"On Golden Pond" indeed, minus whiny Jane Fonda and with more modern amenities! Stayed here for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend, perfect place for a summer trip. Cabins are very cozy and have everything you need. Beach right across the road, can walk over in your bathing suit it's so close. Beach has chairs, floaty devices, canoes/kayaks for rental ($20 or $10, respectively), row boat, and a floating dock. Can easily row yourself over to see the covered bridge nearby. Very close to cute little towns like Holderness, Ashland, and Laconia/Weirs Beach. Awesome little gift shop with free coffee - this isn't a supply store, though that'd be great. They light the fire pit every evening, it's lovely. Overall, you get the best parts of camping (remote, rustic, campfires) without the worst parts/with basic modern amenities (decent enough bed, electricity, plumbing, cooking supplies, wifi, driving access to towns). If you don't like even the best parts of camping and prefer hotels, then stay in a hotel! Only wish we weren't right on the road, which is fairly busy with cars and even trucks coming by. Everything else is perfect. Bet this would be a fun place in the winter too.

This place is amazing! We came for a couple of nights on our vacation and it's wonderful! The place is a little older but it's absolutely perfect for a getaway from our norm in Las Vegas.

These are rustic, individual cabins/cottages. We are here in November, which is cold in NH. The cottage is warm. There is a beautiful stone fireplace. You have wifi and cable TV. There is a kitchen with a full size fridge, microwave, four burner stove/oven. We are in cottage 2 and we have two bedrooms and a large open area which is the living room, dining area and kitchen. It is clean. The staff are super friendly. There is a great gift shop and they have a huge fire in the evening with lots of comfy Adirondack chairs to relax. AND - they are pet friendly. We are here with out two newfoundlands! We will be back when we can enjoy the beach and water access into Squam Lake.

The owner was very nice we even sat around with her and other guests of the fire pit and felt very welcomed.

We immediately vacated the premises out of concern for our safety. The Inn not only refused to refund us but also showed zero sympathy. In clear defiance of public health guidelines, the owner told us we should have stayed in the room and should not have left. The owner said that I needed to "act like an adult," called me "an entitled little horror," and screamed, "This is New Hampshire and not a war zone in Ukraine!" She blamed me for waking them up at 3 am and even accused me of bringing the bat into the room. She was inconsistent, at times saying there was no bat and at other times saying it was just a fruit bat. Bat exposure aside, their costumer service is the opposite of hospitable, with zero regard for our health and safety. Also the room was dirty, with dust balls and no hand soap.

The breakfast was overall good, but I wish there more than one fixed savory option. The host was helpful and friendly. But here is where it goes downhill. First of all, the room was dirty with cobwebs and dead insects in the windows. But the worst part was the room was infested with fleas! My wife went home with welts all over her body and we never went in the woods or anything else that would have caused that. I understand a place wanting to be "pet friendly" but with that means you actively make sure rooms are free of pests. I wish this hadn't had happened as it really left a sour note for our stay.

This is a thoroughly updated establishment in which the details have been sweated out. In the two story great room, there is a healthy selection of good movies, lots of reading materials, games, and many good areas to hang out. Sondra, the proprietor, was a very gracious and generous host and a fabulous cook. It sounds like her menu changes, but for breakfast we had a strawberry, dark and white chocolate cobbler, an egg and ricotta omelet with fresh vegetables, home fries, cinnamon rolls, and bacon. The cobbler was even better than it sounds, the home fries were savory, the omelet was made with fresh eggs from the on-premises hens, and the bacon was crispy and not greasy. Finally, I would be remiss if I neglected to mention the setting. The view of the lake combined with the White Mountain range is so tranquil in the winter. The panoramic picture I posted of the sunset there doesn't do it justice. The way the entire building is situated on the lot and the way the decks open out onto the landscape is just wonderful and unique. One last note - if you like to watch TV, there is a huge menu of available cable channels, and if you use the Internet a lot, the Wifi is very high speed and works outdoors as well. However, your time would be wasted - your head should be pointed at the view and/or the food and not the screen!

The breakfast was fantastic, consisting of french toast that was to die for with asparagus and farm fresh eggs. The bed was equally as good, with a private bathroom and a nice little room warmer in the corner. The inn itself has the absolute best view of the surrounding lakes area that I have ever seen. The inside is beautifully decorated and has books and games galore. Sondra keeps it immaculate and makes you feel welcome, but the best part was her canine companion (Bernie?), a gorgeous male Burnese Mountain Dog who was friendly as could be. I highly recommend this for a weekend getaway and I'll definitely be back. Thanks Sondra!

Jane is a lovely host, and it is apparent she seeks to please her guests by cooking up hearty, tasty breakfasts. This is no measly continental buffet...We were prepared fluffy scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, buttery waffles, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, coffee and orange and cranberry juice. Enough to stuff us and our bottomless pit teenage son, and she gladly accommodated his food allergies. If that wasn't enough, Jane also has coffee/tea available throughout the day, and some cookies/pastries for grab and go. The 3rd floor Shabby Chic space is roomy for families with children with three separate sleeping rooms. As converted attic space, the angled ceilings are a bit low, and the tricky stairs and ceilings make it more suited to young shorter guests (we're all 5'8" or less). Cleaning protocols seem really solid, including bed, bath, and dining spaces. My only criticism is that while the numerous dried and/or fake roses are part of the theme/decor, they inevitably collect a lot of dust - not great for those with allergy sensitivities.

They had our reservation for over eight months and waited until the day before we were to arrive to tell us they had double-booked the room and that we no longer had a reservation!! The Plymouth, New Hampshire area is notoriously difficult to get a room in the August timeframe. That is why we made our reservations in January. Now we are faced with paying $500+ a night for a room (if we can find one in the area) or having to travel an hour or more from a hotel room in another area to attend a wedding in Plymouth on the 20th. If this hotel really cared about its customers, they would have let us know immediately that the room was overbooked.

We had a few good days as it rained for most of our stay but we planned accordingly. There is plenty to do in the area to keep you busy as the resort has daily activities from touring local areas, going to lunch, wine & cheese at the main house (a good way to meet other owners and they also gave away free a week stay for anyone who put their name in the raffle box) The condo came equipped with all utensils/pots/pans/mixing bowls/glasses/dishes/knives/electric hand mixer/bottle opener/scissors/dish liquid/dishwasher detergent/garbage bags/vacuum cleaner/broom/ironing board Items to put on your list to bring: 1. Paper towels, tissues, 2. Laundry soap, fabric softener, bleach 3. Extra garbage bags as you will want to take your trash out everyday (dumpsters are conveniently located near each condo). 4. Duraflame logs - the weather was a little chilly at night (49 degrees) and early morning so make sure to bring at least 2 cases of Duraflame logs. I recommend the original Duraflame (yellow burns for at least 4 1/2 - 5 hours) (gold burns quicker 3-3 1/2 hours). Try to buy this at your local Walmart before coming as their local store in the area sells out quickly 5. Bring your blow dryer - there is not one in the unit. However, you can go to the main house and sign one out at no cost (just remember to bring it back when you check out) 6. DVD movies - there is a DVD player in the living room. However, they have a selection of movies at the main house which you can rent for $3.00 per night 7. No need to bring coffee filters as they supply enough for your stay Don't worry about bringing all your food with you as Hannaford Supermarket is only 5 miles away (10 minutes); NH Wine & Liquor and Super Walmart is also located on the same highway The only downside I found was: 1. I had trouble trying to figure out how to operate the self-storage heating unit 2. The smell of the sitting water from the washer/dryer unit after washing a load of clothes but the smell went away after a while Overall, I found this timeshare resort to be "Very Good"
