If you want to shop at a grocery store to be patronized and to receive absolute insolence/disrespect, come here to Montclair Costco! They have the worst employers (Kevin) and worst employees (Andrea). I came here to shop for my ill grandmother's medicine and resources, expecting to only spend 50-60$. After waiting in a excruciatingly long line (40 mins) with my cousins, I was greeted by a senile woman, with a semi-dark complexion. Her name is Andrea -- one of Satan's spawns. As I tried to inform her to separate the first and second purchases (between my cousins and I), she immediately gave me attitude and disregarded my request. I repeated the request a second time, and she continued to ignore me. A third request, still nothing. After yapping, "Can you please separate our items," she finally heard me and stated, "Cannot do that it's not our policy." She then proceeded to combine the items/order and ask me for my membership card -- Mind you, I was purchasing groceries for my ill grandmother, while my cousins shopped for the family. After showing her the membership card and paying close to 200$. She then scornfully stated, "you know I'm letting you use your grandmother's membership card, right?" I then asked for her name so I can inform the manager of her poor customer service and she sarcastically snickered "Andrea." I then went to the manager (Kevin) to submit my negative experience and he merely stated, "sorry that's our policy, there's nothing I can do." After paying 200$ and receiving the worst customer service, my cousins and I left the store with a dissatisfying experience. read more

The tire staff took care of my relatively new tire that was recently damaged. I picked up a huge bolt probably due to the freeway construction affecting nearly every route. American Tire said I needed to replace the tire. I took it to Costco because I had bought a new set of Michelins there 8 months prior. Got four 2-liter coke bottles for $2 that is cheaper then water bottles. Had to have this small poison for cleaning pipes and easy digestion after a binge on meat. Got Aloe Vera Water for less price then the 99 cent store and some water for the EarthQuake preparedness since the area has had 300 quakes in the past week. Also got some vitamin water as a test. If all our vitamins are in good levels we do not need any medicines. I've been coming to this Costco for over 20 years. I've never had a problem. Now being a member it is my responsibility to know their policies. Policy #1... you are allowed 2 transactions per member at your visit. They used to allow more but changed it. To avoid multiple people using your card and to keep the lines moving. If anyone is being rude or hassling you that works there always take it up to management or take it above management. If enough complaints are heard about employees and management someone from corporate will pay them a visit. I have lots of family who work for Costco and one is pretty high in corporate who would pay them a visit or send someone. Costco always strives to have not only great products but customer service. If this isn't happening here and by the looks of it, it isn't then someone will have to talk to this store. Always get names and call. Never accept someone yelling, cussing or being rude to you as a customer. I personally have never had an issue. But I am pretty cheerful and friendly myself always say hello to everyone at the register regress if they say it to me first. Always say thank you have a good day even if they don't. I don't have to wait for someone to say it to me first. The employees will always say hello and you're welcome afterwards. They always ask if I found everything ok. Every time. I go to the pharmacy the most. They are super nice and their prices with and without insurance are cheap. You can use goodrx if you dont have insurance. Also be aware of the limits on sale items. If it says 2... it means 2, not 4 or 6 just because you've been a member for a long time. OH, also everyone has to show their membership card when entering Costco not just select few such as certain races. Everyone does. I've been there 20 plus years and sometimes will go 2 days in a row and they still ask me to show my card. Everyone also has to show their receipt to make sure they didn't possibly charge you double or get overcharged such as sale items. Especially if you have lots of items. If you are not the one using the card or borrow the card or at the register they will not ring up the items. With your Costco card you can only add 1 other person. If you didn't know any of this, now you do. Know the policy and that comes with your card that way you're not surprised when you get to Costco and you can't do whatever you feel like doing. If I could give a ZERO star that's what they would get! Cashier would not allow a separate CASH transaction done by my fiance. So I told cashier to put it together. My fiance handed me his money, she proceeded to tell me she wouldn't allow any exchange in cash by the two of us. Really?!. For paper towels and water. You got to be kidding me! I paid with Debit. Is Costco that well off with membership revenue that they turn away cash?! Ran 5 Sam's clubs in the I.E. for 7yrs, I've never heard such a thing. Horrible member services, that's what it's called. I will no longer return to this location. Place was too crowded. Aisles were jammed pack with people stopping for free demos. Such an unenjoyable shopping experience. I love going to Costco specifically this one in Montclair. I became a member for 7 years. Clean and organize, affordable and good quality bulk of goods which I really considered first when I decided to become a member. The only thing I didn't liked is that recently staff on the entrance door would ask if I have a membership card, I know it's like an S.O.P. but i wonder how come they ask me and others they don't? Like what the heck? Do I look like I can't afford a membership? It never happened to me but recently it have been happening everytime!! I understand if thats their rule or duty to ask, but the thing is why only me? Like we are a group of people entering but I am the only one asked for the membership card??? Like no greetings but asking for my membership?? They would greet others but not me? I don't know if I am wrong but its not fair, I am Asian I dont want this to be because of my race. First of all, I'm a fan of ALL Costco stores, but I am of fan of this store specifically. Are the check out lines long on weekends? YES. Are the lines to get out of the store (where they check your receipt) long? YES. Are the food court lines long? YES. Are the gas lines long? YES. Is it almost impossible to find parking? YES. Ok, now that we've covered all the things that make Costco, Costco...on to the review. This Costco is always well stocked, and my favorites don't always change locations within the store. Knowing how long the lines and wait times can be, I love that I can run in, know where to grab my stuff (snag a few samples) then try and get the heck outta there! I've experienced nothing but top notch customer service at this Costco. I typically go shopping with my wife and child/niece, and, each time, whether male or female cashier, they strike up friendly conversations with the little ones. They always address me by name and thank me for shopping with them. In the store, I've always been able to find an employee who knows how to direct me when I do have a question (for seasonal things I'm looking for and such). PRO TIP: If you have complaints about the people providing samples, don't blame Costco for them. These people work for a separate company than Costco, and are contracted to work there. I LOVE Costco! This particular location isn't the greatest in my opinion. The parking lot is always full. Doesn't matter if you come when the doors are first opening or when they are about to close. It's going to be full. The parking lot here is hell getting into and out. Getting gas here is absolutely the worse thing. I refuse to wait in their long lines. There are times where I'm only passing by and see cars in the street waiting to get into the parking lot for gas. Another downside to this location is their lines. I was hoping they had a few self checkout lines like they do in Vegas but they didn't. It wasn't a big deal until I waited in line. With every register opened, the lines were still about 15-20 minutes and I only had 2 items. The food court here happens to be on the outside right next to the tire station. They don't have many seats but their lines move pretty fast. It gets a bit crowded with all the baskets placed all over the place but if you aren't staying there to eat you can get in and out pretty quick. read more

Let it be known: I am a self-proclaimed Costco whore! This is one place that I could care less about the service; it's all about the stuff. I can wander around the store forever, foraging the free samples for survival. Seriously, they have everything that I can possible want and/or need. I love that I can buy a huge package of salad mix for about $3.50, a pair of Levi's for $23, a HUGE rotisserie chicken that can feed a small country for $5, and a bottle of Kirkland brand Aleve for about $9. Then, I can wander outside to snack on fantastic, cheap pizza and a Coke. Does life get any better? Like others have stated, be warned. It is a mad house on the weekends. PLEASE... if someone is honking at you because you're right in the middle of the lanes, not letting either side pass, waiting for that 'close' parking space... wave because it's probably me (I might be flipping you off too). read more

I give up on Costco. They've been on a down hill trajectory for the last 15 years, and this store is just about the worse of the worse. Gone are the days of discounted goods, and product variety. Water and TP is just as expensive at Costco as it is at the grocery store. There's no way to justify the long lines, crowded parking lots, and fat lazy clerks that seemingly need to call over a manager for every transaction. Even if you're willing to patiently wait your turn in line, there's always some Costco jackass that insists on scanning your card while you wait. They always frame it as a requirement, not a request. Of course we all know they just want to see how much you spend so they can justify selling you their ridiculous $100/yr membership, but they can't even be honest about that. Today this annoying clerk insisted on scanning my card when I was only 2 feet away from a self serve checkout stand which would require that I scan my card before I begun anyway. I asked her why she scanned me, and she said it was to make sure my membership was up to date. Is this what's become of Costco? Does Costco Management tell these soulless fools to lie through their teeth? For what, a few bucks? I bought Skull Candy earbuds a month ago. When I got them home, I realized they had been returned, and were previously in somebody's janky, waxy ear. I bought new tires for my truck, only to find out later the Costco installation monkey torqued them down to about 300 ft/lbs, which can destroy the aluminum wheels and make them impossible to change on the roadside if I got a flat. That's only two of a thousand negative Costco experiences I've had in the last 20 years. This store, and this company is gross. I don't see renewing my membership once it expires, and will probably only use it for fuel for now on. No new news here! Excellent place to stock up on paper goods, cleaning supplies -- everything on the not so fun shopping list. And great place to get items for parties, in home entertaining, pot lucks -- the fun shopping list! If you are not much of a cook or lacking time, they also have quick ready made meals that need minimal prep or you can just skip straight to the food court and grab a pizza which is pretty good for store made pizza. Requires discipline though -- otherwise you will spend an entire month's car payment on one of these living large shopping sprees. read more

I've been a member of Costco for a long. I love the deals and normally, I have a great experience at all Costco stores. This store in Montclair can use a lot of help in the customer service dept. I felt I was bothering them when trying to purchase a $300 desk. All three associates I dealt with walked away from me while talking and didn't use common courtesies such as one moment, walk with me, or wait right here. I don't understand the rudeness. yay costco! the awesomeness of this costco vs others stems from: - outside food court (so even non-costco members can enjoy yummy costco pizza, hot dogs, chicken bakes, etc) - quick gas lines (with people that wait in line for left-filling spots instead of taking advantage of the gas pump extenders, i can just zoom in and out in a jiffy) - right off the 10 fwy exit (so easily accessible) - and they got the usual goods, services, and samples... what's not to love? my only qualm: while the parking lot is pretty large, it's poorly organized and there's only one main exit (that will allow you go to north back towards the freeway) so it gets clogged pretty quickly. read more

Get here early, or face the wrath of the long long long lines, screaming kids, and people trying to have lunch from samples. Costco use to stand for a great deal on bulk everything. But it seems like their business model has changed a bit. They have backed away from a business supply to a large family supply store, and a lot of the deals are not really deals when you really break it down. Sure on the surface you are getting a massive package for a perceived price. But really what is that at a price per pound or ounce. Do the math and you will be surprised at what the savings really are. On the other hand items like toilet paper, paper towels, pet food can be great deals. I know my cat little is twice the quantity for the same price when compared to other box stores. Clothing can be a good deal, but the selection is hit or miss. Liquor and beer tend to be very good deals! I have also priced out costco tires, again this will depend on the type and size of tire to determine if you are getting a good deal. Yes I have had tires put on here, but I have also purchased tires at other places because it was a better deal for the same tire. 2 different vehicles, sizes and styles of tires. Overall I do shop here quite often, but i have noticed my purchase quantities have decreased over the years. read more

Executive members get an executive bending over from this tire center. Those master mechanics "Alex and Jorge" just couldn't remove two lug nuts on one of my wheels stating it was stripped from the previous installer(Costco) so they send me home with only 3 replaced wheels. I just used my factory jack and tire iron to remove the lugs myself. "I guess I'm just stronger than their air ratchets". I brought the wheel back to them to mount the new wheel, showed them my lug nuts were not cross threaded, nor the studs stripped but still had to install it back on my car myself again. When I asked the manager "Jimmie" for some kind of compensation or refund for having to do my own tire removal he stated the same "the service was performed and no refund can be issued". We just felt so uncomfortable that I didn't want to shop anymore. We only bought one and I will be going somewhere else to buy the other ring. Everyone else has already critiqued location, etc. Parking is terrible, I will agree. Hard to get out of the lot. I used to live in this store, just about! In the last 2 years it has not been the same. A new manager was brought in and things changed, from the pharmacy to the snack bar. This man badmouths his own employee who I found to be very kind and helpful. He was the Pharmacy manager and was beloved by many techs that worked for him. The pharmacy ran smoothly until some new techs came in who were very lazy. Errors started happening and they would complain abut Ernie who ran a tight ship. Ernie requested a move and it was granted before they had anyone to fill his position. I had to leave because every script was wrong and the staff was incompetent. The good techs asked for transfers when Ernie did. I am also disappointed with the variety of merchandise at this location. They keep the unsold merchandise every year and bring it out the following season at the same price even though it might be only one size and/or not popular. Some of the other stores mark it down to move it unlike Montclair. We would order pizza there almost every week, until the new manager came in. He changed the quantity of toppings on a pizza reducing them severely. I noticed a drop in the size of the lines right after that. The servers told me they were ordered to make the change. I still go to other Costco's when in their area to eat a slice. Some friends have Yorba Linda and Fullerton picked up a pizza at Montclair not heeding my warning and didn't even want to eat it. They claimed their Costco's were still very good. We go to Dalia's now, but I prefer the old Costco I knew and loved. I rarely go there now. After getting gas early this morning, I realized that your tire shop was open. I needed wheel locks out on so I decided to drive over to see how much they would charge me. When I got there only one person was working and was on the phone. There were 2 cars in the bay and me outside waiting. When I was approached, it was by your service manager Jason. I could tell he was busy but asked if he could help....... With all that was stacked against him... Which included 2 people waiting, 2 cars in the bay and an employee who didn't come to work leaving him short handed, he helped me! He was polite, courteous and never let me see his frustration. I am a store manager and this happens ALL THE TIME. Yet he never lost his cool. Let me tell you Costco and Costco management at this location. Good help is hard to find. And managers like myself are always looking for good people like Jason. Treat them well or managers like myself will try to steal! Secondly, their hold policy is hilarious and dumb. I paid for an item. Then couldn't take it home because I the help I thought I had did not come through. The manager said " other customers are shopping and looking for this item and so we would have to refund you and put it back in stock" This policy only makes sense if I had NOT PAID FOR IT! But I had. Thirdly, I am injured but when I ask the current manager for the box and help to the car he ignored me and only delivered me to the door and waved me goodbye. So useless! I took the box in the cart and pushed it into my car with one frickin arm. You've never been nice COSTCO but this was an all time low. Get better managers! Years ago I used to love wandering the warehouse looking at all the toys I'd like to own. Costco is a mid-ranged quality warehouse; some things are a great price while their fruit is ridiculously high. I just pop in for cat food (which has gone up again! from $13 to 15 to 17.50), arrowhead sports bottles and sometimes movie tickets. The quality of their gas is terrible, their hotdogs aren't as good as Sam's Clubs I'm slowly drifting towards Sam's Club for gas and hotdogs... As for Costco dining, this is one of the better ones. This is placed out doors & is very convenient. It's right off the 10 so anyone can srop by for a quick cheap lunch. I love Costco. And this store is no exception. I love the samples that they offer. I have gone to Costco many times and so far each shopping experience has been very nice. The store is organized and even when it is a little bit more crowded it is still a pleasant experience. I really like the Apple chips that they offer. It's kind of like an alternative to Potato chips, something crunchy, sweet, and healthy. I also really like their sausages. They are for many different kinds of flavors, each one tasting pretty good. One new thing that I have discovered recently is the blood orange soda. It is delicious. I will definitely go back for more. One of the things I love the most about Costco, is discovering new favorite items. It's like an adventure every time I go. read more
