Mike and Anthony did an excellent job installing a new 200 amp CB panel on our Eichler home. The old one was an original, outdated and unsafe Zynsco panel which was also an eyesore on the back wall of our house. Mike knew I didn't like the CB panel on the back wall so he created a small junction box at the location of the old CB panel and then placed the new 200 amp panel around the corner on the side of the house, and it looks SO much better. Mike is an electrician and doesn't do the finish work, so we hired a contractor to install new Eichler paneling and seal around the CB panel and they did an amazing job as well. Another great thing about Courtesy Electric is that Mike returns his calls and texts and clearly communicates his intentions and his schedule availability, so you are not left hanging or waiting like with some other contractors. Had courtesy electric over to fix an outlet for my mom that was causing issues. Technician was there 5min and flipped a GFCI switch I did not know was In Garage. Charged 270$. Charging such an enormous amount for such a beyond easy quick fix is a little shady to me. I'm understand a general service charge but 270$ for 5 min work is crazy. We hired Mike to replace a sixty-year (or more) fuse box in the house we just bought. (Yes, it was so old that it required glass fuses -- good luck replacing those.) We first came by him one night when we blew out a fuse daring to run both the dryer and microwave at the same time. Mike answered when my wife called (while I was out hunting for replacement fuses) and he was more than happy to walk us through the issue in the evening hours over the phone. When we hired him to replace the fuse box with an awesome modern-day breaker box, he did a great job -- him and David (his apprentice) were super friendly, explained everything, and cleaned up when done. So far electricity is still flowing to our house (and we can run the dryer, microwave, AND toaster oven simultaneously : ] ). We'll definitely be hiring Courtesy Electric again in the future for more electrical work in updating our house. Mike called me back and let me know that I should call PG&E because it sounded like one of the outside power lines might be the culprit. While relocating to Mountain View, we needed an additional electrical outlet installed in our new home. After calling several electricians, I decided to work with Courtesy Electric because of their responsiveness, scheduling flexibility, and knowledge. When I spoke with Mike on the phone about the project, he asked important questions, like how we intended to use the outlet (for a computer printer). Other electricians probably would have just completed the installation without first understanding the requirements. Mike gave good advice about the wiring and placement of the outlet, offering cost-saving suggestions while ensuring the end result would meet our needs. Courtesy Electric arrived on time and completed the work quickly and correctly. After the outlet was installed, the electrician helped move the printer to the space we wanted to use it and encouraged me to test it before he left to ensure everything was working correctly. He even took time to point out an unusual GFCI configuration in our house, helping save us potential consternation and another service call in the future. (By the way, there were no additional charges for the time kindly spent on these steps, since the work was charged at a fixed amount, not based on time and materials.) Since that first project went so well, we invited Courtesy Electric back to install a NEMA 14-50 electrical outlet to use for charging an electric vehicle. Our new house was supposedly "pre-wired" for this purpose, but really there was just a hole covered by a plate marked "car charger" without a single wire behind it. Despite that project taking more work than anticipated, Mike gladly completed the wiring for the original price he quoted. The new outlet looks nice and works great. I first used Mike when I remodeled my kitchen and adjoining family room. He did a marvelous job on the dimmable recessed lighting for both rooms, additional outlets for the kitchen as the newer appliances needed more amp power than previous which in turn required a new electrical panel box, and installed LED lighting underneath the cabinets. Mike did a terrific job that my sister used him to install additional recessed lighting for her dining and family rooms ! And yesterday, Mike came out to repair an outlet when I blew out the circuit in the garage. He patiently explained how not to overload the circuit but he installed a GFI for the outlet to prevent further outages just in case I forget. I had to install a new ice machine in my shop and it required 220V wiring. I called a few places to get quotes and Courtesy Electrics was the middle bid. Mike came out to take a look at exactly what is involved and gave me a good run down of what he would do along with how much time was required. I have used Mike from Courtesy Electric on multiple occasions: The first time, I had contacted 3 different electricians, and Mike was the only one to respond, and he did so within minutes of my email. He came out that time to help me route speaker wire through my crawl space for my home entertainment system. He and his assistant were extremely efficient and took care to protect my floors and walls. They also installed a series of dimmable recessed lights in the ceiling, all in the same afternoon. I had an issue where my pool equipment was tripping my electrical box. One electrician suggested that I get a lot of work done, which would be very expensive. I had Mike come out and he provided a simpler less expensive approach, to see if that would solve the problem. My electrical box hasn't tripped since. While fixing the pool issue, I had him quote me on some outdoor kitchen lighting. Again, his quote was less than I expected. They were flexible with scheduling and the finished product was great. When we realized the fluorescent lights above the sink were on the same switch, he found a really bright set of LED light strips to replace them.
