I walked in this place after a full 8 hours in the gym for fitness instructor training, so you know I was starving. I was seated right away (even on a Saturday night -- wasn't too packed) and when I couldn't decide between a booth or table, the employee said "warm or cold?" I loved that because I get cold easily and I sat in a warmer spot. A waitress made it to my table within minutes and I was already ready to order (I told y'all -- starving). She brought back water and rolls almost immediately and a great caesar salad shortly after. I ordered the blackened tilapia and grilled shrimp over rice with crawfish sauce (can't remember the official name of the dish) with sweet potato fries ($1 extra). I thought everything was fairly priced and my entire meal ended up being about $15. It was a lot of food! Delicious fries, well seasoned fish, good sauce. My before and after pictures say it all... On our latest trip to Nacogdoches we decided to give this place another try. Why not, convenient location. We were seated promptly & our beverage order taken. Looking at the menu I noticed lunch specials (smaller portions) & noticed chicken fried steak. Why not!?! We were heading for the country, might as well have a rib stickin' meal. Since my last experience wasn't so great & the food salty I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I surprised! This is one mighty fine CFS. H barely kept his fork to himself, he was diving across the table for another bite. So yeah, CPC you deserve this update & additional stars. read more

I have been to this Resturant since it opened. Whatever has happened the last few years has not been a good thing. Downhill slide. We just sat down for lunch, waited patiently, had four wait persons pass us. Watched someone who sat downlater get served, no one ever looked at us, we walked out. I will not be back. Had a nice dinner at this location yesterday evening. This was my first time eating at this establishment. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It was done well. The mashed potatoes and fried okra were also very nice. The banana pudding for dessert was nice but the portion was very small. My wife and I were lucky enough to stumble into the Cotton Patch Cafe Today....what a lucky break for us!!!! I had the grilled Tilapia with Shrimp with crawfish.....over rice.....it was like the best EVER!!! and was recommended by our server Brad...who did a fantastic job. My wife, Nancy, enjoyed the pork chops with apples....she enjoyed them greatly.......BTW...I got the appetizer ....Fried Green Tomatoes....and All I can can say is Wow! I love Cotton Patch! I actually used to work here when I was in high school as a hostess and cashier. Now, every time I come to Lufkin, it's one of my must eat locations. They have my favorite Chicken Fried Steak in town ! Plus, they have pretty awesome baked potatoes! They also have delicious fresh bread and corn bread. But, the icing on the cake, are their delicious cobblers! My favorite is Peach, and I'm really hoping they serve it the day I'm going! read more

Went the other day (visiting from 2 hrs away) during a day trip. The restaurant had very little business and we had the advertised specials. We immediately noticed that we received no bread with our meal when we usually did before. Furthermore, our server mainly stood around talking with the other servers and getting drink refills was difficult. We asked for our dessert in the restaurant (too far to take home in the hot car) and the server boxed it up. When my mom mentioned that she felt they were trying to rush us out the door, the server laughed at her. Corporate office was made aware of the problems and were very helpful. Very impressed with the hospitality and food quality! First time visit to Lufkin & this restaurant. Waitress Dena and GM Justin made us feel valued with a special welcome. Fried pickles were perfect. My chicken fried steak with delicious mashed potatoes, creamy white gravy and sweet apples exceeded my expectations. My workmate got a fish dish that she also loved - but I was too enthralled with mine to really notice hers! We travel through Lufkin 2 times a year and so look forward to stopping and dining at this restaurant. Tonight was the last time we will be dining here. We both we greeted by a very nice young waitress and she promptly brought us our drink order. We asked about the Monday night special and she explained them to us. We both ended up ordering the chicken fried chicken special. Our waitress brought us each a cold dinner roll that used to be piping hot and delicious. Not any more. My husband ordered garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli cheese casserole as his sides. I ordered broccoli cheese casserole and fried okra. Both chicken fried chickens were fresh and delicious. His mashed potatoes were barely luke warm as was my okra ???? Our broccoli cheese casserole was barely Luke warm and had tiny little specks of broccoli and was gloopy like wallpaper paste. We spoke to the waitress and she was very nice and took my casserole back and in about 5 or so minutes came back with more, but was just as bad but hot and still no broccoli. She said she ask the manager to come to our table but he never did. When we got ready to pay our bill she said she ask the kitchen manager to reduce our bill, but she said he would only take off $5.00. We told her we didn't expect them to reduce the bill. While at the cash register the kitchen manager did appear and was obnoxious. I tried to explain the problems and he kept saying. "Really". He did say after giving us the broccoli casseroles he threw the rest out! We will never go back to this cotton patch !! We don't know who owns this establishment , but your kitchen manager can't cook and has no people skills. I pity your decision as he is a real jerk ! read more

WARNING!!! My husband, myself, our daughter, her husband and their one year old ate at this location, Lufkin Texas, this past Sunday, 7-21-2019. Within 30 minutes to 24 hrs. all of us were suffering from food poisoning. I did report my suspicion about this to the health department and it was confirmed. I'm writing because of concern for all of the elderly that also ate there that day. I am over 60 yrs. and this hit me hard. I cant imagine how hard this may be on others. Please be aware. We stopped by here last night for a quick meal. I guess the staff was doing some training or meeting this night as there were a bunch of people in the building. The results show, they looked happy and the ones I did interact with were very friendly. To top it off, the chicken fried steak was great. This has been one of my favorite places to eat. We eat out 2-3 times a wk. my husband and I went there yesterday about 5:30 there were only 6 tables taken when we got there and a lot of staff standing around. As we sat waiting to be waited on they kept looking at us but not coming over. We were there about 10 minutes and still no one waited on us. As we were leaving a waitress said have a good night and come back. I responded not hardly we were never waited. She turned to the other staff and asked if that were true I never looked back. I have eaten here many nights because the Best Western Plus hotel I stay at is directly to the rear of the restaurant. and every dinner I have ever had was great tasting, good looking presentation and great service. Yesterday I ate a late lunch and it was the same great service, great food at a good price. I was impressed at the service because I had a job digging up a gas leak in the sun for 3 hours by hand and had to skip lunch till done... well 98 deg heat thirsty then hit cotton patch, I drank 5 cups of tea before ordering and the glass NEVER sat empty. I make this restaurant MY stop when traveling through Lufkin. I have eaten many things off the menu and the specials but I tell you the strawberry pecan chicken salad is the bomb. read more

On a last minute girls only vacation, a neighbor recommended to eat here and OMG, I'm so glad we did! The service is friendly, professional and promptly serves the best home cooked comfort food around town. I had the lunch portion chicken fried steak, garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli that were perfectly cooked. My friend had the chicken dumplings, fried okra and garlic mashed potatoes which I know she loved because she finished her lunch before me! The homemade yeast rolls were mouth watering and to die for delicious with more butter, LOL! However, the real treat was the day we were there, Cotton Patch was celebrating their 25 Year Anniversary!!! The complimentary dessert was their own DP warm chocolate cake! I can't believe I've had a lake house only 40 minutes away for 16 years and its the 2nd time in 14 years I've visited Lufkin and was greatly amazed with Cotton Patch's quality of food, perfect plate portions, along with friendly service and professionalism. Stayed at the hotel right behind Cotton Patch. There's another restaurant (seafood) right next door. I sat in the parking lot and read a couple of Yelp reviews for Cotton Patch...I went in because of the review on the blackened tilapia/shrimp covered with crawfish sauce over a bed of rice. I took the reviewers advice and it was amazing! So glad I stopped in. Came with a small dinner salad which was a good size, actually, and I had a side of steamed broccoli, Also yummy!
