I am so happy this was recommended to me. If I ever build up enough motivation to write a book on the best burger joints in each state, this place would definitely be a finalist for Arkansas. Considering it's only a VERY short walk from the Capital, the décor inside was politically relevant. Signs, stickers, and shirts were on the walls and, don't worry, it's bipartisan. Ample parking and awesome staff! My server (whom I wish I remember her name) was amazing. She made sure I was well taken care of, and even though they were busy, she never made me feel like she was rushing off somewhere else. As for the food, well, I sort of spilled the beans above. Now, they have a meal that comes in a hubcap (yes, a hubcap), but there was no way I was going to be able to get through a one pound burger with sides. So, it was "only" a regular half pounder with fries. Again, they were busy, but my food was out in no time at all, and obviously fresh (not frozen). The burger was expertly seasoned and moist. Not grease dripping all over the place moist...good burger moist. As good as the burger was, the fries matched. Lightly salted and a nice crispy outside and soft inside. In fact, they were still very hot by the time I got to the end! If you are here, don't skip this place. You will not be sorry. read more

Cotham's is truly a gem in Little Rock! Everything on the menu is outstanding! Great menu selection including salads, sandwiches, daily specials, and amazing desserts like the Mississippi Mud Pie or fried pies. I personally love getting a big ol hubcap burger & an order of corn fritters delivered with Bite Squad (20% off with coupon local20). Cotham's Mercantile has been on my foodie visit list for many years. Unfortunately, by the time I had opportunity to get to it, the original spot had burned down. This was a disappointment but the new place, Cotham's in the City is the old business transferred in tact and is a very worth continuation. It is in an oldish style building reminiscent of the '50's and plastered with busy memorabilia according to prevailing style (which I wish was greatly toned down). My wife and I went there and between us tried the Hubcap Burger, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Onion Rings and Cole Slaw. The place was packed but our order came out fairly quickly and everything was top notch. The burger was the full 16 oz patty and the meat well flavored, the chicken sandwich very good but a little smallish for the price, the fried tomatoes the best I have ever seen and the onion rings the best my wife had ever seen except the crust was a little tough for me, still very good. The Cole slaw, likewise, was very good. The meat was ordered with a little pink inside departing from their usual well done, and our waitress, very attentive and professional, made it happen. The meat came out cooked just right. I didn't see any of the problems mentioned in some of the other reviews. This place is top notch: a little pricey but not out of order for the times. First let me say, they are best known for their burgers and none of us had burgers . If their burgers are 1/2 as good as everything else we had you are in for a treat! Fried catfish was so yummy. So my coworker and I where out conducting business. He asked if I have ever eaten at Cot ham's I answered no, so here we go. I ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich and fries @ 10.99, so I thought well that sounds good. I was wrong. In my mind I had a picture of a decent size crispy piece of chicken, I was a piece of chicken that was thin barley breaded; that looked like it came from a bag and thrown in a fryer. The bun was flat as if the bag had been smashed, very few fries with no seasoning. So I gave it a shot and it struck out. Now the atmosphere was good and the waitress was nice and kept checking on us, considering it was lunchtime and she was very busy. Location, ambiance, and service were great. I ordered the hub cap. Wife ordered the regular cheeseburger. Both with no bun due to low carb diets. My burger had the wrong cheese. Neither burger was very hot. Both were dry. It appeared that most customers were getting the fried chicken (Thursdays) or the catfish. Our guess was that our patties were cooked in advance of the lunch rush and were reheated when ordered. It also appeared they sat awaiting a server to bring them to our table. They cooled off and dried out. As much as I really wanted it to, this place does not live up to its hype nor it's price point. Perhaps we would've had a better experience had we received the burger that Adam Richman was served on "Man vs. Food" at the original location before the insurance got hot there. Famous for their Hubcap hamburgers but I go for the fired chicken. This place is always packed-always busy-so call in your order early if you are picking it up. Cotham's offers a daily specials menu-I love the Thursday fried chicken special and get it when ever I can. (you can order it any day of the week too) The fried chicken is usually 2 large pieces of chicken, 2 sides and either a roll or cornbread. I usually get mashed potatoes with gravy (ask for the brown or you get country white, but I prefer the brown with chicken) the collard greens and a roll. The chicken is succulent, crispy and delicious. Mashed potatoes are real potatoes-not that instant crap, and the collard greens are tasty with ham or ham hock flavoring. I told one of the Chefs that I loved his chicken-he told me the trick was in brining it in cold-salt water over night. For the special you can get the fried chicken meal for $8 and change. Portions are fair enough-(I could eat twice the amount of the collards & mashed tho :) ) Their Lemonade is delicious also. The Hub Cap HB is pretty good also-I have had it once before-big enough to share with someone. Nice staff, always busy but attentive. Usually has my order ready when I walk in-if I call ahead. At the end of the day, whatever comes out on your plate is going to make you think "Well that doesn't look that special..." but whoever is in that kitchen deserves a medal, and probably has cornered the market on butter for all of Arkansas. Took my friend here as a lunch date. I was a little disapointed on how thinly sliced the fried green tomatoes are. It was pretty much friend green chips. The burger was ok, I was expecting a flavorful taste to it, but left in disappointment. Maybe on times they are not busy there is more thought in seasoning. The yeast rolls are great, though! Update: down to one star. Fried chicken was bland and extremely over cooked to the point of that I could not eat it. Fried okra tastes very old. I was so disappointed when Cotham's in Scott burned down before I could enjoy a Hubcap burger. Never fear, the Hubcap at Cotham's in the City was delicious! I love how the burger is a thinner patty, cooked well, with the classic toppings of mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. The burger was big, but not insurmountable. My wife also liked that she could get a plate of sides and enjoy a few bites of my sandwich. Great service. Great sweet tea. Ample parking. FIrst off, this place has limited hours. I can't count how many times I've craved a hubcap burger and went home with an empty stomach because this place is closed after 2pm! The staff are courteous and have never messed up and order the 10+ times I''ve been there. The prices are cheap and the food is delicous! It isn't ever too packed and doesn't take but about 7 minutes to get your order out or less. Always has parking spots avaiable, great location and clean! The hubcap burger is simply a bigger burger, it's not going to be the size of an actuall hubcap lol. It's fresh beef, hand made patty with american cheese. You can determine the size of the burger by adding more than one patty, and let me remind you that each patty is close to a pound! I've managed to eat all my fries, drink my drink dry & devoured a 2 patty hubcap monster! I recommend to atleast try this place out, if it's the weekend dont even bother, it will be closed. Despite the limited lunch hours, my boyfriend and I pop in once every couple of months, usually on Fried Chicken Thursday, when you can get really good fried chicken (a breast and a leg) and macaroni and cheese (which you can't get during the rest of the week...it's a special). On my last visit, a Friday, I decided to try the catfish, as I'd really been craving it and Cotham's does anything fried right. To my very pleasant surprise, I am confident in stating that Cotham's has some of the best catfish in Little Rock. The filets were huge, crispy and flavorful. It was also actually CATFISH, which many restaurants don't honor--they serve some kind of fish, call it catfish and charge catfish prices. Not Cotham's. Served with french fries, hush puppies and corn fritters, I couldn't finish everything but I definitely tried. Their sweet tea is really good. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough. I have never had anything but really great service here. The staff doesn't seem to have much turnover and they seem to care a lot about whether you're being taken care of.
