I paid $900 for a belt, roller and alternator. Okay cool. A week later my car battery light comes on. I replace the battery cuz how could it be the alternator when these lovely people just changed it. Didn't Fix it. Okay let's have the alternator tested I guess. It's fried. They put in an untested broken alternator. Okay fine I'll bring it back up. Brought it back to this shop, they tested it. It's the alternator. That's ask the guy says to my wife "yeah it's the alternator" then nothing for a minute. My wife asks "can you replace it?" Guy says "uh yeah we can" again quiet for a minute. My wife says "like for free?" Again just "sure" Sure. 3 days of Ubers to and from work adding up to about $300. No apologies. Nothing extra to save face. Nothing. Okay. Again. Says it will be ready in 4 days. 4 days later here I am picking it up. Yay! I rush over after work. My wife called ahead to make sure I could pick it up. The guy says he's going to leave the key In The van. She asks him to not do that, she's concerned about her car getting stolen. Fair. He said "oh don't worry I'll go ahead and keep it in the office!" I show up a few minutes before they close. The door is already locked. Okay I knock. I get greeted by a man saying "hello?" "Hi! I'm here to pick up the van out front!" He looks at me and grunts "the keys are on the floor inside" then closes the door. Nice. Real nice. Will not be coming back. Do not recommend. I'll take my business to someone who will do the job right and IF they make a mistake, will own up to that shit and apologize. Thanks. I am very disappointed in this place. I came here twice before in the last month and have probably spent almost a grand ( which might not seem like a lot to some, but it is to me!). A few days before I moved to Madison Wisconsin I had my brakes done. Just the rotors, because the pads were fine, according to them. The next day, the right rear starts making noise, like metal clanking. I chalked it up to the metal chair I had in the trunk. Nope, it was my dust shield on the car. It had come loose or fallen off. So I called the shop and gave them two options: either I get it fixed in Madison and send them a bill, or I come down to Elburn and get gas money. I live two hours away. So I drove down here today, and I get told that the dust shield is rusted through and fell off. I said, well, no one said a word the last time I was here. The man behind the counter told me that I didn't even need the dust shield. Huh?? I'm sorry. Yes I do. So I told them it's still not braking well, and it's going to brake worse without the shield. He said "well my guys say it's fine." I told him well I just drove here and have been driving it for the last two weeks now and I'm telling you it's NOT FINE. You know what this jerk said?? "Well, what do you want me to do? Give you all new brakes??" The freaking attitude was what got me. I am one of the nicest people in the world until you piss me off, and believe me, I'm pissed off. They are currently sanding the pads, to see if that will help. I'm going to drive it around, to see if that helps. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone, especially a single young female. Brought them my 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer to have the exhaust repaired. Told the service writer I need the car to be dependable and asked to have it thoroughly inspected for anything showing wear that may give me trouble or will need to be replaced soon. They called me with a list. The car needed new tie rod ends, a wheel, 4 tires, and brake rotors & pads. Gave them the ok & purchased from them 4 new Michelin high mileage tires. Received another call with another list. The front struts and the rear lower control arms need to be replaced. Asked if that was everything & I was told yes. Again, told the service writer the car must be dependable and to make the necessary repairs. Total charge - $3,654.06. Drove the car for 9 months & less than 9000 miles. Discovered the new rear tires are warn through to the belts. Brought the car back & was told the rear upper control arms are bad & it would be another $1,300 to replace them. I asked about all the work they had already done & why this was not replaced at the same time. His response was, "they must have been ok." I asked about the tires. They don't wear out overnight & because there are so few miles on them, doesn't that indicate the upper control arms were bad from the time the tires were installed? He had no response. The bottom line is they are unwilling to cover the repair or even work a deal with me. Does anyone know of a shop that stands behind their work? read more
