I mainly leave reviews for these corporate chains so that I know for the next time we're driving through if it's OK to stay. And Courtyards are usually good, and I usually don't have to sleep with one eye open (except for that disastrous stay in Montgomery, AL). This one is no exception. It was a good night's rest for the price. The hallways didn't smell of pot smoke (seems to be an ongoing issue at the majority of Courtyards I've stayed in) and our room was clean (no stains on the couch! Normally I don't go near couches in these places), the bed was comfortable and the room temp just fine. They even have a decent (small) gym and a large lobby with plenty of seating and tables should you desire something from the cafe (limited hours of operation so make sure you get your caffeine before 10 am!) read more

Something is horribly fukt up with the prices for the second weekend of September this year and no, that's not when there's an event at the BristolRaceway. A month ago, a manager at the location told me that that was just a placeholder price (to scare away most people) because they might be having a group come that weekend and that it should be resolved within a week, but it's not. Rooms were very damp. Lots of poorly repaired ceiling leaks. Beds barely looked made with crumpled pillows and blankets. Washcloths were stained gray (supposed to be white) and blood stain (hoping old) on a pillow case. Hallways smell like pot. Pool was clean and small but had the tiniest towels it was comical trying to dry off even children with them. They charged me a 250-dollar smoking fee when no one smoked in my room. They then told me after I called them that they had an inspector come in and check the room... Wouldn't you think someone would call and tell me about the charge? They did not. And then when I call them, they have no answers. Terribly managed, terribly ran. There are several other hotels around that area. Please choose another one. And the worst part is my door is right by the outside door where people were supposed to smoke. read more

We are Ambasaador members with Marriot. We usualily have long stays (months) at hotels for work. The toilet had old urine and I had to clean it up, the surfaces were dusty, had to clean walls with Clorox wipes, the rooms with balconies are filthy and bugs. Had a house keeping lady within the first two weeks who selectively took the trash out of the bins, didn't make the bed, and left the dirty towels on the floor. Very strange! The manager wants to limit the amount of towel, klennex and toilet paper to Ambassadors member. They have other long term guest who are smoking inside the rooms and you get to smell cigarette smoke coming from the AC unit during the night. The other night, we wanted to use the jacuzzi but we found glass around the pool and jacuzzi area. Won't stay here again! read more

If you want a quiet, NO BUG place to stay then don't stay here. Oh if you want them to answer the phone too don't stay here. I called 15 times and it just rang and rang till the call cut off. Imagine you have no service and call your family from the room phone to tell them where you are and then your family has an emergency, good luck getting a call on your room phone BECAUSE THEY DONT ANSWER! I called Marriott customer support and they tried to call them as well and no one answered. I tried to get the sister hotel next door to call and no answer. Ok night of rest but restless thoughts when you see the door across the hall bagged up. Asked the front desk and they said they were renovating the room. I called BS. Only 1 room on floor 2 and 3 rooms on floor 4 next to each other. There is no way you would renovate rooms that way. More like fumigation was going on. We stopped here overnight and it's a very clean modern hotel rooms. With a California king size bed overall good stay will be back. The best part of this stay Has to be in the shower. The water pressure is better than my hose out in the backyard at home and a pleasant surprise in a hotel. Will definitely be back. read more

The location was ideal, as it was close to shopping, and plenty of restaurants. The hotel staff was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable upon entry: not too warm and not too cold. When we needed more towels and toiletries the staff was pleasant and willing to help us. It was just one night, but we would certainly stay again. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because the tub was small, the rug was a little itchy, and there were not a lot of options or access to power outlets. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot in Bristol last night on the last night of a road trip from Nashville to Baltimore and back, and it was fine! Quick check-in, quick check-out. Room was decent (our countertop in the bathroom had seen better days and didn't want pressure on it), but it was clean and looked recently renovated. It wasn't a very quiet place to stay (lots of road noise), but it was an okay place to spend a night. read more

Great experience for a quick, one night stop. Check in was a breeze. Lobby was spacious. Bistro looked fun and the menu sounded tasty, although we didn't order anything. Our room was clean and beds were comfy. Only downside, and I know this is a personal preference, but I really don't like feather pillows and of course that's what hotels feature. This one is no different. Gotta crick in my neck that won't go away. Oh well, everything else was great. Worth the $$ and will stop again next time we pass thru for our annual holiday trip. read more

Always loved staying here when I worked in the area but was disappointed when I arrived this time because they didn't clean their driveway/parking lot after the snow. Almost fell a few times and watched others struggle. Even sidewalks were not really cleaned off. The handicapped parking areas were not cleaned out either. Very disappointing. I get that it was unexpected but other hotels and businesses had their parking lot cleared Bistro was awesome! Love the food and the gal that worked each evening was so nice and friendly. From my check in, to my check out I was treated in a way that left me smiling. The front desk people were so very kind, and one was even a classmate from Virginia Intermont College, who had worked with my college sweetheart's mom! That made it extra special. My room was super comfy, clean, smelled good without any sinus issues! (You know how some rooms have synthetic smells which make your nose stuff up? - Not this hotel. Wonderful!) The bathroom was roomy, the soaps smelled wonderful, and the bed was so comfortable that I slept all night without waking up! This also means that the other guests were respectful, and it was quiet. :) I loved my stay at this hotel. Getting to Bristol I had a nightmare from hell experience with American Airlines. The folks at this hotel made me believe in true quality customer service. My stay here was REALLY GOOD. Thank YOU!!! Room 526, wow! Long story short,  this is the hotel I originally wanted when I booked through hotels.com.  I allowed them to talk me into the holiday inn across the parking lot.  They said it was a better hotel for cheaper. WRONG! That place was so bad I couldn't finish my stay. I called hotels.com the next morning and demanded they get me over to the Marriot like I originally wanted.  I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is amazingly friendly and they took us right away instead of making us wait for the 3pm check in since we had not slept the night before. You could actually smell the clean in the room. The beds were so soft we were asleep in a matter of minutes. The shower pressure was on point as well as a seat in it which was awesome since I am partially handicapped with muscle deterioration in my back and spinal issues. Terrible experience. I paid $159 for a moldy shower and a horrendous night. First, the good: great beds, linens, pillows--as always, for Marriott. It was really the only reason this got an extra star. The bad: everything else. When I first arrived, I checked out the huge shower, only to discover it was covered in black mold, from top to bottom. It was so bad that I took a picture and texted a few people, asking if they saw what I saw (literally I said "hey check out my hotel shower" and everyone texted back "Eww!" or "OMG that's disgusting!"). I debated on going to the desk to get a new room, but I figured if the mold is so obviously growing in this shower, it's likely the other rooms looked the same, since they're all cleaned with the same materials and likely by the same one or two people. I actually drove down to Target to buy shower shoes/flip flops....which they didn't have, as it's October. My other problem was the air conditioning, which was radiator-style, would NOT stay on. I get that it's "green" to have these intermittent A/C units, but the room was downright hot--and it was only 75 degrees outside. I had it the unit set at high, and on the coldest temp, but it would only come on for 3 or 4 minutes then turn off for a four or five times that. This was especially problematic since the linens on the bed contain a sheet under a thick, albeit soft, comforter. Then there's an empty jacuzzi tub in the room that you can fill up with hot water to use. I was worried that would make the room unbearable since the A/C couldn't chill the room in the first place. I'd have no problem with radiator-type cooling if it would stay ON and actually cool the room. On top of it all, this hotel is literally right on the highway (I-81), and the windows are not high enough quality to keep the noise at bay. Because of this, every time a truck drove by during the night, you could hear it. It was so loud that I got up to see if the windows were open, but they were closed tight. When I had to shower in that moldy shower in the morning, I realized just how bad the mold was. It was apparent from outside the shower that the corners and floor were moldy, but once standing inside of it, I could see black fuzz sprinkled on the grout between the stones. Finally, when I left at 5:30 am, I stopped by the desk to complain, but no one was there. The lobby was brightly lit with the TV on. But no clerk. I'm shocked this is a Marriott. I certainly won't stay here again, but I'm not even sure if Courtyard is routinely like this (??). I'll do more homework before booking another in the future. read more

We came here for an anniversary overnight. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and new everything is. Others have complained about the interstate nose but that wasn't a problem for us on the Linden Drive side of the hotel. We did keep hearing noise from the elevator beside us, we think. We're not really sure where it was coming from. But it wasn't enough that our sound machine couldn't take care of. :) Clean room, bathroom and overall hotel made this a place to go for future date nights. read more

Checked in on a Thursday afternoon for a Friday evening wedding in Abington. We always stay at Marriott properties and this was the closest. I believe they are building a Marriott there, but it isn't ready yet. Check in -- Very good customer service at church in. Made a couple of recommendations for dinner downtown. We took them up on 620 State. Great recommendation! Rooms -- Rooms are very large and comfortable. Microwave and refrigerator were both available. Only knock is the highway noise from I-81. Was ok to put me to sleep, but can see how others might not enjoy it. If possible I would give a 4.5. Hotel has an indoor pool and fitness center. They also have a bistro with bar and food. We spent the past week on the road at various hotels. This was the most disappointing of the trip. There is a 6" wide sweet spot in the bottom of the tub insert where you can safely stand without falling. The bath solid surface countertop is moving and with no legs supporting it it is destined to fall soon. The walls apparently have no sound insulation because we could hear every conversation our neighbors had. When I went to the lobby in the morning to check out and get a complimentary cup of coffee I was told they don't have complimentary coffee. Guess what... they also don't have our business any more. read more

In the words of my son...."this room is my dream room." This place is clean and the beds are amazing. Marriott rarely fails! The standards are pretty consistent throughout the US. I have stayed in a couple. The decor is pretty much the same in all the rooms, clean lines, modern, comfortable! The pillows even have variety from soft to hard..feather to whatever! There is a Starbucks, a bar, free wi-fi. You really can't ask for a better hotel on Interstate 81. After driving 6 hours...I was done! My only minus star, was for the lady at the front desk who did not look up to greet me. She didn't even say hello, until I spoke first. I will accept it as a fluke! Plenty of places to eat near by (all chain restaurants, btw) the in house laundry facility was very convenient. The staff was very friendly. This hotel was very nice! It was clean and very inviting! Megan at the front desk was absolutely awesome to deal with! Beds were clean, bathrooms were clean, and the room was clean! The reason for the 4 star is because the ac didn't cool enough and the hot tub and pool wasn't open! We had the interstate side and were kind of nervous of the road noise due to prior reviews but you couldn't even hear the traffic! Also the breakfast was a little on the expensive side! But it was what all the courtyards I've stayed in, very well maintained place! Would def stay again! read more

This Courtyard Marriott upholds the hotel chain's rigorous standards for quality and service, evident in the efficient staff and clean and modern facility. As you may have experienced, quality can vary from branch to branch, so it was good to find that our second lodging option, after the other was too unacceptable, met and even exceeded our expectations. Though our room was smaller than some of the other Marriott rooms I've stayed at, it was very well furnished, clean, and airy. They have the usual Marriott amenities, like a beautiful, though small, indoor pool, complimentary breakfast and beverages, fitness center (24 hours), vending and ice machines on each floor, etc. Additionally, rooms are provided with name-brand hair and body care products, like mini bottles of Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner. Nice! Again, these are all perks, not requirements, but I nearly kissed the floor after seeing this Marriott's lobby and remembering the dingy carpet and musty smell of the Days Inn that I had fled from. Compared with any other lodging option, I would say Bristol, VA's Marriott is still an above average experience, regardless of what you're used to or have encountered in your travels. read more

Quiet, near plenty of restaurants in walking and driving distance. My only knock is the food. Stay out of the restaurant in the hotel. Overpriced and not good. We had booked two suites here for a little family birthday celebration. The major draw was that the pool was listed as open, with covid restrictions in place regarding number of people allowed at any one time. The granddaughter was really like looking forward to this. Prior to our arrival, we checked in via the APP. At this point we were asked if we needed anything for our room. We requested extra blankets and pillows. We got to the hotel at 3:30. My husband was told they weren't sure our rooms had in fact been cleaned. The clerk sent someone to check and then made my husband aware of the bar/bistro hours, chatted about her personal life, etc. We finally got to our rooms. We had to call down for the extra linens we had asked for, they weren't there. We got settled in and got ready to go to the pool. I decided to double check with the front desk and sure enough, the pool was closed. Apparently scheduled maintenance had not been performed and they couldn't allow the pool to be used. Seems to me this could have been mentioned upon check in, instead of hearing about her personal life. If we had known it prior to getting all settled, we would have asked for a refund and stayed elsewhere. The room was okay, but the 24 hour NASCAR race that was Interstate 81 outside our windows was ridiculous. The place was practically empty, why would you put guests on the highway side if you didn't have to? There were cigarette butts in the hallway and the room had a definite funk to it. There was no one at the front desk when we checked out so had no opportunity to voice our negative impressions in person, therefore the rant here. DEFINETLY not worth the money spent. Will never stay at Marriott again. Could have had a better experience for way less money at a Choice Hotel, plus BREAKFAST! We gave it two stars simply because the granddaughter had fun playing with the rolling ottoman. read more

We were very happy with our overnight stay here. We'll use this place again during future road trips. Friendly staff, good, reasonably priced food at the Bistro, and a clean, spacious room. No real complaints. The highway noise wasn't an issue for us or our kids. We got a good night's sleep. Also worth noting, the carpeting in our room and the hallways seemed to absorb noise well. Despite our best parenting efforts, our kids do a fair amount of running around, and it didn't make much noise at all. read more
