Country Kitchen seems to be a favorite spot for the college kids to take their folks when they come visit. Breakfast all day, plus a pretty run-of-the-mill lunch & dinner menu. Burgers are OK but nothing to rave about; fries are sometimes excellent or sometimes soggy, I don't know why, they seem to have some variables in the kitchen that affect the meals a little more than I really like to see at a restaurant... Also, they are a little on the expensive side for what you get -- you could go to Denny's & get an equivalent Grand Slam for a couple bucks cheaper than the Everybody's Favorite breakfast -- but overall a decent place with a reasonably good menu. read more

For all the people that complain about not having an Ihop or a Dennys here in Warrensburg need to cool it because Country Kitchen is just as good if not better. Country Kitchen is a great restaurant in Warrensburg. The food is priced correctly, the menu is full service 24/7, and it's usually always good. There are two problems I have, and they are both related to service. The first is the knowledgeability of the staff, you won't get the same offer each time. For example, if you want to get a substitution, you'll may get it once, and then the next time, they say it's not available. Second, endless pancakes are usually a waste of the extra dollar. It really depends on your server, but they usually drop the first set off, and they don't come back or notice you've finished them till it's too late and everyone in your party is ready to go. That being said, it's not all bad, it really just the luck of the draw. read more

This was probably one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. We arrived around 7:15 on what seemed to be a fairly slow night, we were seated quickly and our server took our drink order immediately. That's as far as the good service goes. Once we gave our meal orders, it was like we completely disappeared from our waitress's mind. Our drinks were empty long before our food arrived 35 minutes later, mind you it was not overly busy. As for the food, my husband said his steak wasn't bad for a $15 steak and it seemed to be cooked ok, however my meatloaf and mashed potatoes were cold. I informed the girl bussing the table next to us, and she did she'd take it to heat it up for me. WTH? If I had wanted microwaved meat loaf, I would have saved us $30 on bought a TV dinner. Anyway, once my meal was brought back to me, it was pretty greasy and the flavor was mediocre at best. Oh yeah, and our drinks never once got refilled. We drove to Warrensburg from Clinton specifically for Country Kitchen, and now we are both seriously regretting wasting not only the money we spent on our meal but also the gas it took to get there. So would I recommend this place to others? Nope, not if I like them at least. Save your money, and go to IHOP; I sure wish we would have. read more

Went there Labor Day morning and got the breakfast buffet. It was cheap and good and offered many choices. Between the hubby and I we had scrambled eggs with sausage and peppers, fruit, dounuts, mini muffins, French toast,biscuits and gravy, ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes and some sort of hashbrown/potato hash that tasted like it had chorizo in it. Really liked that dish and the French toast was great! Staff was very nice and helpful and got us seated right away. Not in that area very often and haven't eaten at a Country Kitchen in years but I'd go back if I was in town. read more

The apple pie was the one bright spot in our meal here. Warm and nicely spicy. Otherwise, everything was pretty awful. The grilled fish was uncooked in the middle. The pre-baked potato hadn't been thoroughly reheated and was cold most of the way through. The baked potato soup my mother had was glommy-looking and lukewarm. And the broccoli, like everything else, was undercooked. Since I actually like raw broccoli, that wasn't bad, but it hardly qualified as "steamed." Also they ran out of catfish which is what they were promoting and said they would have to get the frozen catfish out and that would be and additional 15 min. Well it took over 30 to get our food so we would have gotten the catfish if we would have known it was going to take just as long. When we first started going to this location food was decent, wait time was minimal and their waitresses were good at making sure our coffee was filled up and our orders were right. After awhile they even put effort into remembering our orders. But the last few times we have been there, we were really disappointed with food and cleanliness of the restaurant. We watched them use the same rag to clean the chairs, then the table tops and move onto the next table doing the same thing with the same cloth. They even vacuumed the floor while we were eating. The quality of food was also getting worse. I'd rather eat somewhere else especially with the new restaurants in town or cook at home. read more

The Handicap parking is in really nice spots.I don't like being led to a dirty table, or having to stand there and wait while its bused in front of us. As someone who works as a server in a restaurant I typically am understanding about things. However, this evening two of my friends and I visited with our UCM game tickets for a free short stack of pancakes. My friend and I both ordered a short stack with added chocolate chips, a side of hash browns and 2 pieces of bacon. When the server brought us our ticket we had been charged for the "cakes, eggs and bacon" in ADDITION to a side of hash browns. He told us it would be cheaper this way. The manager then checked us out and did all discounting calculations by hand after a long period of thinking and scratching out numbers she told us that our free short stack coupons didn't work with the "cakes, eggs and bacon" and we then told her that the server had done that because he said it would be cheaper. After her mental math my friends total came to $7.47 and mine came to $7.57 for the EXACT same order. I wound up paying nearly $8 for two pieces of bacon, chocolate chips and hash browns. Hash browns are listed on the menu as $2.99 and the added chocolate chips were $1.60 so unless two pieces of bacon run for more than $4 these days then we were charged incorrectly. Not to mention the manager was rude about the entire situation until we paid our near $8. Quite a disappointing experience and will be taking our business to iHop from now on. read more
