I was in the area and craving authentic and tasty fish tacos. Yelp suggested Taco Surf PB so off I went. As with ANY spot in PB, parking is a beast! I was thankfully able to find a spot behind the restaurant! There were three spots and I got one. I entered through the rear of the place and the ambiance was no different than entering through the front doors, although it was a bit quieter. The ambiance is everything you want in an authentic taco shop; no frills, comforting, a little cluttered, all the character, local artist items (surfboards), stickers from all over and a straight to the point menu. I was looking for fish tacos and was not disappointed. The menu offered a couple of options. I settled on a Grilled Mahi taco on corn and a Grilled Salmon taco on corn. I also ordered chips and salsa - all to go. I will say I was shocked to find each taco cost over $7!!! This is PB for goodness sakes, what happened to a decently priced fish taco?! For that alone I knocked a star off. The fish was super fresh for both and the portion of fish was decent. For the cost, I was glad to see they weren't street tacos, but full size tacos. The flavor of the fish carried the taco and the lettuce and tomato were simply there to fill it out - which was a good thing. I would definitely recommend Taco Surf. However, for the cost, not sure it will be my go-to fish taco spot when I'm in town. read more

I was excited to try this place for the first time the other day but was a little disappointed. I was craving rolled tacos so I got that and my friend got a shrimp and carne asada taco. The rolled tacos had a nice crunch but the guac on top was kinda flavorless. My friend's tacos were around $7 each but were huge, the toppings kept falling out. The salsas were just ok. Breakfast burrito - 8.5/10 Surf and turf burrito - 8/10 I thought it could've used a little more salt They generously give you bottles of red, green and habanero sauce on request to use as liberally as you'd like. Although I thought this was great, the sauces were pretty average and I think of it were a little spicier and flavorful it would've elevated the burritos and my experience for sure. Haven been here in a decade and o remembered it being so good... my daughter and I were disappointed. The carne asada was tough and flavorless, the quesadillas could have used some moisture. Rolled tacos looked good with a mountain of cheese but they were filled with ground beef, not shredded. It was odd. The guacamole was alright. Seasons would have helped all of it. Beware! We got food poisoning here! Interior atmosphere is what drew us in, lots of surfboards on the ceiling and walls... very cool vibe BUT other than that I do NOT recommend. The service was short witted and unwelcoming- oh well, maybe she had a long day? The food was unfortunately lacked any flavor, I forced myself to finish my meal. Rice was bland, the carne asada tacos were alright but nothing to rave about, and the burrito was improperly wrapped and we ended up having to use a fork to eat it (not a big deal blah blah blah) -BUT!!! The portion sizes of the burritos here are huge! Me and my partner shared 2 fish tacos and the surf & turf burrito and were so full after! The fish tacos were good, nothing super special just your standard fish tacos. The surf & turf burrito was full of meat, the meat to rice ratio was so good I would say it was 85-90% meat and the rest was rice so definitely felt like we got our moneys worth (sorry for no photo of the inside of the burrito). I also got the horchata which was just your standard horchata nothing special. I will say that the salsas here do leave something to be desired, they tasted pretty watered down the green salsa tasted like water with a slightttt hint of pepper then the red one tasted less watered down and had a Smokey flavor but was definitely disappointed by the watered down tasting salsas. Service was good, the place was packed since it was the weekend but we got our food fast since you just order at the counter then they call your number out to go get your order when it's ready. The interior is pretty cool! I liked all the surfboards hanging from the ceiling and along the wall, definitely casual beach vibes that suit this PB location. Interior: The inside seats about 20-25 people? But what's cool is that they dedicate the inside to the history of surfing. I ordered a California burrito to go--paid extra for cheese and sour cream--and ended up with a $18 burrito that was basically just fries and carne asada. Not even tomato, lettuce, the basic stuff, and on top of that It used to come with way more. Honestly, it felt like I paid premium price for half the product. It's not the first not even second time this has happened, but it was the first time I decided to say something. I went in calmly, just to share my feedback. I wasn't rude, I wasn't asking for a refund--just being honest. And the woman behind the counter was incredibly rude from the start. No apology, no understanding. Instead, she snapped, "I'll give you another burrito if you give me the one you ate." I am so sad to write this. I have recommended this place to so many people and come multiple times a month, but will never eat here again after today. I placed 2 orders in one day for the primal bowl, something I have ordered countless times. I have a pretty bad bean allergy and this bowl does not contain beans. The first order I got had beans, so I called them and informed them of the error, let them know what had happened and the woman answering said that she noticed the error when it was being packed and that if I placed another order, it would be correct. So I did that. I got the order and it was the same issue. When I called to tell them of the problem, the woman then went back and forth saying that the primal bowl has beans, before ending saying it does not and it was an error. I most likely wont ever come here again or recommend it. We will see how long I can hold out, but I hope they pay better attention in the future. read more
