They also offer pizza and wings on Friday and Saturday nights. I stopped by Hillbelly's for lunch recently and took a seat in the back dining area and given a lunch menu which offers hot and cold sandwich plates, soup, fried foods, burger plates, plus kids meals. The prices seem reasonable here. I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich with Fries ($10.95 plus tax) and an ice water with lemon. The friendly staff offered me a complementary slice of pepperoni pizza since they launched pizza nights on Friday and Saturday. The pizza was decent which has a good sauce pepperoni slices and minimal cheese on a soft and chewy crust. They also were low on fries so they offered me an additional fried side and I went with onion rings. The food arrived very hot and the Philly Steak Sandwich was very big and thick, which had grilled peppers & onions, melted cheese and 2 grilled steak-ums on a thick soft artisan bun. The standard fries were golden and crisp and as were the battered onion rings. I barely finished my lunch. The check was $11.83 with tax and before tip. Overall, this is a good place to stop for food if you happen to be in Westerlo.

Both folks behind the counter were so friendly, and during the 15 minutes or so we waited for our sandwiches, we were the only people they didn't greet by name. They obviously have a number of regulars, and it's no wonder, because the sandwiches were great. I actually thought the BEC was outstanding, and better than the Chicken Philly. In addition to good sandwiches, they've got local pies for sale, all the chips and drinks you'd ever want, and tables inside and out if you decide not to take your food home with you. First off I'm not sure what food people in these reviews are eating, because in my experience the Italian mix sub was very bland, the bread was dry, and the meat looked pale and weird. That ambience of the place was nostalgic which is the reason why I gave it 3 stars and not 2. The woman helping me was friendly enough but made it a point to tell me how gas prices were fine at $4.10 per gallon as long as Trump was the president, which annoyed me because it gives an indication that details don't matter here. Given the taste of the $15 small sub I paid for it definitely tracks. Be your own critic, but for me it's the history of this place and not the food has people coming back. I won't be one of them.

Some notable changes I noticed during the most recent visit include a big flat screen TV and tables and chairs indoors. The freezer apparently was out of order, but I would have loved to get their tiramisu which is also one of the best I've ever had. Their sub always strikes the right balance in the dressing, bread, meats, and toppings. Toppings are consistently good quality, and you can customise your sub by asking staff what you do and don't want on it. I hope they stay healthy and busy for decades to come.

The Macaroni Salad (mayo based) had soft elbows with small bits of tomato and onions, a good cold deli salad on a hot day. The food I enjoyed was spot on! It is…read morereally nice and clean inside and everyone is very friendly and eager to help their customers. We got a couple of subs here. They were reasonably priced and quite large. Bread has a nice crust on it. Loved it and will definitely be going back soon. They also sell deli meat and cheese by the pound. They have hot subs as well as cold. I just wish they were open a bit later than 5:30 pm as we sometimes work past this time and then cannot get a sub. It would also be great if their day off was Tuesday as most places in this area are all closed on Mondays so it would be great to have another option. Just throwing that out there. All that said, this is a wonderful deli and I hope they thrive for many years!
