Yikes. Look at the best purchase by date for their prepackaged food. I didn't and noticed when I got home that the Svenhard pastries date was 3 months old. This was before I broke the plastic wrap. So I didn't get to look at the pastries up close. Either way, I'm not eating it and back I go to get a refund. The associate, at the return counter, was terrific. Easy enough to get a refund. But I go back shopping recently, and I find a pile of Svenhard pastries with even an older best purchase by date on the sales floor. Good grief! I reached for a pack of Archer Jeff jerky. Lesson learned, I looked at the date before putting it into my cart. Glad I did. The date was May 2025. Double good grief. It's December. 7 months past the date. (Sigh)

I know this might be a controversial opinion, but I prefer Sam's Club's pizza over Costco's pizza. Sam's Club's four meat pizza is delicious particularly for the price! It is very convenient that you can pay for Cafe items through the app in the parking lot and then go into the club to the Café counter to pick up your order. The last two times I have ordered, the wait time was pretty short for the pizzas to come out fresh from the oven. The brownie sundae was delicious and a great deal! I also use the curbside pick up option and sometimes there is a longer wait than expected, especially on weekends versus weekdays, but I still think that the convenience is worth it!

So I've always been a loyal Costco girly, but my mom's a big fan of Sam's Club, so I decided to give it another shot and see if maybe it could win me over. At first? I was almost sold. The selection wasn't bad, I actually found a few things I don't normally see at Costco, which had me thinking, "Okay, maybe I'll grab a membership and give this a real try." Then I got to the register... I had some heavy items in my cart, so I left them there with the barcodes facing up to make things easier for the cashier. (And honestly, to avoid making her lift them. She was this sweet older lady, and it just felt like the considerate thing to do.) She was doing her job, scanning what she could, and everything seemed fine, until a younger staff member, who was apparently management, walked over and scolded her right in front of me for not lifting the items out of the cart. Let me be very clear: the items may have looked small, but they were heavy, and there was absolutely no reason to put that kind of pressure on her, especially not in the middle of helping a customer. It felt disrespectful, unnecessary, and honestly... embarrassing for them. That moment changed the entire vibe. If this is how Sam's Club treats their employees, especially the ones going above and beyond to be kind and helpful, then I want no part of it! So if you're deciding between Costco or Sam's Club... take it from someone who just gave Sam's a chance: Costco all day. Sam's Club, do better. Your team deserves more respect than that.

I'm a Costco person at heart, but there are some items that Sam's Club has that Costco does not. Sam's Club is definitely not as crowded as Costco, so that helps with saving time. But then again, they don't have most of the items I usually get haha. If you don't have the Sam's Club App, I highly recommend you download it. Their "Scan & Go" is an awesome feature that I didn't know I needed. You don't have to stand in line for check out. You are your own cashier, so if you feel you were over charged by scanning an item more than once, you only have yourself to blame haha. The convenience factor of their "Scan & Go" feature is a huge plus over Costco. I mean, what's really the point of the Costco app aside from showing your digital membership card haha.

Am I the only one who had trouble interpreting this signage? Lol

Attention Weights and Measures: I have a job for you. This has to be the most poorly signed store in Folsom, if not Sacramento county. On the bright side, even though the prices are only loosely correlated to the signage, most of the prices are still pretty fair. Also, all of the produce that I've purchased here so far has been great. If my rating were for quality alone, it would be five stars. If my rating were for service alone, it would be four stars. The cashier didn't make any effort to investigate or fix the incorrect signage, but she did knock a couple of bucks off of the main item in dispute. It was still a dollar more than the sign said, but, what can I say, I wasn't in the mood to argue, and it was still a really good deal. I've only been in three times so far, as I just recently received my membership card last month. When I texted my mom about the pricing issues, she seemed to be very well aware. "I always just take pictures of the signs while I'm shopping and then show them to the cashier when I'm checking out." Okay, I'm pretty sure it's not normal to have to take a picture of every single price tag as you shop. As to the picture of raspberries I posted, the signage is actually correct, but it's still really confusing, in my opinion. It took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure out that the more expensive raspberries on the left were organic, while the cheaper ones on the right, which look nearly identical, were not. Also, organic and non-organic produce are not supposed to be stacked on the same pallet, touching, due to the risk of cross-contamination. This is why most stores keep all of their organic produce in its own section. Maybe I'm a bit biased, cause I used to work at Costco, and we all know that Sam's Club is the knock-off version of Costco, but I feel like this store could (and should) do WAY better on their merchandising and signage.

I felt very uncomfortable and confronted her. She in fact had shown me her phone was on the camera and stormed out once I said ". You are racially profiling me because of the color of my skin"?? Wow racism. Like please let's all grow up! July 11, 2025, at around 5:00 PM at 526 E Bidwell St, Folsom, CA 95630. As soon as I entered the store, an associate named Cindy began taking pictures of me with her phone. I was on FaceTime with a relative, showing them some of the deals in the store. When I confronted Cindy and asked if she was taking photos of me, she accused me of taking photos instead. I showed her my phone and explained I was just on FaceTime. She then turned her screen toward me, which was on the camera app, yet she still denied taking pictures. I made it clear that I did not appreciate this behavior and told her it felt like racial profiling. I was simply shopping like any other customer. Another employee listened and apologized, but the manager David was not in the store to speak with me.

This is a decent Rite Aid location. They are usually well-stocked, the staff is usually friendly,…read moreand I'm usually able to find whatever I come in for. (Pro-tip: Rite Aid has surprisingly good deals on alcoholic beverages.) This store was partially remodeled within the last few years, after a car drove through the side of the building. (Seriously, what is up with the residents of Folsom driving through retail stores? The same thing has happened at Raley's and Starbucks.) Earlier today, I posted pictures of the new garden center inventory. They have lots of cute stuff, and it's almost always on sale. This time of year, the sale is only 25% off, but it'll probably hit 50% off by spring, and 75% off by fall. If there are any bicycle planters left by fall, they might become part of my collection. A few weeks ago, while shopping in this store, I noticed signs on the (fully stocked) ice cream freezers which read, "ICE CREAM NOT FOR SALE." Now, I'm curious. What was going on with the ice cream? Why was it there, but not for sale? If it's not for sale, why not move it to the back freezer? Do they not have a back freezer? If it was spoiled, why wasn't it thrown in the trash? Was it waiting to be donated to the food bank? Was it perfectly good ice cream that just hadn't been scanned in yet? I have so many questions. Anyway, the main reason I shop at this store is for the pharmacy, where I usually receive great service, with a few exceptions. I've actually had to come in three separate times this week, and the first two times were good experiences. The third trip has a backstory: About five months ago, I came in to pick up a three month supply of birth control. The pharmacist told me that I was only getting a two month supply, instead of three, because they were out of stock. He assured me that he would make it up to me next time-- but he never did. This afternoon, when I called to refill my prescription, I was told by the young male pharmacy assistant that I was too early. This is upsetting for a few reasons. First, they still owe me a whole month's supply that they never gave me! That's the last time I'll trust the pharmacist on his word alone, without a note or something. Why wasn't it notated on my file, as promised? Where did my prescription go? Did one of the employees sell it? Is there a Dr. Richard Sharpe situation going on? Second, according to CA law, I should be able to receive a whole year's supply at once. Last year, they were making me come in every single month. After my supply came in late two months in a row, I ended up throwing a fit (you can't just mess with my hormones and expect me not to get moody), and then they started giving me three months at a time. Third, I should be able to skip a week out of every single month, and it's honestly not my pharmacist's business if I do. This is a personal decision that is between me and my doctor. I should be able to pick up my yearly supply up to three months early, theoretically. Fourth, it's important to take birth control on a regular schedule, in order to prevent things like acne and pregnancy. Randomly changing the schedule can mess with your mood, along with a lot of other things that I would rather not mention in a Yelp review. So, to have a young man in his twenties (who I'm guessing has never taken birth control) deny me my medication was upsetting. Luckily, when I called my doctor, she straightened things out, and I was ultimately able to receive the medicine on time. By the time I came in, the young man had been replaced by a young woman, who was much more understanding and helpful. That being said, the reason I docked a star is actually for the nightmarish restrooms, which were somehow missed during the partial remodel. If my rating were for the restrooms alone, it would be a negative five. Of course, I'm only able to speak for the female restroom, but it's always dirty, has multiple broken soap dispensers attached to the walls, and rarely has usable soap. Honestly, I'm not doing it justice. It's so bad. It has that ancient pipe smell. All of the tiles are cracked. And the walls are caked with years of... nevermind. I can't wrap my head around how this was missed during the remodel. Does someone need to drive a car through the restroom, too? I *hope* the pharmacy has their own separate restroom, because if the pharmacists are using a restroom where there is no soap, then that would be a health code violation (and gross). Overall, I'm mostly satisfied with my shopping experiences at this location, and will continue to shop here in the future-- although I really wish they would bulldoze the whole restroom, and start over.
