It was clean and well stocked. This is a buffet and food that had been there a little bit, my husband complained that it was lukewarm. They did refresh the food and it was crispy, spicy and savory. My fat was the fried fish. It was a little spicy. The waitstaff came frequently to refill our drinks and take our plates. If you want an introduction to Louisiana food, it's great for the variety.

Got here after a early morning flight just in time for opening. Recommended by friends we were traveling with so we were a bit skeptical. The crew was welcoming from the initial encounter. We were sitting outside the restaurant waiting for friends and they came out to check on us and said it's too hot to wait outside come on in and we will get you a table big enough for your friends and get you started. That warmth sold me. The floors were a bit greasy so we slid to our table got settled the paid and we were ready to dig in. The buffet was simple but everything tasted great. The spinach bread was a garlicky delicious bread topped with spinach and was great. Gumbo, jambalaya, chicken etoufee and fried chicken that made me believe that someone's granny was back in that kitchen making magic happen. Bread pudding with rum sauce to finish us off. We were full as ticks once our friends showed up. But that didn't stop us from going back for seconds on that chicken. I recommend you make it stop when in NOLA

I discovered this gem a few years ago after flying in to NOLA airport from Houston. I've been dining here ever since when I fly back in. The food is always fresh, restaurant is always clean, and service is friendly. The buffet has a large variety of homestyle southern cooking and is kept well stocked. I felt this would be a perfect place to host my mom's milestone birthday dinner, so I reached out to them via their website to inquire about booking the restaurant for a private event. The experience EXCEEDED my expectations. The restaurant closed to the public for my dinner and I am still receiving positive feedback about the good time everyone had. My mom was the happiest I had ever seen her. The co-owner, Amy, was VERY pleasant to work with from planning in Feb. thru the dinner date in July. She was very responsive to emails/texts, open to all of my ideas, and had a few of her own. This helped tremendously with planning a dinner long distance. Amy and the staff also helped with setting up reserved tables and my decorations for the dinner. Kelly, the manager, was extremely helpful throughout the evening and after dieing clean up. 40+ people fit very comfortably and all guests made it through the buffet line in 15 min!! Silverware was placed on the tables beforehand, and drink orders were taken and filled quickly. The entire staff, from Kelly to the wait staff to the cook, made us feel welcomed and we'll taken care of. Lousiana Purchase staff is the epitome of work "family." I witnessed the staff conversing and having a good time behind the scenes even when they didn't know anyone was watching. :) I am a forever patron of Louisiana Purchase Kitchen.

Have been by this place many times but never dropped in till last weekend. It was pretty darn good. It's smaller inside than I had thought, but I had no trouble getting a table. My timing was perfect because right after I started eating the Sunday church crowd started to show up in force. It's an interesting buffet, you start at one end and proceed straight down picking the dishes you'd like to try. I thought everything I tried was truly good. Don't leave there without trying their bread pudding, best I've ever had.

It's a buffet so it's buffet food but it's good. Price isn't bad either. The staff is also friendly.

The food is pretty good, but the mac & cheese should have a little more cheese on it. Cheddar to be exact.

I feel like waiters that get gratuity feel as though they don't have to work because they have already gotten my tip. Also they charge you $15 if you bring a cake into their establishment. Also I DID not like how they treated a group of "black" young men that came into the restaurant. The food was absolutely disgusting.i hate swai fish. And if your restaurant isn't serving "REAL" catfish at least advertise that on your menu. The fries were hard and overcooked. The egg rolls were semi decent. Definitely would not recommend this place of business

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. Overall, this is one of those restaurants that feels genuinely loved by locals and absolutely worth visiting if you're traveling through the New Orleans area.

My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.

This is an extremely casual place, that is both a seafood market and restaurant. I chose to lunch in. The service is friendly and familiar. I felt just as welcomed as the regulars. The menu is full of tempting selections, but knew a few things I wanted. I started off with a cup of seafood gumbo. After the first bite, I regretted not getting a bowl! Next time! It was rich and flavorful, and was clearly not rushed. Next, I also tried the chicken and andouille gumbo. Also excellent, but just slightly shy of the seafood version. The main portion of the meal was what I came for: the crawfish boil. I asked for spicy, and was informed there was only "just right," and they were correct. Initially, I was surprised that the dish came out warm, but not hot, but that, too, was just right. Oh, and the price! Usually, when you see "market price," you expect to lighten your wallet a bit, but in this case, that meant $5.99 for pound. It's crawfish season, I'm told, but still.... I'm used to paying a lot more. The decor is vintage jazz festival posters. Also, since this Women's History Month, the place is women-owned
