Love Costco. There were only a few seats at their foodcourt inside, but they had extra seating outside. Perfect for a sunny day! The coke products are good. The refill wasn't on par even tho the first fill was excellent. Onions available upon request for your hot dog.

Size comparison. The plate is for a side salad. "WHERES THE CHICKEN!"

Let me paint you a picture. It's my birthday. I stride into Costco like a man with choices. A man with standards. And there, bathed in the flickering LED light of post-industrial America, lies this... bird. Or rather, what's left of the idea of a bird. This isn't a chicken. This is a large Cornish game hen with body dysmorphia, desperately trying to cosplay as a real meal. It weighed in at a staggering 2.58 lbs, bones and dreams included. Visually? Imagine a sunburned beach tourist who fell asleep on one side. Half-skinned, puckered, glistening in despair. I unbagged it like an archaeologist lifting a cursed relic from a forgotten tomb. The chicken was bathing in juices and was hard to keep together. The label whispered "seasoned rotisserie chicken" in the same tone an email scam says "Dear Esteemed Winner." Let's be clear: I didn't expect artisanal. I didn't need farm-raised, hand-massaged poultry that was breathing just 45 minutes ago. But I did expect something that wouldn't make me feel like I was eating the last protein ration before society collapses. The skin? Gone in patches like it owed someone money. It looked like it had one of those skin conditions that run those advertisements on tv. The legs? Shrunken, tucked in like it was preparing for nuclear winter. The breast meat looked like it had already given up, sagging, pale, full of post-rotisserie regret. And the taste? Somewhere between "vaguely salty" and "you left this in your car for three hours two days ago. Pairing it with Squirt Zero was not a choice. It was a coping mechanism. The bitter citrus notes helped me forget the fowl existential crisis in front of me, and alas, the boldly balanced elixer saved my pallet from long term harm. Unfortunately, I cannot use the patented Triad of Culinary Excellence competencies to score this with the correct accuracy and precision- I am going to have to take this to the streets and ride the pale horse alone. Here's the thing: This isn't just a bad chicken. This is a sign. Of infrastructure crumbling. Of supply chains gasping. Of culinary standards circling the drain with our collective dignity. And here is a sign that they know they did something horrifically wrong a priori. Everyone within a days walk of a Costco knows the chicken is $4.99. They cannot parade enough corporate executives in front of the tv vowing to never abandon the $4.99 chicken.... UNTIL THEY DID! You will note on one of the photos the "price tag" for the chicken.... $4.28. Not $4.99. Not "we all have to take one for the team" price of $5.25 or worse corporate greed blaming inflation numbers that the president said are at an all time low of $5.99 (still quite the deal if the chicken wasn't the teen age version of what normally is served.) $4.28 At a cost of $1.66 per pound. Was this an accident? Let me see. They specifically said they monitor this like a hawk because it's a loss leader and let me tell you folks, I sometimes will pick up 4 birds, I'm all in for $20 plus some government shakedown funding and I have a foundation for four dinners for four to five people. So yes, people come for the chicken. And no, I do not feel guilty about the situation. But let me be clear- this mess started when they went to this ridiculous bag. And now, what was once a proud, potentially artificially augmented plump, juicy chicken breasts shining through that microplastic emitting translucent shell, is a bag of juice and what can only be described as disappointment. Now, before you haters start counter arguing that I should have chosen not to buy the "off price" chicken, and that it was my fault. In this case, my son offered to pick some items up as he was going there for some other items. My son is precise. So when he was asked to pick up a rotisserie chicken....well, that's what he did. And Costco was outright charging by the pound for the shrinking birds. I'm not going to lie, at first I was going to go hard at Costco for shrinkflation but to ALSO start charging by the pound instead of the $4.99? So here is what's going to happen. People go home, find a skinny bird in a bag and they are going to complain. I bet some take them back. And customer service will say "due to inflation and current economic conditions (never better according to potus), we changed the policy to a number that would average cost the chickens around or below $4.99. And next time you go in you will see the most plump and delicious chickens ever. You will grab one thinking "$4.99, thank you Costco!" You get to the checkout and you watch the swipe expecting $4.99 but get $8.72. It's the end of times people. We are within weeks of Costco ever selling a version of this in a bucket labeled "Emergency Kit Chicken", I'll know we've crossed the rubicon people. Final Thought: This bird wasn't roasted. It was forewarned. And we ate it anyway. I don't know that stars are appropriate.

    Food court

This store is very busy but it's okay. I love their foodcourt and all the staffs were very friendly and very helpful. It's holiday around the corner and a lot of their holiday food samples are very good. By far my favorite costco branch.

Trash / recycling bins in every aisle

This is a very typical Costco...big, busy, and utilitarian. Compared to the Costco locations in the PNW, I was very impressed to see trash and recycling bins in each aisle. There's not much else to say, except for maybe the parking lot being huge, and offering MANY spaces.

    Whole pizzas

I stopped by Costco around 4pm to grab 6 pizzas (3 cheese, 3 pepperoni) for a Scout event I had at 5pm. They had all the pizzas ready in just 20 minutes! The pizza is always hot, not greasy, and taste great. And for less than $10 a pizza, you really can't beat it. The employees were super nice and helpful--they even gave us extra plates and napkins, which made things so much easier. The Scouts loved the pizza, and it was the perfect, affordable option for our group! The only downside was they pizzas were not cut all the way through which made it hard to seperate and serve.

There are some amazing staff here but some aren't willing to help. The store is always nice and clean. I found some gems on my trip here today.

Ask the Community - Costco Wholesale

    Does this Costco sell Diesel?

Depends on the location - but yes, many locations do. The one in Roseville does.

    Does thus location sell cheesecake?

    Yes. they have cheesecake.

Do they sell Fresh poke daily? Or is it only sold on specific days?

Fresh poke is sold at certain Costco locations. Not all Costcos sell poke. I suggest you check with your local Costco to see if they sell it.

Does this location sell bags of ice?

    Yes, 20 lbs per bag.

Anyone seen the Tazo Green tea lately in bottles? They used to be back where organic foods are and haven't seen them in 9-months or so. Those were excellent drinks!

If you can't find something that they normally have, check with the people up front. They can look it up for you on the computer and tell you if they have it or it's been discontinued. Costco is famous for discontinuing popular items.

What would you say is the least busy time/day?

I've found that Friday, early evening, between 530 and 7PM to be very quiet, by Costco standards.

Trader Joe's also has unique floral arrangements that you don't normally find at regular grocery stores. Within 24 hours, maybe less, they were opening up and had that beautiful bright yellow they daffodils are known for. I love buying quite a few bunches so that it looks fuller in the vase! Their ads come out Tuesday night on the handy Safeway app. The old school way (cutting coupons from ads) is still availablel. For the discounts, you can use your phone number. That gets you member prices, which saves you money. Without signing up for the Safeway membership, you will pay a substantial amount more. This store is very clean. It's nice to grab yourself a coffee at Starbucks while you shop. All the departments work very hard to maintain an organized space, although there are hiccups here and there. They have great weekly specials. One that I am fond of is their "$5 Friday," where they offer an items/items for a deal. At this store, if they are out of that item that is part of their $5 Friday, you snooze you lose. For example, Safeway was offering the beef short ribs at just $5 a pound in their meat deptartment back in mid January, but they ran out. Normally, if they're out of an item that's on sale, you can request what's called a "rain check" at check out. This "rain check" is good for 30 days after it is given to you. I just found out they do not offer "rain checks" at this store for $5 Friday items, as said by the new night manager on Friday February 6th. Thankfully, it was already provided to me in mid January by an employee that also did not know this was a rule. So they honored it. At this store, "rain checks" are available on other items that are on sale in the ad during the week. Since this Safeway is not close to where I live, two other Safeway's have told me they offer it on all items all the time because they want to keep the customers coming back. Even on the $5 Friday items. So, for the inconvenience of having to go to another store because of this, I did drop my star rating by 2. I like using self checkout. It is easy and quick. The card systems take Apple and Android pay. There is a checker available to help you if you run into any issues. One person watches over about 6-8 self check out stations. Regular check stands are still available, too. I won't stop coming to this store. My client lives around the corner and she has her favorite Safeway items, like that roasted chicken I just picked up for her. She loves drinking Sprite and about every other week, Sprite will go on sale at Safeway's as "buy 2, get 2 free" and every so often, "buy 2 get 3 free." How can you pass up a deal like that?!
