Carne asada fries (medium)
Tara R.

My go to when I don't know what to eat and want something fast and good. My faves: carne asada street tacos (guac on the side), rolled tacos (beef or chicken), hard shell beef taco, carne asada fries (no beans). I like to add pico to my carne asada fries but for it to be a $1 extra is kinda crazy. I also like their churros but eat them right then and there. Service is great and quick. Plenty of free parking. I usually call ahead to place a to go order. Things I wish they improved: someone continually cleaning and refilling the salsa bar. It gets dirty and empty super fast. Also wish they had a line for pick up orders because sometimes the line is super long and you still have to wait in line with the other people that haven't ordered yet and of course they take forever and don't know what they want once they get up the the cash register. Other than that, I keep coming here. Food is always really good.

3 Rolled Tacos

Love love love this Taqueria. My absolute favorite is their California burritos. It's the best I've ever had out here in San Diego. My friend loves the Carnitas here. It is not too greasy and cooked to perfection. We tried to roll tacos this time which is also super tasty and the guacamole is great. The service is always impeccable and quick. Even though it is a Taqueria, it does have plenty of seating for you to enjoy.

I went to a Christmas concert at the nearby Point Loma Presbyterian Church and and I stopped by for a quick taco with my friend after the concert. I ordered the Carne Asada soft taco with guacamole and it was so huge and it came with a double tortilla so I made actually two tacos out of it, and I managed to eat the whole thing even though it was almost enough for two meals. My friend had the three rolled chicken tacos with guacamole covered with lettuce and tomatoes, and they also have a wonderful salsa bar and I love the cilantro salsa they make. my order was only seven dollars and my friend's was only six dollars and it was so delicious. This is an old Point Loma taco shop that everyone loves so come by and try it. You won't be dismayed. My taco was done in five minutes or less, even though they had a busy crowd, and the place is very clean and tidy. There's a key for the bathroom and it was clean and well stocked.

This is simply my go to for Mexican style burritos when I'm in San Diego, California. I love all of their location, locations and visit all of their locations. Their breakfast burritos with fajita on the inside are so amazing. I gotta give them props. They make their burritos special here. Every single bite is a mouthful of phenomenal flavor. Also, the customer service is really good. Everyone that works here is friendly. They do a good job and getting your food out right away. This is one of those locations that I will always visit when I'm in Southern California. I'm pretty sure I visited every single one of their locations. Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You will be absolutely satisfied and happy with your choice.

Hash Brown Burrito

Cotija's offers a solid lineup of breakfast burritos and other Mexican fare. We had heard a lot about their hash brown breakfast burritos and made sure to try that, and also got a po-keto omelet with bacon (evidently this meant no potatoes). The burrito was pretty good, but not amazing. It's definitely big, but not massive the way some reviews would have you believe. On the inside, there's plenty of tasty fillings, and the hash brown adds a great crispy texture. We tried all of their salsas. They definitely improved the burrito, but I don't really agree with other reviews suggesting the salsas are incredible. The omelet was filled with bacon and was a little too salty, but otherwise flavorful and topped with a few nice slices of avocado. Look, this place is cheap, and the food is undeniably tasty. Plus, there's plenty of seating and parking, which is honestly an underrated convenience. I just didn't feel wowed enough to give it more stars.

This is a cute burrito spot with lots of seating inside and outside. The staff were friendly and the food came out hot & plenty. I ordered a hash brown burrito and it was absolutely delicious! It was huge and definitely worth the price! Will definitely be back.

I've been coming here for years and the flavor has stayed consistently delicious. Always a great meal with great portions for the price. Staff are always friendly and this location is very spacious and a nice place to dine-in. Definitely recommend.

Fish Burrito
Marissa M.

Dropped in here to get some lunch to go with some friends. It took a minute to order, but the food came out relatively quick once we did. I decided to try the fish burrito as it's my favorite type of burrito to order at Mexican joints like this. The fish burrito was great, it had a lot of flavor, and I absolutely loved that they had the salsa bar where you could grab as much salsa as you wanted. The only thing I didn't like was the Horchata. It wasnt creamy, or tasted of cinnamon and didn't taste like a typical Horchata that I've had many times before. Something about it seemed really off. I probably wouldn't purchase again. However, the food was great and I genuinely loved the burrito and my friend said as well. I would definitely come back here!

The food itself was fine, but the red sauce tasted so much like marinara that we didn't end up using any of it.

Tapas style menu, we were a party of 4 and ordered: Squash blossom Relleno - it's the flower part of a squash plant and stuffed with mushroom duxelles which resembles a meat mixture with squash succotash. Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy. Overall, delicious food that came out so quick, great ambiance, we celebrated our birthdays and were each gifted candles with our names on the label. Truly amazing from beginning to end. The food was ok, not much of a selection was available. Loved my brownie ice cream. So delicious. I was in food coma. My favorite was my personalized birthday candle! Definitely recommend this spot!

It's always a great place to stop before or after going to the airport because it's that close. We originally went there for an early dinner, but happened to meet the happy hour time frame (3:30-5:30). They have a wonderful array of drinks and appetizers to choose from. The most expensive being $11.00. Each appetizer is enough for two people. A man at the bar asked me if I wanted some of his guacamole dip because he could finish it all. He looked like that was his dinner meal too. I declined, since I was favoring the ceviche and chicken tinga tostadas. Both tasted delicious. I heard the bacon wrapped jalapeño were good but not gf. So I didn't try them. The views from our table were spectacular. They had many GF options listed on their menu. Our waiter, Jared, (so helpful and attentive), told me which items are more gluten sensitive and which ones were gluten free. The drinks were tasty and refreshing too. Definitely a place I'll be going back to with family and friends

An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration!…read more I took my husband here for his birthday this past Monday, and the entire experience was absolutely incredible from start to finish. First, the location and the views are simply stunning. It set the perfect backdrop for a celebratory evening. But what really elevated the vibe was the music! The playlist was so on point that I literally found myself dancing in my seat to every single song. It created such a fun, lively energy. I also have to give a massive shoutout to our waiter, who was incredibly attentive, warm, and anticipated our every need. The entire staff went above and beyond to make my husband feel so wonderfully celebrated. From a sweet little "Happy Birthday" sign to a surprise dessert at the end of the meal, every detail was thoughtful and perfectly executed. This place is truly incredible. We will absolutely be back!

It was grilled perfectly here! The chunks were big enough so you get the squid flavor. It also comes with a sweet/spicy sauce which was unexpected but really yummy. -Battered Fish Taco: my favorite dish! Huge flaky piece of fish that's fried really well. The chorizo wasn't like Roberto's so there was no grease dripping down my hands. That usually means either too much eggs or better quality meat. I think it was the latter. We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of veggies and liked the ample amount they provided. ---- There's a couple benches outside in front of the shop and seating at booth tables inside as well.
