I'm disappointed in their service department. I purchased my 4-runner out of state but bring it the 45 min to Heath for my regular maintenance and any of my service needs. Well that is I did. The first issue I had was when my driver side door handle quit working. We took it for repairs. That very day I couldn't get my car door opened from the outside. We called the shop, and the man said something to my husband (as he laughed) oh I know what he did, then proceeded to tell my husband something about the rod and the latch and putting it on backwards. Laughing? I'm sorry I don't find the humor in it when I'm now inconvenienced by having to make another 1 1/2 round trip to Heath (we do not have a local Toyota dealer), and to top it off this was when the gas prices were sky high! But believe me, if they give you a loaner, they expect you to replace the gas you used. What about the gas you made me use with your incompetence with a simple door latch repair? I was irritated but continued to use them. Today I picked up my car after a routine maintenance tube up, along with having the transmission, coolant, and brake fluids, along with replacing the compressor for my air conditioning. This was a $1,900 job. Your Facebook page advertises a free car wash (sometimes they wash my car and sometimes they don't when it's in for routine maintenance), yet for $1,900 you couldn't even wash it! On the way home my husband and I were discussing it and we decided we are done! The car wash may seem minor, but the more we thought about it the more it comes down to being careless for us. The technician was careless when he repaired my latch, and if they should be washing the cars after a service and it's forgotten, that's being careless. Next time, they just might be careless with something that could cause more damage or even an accident when they are doing a repair. My car cost too much for them to be careless and I deserve better customer service. We have friends that use another Toyota dealership and that dealership washes and vacuums their vehicles if they go in for a simple oil change. I'm sure they would be happy to wash mine for $1,900, and I bet they could install the rod for a door latch. Next year we will be replacing my husbands Tundra and the following year my 4-runner, with Toyotas. They will not come from Coughlin. Looks like those couple careless mistakes, careless technicians, inconsiderate to the inconveniences you cause your customers, just cost you what would have been life long Toyota vehicle customers. I would drive out of state again to find my Toyota before this dealership would make a dime off of me. They clearly do not care about their customers and must not take pride in what they do! But don't worry, when I picked up my car, I made sure your loaner was on full! read more

The ac/heater was fixed here but they didn't do the job right and cost me a mode button that made the ac/heater work incorrectly. Don't bring your vehicle here for a full on service because I was not satisfied with their care. I brought my vehicle to this location believing they had great reviews but I was misled by the work they've done. read more

We brought our minivan in to get a new water pump and belt... they wanted a ridiculous amount to do it, charged us $65 to just look under the hood, didn't even hook it up to the computer or anything. Then repeatedly sent emails asking for my feedback on our experience. So I sent it, and they never responded. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. read more

I was looking for a new car and at this time most dealerships are pricing several thousand above MSRP. They had a vehicle that met all my needs, priced at msrp and not above. The trade in process was seamless and the financing was streamlined. The whole process took less than 2 hours from getting out of my old car to look and getting into my new car. Ronald was very friendly, professional and also personable. He did a great job and answered all of my questions. Finance was great too. Crooks! Avoid this place like the Plague. Went in for a Price Check on Valve Gasket Replacement and Tune Up and specifically asked them not to give me a Diagnostics exam and they did it anyway and charged me $160.88 I felt obligated to pay which I shouldn't have. I called twice and left two messages w/ Terry Workman Mgr and they never Returned my call. Not blaming the Receptionist but Mitch in Parts is to blame as well. Stay clear of this place. Another review, took my new rav4 in for a window seal that was damaged before I bought it. I had a 145 appointment and left at 158 with a complete replacement seal installed. I did not purchase here, but have had my car in for service on a couple of different occasions. Although The work was completed as promised the overall experience of sitting in their service area was pretty dismal. The service area consisted of a coffee pot, and a couple of vending machines. I have been spoiled by John Hinderer's service area where the moment you arrive there is someone there to greet you and offer you one of many ammenities to make your wait in the service area a little more comfortable. Was not at all impressed by the customer service experience. read more

I contacted them through email (2x) and dropped by after work yesterday to see a car. I was told the car was on a rack and I would be contacted when it was ready. Today I call to find out it was sold shortly after coming off the rack. Their team failed to communicate with me yesterday and today. The manager called when I expressed my distaste for their business practices. He informed me the car was bought as is and he will not "hold" any vehicles. 1st come 1st served. I explained my frustration with their sales practices. I could have been the person to purchase yesterday but was unable to see the car since it was still on the rack and their service team went home. I work in a position with flexible hours and travel time to the dealership is ~5 minutes. I could have been on site quickly to work a deal on the car. You don't make promises you can't/won't keep. You don't sell out from other people. Lastly you communicate and do business in a fair and honest manner. Apologies have no tangible value; especially when your view is "1st with the cash gets the car". A gently used car in good condition doesn't come up for sale all that often. Coughlin Collision had our vehicle, a Subaru Legacy for over a month, it was taken there at the recommendation of Allstate Insurance. When we finally picked it up, it had been nicely washed and manager Duane Grohoske assured us the vehicle was exhibiting no symptoms but when driven away all the lights on the dash came back on and the vehicle still will not take fuel (evap cannister has water, they were advised of this in advance). We were charged nearly $447 dollars as Coughlin had the car towed to and from a Subaru dealer. Duane blamed the month long delay on Allstate but the Allstate rep stated they have permission to do whatever it takes to get the vehicle repaired. When I called Duane within minutes of picking up the vehicle and reporting the car was doing the exact same thing, he pledged his support to make things right. 4 days after the pledge I left Duane a message, he did leave a message back referring me to the Subaru dealer. So much for seeing this through. So I paid Coughlin $447 dollars for a car wash that took over a month and have received absolutely no follow up support. Not impressed. Called about a car we saw online to make sure it's still available, it was. We drove from Mt Vernon Ohio , got there, we want the car but are now informed car had no keys. There was some kind of break-in and the keys are on order. Should have walked then. This was the car we had been looking for so we bought it. They were nice enough to deliver when keys came in. There was only one key. We called to inquire about the spare, and they mailed it. It wasn't activated or paired to the car. Made appointment come back and have key activated. Informed after the fact that it would cost $52 for activation. The car is a 2015 Prius plugin. It was on the show room floor. My take on the conversation about new keys implied two sets. Am now informed that used cars only usually come with one set. My bad for getting into this. But we felt a little let down in the Toyota experience. We are Toyota people so we will still buy Toyota , just don't feel like Coughlin will be the only place we will be shopping. read more

As a package, I'd have to say pass on this dealership. The sales staff was great of course but the service department has let my family down every chance they've been given. They promise a ride back to work if you drop a vehicle, only to find out you have to wait for an hour or more for the ride to show up. They promise loaner cars, only to find out they have none available. Rude service staff both on the phone and in person. You can count on Coughlin Toyota to sell you a car and push the extra warranties, but when it's time to maintain the car and/or take advantage of the warranties you've purchased, they are quick to change their tune. read more

I purchased a Toyota Tacoma that would beep every time the lock or unlock buttons on the key fob were activated. According to the owner's manual, the owner cannot turn this feature off by his/herself, but you can take the vehicle to the dealer to have it turned off. I made an appointment with Coughlin to have the beep turned off, and was amazed when the service department rep told me the technicians could not turn off the beep. When I told her the owner's manual states the dealer can turn it off, she told me that I was wrong and that they had even "called Toyota" and verified it was not possible to turn off the beep. On my Coughlin service department invoice, it states "No availability to change" next to that item. This simply did not make sense to me, so I researched it on Tacoma message boards and found simple instructions how to turn off the beep by myself! Hey, Coughlin, since you say it's impossible to turn off the beep, here's how you do it: Step one: Open the driver's door and insert the key into the ignition Step two: Remove the key from the ignition and, within 5 seconds, reinsert the key back into the ignition and switch to the on position Step three: After 10 seconds, the system enters the answer-back mode Step four: Within 10 seconds of the answer-back beep the switching mode is started, press the remote twice and the system will turn off/on based upon which the system is set Since Coughlin couldn't complete this simple task and even told me they "called Toyota" for instructions, I will have a hard time trusting them in the future. read more

Tried to call service dept. April 12th 2019 @ 1:00ish to ask someone a service question. After speaking with the rude "Customer Service" women who hung up on me and was "unable" to get me to the service dept. or a manager, I decided not to do business there. I'm in my fifties and I do remember a time when customers really mattered. We are nothing more than dollar signs to business' now days. What a SHAME! My husband and I researched many SUVs before buying, primarily focusing on the Highlander, Honda Pilot and VW Atlas. Using the car-buying Service through USAA, we put out a request to all the Columbus-area dealers seeking quotes on these models. We visited Coughlin Toyota first after hearing from James Matheny that he had the exact Highlander I was interested in. James contacted me in the morning and was helpful, polite and not overbearing, as well as quick to respond to my questions. He was able to set up an evening appointment so that I could drop by the dealership after work, with the Highlander outside and waiting for me to immediately test drive upon arrival. James was exceedingly knowledgeable about the car and patiently answered my many questions. My husband arrived at the dealership after picking up our kids and the staff were happy to help our kids find a spot to play, making everyone feel comfortable and not rushed. Because we live in New Albany and work in Newark, I had every intention of test driving the other models at Columbus-area dealerships, but James went above and beyond to ensure that the process of buying the car and having it serviced in the future at Coughlin would be as easy and stress-free as possible; I just purchased the Highlander that night and have zero regrets about not testing out the other models. His customer service was impeccable and truly was the ultimate reason we purchased from Coughlin. They gave us a fair price for our trade-in and we ended up financing through them as they had an extremely competitive rate that rivaled USAA's. My husband currently drives a Hyundai but fully anticipates calling James when he is ready for a new vehicle and I will be telling all my friends of our wonderful low-pressure experience. read more

Just spent the last 20 minutes walking the Coghlan lots wanted to test drive a Hyundai and a Toyota dealerships are beside each other and not one person approached us from either dealership.and just for the record there was no one else on the lot it wasn't like they were busy. Chose this toyota dealers service dept due to proximity to have warranty work done and have been none too impressed with how they have handled it. The service provided by multiple personnel over almost a years time has been bland at best with several being short with me and borderline rude without provocation. Yes! Almost a year to get in replacement part after ordered with no follow up and with even losing record at one point on my inquiry of my case at all. I basically wrote it off after inqiring about part 4 months later and guy gave me the third degree about this being "how it is"as if I should have known it could take several months for part to come in. Really?! Who would ever think that?...especially with no mention of such a outlandish timeframe at initial visit. Anyway, this started in fall of 2015 and someone out of blue calls me in late July 2016 and message says your part is in. I'm considering just ignoring at this point with the hassle its been to date but I decide I should just get it done in case decide to sell or trade. I scheduled and ask about loaner that at initial visit was told is not normally given on this type of warranty work but we would take care of you since I explained was a necessity for me and more so with estimated time being from 4 hrs to all day. So asked about loaner again at scheduling and was a flat out no??...asked again at drop off and guy didn't even consider it...as a matter of fact this particular guy at drop off was lacking any care for my inquiries about anything but especially loaner and seemed to prefer to stare at computer and ignore the request however he did ask me if I had a ride and I said no and that was it. Not sure why he asked. I found a ride from a nice man that got me most of the way to where I needed to be. Ofcourse no offer to pick me up when vehicle ready but kinda expected that. Anyway, a loaner offer on dealers part here would have gone a such a very long way. I may have put 20 miles on it at most and would have felt a whole lot better about situation and may have even considered this dealer for my next toyota purchase. I've owned at least 10 toyotas to date and wife owns toyota made lexus which is 8 years old now however evertime I take it in for as little as an oil change her dealer, not only gives you a loaner without asking, they do it after they offer you a coffee and donut and do it with a kind and considerate friendly attitude. That my friends goes a long way. I know where I will most likely be buying our next vehicle and it's safe to say it won't be from Coughlin. read more
