I absolutely love Costco. The variety and ability to buy in bulk is awesome. They have a great store set up and always enough staff to help out if you have a question. In almost 20 years as a Costco member, the Myrtle Beach store (#338) has been the worst set of personal shopping experiences from the Northeast through the Southeast to the Southwest United States. The absentee warehouse general manager has repeatedly not empowered her staff to function to a typical expectation of Costco warehouse customer service standards in other parts of the country. Shopping at this warehouse is typically a true nightmare. It is a far better, more practical, shopping experience to drive to Charleston, Greenville, or Spartanburg. read more

Purchased hearing aids several months ago and very happy with them. Trying to get an appointment with them has been very frustrating. Was told when we're there shopping if I need adjustments or cleanings to "just stop by", that hasn't worked very well. Need an appointment but can't get one that works for my schedule as I have a business that I need to be working at plus I'm 40 minutes away so I just cannot drop everything. As I answered the call the cashier, a tall, middle aged woman with a kerchief in her hair, started acting really exasperated, was rude, and gave me a whole bunch of attitude. I've been shopping here since it opened about 14 years ago. Friendly employees, very fair return policy and clean store. I like this store much better than the Charleston Costco, or heaven forbid, the local Sam's Club. You won't get your car dinged up in the parking lot like you will in the narrow Sam's Club spaces. . . . I was amused that one young man left a poor review last month because the food court and eye glass counter was not a free walk-in for the public. Sounds like he had special treatment in Alaska. When we moved from Cary, NC to Myrtle Beach in 2011 we are so pleased with the staff at Costco and the CDS staff are all of "high quality". They greet you with a smile, and provide a hand out with up to date items that have further discounts. The samples provide us with a taste before buying the product, that gets an A+. Keith in the photo lab is awesome and provides quick service. All of the staff provides us with Professional Excellent Service. Check out is always with ease and a thank you and see you again. This is a top shelf, community and client focused organization and local store! They were one of a few stores who remainedopen heading up to Hurricane Florence that was due to hit Myrtle Beach, SC. They kept their store, gas and propane area open up to the day before the storm hit while all other stores to include Walmart and Sams club were closed a few days before. Costco MB is nice to you if you are white. Thought I was just having bad luck, but I observed how their employees went from being really friendly to the white folks, then hardly talking to minorities who were next in line. Feel free to observe from a distant for yourself by looking at correlations between how friendly the staff and their smiles change based on color of customers' skins. read more
