I brought my Aussie, Cooper, here after he was bitten in the face by a rattlesnake. Of course it was 6PM on a Friday-- and they had antivenin on hand. He got excellent care, from the front desk to the prescribed lab work. Living in the backcountry this was my 4th experience with snakebite. I know what the costs are, and they were definite in line. Antivenin is VERY expensive (approaching $1,000 per dose), and has a short shelf life. Most vets don't have it in stock, and the Emergency vets are super expensive. Cooper spent the night. I got two calls from them updating me on his condition. He was stabilized and his labs came back good after the first antivenin injection. I picked him up the following afternoon. I am very grateful for the staff and the quick attention he received. My total cost was $3000. I know-- yikes. But like I mentioned, I've had 4 dogs snake bitten over the years. This was not unreasonable at all; I expected more based on those previous bite treatments. read more

After going to another emergency pet vet, where I was quoted a ten thousand dollar emergency surgery for my puppy- and made to feel like an awful pet owner, I sought a second opinion and I am so glad that I did. Country Pet reexamined my puppy- successfully removed the rocks in which he had consumed and without surgery. I am so thankful for the approach they took, they were kind and compassionate to myself and my puppy. I got to bring home my puppy today and he is feeling so much better. Dawn (I believe a vet tech?) was extremely kind and helpful with my deaf, senior puppy (15 YO terrier) who desperately needed a dental exam, cleaning and ultimately extractions. She was very understanding and supportive through my being very emotional about my concerns. She worked between me and the doctor/vet to ensure I was comfortable moving forward with everything and my dog was well-taken care of. On the day of her procedure, they even provided a courtesy nail trim- which I really wanted to ask for (also very needed) but didn't out of concern I was overwhelming them with way too many of my own worries. Thank you so much to everyone there who helped us, especially Dawn- Bella is doing amazing, and her very bad old-lady breath appears to be gone. :P More importantly, we can relax knowing she is not in dental pain and can eat more comfortably. My experience at this business was absolutely unacceptable. I have a very sick German Shepherd who is prescribed science diet. I have the prescription in writing. I walked in and asked to purchase my German Shepherd's food and they refused to sell me the product they had unless I paid for both an exam and blood work that would be about $400. They refused to honor the existing RX and told me to go on chewy to order. The reviews online accurately represent this place and I hope they are shut down because they don't care. His only interest is ripping you off and overcharging for for things that are completely unnecessary. He wanted $572.50 just to clean a minor ear infection for my small poodle/terrier mix. This place should be sued for negligence. I've called over 3 times, asking for my dogs records. I took my dog in, as an emergency due to his being unable to breathe, panting excessively. He's 14 years old, and I could tell his body was shutting down. I just wanted to make sure he was comfortable and not in pain. The doctor did over $400!!! In lab work (basically 3 blood tests) and said he is perfectly healthy and the panting was normal. My dog passed away 2 days later, before I could get him into another vet. You could tell they just wanted to take advantage of an animal lover. Shame on you. $400 for some lab work is absolutely ridiculous. But the lack of care and empathy is worse. Today March 19th 2021 brought my sick senior pitbull in to find out what they could do I requested a vet to explain whats wrong and the bill to which the vet tech Lynn Ramirez told me no and the verbally & physically asaulted me in front of my wife mother and 2 small children then another vet tech came out to say sorry and the employees had to drag her back into the building not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 times! Physically DRAG HER BACK IN THE BUILDING BECAUSE SHE WAS TRYING TO ASSAULT ME. It wasn't even untill inhad a sheriff there and was threatening to sue that they decided to compensate me but they made it clear old lynn won't be getting punished because shes beem there for a while and they like her.... So to be clear i just wanted details on my bill and why I had a form to put my dog down in front of me but lynn said he doesnt take time for customers hes to busy. I will forever be grateful to the Dr!!! He saved my puppy's life. We were at the Viejas outlets and my 12 week old Frenchie was bitten by a baby rattle snake. We rushed to country pet hospital and the Dr stopped what he was doing to attend my girl. He was getting ready to start a procedure on another dog but put that on hold to attend my puppy. Her chances of survival were not good, she was small and weighed so little. She was in horrible condition when we got there and we expected the worse. He explained that he had to keep her overnight and if she got worse would have to give her a second dose of antivenin. I received a call the following morning that my little girl had pulled through and was ready for me to pick her up in the afternoon. Thank you Dr for saving my puppy!!!!! I have a hard time finding a veterinarian I can trust, I feel like they all charge different rates and often times give different advice. I think like many pet owners we are at the mercy of the professionals so I'll just post my experience and my bill, maybe that will help others choose or do research. I took my dog here for a bump under her eye. They told me it was an abcess and the tooth had to be removed. We removed the tooth and she's on antibiotics. I don't have any complaints other than the cost seems high, but again I chose not to shop around because my dog was in pain. The Dr. And staff were nice and I have no complaints about the service or how they treated Lucy while I was there. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. BARA and his entire staff at Alpine Country Vet in Alpine. I took my girl Molly (yellow lab) to a Vet in Yuma AZ. a few months ago as she had a terrible odor to her every time she urinated outside. That Vet diagnosed her with a UTI and gave me imoxicillan to give her for over 2 weeks. I returned to my home in Alpine last week and my girl still had the odor and appeared to not be feeling as active as normal. I made an appointment with Alpine Country Vet and got her in the next day. Dr. Bara was also concerned and recommended Xrays. The results were horrifying! He said she had bladder stones which were causing her pain and the horrible infection. Following a "over 2 hour surgery" he removed stones from her bladder , 2 the size of lemons and almost 1.5 cups (measured) of smaller stones! Note that the size of a dog's bladder is typically the size of a man's fist. She was under his care at the clinic for a few days resting very comfortably but is finally home today! All this is thanks to Dr. Bara and his amazing staff for taking the time and expertise to actually find the cause of the situation, rather than just putting a bandaid on it, like the previous Vet did in Yuma! Do not take your pets here!! This was the closest vet to me so I decided to take my cat here when I saw his paw swollen and bleeding. They were nice at first and saw my cat. They wanted to do everything from sedation, blood work, x rays, etc... and told me that his nail seemed to have grown a lil into his skin. I had examined my cats paw before taking him in and saw that his nail was not in his skin- so I'm unsure why they told me that. Seemed like all they wanted was to charge for everything possible. I decided to take my cat home after they gave him antibiotics and trimmed one nail. They said my cat was aggressive and they could only trim one nail. Ok. Fair enough. A few days passed, and my cat was still in pain so I decided to call back to set up an appointment for my cat. This time- they wanted to sedate my cat immediately before taking blood, saying that she was too aggressive. I thought that was unnecessary and asked the guy over the phone if there was anyway they could draw blood without sedating him. Next thing, a woman gets on the phone and starts screaming at me and saying that they won't do anything without sedating my cat because they don't want to cause anymore stress to him. I told her that my cat was over 17 and expressed my concern about him passing away from sedation. She said if it happened then, "my bad". I also asked if she could explain the process so that I could be better educated on what the procedures entailed. Instead, she continued to scream and also said she "didn't care if I left a bad review on yelp or whatever".. and hung up on me. I haven't heard anyone scream this way in a very long time. She seemed very ghetto over the phone. Hopefully, the woman finds peace in her life. There really is no reason to scream at a customer who is worried about her 17 yr old cat being sedated. I feel sorry for her husband or bf if she has one. Anyhow, I wouldn't trust this vet- they are unprofessional, disrespectful, horrible customer service, unwilling to listen, and money hungry. They didn't even realize my cat was a boy... smh. There are other vets out there who will treat their customers right. This place will never get another dollar from me or my friends as long as I can help it. After dealing with this madness, luckily I was able to find a vet who actually listened and made an appointment right away to help my cat. read more

I can see why many reviews are poor. I was told by receptionist that Dr. Brar did hip x-rays for OFA clearance for hip-dysplasia. My co-owners in San Diego took a Champion Doberman for a hip x-ray and results were a disaster. Dog was positioned poorly but x-rays were sent to OFA anyway. The vets at OFA said that right hip looked dislocated and refused to certify the dog. They suggested that we go to a different vet and re-submit x-rays, which we did. The outcome was totally different because the vet knew what he was doing and how to correctly position dog. Dr. Brar did not know how to do a proper OFA x-ray and charged almost double what the experienced vet charged. When confronted regarding the issue, Dr. Brar initially shined it off ("things happen") but quickly became defensive and hung up on me. As a side note: The owners drove over 30 minutes to their initial appointment, only to be told the vet was not there. No one even bothered to contact them to let them know. I would suggest you avoid this place if you are looking for a competent veterinarian for issues of any complexity. read more

I have debated writing this review for over a year. I finally decided to write it when Country Pet Hospital has ignored repeated requests from myself and my pet insurance for medical records. I am in the veterinary field and have been for over 7 years, so I find it appalling that they are so unprofessional. I took my puppy to Country Pet Hospital for a tail docking at 8 1/2 weeks old. When I picked up my puppy the technician did not know how to explain the procedure or medications. I did not need an explanation of the procedure or after care, since I had been involved in tail docking for trauma related issues at my work and additionally understood what the antibiotic and pain medication were, but find it amazing they could not explain after care for those that are not familiar with what medications were going home or what to look for following the procedure. They wanted to send home Meloxicam for my puppy, which when I explained I did not want that medication because it is not recommended in puppies younger than 6 months of age the technician excused himself and went back inside. Then Dr. Brar came out to talk to me, I explained that I was not comfortable with Meloxicam due to my puppy's age and because he was given an injection of Ketoprofen and then prescribed Meloxicam without a wash out period. The Dr. said he's been using Meloxicam after Ketoprofen and has not had any issues using both medications together for puppies regardless of their age, he was also very rude about it. Since I had already paid and they were all rude I just took the medications and went home knowing I was not going to use them or ever go back to Country Pet Hospital. I ended up having to have my puppy's tail treated elsewhere within a couple of days because the stitches were too tight and the tissue was necrosing in one area. Luckily the remaining tail/skin was saved and the only aesthetic thing you see is the lopsided skin that hangs; one side has excess skin and one side it right up by the bone. Initially I emailed requesting records and never received them. I figured they would ignore me and I didn't really want to be involved with them any more so I let it go until I decided to get pet insurance. Now a year after my initial encounter, myself and my pet insurance have made several attempts to acquire my pets medical records and Country Pet Hospital has ignored us both. If there were no issues with the surgery or medications used and prescribed for my pet while he was in their care why will they not release records?? I can't say enough wonderful things about this clinic. I found a little dog hit by a car on the side of the road a couple weeks ago and ran him here thinking he was gonna die. It was moments before they we're getting ready to leave and they met me at my car as my son and I were both in tears and took him inside. They decided they could save him!! I filled out all the paperwork and he made it through the night. The dr gave him fluids and pain meds and antibiotics all free of charge. The next day I paid for X-rays and blood work and we found out he needed a big surgery to save his leg. I am a single mom and do not have the funds for that so the dr decided to take 50% off the surgery and help me save this little dog we now have named Zero. They saved his leg and neutered him and gave him all his vaccinations and then kept him for almost 2 weeks to help rehabilitate him. I could not have asked for a better staff or place for him to be. Nurse Dawn was my biggest supporter and still answers all my crazy questions every time I have them. I appreciate them with all my heart helping me save my little Zero!!!!!! read more

My 4month old puppy has had blood in her stool almost since we've rescued her last month. We sched vet appointment her that same first week and brought a stool sample with us. she got treated for a parasite it was 10 days of pills but the blood consistently was there throughout all 10 days. I called Country Pet Hospital after the 10 days of pills to ask what to do next, and the nurse tells me that they had no idea about the blood in the stool that she just came in for regular vaccinations. Why would we bring in a stool sample for regular vaccinations that she already had? Then they tell Me to leave a message and the vet will call me back the next day. No call the next day (Friday.) We called them on Friday and asked what's going on they tell us to bring in a stool sample again. We drop another stool sample off to them Saturday morning (they don't let you in to the office at all. You stand out front the door, they open it, grab the stool sample shut the door in my husbands face, no instruction or questions). So we left. I have questions tho, so we called them to ask what's going on how do we pay, when do we get results? They said we were supposed to pay before leaving they didn't know we left. They never told us to stay. We drive all the way back I pay them $64 to test it they say they will call me on Monday I confirm with them twice. Monday- no call. Tuesday -no call. Tuesday afternoon, I call and leave a strong message asking for someone to call me back. Today still no callback. My husband calls. They can't find my pup in their system. He gets upset, they finally find her and say oh it all came back negative maybe you should just change her diet. She's had no kibble, no treats nothing but boiled chicken and white rice every day for over a week there's still blood in her stool and she's in pain while pooping. I am livid. Don't go here. We recently took our young (and very active) Doodle to get a large growing mass removed from her elbow. We were very nervous about the procedure and what her recovery would be like. Lyn, Mike, and Dr. Brar were outstanding! Each one followed up with us with either a personal phone call on the weekend after the surgery or a face-to-face "just want to touch base about her progress" over the following few weeks. Dr. Brar and his staff have helped our dogs (7- of all breeds) over the past two decades. We trust them completely. Even when the circumstances have been sad (senior pets), this team has always been sympathetic and gracious. This is a 2 part review. 6 months ago-Took our golden retriever to get spayed here. They were very friendly when I was booking the appointment and during arrival. They took her in and because of COVID I couldn't go in, understandably. They failed to tell me on the phone or before they took my dog inside that she was going to spend the night there until she was already in the building. I left and was told to return the next day. Arrive the next day and the first thing I get handed is the bill- over $800. They told me she was in heat and that was an extra $300. I was shocked because she ended her cycle over SIX weeks prior. Whatever, paid it, received some shitty aftercare instructions and left. Yesterday, we unfortunately went to this vet because we thought our girl had gotten something stuck in her nose because she was sneezing non-stop. They took her in, still had to wait outside because of COVID, they had her in there for maybe 3 minutes, brought her back out and said she had kennel cough-Which made sense once I did some internet searching. The vet came out and talked to my husband but couldn't answer the simplest questions he had. He evaded treatment plan, questions about medicine, and if we really needed to treat this or just let it run its course? He said this will get way worse if you don't give her medicine. Vet returned inside, vet tech came out with 2 shots and said I need to give these to your dog. They gave us no choice or a second to think. Gave her the shots, came out with a bill, asked for our payment, then returned with 3 prescriptions and told us she needed 7 pills in the am & 7 in the PM. We later learned kennel cough is like a cold, you just let it run it's course and keep your dog away from other animals until they're asymptomatic. They charged us $240 for a 5 minute appointment. This place is a SCAM. They don't care about your pet and fully play into your emotional and vulnerable love for your animal to their full advantage. I don't know how that scammy ass vet sleeps at night. What a joke read more
