The grounds are kept very clean and the business appears to be run by an older man and woman. I had a short wait, as there were two customers ahead of me. I learned that he tries to repair while you wait. The lady assured me he would be with me soon. Five minutes later I met the gentleman and showed him my broken glasses. He told me they could be repaired but involved repairing the hinges and other items. He gave me a price quote-which I felt was very fair considering the damage. I paid up front (they do take credit cards) and I told him he could have them for a few days. I came back a few days later and the glasses looked great. When I later needed my PD (pupillary distance)--a basic part of the exam--to order glasses, the front desk told me they would not provide it because I was not buying glasses from them. This was surprising and very disappointing, because PD is part of the exam results that I already paid for. Even more concerning: When my family member called the same clinic later, the staff suddenly said they could provide the PD. This inconsistency raises questions about professionalism and fairness. Diabetics have the potential for blindness because of uncontrolled blood sugar. So you need to get retinal scans and not every optometrist office does them but this office does. Despite that, I was then sold glasses for computer work along with an extra $75 charge for a "special blue light" feature that was supposed to help slow the damage to my eyes. Between my out-of-pocket cost and what was billed to my insurance, the total ended up being much higher than expected. I also noticed "Calvin Klein" billed through insurance, which made no sense considering I had just been told insurance wouldn't cover glasses because I didn't need a prescription. I left the appointment extremely worried and was told to see a specialist. Looking back, there were a lot of red flags, but at the time I was scared something was seriously wrong with my eyesight. Two weeks later, after picking up the "GFBriller" glasses, I saw a specialist at Kaiser and was told my eyes are perfectly healthy. I was informed that blue light glasses are largely a marketing gimmick, and I now feel like I was manipulated into buying unnecessary products through fear and misinformation.
