There's a courtyard bistro on site where one can purchase breakfast etc. One morning I ordered the bistro egg sandwich and I don't think that I'd order it again. The scrambled eggs and bacon on it were very good but the handful of dressed arugula was a little off putting. The bottom of the bun was super soggy and it really could not be picked up to eat.

Its main occupancy is by people that the state or county that pay the hotel to stay there or the Howes Cavern Inn where if you reserve and need to change your date or cancel anytime of the year they won't refund or give you credit for another date. The breakfast was killed with Covid and afterwards not really started up again. The excuse we get is that Wyndham won't allow us to add to what we have. There's a Dunkin across the road though. There's also the Cobleskill dine up the road. So if you need to stay here due to location then there's not much to choose from. If you're traveling east or west stop at another town.

There was an upscale restaurant down the road and generally it was an easy place to book at a time before AirB&B. I potentially needed an accessible room so this was the only option for miles. It was, unfortunately, a short but disappointing stay overall. Let me say that the best part of this experience was the person on the day shift who answered the phone and checked about accessible rooms (you can't get one if your party has more than 2 people in a room-you have to book a second room, so double the price). The check in person also was able to move our room across the hall so we were not up against the highway. He offered up free water bottles for each of us. So far so good. Entering the room, there was a strong smell of deodorizer or cleaner. The double queen room was spacious enough and the refrigerator worked well. A microwave was also available. The bathroom floor seemed new and was overall clean. The toilet flush gurgled but it operated fine. The faucet was replaced at some point but was crooked and the drain stopper was missing its top. Everything in the room was painted in various shades of tan except for the back of the bathroom door which was painted white with a roller since no one cut in along the hook, knob hinges or the floor. The room space itself was stark in that there was no art or decor on the walls except for two mirrors and the triangular headboards. If you wanted to used the drawers, you were limited as the night stand was missing all of the hardware and the bureau was missing 1/4 of them. All the furniture shows signs of dings, dents and distress. The carpet was stained in multiple spots including a 3" diameter red circle on the outside wall that looked like someone had dumped a whole bottle of nail polish. The two chairs at the desk/table were mismatched. One was probably original as the foam was two dimensional. The other was a green banquet chair identical to those in the breakfast room and similar to those in the former Holiday Inn Ballroom in the basement. The air conditioning cooled enough but was malfunctioning as everything in the room, including our clothes, was damp when we dressed in the morning. Coffee and hot water is available 24/7 in the breakfast room. The coffee and water was pleasantly hot in the late afternoon as they did not use air pots like many hotels. I had to got to the front desk for napkins. Upon re-entering our room after getting coffee I understood why they had sprayed our room as there was a strong smell akin to body odor. The bed sheets appeared very clean but the mattress itself was very soft and uncomfortable . The deodorizer must also have been used on the beds as it permeated our sleepwear. We smelled it as we unpacked our clothes at the next stop. Breakfast had a few carb-forward choices and small yogurts. We were glad we had brought something from home, just in case. One of us went out to our vehicle parked on the east side of the building in the early evening . A female employee (?) was sweeping. Two other women were there as well, one on the bench and a third who did not appear to be guest or an employee talking to the sweeping woman. She was dressed in a cleavage revealing top and a leopard skirt that ended where her legs began. When I reported all of this (with less detail) via the Quality Inn survey, I received a terse reply not addressing anything except my observation of the woman in the lot. They implied that the third woman was an employee and that my observation of this person's dress was in "poor taste." I'm not sure what role the woman in question has in that business, but perhaps the person in charge of HR for this location might need to address workwear, if she was in fact an employee. However this might be why this place is in such disrepair. In a public facing business where perception is equally important as the product and service, management here is focused only on being defensive when guests bring up issues. No, I won't be returning.

The room was large, two double beds, was clean. Decor is a little dated but is still charming and homey feeling! There is plenty of towels and blankets. We enjoyed the small seating area by the window to sit and reflect early morning to do reading. The only gripe which bumped the review down was our air conditioner is too small for the large room we had. Possibly could of be remedied if we turned it on prior to going in to Oneonta for dinner. We prefer our AC to be on high...it looked like the knobs have been taken off to prevent changing the settings. The next morning we decided it would be more convenient to have breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast was ABSOLUTELY amazing! We ordered the children's first. The two youngest had the mini pancake...which was not mini! The really enjoyed it! Reading previous reviews we were on the lookout for a gravel unpaved road leading up to the lodge. To our surprise, the gravel road folks grumbled about in previous reviews has been paved into a proper road with lights on the left side of the path to guide your way in the evening. as it was a Friday in August most of the families that stayed for the week for dreampark had checked out and I believe there were 20 rooms booked for the weekend. We were greeted by a friendly young man who was courteous and enthusiastic. The lodge was more than accommodating with an early check in (we called ahead to confirm it was ok) and we were given a room with 2 king sized beds, a kitchenette and a spacious bathroom. As our experiences with hotels this summer was less then spectacular I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the room and that the filters in the air conditioning unit seem to be regularly cleaned. No musty odors, cobwebs or dust to be found in the room. the kitchenette was spotless with 2 electric stove burners, microwave, sink, and mini fridge. I checked in with the yelp app (they have free wifi) and noticed there was a 15% discount upon check in. I went back to the front office and asked the young man who seemed confused and said he'd inquire. Quite honestly at this point I couldn't care less. If we got it, great but the experience and the lodge already proved themselves to be worth the price. Our next stop was the hot tub and pool. Outdoor and overlooking a stunning mountain view it was hard to pry ourselves away after a couple of hours to shower and go eat. We talked with the young man at the front desk regarding the dinner options in the area and decided on the red shed. I would have checked in at the red shed but there was no reception in the area. After dinner, we came back to a lighted path leading us to the lodge and found another equally as pleasant young man on the night shift. we inquired about the fire pit and if there would be one that evening. He jumped up and led us outside and got a fire going! Sitting outside in adirondack chairs sipping wine in cooperstown on a clear night has got to be one of the most awe inspiring view my eyes have ever witnessed. There isn't a constellation in the sky that hides from your view. You feel both amazed and a part of something much greater than your own existence. We were truly grateful at the chance to witness such a beautiful site atop the mountain. Our beds were as comfortable as they appeared and the room was equipped with directTV for our viewing pleasure. In the morning we woke up early to see the sunrise over the mountains (pics posted), had coffee and a continental breakfast in their main area behind the check in area. it was quaint, relaxing and had a screen room with rhododendron chairs that were comfortable and funky. I couldn't recommend this place more for a relaxing stay. Side note: they do have a game room with a couple of coin operated games and an air hockey table along with a swing set for the kids out front. We didn't get to utlize the spa, but heard the masseuse was good at her craft. *After leaving we received a call from the sister of the young man who checked us in. She figured out the yelp discount and applied it to our account. Not everything is perfect, but this really only adds to the charm. The proprietors clearly love their facility and want to impart some of this to you! My favorite amenities were the luxurious lanai in the back yard, the grill (one for each suite!), the blue and green lighting, and of course the location in the heart of the Catskills. The Inn itself is kept in pristine condition, it however hasn't been update in a number of years. The furnishing are dated but again, it was neat as a pin and not a speck of dust to be found. The only draw back is that there is one bathroom that is shared for all 5 bedrooms. If you're staying with a group of friends or family, that might be a little more comfortable.
