I always pick up a case or two of my "energy drinks" along with my "twice" a month "big" food shopping, at this location for the past three years, each case of 24 have costed me $31.99 a case, today, they only had 1/2 cases (12) for 21.99, that is over $2.00 not inc. Tax, and crv. That's outrageous! The markup on 1/2 case is crazy! The 1/2 case should have been 1/2 the price of a full case! Nope, and $9.00 difference! No more shopping there. Winco gets all of my business now. I realise things are crazy everywhere, but I loved the savings it allowed us on a budget. I specifically made the drive out to Roseville to this Smart and Final (SAF) to buy Farmer John Dodger Stadium hot dogs. But I found out from staff that they do not carry those anymore. They have not for a few years. Oh well. But it was not a lost cause. I came prepared with a cooler so I was ready to shop for bargains. I found them all over... in the produce, fresh meats, snack food, diary, and frozen sections. The produce looked all so fresh and gorgeous at fantastic prices. They even had an organic section. I had to do a double take with the prices because I rarely see prices that low for organic. The fresh packed meats did not look bad at all. Though they no longer carry Dodger dogs, they do carry the line of Hoffy hot dogs. That is a brand not commonly seen at local grocery stores. They even carry their own line of staple items labeled First Street which was significantly priced less than the brand names. I bought the First Street mini bagels and bottled water and taste the same as their brand name counterparts. The shop is located in the Roseville Square Shopping Plaza on Harding Blvd. There is plenty of parking. In particular, they seem to have more than the usual number of handicapped spots. I just called the store to check on an item that was sold out earlier this week. Christina actually went to check for my Bubbies Pickles at the back of the store. Who really does that anymore? I was hoping I would get a person who may know when that category of products were replenished.... but Christina asked if I could hold while she checked. It was still sold out and she went the additional step to find out when a new shipment would be in. Updated me twice while I was holding. That is great customer service that is so rare these days. My adult son shops here regularly. Because he has Aspergers syndrome, he has a meticulous way of doing things that may not make sense to others, but they do to him. Yesterday he went to pick up some items for me, as well as himself. I gave him the money to pay for my items, so he shopped first for me, paid for the items and then circled back to pick up his items. He does this to avoid mixing my money up with his. It's a huge deal with him. Major OCD, but that's Aspergers syndrome. So anyways, he got back in the same line, and the cashier angrily told him he cannot shop twice in the store. She told him he must exit the store and come back in and then get in line. What? Now, my order was in his cart. It was in a shopping bag and the receipt was in the bag as well. So if they were concerned about shoplifting, they could have looked in the bag. Aside from that, there were no signs posted advising people not to shop twice in one visit. And why would there be? It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! What if I pay for my items, and then realize I forgot something? Are you going to scold me for going through the line again? Would you rather I not pay and exit the store? Seriously? Then again, it IS legal in this state to load up your cart and walk out without paying. Lucky for you, my son doesn't shop that way, and neither do I. So don't treat him like he's some sort of criminal. My son is quiet and unassuming. He was very confused by this verbal assault by the clerk. I, on the other hand, am not quiet or unassuming. You people should count your blessings that I wasn't there when this went down. We come there to give you our MONEY for your products. If you don't like the way we shop, we're happy to go elsewhere. Reasonably priced staple needs This Smart & Final is located in the Roseville Square shopping center in the same block as Trader Joe's. I don't come here often only because it is in the other side of town from where I live (some 8 miles) and it's not often convenient for me unless I'm already in the area but some of their weekly sales have tempted me to drop by. We get their newspaper ads in the mail. When I do make it here they are usually for the individually wrapped salmon filets sale and other items I find on sale but lately during the COVID-19 pandemic I found myself shopping here for the necessities and essentials since the usual place I get them have run out. The prices are discounted and many items are well stocked and they have a wide variety of products that I need. It's a good place to buy groceries at reasonable prices, I just wish it was a little closer to me. Convenience is also a factor that I consider when grocery shopping. Let's put it this way if I shopped for ice cream here during the summer it would be all melted by the time I got home. Our summers are usually well in the upper 90's and sometimes reaching triple digits. The store is spacious and clean and items are relatively easy to find. Do not buy from the bulk food bins at this store. I purchased 3 lbs of dry roasted salted pistachios last week from the store on Harding in Roseville. My family has been eating them every day. And I discovered this crawling out of a bowl of nuts today. Pretty gross. I am very freaked out right now. I've called the store and spoke with Terry. She didn't seem super concerned so I called corporate and spoke with Raphael and sent over these pictures. He assured me that they would investigate. I'm telling you, if there are worms in one bin, there are worms in ALL of their bins! This is the last time I'll be buying from the bulk food section at Smar&Final, and possibly everywhere else. Outstanding customer service. We were participating in a very large event and supplying the majority of the food. The store manager took our order and make sure that it arrived in time. As well as most of the other staff in the store. When we got to the store, the staff had everything ready for us and waiting at the checkout counter. I'm an old man in his last years, so I normally don't want to spend my precious time hammering out Yelp reviews, but sometimes things happen that are so blatantly disrespectful of customers that the attention of the public is merited. This is such a case. We recently put in an order to be delivered. One of the items we ordered was a case of 24 bottles of Mexican Coca Cola priced at $23.99, a buck per bottle. The order delivered, however, only provided 23 bottles instead of a case of 24. No big deal, right? But the receipt showed that we were charged at the per-bottle rate of $1.25 per bottle, thus costing us almost five bucks more than the advertised price for a case. Obviously some dullard at S & F didn't think or care about honoring the store's advertised price. The kicker to this story is that after it happened we wrote to the folks at Smart and Final about this rip off -- twice -- and never heard back from S & F management. Nothing. No refund for the overcharge. No apology. Nothing but silence. This kind of blatant disregard of customers would never happen at Walmart. Never at Amazon. McDonalds, AM PM, Costco and CVS: Never. The indifferent clowns who run Smart and Finale should be embarrassed. read more

I love smart and final, they have great prices, they carry a lot of old time products that stores don't carry anymore. The lines are quick and they carry Xlint Tamales that is a very old brand that we grew up eating. These Tamales are hard to find. They carry lots of unique items. I love bringing the new Bentley to the discount store and watching everyone's reaction. Especially when I wear old shorts, holes in my shirt and flip flops! read more

I usually come in later sometimes around 7-8 but its pretty well stocked and clean. Checkout is pretty quick for the most part. Produce and meat department have fresh inventory. Prices are reasonable for the most part with some exclusions but that's every store. These stores don't have a lot of selection like say Walmart or Safeway but its good for staples. read more

I am known at Smart and Final as the ice cream lady! I work for an event planner and I purchase ice cream for my employer. Last night when I was looking at the ice cream Katrice came up to me and started helping me find the flavors I usually buy. Not only was she concerned that I found what I needed, she also remembered the flavors I normally buy and what brands I usually purchase. I really appreciated her help and the attention she has given me to know what I need when I come in. She was pointing to what I needed and I was putting it my cart. I like this store. I was pleasantly surprised. I had never been to a smart and final before they opened. First off the store looks nice. All new, all shiny and clean. The fruit and veggies are fresh good looking and at a great price. What I have tried so far tastes very good. They also carry organic produce. Some of the same packaged products that I buy at Whole Foods are here as well. Kombucha as an example . The difference is that they are less expensive here. I have been here 4 times since they have opened and each time I find something out about them. Give yourself time here , get used to the type of products they carry and where they are located . The service is helpful and friendly and fast . It's a good location with lots of parking and new carts that don't squeak all over the place. Good for me they opened up! read more

Nicely organized and probably one of the easiest grocery stores to find products of any I have visited. Great deals to be had if you focus on the weekly deals. Smart and Final has evolved from a store that catered mostly on a wholesale level to small independent stores to a retail outlet that no longer requires registration or a membership card. You can still find catsup in one gallon containers, potatoes in 50 lb. sacks, and plenty of bulk quantity foods, but the majority of the store focuses on single purchase items for the typical family. Undoubtedly the best variety of paper plates, napkins, and drinking cups of any shop. The fresh fruit and vegetable selection is about as good as you will find anywhere with very competitive pricing. There are a lot of quality products that you won't find in any other store. This location near downtown Roseville is in the same center as Grocery Outlet and Trader Joe's. Hitting all three will give you a great opportunity to meet your grocery shopping needs at the lowest possible prices. Smart and Final is a great addition to the shopping experience at Roseville Square on Harding Blvd. and I hope they do well. read more

Won't ever shop here again. For convenience and the prices my family and I have been going here for years but have recently decided it's not worth the hassle anymore. Especially since the local Walmart just as convenient has better prices even on bulk buys now! I used to think it was funny hearing the nuts who run this store treat the few customers in there like thieves, always fun to look some bitter old broad or idiot kid barely out of diapers in the eye as you happily pay for your stacked basket of groceries which cost more than they make in a month, but after how I saw them harass that poor mother just because she had a stroller forget this place. Also if you're concerned about COVID19 or a clean place in general to buy your food from I wouldn't recommend going here. I'm surprised by general standards they haven't been shut down at this point considering the amount of bugs and expired food I've seen. Smart and Final Extra is located in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and the Grocery Outlet. This makes it a convenient stop when shopping for groceries. Wondering what the difference is between a regular Smart and Final and one with "Extra" in the name? The "Extra" stores are designed to be more like a regular one-stop grocery store. Yes, they still have the bulk items but they also have expanded produce and dairy departments. Some items are even less than Costco. I always get the Pastor Taco kits for an easy mid-week meal. $6.49 for a kit that comes with tortillas, Pastor in sauce and hot sauce. It makes 10 delicious street tacos :) I've also scored great deals on Persimmons  (unfortunately they don't carry them on a regular basis) and even a large patio umbrella and cast iron base. Smart and Final Extra has not worked out as a one-stop grocery store for me, but it's definitely a regular stop when hitting up TJ's and the Grocery Outlet in this shopping center. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE!! Shop here at least twice a week. Store manager Danny is always helpful, so is Bridget! Maggie is super sweet and makes sure we are all taken care of and Dave and Kris in the meat department are the best and the meat is always delicious!! Everybody goes out of their way to make sure the customers happy. I wish I knew every employees name so I could include them in this! The store is always clean too!! We do a lot of special orders from the meat department and we are always happy! Glad to have a store like this around, they take pride in what they do and it shows. :) read more

The weekly sales prices are really the draw in for me to shop here. Generally though, the items that brought me into the store are out and I need to get raincheck for those items. The clerks are really helpful and understanding when I have needed a raincheck, always letting the cashier know to give me one or writing the raincheck themselves. There is a good selection of everything and the prices are pretty comparable to other grocery stores in the area. read more

I picked the only line open today and Angelica was the cashier. Something was whispered to her by another lady and then I was stuck waiting for Angelica to call a manager "Ryan" over. Not 1 word was said to me, informing me that I'd be helped shortly or thanking me for my patience. The elderly man after me was getting really frustrated too. I waited patiently as I watched the line that just opened next to me help others who were in line after me. Not cool, they should've said why don't you jump over while we get this sorted out here. A few moments go by and the same lady that whispered to Angelica came back over and the 2 proceeded to talk shit about Ryan. They rolled their eyes a few times and asked where he was, and then Angelica said, "i figured, it's above his pay grade" they both laughed. The other lady counted Angelica's drawer and then Angelica got back to checking her line out. The only words she ever said to me, was "would you like a bag?" Talk about lovely customer service. I was in early before it gets hot outside. This time of the year I notice others also like to shop early. Beat the heat and maybe people on their way out to the lake. Noticed a few employees walking around. Was never greeted until I was at the register. Christina was very nice and friendly. Through out the time I was there shopping around. I heard her page a number of times for back up cashier help. They seemed quick about that. I guess the dislike is your employees need to notice their customers more often. The store is clean (it's a brand new store). Their restrooms are clean. I like the way they display their items. I found a few things I usually do not see in other markets. They were well stocked. They also have the big items I usually see in the "club" stores. But there is no membership fee. A lot to see take your time and look around. I have been shopping here ever since it opened and live right around the corner. It's very a convenient location for me! Kathy, usually at register 5 has repeatedly accused me of stealing (not in my nature) & has been very rude multiple times. Never greets my family and I, instead starts scanning with little to NO conversation at all. However the middle aged cashier with the really really long blondish hair (I swear she is always working) is so abrasive! bought roman tomatoes they looked so fresh when I got home I asked my wife to make me a salad. when I was eating my salad. something tasted not right. tasted like its chemicals in my salad. I asked my wife to taste it. she confirmed. I went back to smart and final. asked for a manager. and I asked him to taste his tomatoes. which he did. he was like wow. what the hell is this taste. now they are selling them for 1 dollar every 2 lbs. they are trying to get rid of it. they should not be selling it to people. its a very bad tomatos.
