Each time I've found deals on women's clothing, home decor and stationery. Plus, they were all in excellent condition and the tags remained. Whenever I've come here for items, the place is neatly stacked and have lots of items to choose from. Located on busy streets of San Rafael, I am able to get here without much traffic congestion as long as I go midday away from peak hours. This TJMaxx has ample parking as well. Although quite far from my workplace, I will continue to look for bargains here now that I know that this place is neatly organized and have items in ongoing supply. read more

Rude lady sherry with a pixie cut needs to check her attitude when talking to customers. Was in the perfume section testing out perfumes and she rudely goes "can u not spray that" with a stank stare and pissy tone. How else am I supposed to purchase a perfume that surely smells better than her hot breath. read more

Shopping at TJ MAXX is dangerously FUN. I rarely walk out empty-handed. It's a treasure hunt. I never know what I will find. Do I need anything? Not really, but I end up buying anyway. Some stores are better than others but of course there are so many locations, that you can choose where to shop. read more

I have been a regular customer at this TJ Maxx store for about 10 years. Usually they have a good sized line that moves along rather quickly, and they have a system that notifies the person at the front of the line to go to the next available register. I was waiting at the front of the line, and there were NO other customers either in front of me, or behind me. It was quite slow; it was about 8 p.m. I was standing there with a bunch of merchandise in my arms, and a rather heavy jar of honey in one of my hands. I checked my watch. 5 minutes had gone by. The THREE checkers behind the counter were talking and laughing and were ignoring me. Why , - I don't know. Finally I got very angry and looked at the one clostest to me. He did NOT even ask me to come over to the register; - he just looked at me. No - "I am sorry, can I help you ?" , - or ANYTHING ! I was so insulted that I dropped everything on the counter, and simply walked away. They said not one thing to me. Not one apology or any aknowlegement. It was like I was - invisible. If anyone from TJ Maxx is reading this, let me tell you that your employees have a problem with their eyesight, or their hearing or - with actual - MANNERS. First of all, this TJ Maxx is huge. Lots of ground to cover here. You could easily kill an hour going from section to section if you're not looking for anything in particular. Impressive designer section in the back of the store for women's clothes at least. They had Tory Burch, Rag & Bone, Equipment, Coach just to name a few. The designer items are priced accordingly though so you kind of have to dig around and hopefully get lucky for the really good steals. Also shackled to the wall in the back was a Celine bag for $1299 (retail $1800). Since when did they start selling Celine bags at these discount stores?! The shelves were full in all the aisles I'd seen, albeit definitely could be cleaned up a little. A lot of the clothing racks weren't the most organized but then again this place had just gone through black friday mayhem. This TJ Maxx was also selling some things I haven't seen anywhere else. Can we say a Pacman arcade machine? Yours for $1999 in case you were wondering. Employees were friendly when you interacted with them but also let you get your shop on in peace. Overall, I would definitely put this on my short list of places to shop for designer items at a discount and Ghirardelli chocolates for the office. Milk chocolate caramel hmmm. read more

It's a discount store not Nordstrom or Bloomingdales so there is more searching through the racks for bargains. More hassle in getting a dressing room. And the restooms, um, yikes. Customer service is actually pretty good, although there is often some waiting involved if I want to see an item that is attached to the security system. I've found a lot of clothes, purses, beauty items here for way cheaper than elsewhere. The cashiers are somewhat friendly to very friendly and I don't have any complaints, for what it is. For a discount Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Ross type of store, this is 5 stars. read more

I'm obsessed with bargain shopping and of course TJ Maxx has a lot of great deals. Since I'm new to the area, I decided to check this one out. I wanted to redecorate my apartment and I knew TJ Maxx has a lot of great stuff. First let me say, all the employees are really great and helpful! There were a couple of times where I needed some clarification about an item or needed to find something. Everyone was really nice and put the effort in to help out. The reason why I'm giving this place three stars is just that there's not too many things in this specific store. I used to enjoy shopping here. They changed the way racks are displayed. Yuk! The flooring is disgusting from them moving the displays. Looks downright gross. Who goes to TJ Max to purchase a $599 ugly Alexander Wang halter top that supposedly "compares to a $1200 price" elsewhere? I use to think of this store as a discount gem, but no longer. How exciting to find they were open! Although my primary loyalty lies with the Home Gods store, TJ Maxx has clothes and jewelry which Home Goods does not have. In addition to home products, food, hair and skin care items, you'd think having clothes and jewelry would put this place in first place. I did purchase my favorite pair of earrings here. They were lovely silky multiple gold strands made in Italy that looked amazing with almost anything. "Were", I say, as I lost them on a flight home from Denver :-( Maybe they'll be another I thought, so I'll go and see what stuff they have. Nope. No comparison. TJ's is like the not nice sister of your best friend. You'll be pleasant but won't really want to spend time around her. Sad to see that this reopening had 1/2 the products as before and the selection was minimal. If you need luggage or a blanket I think you could come here. If you wanted jewelry you could give here a go although the selection now is slight and maybe too you'd find a short sleeve shirt or pants. Maybe. Perhaps as time goes on, they'll restock and have more to peruse. This location is extremely convenient for me! My apartment is furnished with soooo many cute finds from this location. The only critique would be the organization and the variety. I do visit Homegoods at Northgate and Marshall's in Novato almost on a weekly basis and I feel like they get inventory/change their inventory more frequently. Otherwise, the employees at this location are always very friendly and although the line can get long sometimes at checkout, the cashiers take their time to wrap up fragile items (such as candles or lamps!) and make sure everything is packed neatly for their customers and it is appreciated! read more

Huge store, well organized,( Bras are a a nightmare) great markdowns, especially in the Hand Bags Dept and very nice staff. Great gift selection. Cosmetics and Lotions etc have doubled. I was fan of this place until they took out the plus size section, there are barely few pieces probably about 15-20 horrible ones. They even took the sign down. Active wear forget it. So I guess they don't want plus size clients here. Jose C the store manager was a complete jerk. He mishandled my return, lost the contents and then acted like I lied about it instead of looking for the missing pieces of the juicer I wanted to return. He kept me in line without checking in with me for 30 minutes waiting to return the juicer. He then kept me waiting for another 15minutes to find the manual he inferred I lied about having with the warranty information in it. I think he enjoyed playing a control game with me and when I called him out on his a hole behavior he was proud of it, said he would complain about me if I called corporate for saying the truth. Went to TJ MAXX in San Rafael and was pleasantly surprised by the helpful associates. I wanted to buy 2 plant stands but they were stacked and stuck together. An associate named Shone came over right away to assist me in separating the plant stands. They were really stuck; he had to actually sit on the floor to pull them apart. He was so proactive; I didn't have to search for help. What a great ambassador for the store. I go there all the time now; they have great stuff and a wonderful staff. Review #117 - 2016 I've driven pass this TJ Maxx so many times, but I've never actually been here to shop until my sister asked me to take her here last Sunday right after church service. She needed to buy a new camisole because she said her dress was too low cute, but ended up not wearing it. I'm glad she asked me to come along because I ended up getting two Warriors shirts for my son. He loved his new shirts and asked if he can wear them as soon as I showed him, when I went back to pick him up from church. I wasn't really looking for anything for myself, but I notice that this place is pretty well organized and roomy. Most other locations are kind of small so you always end up pushing your shopping cart into the clothes racks because they're so close to each other. You'd be lucky that someone else doesn't push their cart into you. I'm sure I'll be back again should I ever need to buy a dress for church or something... read more

two words... DEAD MICE!!! If I could leave ZERO stars, I would have. Visited this store on Saturday to buy a few new saucepans/kitchenware. Price is good for value so why not. Found 3 pans on the bottom shelf, picked them up and saw a MICE STICKY TRAP that had been placed on top of these items with TWO DEAD mice stuck on the top of 3 frying pans. EWW!! obviously freaked out dropped the pans and my boyfriend ran over to one of the associates. She came over freaked out. Brought another lady over - she came over and freaked out too! she went to get a manager. We were stood by the item for 15 minutes before anyone came over. In the mean while other customers waked past in horror and left the store. Then other customers came up to us and said they had found more round the corner... UN-hygienic!!! eww Finally two managers came over. walked straight past us & we said "we've been waiting here for ages, we didn't want anyone else to see this or a child to pick it up!!" they both walked straight past us, didn't say a word and sweeped up the dead mice and LEFT THE FRYING PANS THERE! so casual. We chose 3 other pans - hanging ones (so no mice had crawled on them) we took them to the front and said... "it's a surprise that we are still buying anything here at all, but we need new pans. We couldn't have the 3 that we wanted because we found 2 dead MICE on them SO we are purchasing these. We would like a discount since we pretty much picked dead mice up and waited 15 minutes for anyone to show." The one girl was totally understanding and agreed but the manager - her name was MEL. SAID "UHH FINE, we'll give you 10% off ($5.00) " and then continued to mumble to the associate whilst she was ringing me up. RUDE. Low end merchandise and prices? I beg to differ. I visited this TJ Maxx last night for the first time and found the following brands: Prada Chloe Kate Spade Trina Turk Michael Kors The Chloe bag was $1,299. You are not going to find this at Ross. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and selection of the merchandise. Purchased two swim suits, both were very reasonably priced. The MSRP tags on each piece was $60-90 and I got a two-piece bikini for $29 and $49. In my opinon, almost Old Navy or Ross prices. Check it out! read more

If I could give it no stars I would simply based on terrible customer service. If you hate your job, get a new one! Bought a shower curtain at TJ Maxx in Oregon and it didn't look right with my wall color so went here to return. The two ladies at the register were rude and said I need to go to Home Goods to return. I said I bought at at a TJ Maxx, as the receipt showed. Because the tag on the curtain was Home Goods they couldn't return. It's not the fact that I have to now go to a DIFFERENT STORE, but the rude, flippant, and b@tchy attitudes was unacceptable. This store has been open 1 whole week and it already looks old and tired, thanks in part to their design but also because of the way they display things. And, the prices are hardly great bargains. This used to be a Borders. They should have kept the previous finishes instead of gutting and starting over. The floors are white vinyl tile, just like my grandparents kitchen in 1959. The lighting is bright fluorescent lighting, just like my grade school in 1961. The walls are bright white, just like Marcus Welby's hospital rooms in 1969. This store has a little bit of everything from housewares to shoes to clothing. Most of the housewares are major brands but the cheapest lines of those brands. There is a reason that Cuisinart sauté pan is only $25. It's the line with the cheapest metal and poorly fitting lids. It won't last long which means you didn't really save much because you'll be out shopping for a new one soon. The clothes? Selection is large but it is not easy to find things that I actually want to wear. Selection based on style and size is very hit or miss. You have to invest a lot of time searching for the items you might want to try on, with absolutely no guarantee that you will find a complete outfit where the sizes match. And after going through all that trouble to find the matching outfit in the right size, trying it on to be sure and waiting in line to pay, you realize it really wasn't any cheaper than waiting for the sales at Macy's, Bloomies or Nordstrom. It's alright here. But the clearance stuff is picked over. In contrast, you'll find stuff like Vince, Splendid, Ella Moss, Free People, and James Perse in the clearance aisles in the Central Valley. (Still kinda pricey, but a lot better than at full price. I like it when there are like 3 clearance stickers- now, we're talkin'.) But there are some things that don't make it to the Central Valley, such as a couple of mini Longchamp pliage and Rebecca Minkoff bags. It's not a big deal since you have a higher chance of finding better colors at Fresno's Nordstrom Rack. read more

This is definitely a four-star TJ Maxx! They carry Tory Burch brand and lots of other designers which you won't find at every T.J. Maxx. They have a huge selection of clothing and home goods too. My only complaint is their jewelry section. They have 1 person working behind the counter who is always overworked and that's the only reason I take away one star. Otherwise this is my favorite TJ Maxx location. Definitely go towards the back of the store where they have the designer section. You will find amazing deals! read more

Ricardo is the sweetest and most helpful Sales Associate at this store. He always finds a way to exceed my expectations by offering to help me carry my heavy bags to my car, ringing me up with quick and awesome service, and most importantly, greeting me with a big smile every time. He is part of the reason why I keep returning to this store. TJ Maxx should be happy to have him. The store itself has some pretty cool stuff. They carry a lot of name brand goods and unique home decor. I always find at least one item to purchase when I come here.
