I hate writing bad reviews but after coming here this morning I have to share my experience. Employees are rude as heck (if you can even find them on the sales floor). The woman checking cards at the door was barking at people to show their cards. I was shopping for InstaCart, and when I told her she replied with "well why did you just say that?" Checking out was a nightmare. Had to suspend my order at self checkout, when I reached the cashier he wouldn't listen to me, repeatedly asked me for the membership card while I was trying to find it and started rescanning already scanned items, not to mention he ignored the second order I had clearly separated. I also noticed other cashiers carelessly flinging items around inside the carts scanning them. The parking lot is a nightmare, had people beeping at me while I was organizing my items in my car because they wanted my parking space (but I guess that's the general public, not the company). Needless to say I won't be accepting anymore orders from this store or getting a membership. Stressful experience from start to finish. read more

They are only allowing people in groups of two. My group was three, my wife, daughter, and I. When I asked why the reason given was that "when two people come out, we can only allow two in" They were serious. When I asked why couldn't we wait for three people to leave, the person could bot answer m s. I was just asking for elementary level math to be used, but apparently that was too difficult. Okay, this review is actually for the Auto tire shop there and it was a year or two ago. If I were you, I would NOT get my tires replaced here. After I got my front tires replaced they very clearly put it on wrong or something because every week I had to go back because I had a flat tire. It was my front drivers side tire. I was only 17 having to go there legit every week. I would get stranded places randomly because I would go outside and my tire was just too flat to drive on and I'd have to call people to come fill it up to get it to Costco so they can say they are fixing a leak in my tire and then a week, sometimes a couple days later I would be right back there. Just don't do it I am so unbelievably frustrated still to this day. That front tire is always flat. I am not exaggerating at all, I basically spent my senior year of high school at costco. read more

Did you ever have that moment when you knew a you were about to endure a whole lot of aggravation which was gonna take escalation after escalation to resolve it and it gives you anxiety to even think about it. Well that's the kind of situation I was preparing myself for when I walked into Costco today because it was EXACTLY the treatment I received before it was escalated to Mikki. A kind hearted, sweetheart who's only goal was to resolve my issue and she did just that treating me exactly the way I should be treated. I have dealt with Costco supervisors before regarding something different and they are just rude, arrogant, dismissive and unprofessional. So when you hire someone who knows how to treat the public the way they should be treated then I feel I should take the time to reciprocate. I have been a member of Costco for more than 20 years. All the time I l think that Costco will provide good customer service. But my impression about Costco customer service has changed recently. I went to shop in the Mountain View, CA warehouse on 2/9/2109. Then as usual, I paid the merchandises at the register. After having scanned the merchandises, I paid the merchandises. The Cashier then gave me a receipt. I pushed my shopping cart to exit where an Associate checked my receipt and the merchandises in the shopping cart. The Associate then said that there was an item in the cart which I had not paid. I explained to him that it was not my fault, and asked him which item had not been paid. I told him that I was in a hurry and that he could take away the so called "unpaid" item. However, he said that he did not know which item had not been paid and told me to push my shopping cart to another customer representative who would sort it out for me. There were many customers around me, and they looked at me whilst I was talking to the associate. I felt very embarrassing. I felt that Costco was treating me as a thief stealing merchandises from Costco. It is the duty and responsibility of the Cashier to scan the merchandises thoroughly. As a customer, I trust the Cashier doing their job properly, and pay the merchandises according to what they say during check out. On this occasion, the Cashier omitted to ring an item during check out, resulting me being treated as a thief to steal something from Costco. The management of Costco should direct their staffs to be more careful to avoid causing embarrassment to customers. Do not let we customers to pay for the mistakes made by their staffs. read more

In order for your membership to work you MUST be good in MATH. Everything is not a bargain at Costco. Buying a ton of something can be convenient but not really a deal. So here's the things you should buy: 1. Meat. This is easy see what the price is per pound. It's cheaper. 2. Cereal. Always cheaper. 3. Cooking Oil. and condiments. Giant ketchups and Mustards, spices... 4. Bread. Rolls. Cakes. Deserts...... 5. Booze. Buy ALL your alcohol at Costco! It's so so much Cheaper. 6. Candy. 7. Electronics like Laptops and TV's are almost always cheaper but comparison shop to make sure. 8. Glasses. the kind you wear on yo face. Cheaper! 9. Pain relievers. Giant generic Ibuprofens or aspirin are cheaper. 10. Big bags of salad are generally cheaper but not fruit and veggies. Always go with an empty stomach and stop and eat ALL the samples. That's a meal in itself. In the front the hotdog /soda deal is unreal and giant delicious pizza's for 10 bux? Really? Yup. The gas station if they have one is a few cents cheaper too but not worth waiting on line for. Don't buy vitamins, toothbrushes, cold cuts, toilet paper, sheets, towels, clothes, and anything that could go bad in a day or two like a giant bag of fruit. The best place to save on toiletries and TP is CVS but you have to know the tricks and believe it or not Walmart is cheaper in many many areas. Rock on people and once you save put a little away for a rainy day. read more

This Costco is a very strange experience. After going here, it makes me think twice about a membership. Here are the reasons: * Store is stocked well which is great. * Workers - from the second you come in, you are accosted by a miserable worker who makes me feel like I'm at the Berlin wall, checking you for documentation. Ones at the register are no better and have the personality of a box of corn flakes. * Customers - Every time I've been there, the store is flooded with 50 year olds who are overweight, and acting like the apocalypse is here and pushing their way by you. Basically zero manners. * Prices - sorry, but what it all comes down to. Yes, some items are priced better here, but as a whole, you can get the same prices at Market Basket, and you don't need to have a membership. read more

Worst Costco on the planet. Their gas pumping policy is beyond ridiculous. Why is this the only gas station where you can't pull the hose across the vehicle. Results in artificially long lines. The gas pump really sucks. There is always a long line and half of the pump is empty. Such a stupid design. Why not allow both side of the pump to be used, just replace the hose with a longer one like on other costco location. I used to live in indiana and the costco there has long hose so it doesn't matter what car you have you can use all the pump. Costco if you are reading this please make this change. We have been going here for years and have typically encountered kind and well-mannered employees. Today we met Paula. She was running the register at our checkout and was rude, accusatory, and unwelcoming. When we got up to the head of the line we accidentally gave her a BJ's card. She gave dirty looks, held the card up to our face with a nasty look, and said nothing. We then gave her the correct catds and explained that we were doing two orders. We had a friend with us and Paula was unhappy. She rudely said you have to be a member to shop in the store and was about to not ring up our items. I let her know that we pay our $110 a year and are certainly members. She ratlled on about needing to be a member and then refused to make two separate orders and we had to pay it in full. This was fine but utterly stupid considering so many things. If we did self checkout it wouldn't have mattered. If we had made purchases online it wouldn't have mattered. If our friend had gotten a membership on her way in, she could have made her purchases and then canceled her membership under Costco policy and gotten her money back after the transaction. We spend thousands of dollars here every year and her treatment was intolerable. Earlier in the transaction I had mentioned that I hope her days gets better since she was miserable even before we spoke to her. On my way out she passed the receipt to me and said I HOPE YOUR DAY GETS BETTER with a witch-like laugh as she chomped on get wad of gum. We will be canceling our membership and getting a refund. Truly a let down. Will also let corporate know of our experience as I'm certain it does not meet their standards. I am not asking for an exception to the rules, just for tact and respect when they are being reinforced. Paula didn't believe we were members and thought we were trying to get away with something which is honestly laughable. We are three professionals in our 40's who enjoy some bulk shopping and good deals. We also paid with a $90 gift certificate we had earned with our last year of purchases as executive members. Best store ever. They take good care of their help and it shows. The employees their are always eager to help you,most likely with a smile. They make good when backing their products. They only carry good product. Most everything with the Kirkland Signature is over the top. I've purchased so many great things that sometimes you never see agsin, which leaves you wishing you bought more than one. It seems when their buyers find an exceptional product they pounce on it. What can you really say about Costco? People say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but they clearly haven't been to Costco on a Saturday at 11:30. Enough samples to be a free lunch. Way more than BJ's. Don't be shy. My one other Costco tip. We used to buy Blue Buffalo dog food. It was around $40 for a 30 pound bag. The Kirkland (Costco store brand) dog food is nutritionally and ingredient identical to Blue Buffalo. 40 pound bag for $26. You do the math. With two golden retrievers, dog food alone makes my membership worthwhile, even without the free lunch. They recently added a gas station as well, which if it doesn't have a wait is well worth the stop. read more

oh costco, why do you always influence me to buy yummy snacks and food in bulk?! The hubby and I got a membership when we lived in AK and we had a small studio so it didn't get much use. Now that we have our own apartment and a normal size fridge we can stock up on lots of stuff. Toilet paper? check. Queso dip? yes please! chips? of course with the dip. It's only the two of us but we entertain frequently and its nice to have an ample amount of snacks and cleaning supplies for spillage. Although we can't do our regular food shopping here because some of the quantities are just too rediculous and we'd end up wasting, costco is always a fun trip. Costcos haven generally been friendly and helpful. This one is nice b/c it has the gas station (only one in MA to have it). They also have self checkout and wine/alcohol section. 2 NEGATIVES: 1. Usually, you get a cup for water at Costco food courts but not here. They tell you to buy a bottle. 2. The early 30s lady working at the photo center. She's not nice at all and gave me so much attitude. Odd thing was she was friendly to the 2 white American customers ahead of me but when it was my turn she was a total witch. She was even joking around and having a good time with her co-worker. I tried being nice and smiled a lot but she probably thought I was hitting on her. When i came back for my photos she didn't even look at me. She just told me it's around the corner while she was fidgeting with something else. I even said bye and she just looked at me. I freaking love Costco! We are a small family (just me, hubs,and a baby), but having a newborn means you don't really get to go out as much as you'd like. That also means that it's smart to stock up on lots of products in the house so that you don't have to run to the supermarket every week. The Costco membership is around $50/year, and it pays for itself after a trip or two. We get mostly paper products (toilet paper, napkins, plates, etc.) and cleaning supplies in bulk here. It also has some of the best prices around for formula and diapers (their "house" brand, Kirkland, makes diapers comparable to Pampers, Huggies, etc. at a much lower price). They send out a coupon booklet about once a month, and I usually schedule my buying needs around the coupons. They always have coupons for things that I use, so if I can pick up stuff I need at an even cheaper price, what's the harm in stocking up? :-) Their meat department is EXCELLENT. Every time we have a BBQ or party, we always get our meat here and we are never disappointed. We also love buying their chicken cutlets and keeping them in the freezer. They come individually packed and sealed, so they are always fresh. Their beef products don't, so they will not keep as long. Keep that in mind! They also have a lot of seasonal products in stock (lights, decorations, wreaths, etc. around Xmas time, and grills, patio furniture, beach supplies, etc. in the summer) and they are always at great prices. They also recently just added a gas station. The prices aren't insanely cheap (the gas stations on Rt 1 nearby have taken note and lowered their prices as well), and the lines for gas are always long, but if you have a car with a big tank, you'll see the savings more than I do with my little car with an 8-gallon tank. But, beware, because for some reason, Costco only takes cash, check, and American Express. They don't take any other credit card, BUT they do take debit cards. So, if you have a debit card with a MC or Visa symbol on it, you can use it, but as PIN-based debit only. Oh, and for those who don't shop wholesale a lot, keep in mind that there are no bags at checkout. They have some free boxes that you can put your stuff in and take with you, but we get smaller stuff sometimes, so I always go in with a few of those fold-up reusable nylon bags and use those to carry my stuff out in. read more

Must be the worst location to have a business. I cannot stand shopping here. Where do I start... 1. Location- if you live north of this location you need to pass it on route 1, change directions and probably get stuck in traffic to get back to the southbound lane of route 1 to battle for parking. 2. Parking- Good luck! I have never found a parking space any where near the place. It feels like I have to pack a lunch and stop for a break before I get near the front door. 3. Entry into the building- better not forget your card! Although I have never forgotten my card, it is a pain having to dig it out of my wallet. And show it to the Door Proctor. Are we in the Lunch line? It's not like every person isn't spending at least $200 to pick up paper towels and Toilet paper. 4. Shopping- can't find a rhyme or reason to product placement.... why is the bread near the mattresses? 5. Check out- I have my Card! I get the membership thing.... Cash is king, but if you have to pay with a credit card or a bank card make sure it is not Master Card, Amex or Diners club. 6. Hot food counter- thank goodness I can grab a snack so I can make the journey back to my car. 7. Exiting the building- welcome back to preschool... here is my receipt. I'm surprised they don't make you show your Membership card to leave the building. Make sure to Count every item in my cart. Now I can walk the Gauntlet/parking lot back to my vehicle. 8. Need Gas?- decent prices... but Don't forget your card and Bring a Book. It's going to be a while...Unless of course your gas tank is on the opposite side of everyone else in line. Since customers are only allowed to drive in one way. I cannot wait until the membership expires.... read more

How can you go wrong here?? They have fantastic quailty everything!! When we bought our house, we came here and bought patio furniture, grill and lawn chairs, that was 5 yrs ago and they ALL still look great!!! We even leave it out all year round and just cover it up! Their fruits and vegetables are always super fresh and very reasonably priced! I come here at least once/wk to stock up, especially in the summer, its like cookout central! If your sign up for exec member, you get a check back at the end of the year to use here, its worth it if you spend a lot.I got a $190 check last yr! I could nit pick that they don't have everything a supermarket carries but that isn't what they are. They ARE all about having high quality food at reasonable if not ridiculously cheap prices. Their rotisserie chickens are FABULOUS. Downright delicious and much bigger than what you get at any supermarket. Taste much better as well and incredibly FRESH. You can get them right out of the oven. In addition, they have a bunch of items that have immediate "rebates" Today I bought a McCormick 19oz Bourbon Brown Sugar Seasoning. Never tried it but for $3 and change, you can't pass it up. The cashiers are friendly and fast. Forgot to mention you get a rebate at the end of the year so it saves you even more. read more

I buy local whenever I can, but if I have to buy from a big-box store, Costco is the way to go. It seems like a "wholesale" store would lack good customer service, but that's not true here. I bought an office chair, and the leather on the arms started "peeling" after a year or so. Some people may have tossed the chair out or repaired it, but I paid $200, and thought it should last longer. I brought it back, and Costco gave me my money back with no hassle. So, I like the way they stand behind their products - which are usually great. read more

We've shopped at Costco for years and in the past have been wildly enthusiastic, however, the quality and selection of their product, particularly fruit has really gone downhill in the last year and is getting worse. For the last several months, we wind up tossing at least a quarter of the fruit either because it is moldy(really!) or either over or underripe and never ripens. Be VERY cautious buying produce there. The meat still is excellent, but I wonder when the accountants are going to go after that too. read more

I love Costco but this one is mediocre at best. Here's why: 1. They don't carry SPAM...the one college food source other than Ramen that Asian need to survive; and 2. They use to carry these awesome frozen burritos but discontinued after a while. And instead they replaced it with crappy ass healthy rice and bean or bean and cheese. I don't know, maybe a billion years ago someone gave me a six month membership to Costco as a gift. (jeez, could you spare it). I never used it because I don't need 50 pound cans of Campbell's soup. Finally while cleaning out my home desk I relocated this gift card & said what the hell. I tried it. I was right, the food is not fit for a house hold less than say four. But they do have some great deals on office supplies, paper products etc. I've even bought some Dockers & such here. Plus go on a boring Saturday & you can eat for free. There can be so many free samples that you will walk out full. They have a Verizon kiosk and if you dare I guess you can get tires too. I honestly think if you can buy in bulk you should consider joining. Parking lot is big & forget about getting a close parking spot. Isles are wide so there's little aggravation. They don't take credit cards except Am ex, but you can use your debit card. read more

Nothing bad to say about this place. I've probably visited this place close to 200 times in my lifetime as my father is their best customer and he would get the "KIRKLAND SIGNATURE" (store brand) tattooed on himself if he could (who knows, maybe as he gets older and more senile, he might actually do this! haha). Everything at Costco is great, but here are some of my highlights: Meats: Quite the selection of meats, and the butchers will even go out of their way to cut you something to your liking if you can't find it in the meat case. The price is right, and the cuts of meat are very fresh. Liquor/Wine: Outstanding service and great selection. The best prices around... I go out of my way to stock up on Oyster Bay sauvignon blanc here- you can't get it anywhere cheaper! Clothing: Believe it or not, the clothes are not bad. They cycle through inventory pretty regularly and have pretty good quality of clothes for reasonable prices. I've bought everything from pajamas to underwear, jeans (for my dad), socks, and some of their winter and fall coats are better prices than you can find anywhere (If you're not a snob about wearing a name brand!) Return Policy: One of the best return policies you can find anywhere. They will take anything. From tomatoes that just aren't fresh enough, to clothing that has been worn and not been satisfactory. I never make purchases here worried about "what-if's" as I do in many other stores. Sometimes the check-out is a little slow due to congestion, and its pretty impossible to get a parking spot close to the store... my only 2 semi-complaints. Get a Costco AMEX or be prepared to pay with a debit card. This place is so much better than BJ's. read more

So I went to Costco today. I came across a older gentleman handing out crackers with humus on them. As I picked up a sample the worker blew his nose then continued to put out more samples. I immediately found a trash barrel and threw out the sample. I told the women that was handing out samples a aisle over from him that he shouldn't be handing out food after he blew his nose. As I was telling her he blew his nose yet again and continued to hand out samples. She seemed annoyed that I even said something to her. We have been avid CostCo shoppers for over 15 years. When we are traveling we will sometimes stop in at the local CostCo just to check it out - especially the newer ones. Perhaps we are a little obsessed, but that is another story. I would not normally review this place but after reading another comment I had to relay a story of just how good CostCo is to its members. We had bought a large screen TV there and ended up having the optical input plug fail 100 days after purchase. After numerous conversations with different service reps, the manufacturer would not (initially) stand by the warranty and would only offer an out of warranty repair at my cost. I called CostCo corporate, but they could not do anything to assist. They suggested I contact the individual store manager since the problem was so close to the return date limit (90 days). I gave it a shot, giving the store a call. The store manager brought up the purchase, told me to get the TV fixed and said they would reimburse me for the repair. Calling the manufacturer back to arrange the repair, I relayed the story to the new service rep, who recognized how bad this made them look. The rep arranged the repair, escalated the problem and the repair was done under warranty within 2 weeks. Their return policy is legendary. Some items are a bargain, others just a fair price. Occasionally there are things that you are better off buying elsewhere. Like anything, it pays to know what a good price point is for things you buy on a regular basis. Tip: When you shop CostCo stores in MA there are a few things to know. First, do they have gasoline? Second, do they have a liquor store that is company owned. If they are not company owned they do not carry the Kirkland brand items. Kirkland is the in-house brand and is a particularly good value. They quickly sell out of certain limited offerings because the quality is so high for the price.
