Walking in, my most immediate thought was that this was probably the nicest Cotton Patch Cafe I have been to. Country music softly playing, the wood and stone look, just really pleasant overall. My server was good, but really missed several points I would like in my experience for me to rate as excellent or even very good. I never know what someone is going through, so I don't want to be harsh and by no means was she bad. The things I would have liked that just weren't there...1) did not inform me what the special of the day was, 2) did not ask me if I wanted to take advantage of their personal sized appetizer for only $2.99 and 3) she brought my check without asking if I wanted dessert, even though the dessert table tent was literally in my hands. These are the things that can make or break a restaurant's financials, so I was surprised Cotton Patch must not require their waitstaff to do those things. My food was pretty good. Good solid dinner. Had great fresh soft hot rolls to start with. Ordered fried pickles for app. Ranch was good but the fried pickles were heavy battered and minimal pickle. Our dishes were good. Not amazing but good. We had chicken fried steak, chicken friend chicken and the chuck wagon chicken. The chuck wagon was a little dry but not bad. My husband and I just ate there. It was the most disappointing service I've ever experienced any where. I have eaten at cotton patch for 20 yrs and I may never go back. There were only 5 table w customers. We waited for 20 min wo a server coming to our table. Finally I stood up and someone came over, Stephanie, who was off the clock took our drink order but told us she's not our waitress even though we were more than ready to order. I watched person after person walk by wo any acknowledgment. When our food was ready a young man brought it over to our table and almost threw it on the table, never introduced himself, never apologized for not coming over sooner never had any type of personality. He seemed very angry, and we were confused. My drink sat empty the entire time I was there I had to stand up again to get our check and to ask for to go boxes when the waiter finally came over again no apology didn't offer it to go up when he saw that my cup had been empty for a long time didn't offer rolls or anything extra to go with our dinner to make up for the hour and a half. We were there. I cannot explain how strange it was to have that many waitstaff people standing around on their phones and not one of them acknowledging our table usually a manager walks by ask how our dinner was. Must try spot when your in the Dallas area. This is some good home style southern comfort food. I tried the chicken fried steak for the first time in my life and it blew my mind. I got it with the mashed potatoes and gravy with cinnamon apples and scraped my plate clean. My brother Inlaw ordered the beef tips and even his plate was clean. Service was also on point with friendly waitstaff. Restaurant ambience was clean. I would also like to thank manager and staff for a very good experience dining at their restaurant. Was in the Grapevine area running errands and had time to kill before my last appointment at six o'clock. So I decided to run over to Cotton Patch for some good old-fashioned southern cooking. The food did not disappoint, nor did the service as Stephanie was on top of her game. She could tell I was one of those people who needs minimal attention. Stephanie was never a bother and checked on me at just the right amount of times. She provided another glass of water without asking and accomodated a request for a spoon. First time in this Cotton Patch, first time in any Cotton Patch since Covid. Happily surprised! We went at lunch time. They have a great selection of items for $7.99 (from 11am to 1pm). However, we ordered the evening portion Chicken Fried Steak ($14.99). It was a very large portion and came with jalapeño or brown gravy... I got jalapeño gravy and my wife got the other. I got the steamed broccoli and the house salad... the salad was very large, enough for two. Wife got garlic mashed potatoes and fried okra. All came out hot and tasted great! The meals included fresh hot rolls. The service was very good, especially concerning the tables were almost all taken. Our waitress did a great job! They offer beer, wine and mixed drinks. Some interesting appetizers (I.e. chicken fried bacon). The interior was clean and well maintained, however a little darker than I like. Plenty of close parking. We will absolutely be back! Waitress had an attitude (she had one the last time we (unfortunately) got her. Ordered items were acknowledge by wait staff and then forgotten, ordered salads but were not asked what type of salad dressing(she assumed we wanted ranch), ordered tea but no offer of sweetener and were blown off by other wait staff. We were so pleased with the service and excellent food and selection. It was reasonably priced. The most awesome thing that happened to us was observing and meeting the manager on duty, Aaron. He helped make our experience so wonderful. He demonstrated how important we were as a customer making us feel so important and taking the time to make sure we had everything we needed. I retired from Corp management and know how difficult it cam be to find a strong leader that cares so much about the job and customers. My family and I could easily see how Aaron loved what he was doing and how he created an awesome customer atmosphere. He is such an energetic and incredible leader. It was so easy to tell how much his team respected him and displayed what he is trying to do, and that is to give us customers the best experience ever. We had not been to Cotton Patch in a very long time, as our last several experiences (at several locations) were very subpar. But, we were craving some southern goodness and the reviews for this location were generally positive. We didn't get a great vibe upon first walking in, as no one greeted us for a couple of minutes, so we just stood there awkwardly. There wasn't a wait since we came at an off time, but several servers and the manager all saw us and didn't say anything for a bit. Once we were seated, though, the experience was very positive. Our waitress was a doll, and took great care of us. We ordered the lemon salmon with blackeyed peas and mashed potatoes and the chicken alfredo with green beans and corn. The rolls that were brought to us were hot and fresh and were refilled upon request. The food was very, very good and my salmon was especially well done. The fish was perfectly cooked, with flaky, pink meat all the way through and a great sear on the outside. I did find one pin bone, so that's a bummer. Definitely a choking hazard but thankfully I always chew my fish slowly and thoroughly to check for bones. My husband really enjoyed his pasta, and the chicken on it was tender and moist. The corn could use some sort of seasoning, but the green beans, blackeyed peas, and mashed potatoes were all outstanding. Food at this location is a bit of a mixed bag. When you order, you never know how the quality, temperature and presentation will be. We were informed by one server that he could bring 2 Splenda packets for our tea. he said it was his manager's instruction. What prompted my current review is the inability to order a small protein, read that as a chicken portion that is normally added to a salad. The only way to order this is with a big salad. Due to dietary restrictions, we don't normally order full sized portions of protein. My wife wanted a small portion of protein and a plain baked potato. We were informed that was not possible. Upon looking at Cotton Patch's corporate web site, I see that Colby Baird has advanced to Director of Cafe Excellence. My wife and I had the pleasure of dining with Colby for years.when he was the GM at Cotton Patch on the Denton Highway. His advancement is indicative of his great management skills. He manages staff and customers with consideration and respect. I do not recall there ever being any issue about getting anything from the menu without silly rules dictated by a GM. Understanding that the type of food is really for dining in and not take out, the food was still good. Ordered blackened tilapia which came with 2 huge slices of fish and they were very good on top of rice which was outstanding. I chose a side of the broccoli and rice and it was flavorful, maybe a little salty. My other side was squash, it was good but cut into huge chunks, my preference for what it's worth is not as big. This place has had a major turnaround. During the Christmas holidays, I stayed with my sister and we ended up eating here three out of the six days I was in town. Apparently, my sister said that the service and food used to not be very good but now it is excellent. The restaurant is super clean, the service is quick, and everything we got tasted delicious and fresh. I tried to eat healthy, which is difficult sometimes, but their menu makes it easy. I got the grilled chicken with the chipotle sauce, a baked, sweet potato, and broccoli. It didn't feel like I was sacrificing flavor at all. But the nice thing about this restaurant is they also have traditional Texas favorites like chicken fried steak so everyone can be happy. read more

Thanksgiving came early for me! Really wanted something delicious that wasn't chicken fried chicken( which is also amazing here!) Had the roasted turkey meal with okra and mashed potato's and man that was amazing! Our server Jayden was very busy taking care of everyone in his areas and just had great energy overall! The casual ambiance was better today because the music was at a reasonable sound level, a big improvement over prior visits.
