I have been going to Cotati jewelers for over 10 years whenever I needed to fix a piece of jewelry. What kept me coming back initially was the gentleman that worked there his expertise and lovely customer service skills over the past year. He was no longer working and unfortunately replaced by someone who I believe is the owner of the shop. She is rude mean, overpriced, and not good at what she does many of the pieces I've taken to her end up needing repair again and again. The last time I went on my way out the bracelet I had just repaired the clasp broke before I got to my car when I let her know she said she would not fix it unless I paid again. I would not recommend this shop. If you are looking for expertise, efficiency, and basic customer service. This is definitely not the place for you. read more

This a pawn shop without the record keeping so customers should be aware of that! It's probably fine if you need a repair or you don't mind buying jewelry that could have been stolen. And you can get a good deal on vintage jewelry. Again not knowing where it came from. So very disappointing, Previously, I was used to working with the owner's nephew -- who was good at his job, courteous and professional. Unfortunately, I am unable to say the same for the owner. I recently went in for a bracelet repair (not realizing that the nephew had left town). I was given a price for the repair (20% higher than what I'd paid previously for similar repairs). When I remarked on this, the owner countered with "everything has gone up" Returned the next week on Saturday at 11 am (opening time) to pick up the item. The owner was inside the shop -- putting out all of her jewelry items into glass cases. The door was locked. I waved at her - she saw but didn't acknowledge me -- and kept on going about her business without inviting me to enter the store. I watched her do her thing for over 7 minutes -- and decided to come back another time. A week later (Saturday) I returned. Arrived late enough so as not to encounter the same problem. Her barking dog rushed at me as soon as I walked in the door. (No apologies offered). She retrieved my item - reiterated the price -- and added tax to it! Huh? Tax on a repair? (Tax hadn't been mentioned when first price-quoted). I noted my surprise -- to which she replied, "well, wires cost money". To me, the item (one of my favorite bracelets) looked as though the order of the beads had been changed. Makes a big difference to the overall aesthetic appearance! Then, the higher cost and tax. I left feeling very unhappy. It was clear to me that any such feedback would not be welcome. Interestingly, this owner also has a business telephone that does not have an answering capacity. We were able to buy a beautiful engagement ring from Cotati Jewelers. She allowed us to pay in cash and we got a great deal. They put another layer of 18karat white gold on the ring at no cost. We absolutely love the new ring and would definitely do continued business with Cotati Jewelers. They've been there for, what over 20 years.... And it shows. Please do not go here! The owner is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I had a ring made by them and they didn't make it the size we asked for, the prongs were set badly, and the welding marks were not filed and polished out. They don't do refunds and have limited capabilities in fixing mistakes so what they make you is what you're stuck with. read more

We went into this Jewelry store today to see if this woman (I think she was the owner), would be interested in purchasing my loose gemstones and a few rings and she was so RUDE to both of us! And then when I tried to sell her a $500 ring, she low-balled me! She offered me $25! I laughed and told her no way! Then she offered me $95 for a pure gold and diamond ring. I took my beautiful double row of diamonds ring to Cotati Jewelers to have the head mounting removed and replaced with new head and MY stone. OMG, they severely damaged one side of the band that should never have been touched. They did a horrible job trying to repair it, I got a damage report from another jeweler that states everything wrong with the ring and that it cannot ever be repaired to pre-damage condition! We had gone to another jewelers in Rohnert Park and they were dismissive and wanted to charge us a ridiculous price as compared to Cotati Jewelers. I love Patty. My mom and I have used Patty from first week she opened. Literally. Wow. It's been years. Always had great service. Patty is always friendly, takes time to make small with you for a few minutes if she has time. Then a few years ago came along the guy that works there. He may just not like me, and that's fine. Go to Goldrush jewelers. I went to get a broken ring repaired. The guy upfront told me they'd do their best and took the ring. When I came to pick it up, there was the tiniest patching at the break and I could *very* easily fold the two pieces which immediately broke again. I did it right in front of him. I showed him the two pieces, exactly how the ring looked when I brought it in. He shrugged and said they didn't think it was really repairable.... The lady in back hollered the same from the back room. I basically said...why didn't you tell me this up front... and why are you still charging me? He said time & materials. So I paid & left. Rohnert Park used to have a jewelry store. It was a very nice store with a classy look and feel in the DoubleTree Plaza. I liked it very much and the owner/jewelry maker too. Sadly, when he left this world his store closed. For awhile, I thought I'd have to drive to Santa Rosa or Petaluma for new watch batteries, jewelry cleaning, or to buy some custom-made pieces for a loved one. One day, when shopping at Oliver's Market, I remembered that in the tiny town of Cotati just next door, there was a jewelry store---Cotati Jewelers. I've been there a number of times in recent weeks replacing eight different micro-battery devices, including several time pieces. Cotati Jewelers replaced them all quickly while I waited. I also had one of my wrist watches repaired, tuned up, and cleaned there. One of the associates, Stephanie, has been very helpful and knowledgeable. The store has an "old" smell, moldy-like, mildew-like thing going on. Can't quite put my finger on it. I do like a few of their rings though . . . and a couple of their necklaces too. Maybe, when I have a girlfriend again, I'll get her some lovely gifts from Cotati Jewelers. The owner is not that friendly and I haven't seen her smile once. It makes me think she is not happy. Unfortunately, that's not good for business or raising ones spirits when looking to buy a diamond or other "little pieces of heaven" from her establishment. I have gone to Cotati Jewelers for 20 years. I don't buy anything big but go there for repairs, sizing, etc. Patti & Mike are the BEST. They are kind, caring, friendly, and honest. I trust them completely. They both have my vote of appreciation & confidence. What prompted me to write this review at this time is this: On our neighborhood Nextdoor forum....a thread was started on March 15th with this post: "This past Wednesday my lady stopped in at the neighborhood jewelry store next to Oliver's to buy jewelry cleaner. The lady at the store said they were out of it. When she heard that my lady has a sonic jewelry cleaner she said she would give her some sonic cleaner from her own supply. She produced a cup with about 4 oz of cleaner which is mixed 40 to 1 with water. It should last a very long time. We were both impressed with this neighborly gesture and will be returning to patronize the store in the future." This thread is STILL active...with over 41 comments, ALL with stellar reviews and personal anecdotes about people's own experiences in their interactions with Patty & Mike at Cotati Jewelers. P.S. I absolutely refuse to believe anyone who says that they were treated rudely by either Mike or Patty. That is simply not their character. I would give Cotati Jewelers ZERO STARS... I used them for the first time last year and I wrote a review of my experience... after their work and wearing my WEDDING RING for 7 months, the diamonds started to twist inwards and the integrity of the ring structure looked really bad. Since I had such a horrible experience with the people at this store, I selected to travel into SF and see the Jeweler who designed and made my ring over 10 years ago.... I though he could fix it and I would be done with this ordeal... but to my dismay - he told me it was completely destroyed and could NOT be fixed. My only option is to have it completely remade! This is a $12,000 ring!!! and I now have NO WEDDING RING and I have to pay to have my ring remade????? REALLY? so now what do I do with a destroyed Wedding ring I cannot wear...... I sent 5 separate emails through the Cotati Jewelers website. Patty the owner, ignored them. Telling me she never got them... I find that extremely hard t believe that she is not getting any communications from her website's personal email! When I went into Cotati Jewelers and ask them what they will do to resolve this complaint - Patty looked at the ring and then REFUSED to take responsibility for their horrible workmanship, saying - its been over a year!!! Take me to court - my attorney partner will take care of it!!! OMG - Is this the type of Jeweler you want to deal with when their workmanship is CRAP and does not hold up for a Year? DO NOT GO TO THIS JEWELERS!!!! Both myself and my wife were customers of Cotati jewelers for many years. In January I took my watch to Cotati jewelers to get the battery replaced as I was going on a trip. The watch was running when I gave it to them. The owner came out with my watch and told me that it would not start after they replaced the battery and the watch movement would need to be replaced. The cost would be at least $200. When I told them that the watch was running when I gave it to them they just said that those things happen. I took the watch to another jeweler and I was told that the watch was damaged beyond repair when cotati jewelers tried to replace the battery. I was shown a small electric coil in the watch that was damaged during the attempted replacement process. Cotati jewelers bent a battery contact up to replace the battery instead of removing the contact. They were trying to cut corners and now I have to pay the price for their incompetence. I've been going to Cotati Jewelers for years - maybe 25-30. They have always treated me well and taken care of whatever I needed. Case in point: I had a David Yurman cable bracelet with diamond ends slip off and fall into a running garbage disposal. Yurman said too bad, buy a new one. Patty managed to take this twisted mess and turn it back into my favorite piece of jewelry. It took a while and a couple times she said she didn't think she could get it, but she did! Okay.... I went into this place on a referral from a local merchant that I purchased a beautiful, one of a kind amber ring. The ring, much too large for me, needed to be sized. On my first visit in, I was quoted a very reasonable price to size it down, and was told it would be back in one week. I asked if they could size around the artist's signature. I was told they would try, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I received a call the following week that my ring was done. I went in to pick up and was blown away by the sheer lack of courtesy, or anything even remotely resembling customer service. The woman was in the back room on the phone, loudly discussing personal issues, and left me waiting at the counter for 5 minutes. I know she saw me. I know she heard me. She let me wait. When she finally deigned to grace me with her lovely presence, I greeted her. Let me repeat that, I greeted her... She grunted at me in response. Since she wasn't going to ask me how she could help me, I had to spell it out for her. She shuffled off to whatever deep mine shaft she jealously guards her jewels in to fetch me my ring. I tried the ring on, it fits great! But they scratched the stone to shit. I pointed out that my stone was now scratched, and she offered to sell me a $13 jewelry buffing rag, and I was advised that I could buff it out while sitting in front of the TV. I started to look around for Kutcher... Maybe I was being punked. I was to dumb struck to even respond correctly. So I took my ring, paid her for my damaged wares, and left. It really started to bother me, so I called, got the answering machine and hour before they are due to close, and left a message, asking that they please fix it. No return call. It's been 4 days. So I called the merchant I purchased my ring from, told him what had happened, and he's willing to fix my ring. I wouldn't advise ever shopping here. She told me it would be ready in 10 days, I call back in 10 days not ready I call back in three weeks not ready I called back in a week later not ready. Finally the lady called me and said my watch has been there she just didn't notice it, when I picked up the price was $95 plus tax and asked her what the costs were , she couldn't give me a solid answer. When I first came to this Jeweler for a ring appraisal, the (younger) woman was pleasant and expedient. I have not had a chance to compare that offer and am not a jeweler, but it seemed rather low. I was, however, treated in a courteous and friendly manner. That's worth one extra star, perhaps undeservedly. This time (today) I brought in the same ring and two earrings, for an altogether different experience. An older woman, decidedly less pleasant, was behind the counter this time. The appraisal for the ring was almost $100 lower than before. She informed me that gold was down $200 (from when?), but I don't think it's 12% lower like her revised offer. The most annoying part of this wasn't the appraisal, but the manner in which it was handled. As others noted, this person will take your jewelry and walk into the back room without warning. When she returned, I asked if I could use her pen to write the amount on a business card, to which she flatly refused. I was told the offer was 'only good until you walk out that door'. At that point, she turned and walked away to talk to someone else without so much as a thank you. I stood there a moment not even sure if she had finished with me or not. Quite unprofessional. When handling something as potentially delicate -and lucrative- as appraising someone's family heirlooms, a modicum of respect and consideration is called for. I have had two dealings with this shop in the last year and both times I left feeling that their work wasn't up to par. Nice people, yes, and as much as I try to patronize local businesses, I don't think I will visit this shop again. They repaired and refurbished a silver ring for me and did a fair job, but it wasn't ready when they said it would be. When they finally told me it was ready, I came in to pick it up but still had to wait while they finished the job. Another time I purchased a gold ring for a decent price and had it engraved but the work was mediocre and the engraving was shallow. Granted, this was not their work but that of the engraver yet it was their responsibility to see it went to a good engraver. read more

Never again will I frequent this store. I went to Cotati jewelers thinking I would get great customer service as touted by their signs and ads on TV. Think again. I needed my engagement ring sized and I went in towards the end of the day, my first mistake. They advised me to lock the door behind me as I walked in after giving me a scathing look. I, wanting to get this done efficiently, so I walked over, and said I needed my ring sized, at which time the clerk skidded the sizing rings across the counter and advised me to "size myself". Second mistake. It was a a warm, fall day which apparently can make your limbs swell and I couldn't decide between a half or whole size down. I decided to size down a half which after picking my ring up a week later, was definitely not enough. The woman there said to try it out and if it didn't work, bring it back in. Ok, fair enough. By the end of the next day, my ring was driving me nuts, I just couldn't wear it. So, I called and spoke to a young man and explained my predicament, he advised me ever so wisely that "Yeah, you have to pay the $35 again, it's not our fault, we size to what you tell us". This is true, but if I had been given true service(such as the expert sizing me) and information (such as the change in season affecting the fit) I probably would have had a better idea of what size I should be. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with what should have been a simple transaction. My recommendation? Go to Gold Rush jewelers. This place makes me love Cotati. I not only got my ring fixed but learned the whole history of the town. Patty owns the place and we ended up talking with her about Cotati politics foe what seemed like a while. The shop is really cute and brings you back to a time of beige pink along the walls, posh furniture, gramophones, and miniature poddles running around. Their jewelery selection is limited but very classic.They can also order you anything you want. I have resized a few rings and fixed some costume jewelery.
