I stayed here for work recently and it was a nice stay, though the bathroom could use a good, deep clean and a new showerhead. Quite a bit of mold along the edges in the shower. Plus the showerhead could not be moved up or down so the water shot across the shower instead of down. Bed was comfy. Half the TV channels did not work also due to poor signal. read more

We had a good two night stay here before our cruise departed out of Montreal. Our red eye got in on time and we arrived around 9:30am. We had three rooms reserved and were able to get two ahead of time thanks to platinum status. Clean and no frills rooms but that's all we needed. There weren't any restaurants or sights to see really close to the hotel, but it was walkable or Uber-able (2 mile radius), to the areas of interest for us. I would not stay here again, and here's why: it was our first time in Montreal, and upon checkin the desk agent did not ask us if it was our first time, nor did he offer any advice as we usually receive when we're "new in town". If you're a Gold Elite Marriott member, take heed -- we weren't offered our 4pm late checkout, our complimentary upgrade was not available, and they did not mention any of the incidentals that were covered. The room was facing other rooms across the way, so there was no privacy unless you closed the drapes. The room was a bit dark and dated, but it was spacious. There are no USB ports anywhere, just plugs, so be sure to bring your plug-in multi-USB chargers. The coffee in the room was a Keurig, with only 2 caffeinated pods -- I think it's time to update your in-room coffee makers, guys! Keurigs are just not great, in terms of coffee, cost, or the environment. Plastic cups in the bathrooms. Thin toilet paper. Cheap towels. Cheap soaps and body washes. I just wish, at the price point this hotel has, that they would crawl out of the early 2000s and offer something a bit better for the guests. The AC was reset every night -- not sure if this was automatic or done by the staff, but every evening upon returning to our room, it was way too warm and set above what we had previously set the AC to. Especially during a humid heatwave, this was really uncomfortable! On our last day of checkout, we were awakened by a loud fire test. It would have been good to have some warning about this -- maybe a flyer in the room? I saw there was one on the checkout desk, but how could this have helped us if we didn't see it the night before? The positives: the room was very clean (which is very important), the bed was comfortable, and it was close to the Place d'Armes Metro station. The pool on the 11th floor, gym, and sauna is super nice. I wouldn't have cared too much about any of the negatives if it was a 1 or 2 night stay, but we were there for 5 days. I think if they put a bit effort into updating things and making things a bit nicer for the guests, this would be a much better place to stay... but as it stands now, at this price point, I would not recommend it for longer than a night. read more

Last month, I attended a three-day workshop for work. It was held at this Courtyard in downtown Montreal. It was strongly recommended to stay here, so I did! I didn't have a problem finding the hotel. It was meta that there's a courtyard at the Courtyard! I parked at both and checked in. The man at the front desk was nice. I am a platinum elite member at Marriott, so I have the option of either getting points or a free snack when I first check in. I tend to do the former. I needed to park my rental car somewhere. He was kind to tell me that the garage is to the left of the hotel and that I need my room key to gain access to it. I also asked about where my workshop was being held. It was on the second floor in salon Beliveau. I then figured out as the week progressed that each room on the second floor is named after a player or coach of the Montreal Canadiens. It was a fitting tribute. There was a bellhop who asked whether I needed help. I welcomed it. He was kind to bring my computer bag and luggage up to my room. I was on the seventh floor. He said that I had a great view of the city, overlooking the courtyard. Sweet! I needed him to break my $20 bill, so I could tip him. He was great and I said thanks to him again when I headed downstairs to move my car into the underground garage. The garage has tight spots. I was driving a mini SUV and backed it into a snug spot. I didn't drive it during my entire stay. I walked everywhere, as the hotel's location was perfect to get anywhere. It took six minutes to head over to Chinatown. Complexe Desjardins was two minutes away. I took in the Just For Laughs comedy festival and my walk was probably four minutes. My room was spacious and clean. I loved my king bed. I felt like I was at home. I sat on the sofa often to either snack or sip my bubble tea. The bathroom was clean and inviting. I felt relaxed after I showered each night. There was a mini fridge, which I used to chill my Diet Coke and water. Every day, there was complimentary bottled water in the room, which I appreciated. Housekeeping did a fantastic job making my bed and cleaning my room. Staff did not miss a beat. I was impressed. The workshop went well. I learned so much from it. It also helped that the Marriott made sure that we were fed and comfortable. We had snacks each morning and afternoon during our breaks. We got berry smoothies, tea, cookies, and granola bars. Each table in our room had a glass flask with lemon slices and ice. Staff made sure that they were always full, including the hot water for tea and coffee. Lunch was provided. I had no idea and was thrilled! It was buffet-style. Each day had different options. We got everything from lasagna to pan-seared fish. The desserts were fantastic. It was nice to spend an hour chatting with colleagues and getting to know them, along with our trainer. I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. It was great to roll out of bed and head to the second floor for work. I wish I could do that back home! I would definitely come back and stay here again. Decent Marriott right downtown in Montreal. We couldn't check in early which wasn't surprising on a busy Sunday but when we did, our room was surprisingly huge. What's funny is we had a king sized bed, sofa bed and a ton of space to move around, but we had two super tiny night stands. Couldn't figure that one out. Old port - 7 min drive away. Check in process: They accommodated an early check in as my flight was early. She was kind & and process was smooth. Check out was equally easy. I was provided a receipt electronically. Lobby - smelt wonderful every time I entered Staff: Great, no issues, they accommodated on all levels (extra towels, cups & cutlery) No room service - due to COVID Rooms: Neat & Tidy. Bed & pillows super comfortable! Bathrooms - large, tub - soaker tub. Amenities: Gym - clean - located on the high floor, you can overlook the city from the large (ceiling to floor windows). Great equipment selection. Pool- absolutely wonderful, 4ft deep. Clean - access to outdoor patio. Jacuzzi tub - great feature as well. Parking: $29/night - seems to be average with what every hotels charges. These are tight spots but there are different levels so enough parking spots. Oh, Marriott. Oh, Courtyard by Marriott. I so want to love you as I'm a loyal member of your brand. Have been for years. I waited until my recent 3-night stay was complete before I wrote a review...because my first impression was different from the overall experience. The location is fantastic. Super close to Chinatown, Old Montreal, the underground city/shopping and many other tourist-stops. Upon entering, I actually questioned if I was in the right location. The vast, clean lobby with high ceilings, adjoining restaurant and cafe were....well...too nice to be a Courtyard (in my experience/opinion). I kept looking around for an identifying sign and finally spotted one on the front door. Ok....good start. Nice digs. Then I waited to check in. For a long time. And...there were 3 counters open with 3 staff available and only one person in line (in front of me). But I took a deep breath, relaxed...and waited...someone finally freed up...and she was terrific. The (heated!) parking garage is right underneath the hotel and has direct access to elevators straight up to the rooms. That perk, however, costs $28 per night (which I didn't find out about until checkout). It would have been nice to know about the parking charges before I booked this room; I didn't see it anywhere on any pre-reseration literature. But it was fabulously convenient. The room was really, really nice. Super spacious - I think I had the largest room on the floor (a corner room). Nice view. I did spy a couple of stains on the carpet and did find one long, dark hair (that wasn't mine) on a fresh towel...but otherwise...cleanliness wasn't a huge issue (as I read in other reviews). The bed was comfortable and the temperature in the room was generally OK (even though it was very cold and windy this past weekend). One weird glitch was that the toilet seat didn't quite fit the actual toilet correctly; that was pretty annoying. I know noisy neighbors aren't anything you can do much about, but we had some horrible drunk idiots nearby that slammed the door at about 3am several times...and were beyond noisy. So, I didn't feel bad when we left early and simply let the door close behind us bright and early (which is essentially the same as slamming the door....these doors are heavy and make a racket if you don't body block them and gently guide them back in place). Sorry, hungover, inconsiderate morons. No. Not really. The only other issue was on the penultimate day - we had walked a LOT (my watch recorded 10 miles) and just wanted to decompress before going back out for a bit. Neither of our keys worked in the elevator to get back up to the room. We had to stand in line to get them re-activated. The young man that assisted us had a bit of an edge and said that it was probably from being near a cellphone. Nope. That's not why it happened...someone screwed up and put the wrong date in the system perhaps? Whatever. It was a minor inconvenience and we received a half hearted apology. Seeing some of the other reviews and experiences at this property, I guess we had a rather stellar stay by comparison. read more

When picking a hotel in Montreal, the options were all over the map. Not wanting to spend an absolute fortune, we went with a middle of the road option without super high expectations. I've stayed in plenty of Courtyards before, but they've never blown me away, until now. My stay was 7/12 - 7/14/19. Check in at the hotel was a breeze even at 12:30 am, after a very long travel day. The front desk staff put us on the top floor of the hotel (score), and we went up the elevator to our surprising room. They put us in a corner room that was not only large but probably had 12-foot ceilings and floor to ceiling windows making the space seem even bigger. Maybe the fancy hotel room was due to my platinum status or maybe all rooms are like this, I'm not sure, but I like it! There was more than enough space for two people. In fact, you could probably fit 4 (two adults, two kids) given the ample closet, desk and sitting room space. The mattress and bedding were heavenly and top quality. I commented more than once that I wanted to steal the sheets since they were so comfortable (I swear I left them on the bed). Everything in the room felt new, clean and updated. The bathroom was huge, and I want to shower everyday in that luxurious shower. The bathroom also has a separate thermostat from the room, which is perfect since I love sleeping in as cold of a temperature as possible but don't necessarily want the same cold temp in the bathroom. The pool is updated, modern and a dream. It's big enough to fit approximately 15 people without being overcrowded. There is also a hot tub with both that and the pool overlooking the city skyline (it's on the 11th floor). There is a lifeguard on duty, which might be because the pool floor can get and stay slippery, but she regularly mopped it to make sure everyone was continuously safe. Additionally, there is an outside seating area with maybe 10 chairs where you can lounge and take in the sun. If you hear noise from above, it might be the tenants saying hello from their balconies on a higher floor of the building, above the hotel. The 11th floor also has a stunning and impressive full gym also looking out to the city skyline. The 11th floor is also a conference and event space, and I got to see part of a stunning wedding taking place on Saturday evening. The location of this hotel is key. It's 10 - 12 minutes to everything you want. Going one way, it's 10 -12 minutes to the harbor, and another way it's 10-12 minutes to the tourist center (where most bus and city tours leave from). There are great restaurants, churches and monuments all within walking distance. While at the Courtyard, we never once needed an Uber or cab, but logged a lot of miles walking around the city. I honestly would have to make up a complaint for this hotel, because it really checked every box and there wasn't one memorable issue/concern/complaint. Typical complaints like the elevators being slow or housekeeping knocking every few minutes were never an issue, and I feel like staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. When checking out, I thanked the manager for a great stay, because they should always get to hear both the good and the bad. read more

We had a great stay at the Courtyard Downtown. From the moment we checked in, the staff were nice, friendly, and gave us excellent recommendations on restaurants, bars and things to do. The room was nice and big with a large bathroom as well. Decor was nice and up to date and the bathroom had a large shower, lots of hot water, and excellent water pressure. The room was cleaned very well and I don't really have any complaints on that account. We had drinks at the bar in the hotel a few nights and loved it there. The staff here were also very nice and friendly, attentive and gave good recommendations on drinks. We had breakfast in the hotel a few days because it was convenient and quick. The first day it was good, the second day it was just ok (food tasted better the first day). Location was great giving you the ability to walk to lots of different areas from the hotel. Only issue was the air conditioning. After the first 2 nights of our 5 night stay, it stopped working. Reported this to the front desk and they sent someone right away (which was nice). He changed the air filter but that didn't seem to help. Sweated it out 2 nights then reported the issue again. The next technician (also sent right away) changed out the whole unit and that worked, so the last night was nice and cool. Also, walls are a bit thin and we were near the elevators, so it was noisy Friday and Saturday night. Hotel has signs asking guests to be quiet but I guess there's only so much they can do. We didn't know who was making the noise or what room they were going to, so we were unable to report it. Overall a great stay, would highly recommend. read more

A nice upscale hotel in the downtown area, minutes away from old Montreal and Chinatown. But what is the point of a great location when rooms are noisy and cannot offer a good nights sleep? I was happy with the view when I checked in but was utterly disgusted early in the morning when constant noise from the neighboring buildings started. The management needs to either fix the noise issue with soundproof windows or not sell these rooms. Giving these rooms to long stay guests who are loyal Marriott users is a joke. US customers beware. This is not similar to our Courtyard. No breakfast not vouchers. We're titanium Bonvoy members and we inquired and were offered nothing. No toiletry items in bathroom. Stop by pharmacy and buy your own. Liquid soap in shower but no lotion, q tips, cleaning pads or shower bar soap. No coffee service in lobby. Coffee pods in room but you know how they are. The location is the positive for this hotel. Next time we'll go back to our Springfield location in old town. read more

This hotel is super trendy, clean and new! We stayed here for a long weekend and had a very nice experience. The room was also very spacious and we had a great view of this gorgeous city. Staff working there were awesome. They gave us some great recommendations on places to visit Etc This hotel is also in a WONDERFUL location downtown. This hotel always is a pleasant stay. The location can't be beat easily walkable to old town, the port, convention center, and more. The rooms are clean and have enough lighting and outlets. The hotel was clean and beautiful and the location was perfect Everything about my business trip would have been perfect except for the front desk My associates and I experienced some pretty rude, aloof and unprofessional manners from the front desk staff, one woman in particular There was an issue with billing as the room was supposed to be pre-paid after a few calls to my company's headquarters it turns out things were in order but we were made to wait for almost 20 minutes while the issue was resolved. This would not have been something I would be upset about if the staff had been polite and said "we're sorry we're striving to straighten this out" Instead I was treated like I was the bad guy like I was trying to pull something over on them Even when the situation is explained by accountant and the problem was trying to be worked out they persisted and continuing to make things more difficult for us While we were working on the situation the woman actually looked over and started talking in a flirtatious manner to an older gentleman behind us as if we did not exist at all If it were not for that one experience I would say the hotel was wonderful but the treatment at the end was so bad that myself and the company I was with will never stay there again read more

We enjoyed our stay here as part of a family vacation to Montreal. It wasn't perfect, but there certainly weren't the problems that some of the other reviewers experienced. Here are some strengths and weaknesses: Strengths: 1. Location - very central, within walking distance to Old Montreal, the Palais-de-Congres, Sainte-Catherines shopping, Peel/Mountain, etc. 2. Clean, spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. I slept well. 3. Excellent wifi for free - fast enough for Netflix, and other streaming services. 4. Nice lobby space and hotel restaurant. 5. Nice gym with plenty of cardio equipment (although very light on the weight-training equipment). 6. Nice pool and hot tub, with lifeguard present during regular hours (good for the kids). Weaknesses: 1. Noise - since this is in the heart of downtown Montreal, there was plenty of city noise like sirens, construction. Bring ear plugs. 2. Expensive parking ($28/day), although it was convenient with elevators going directly to underground parkade. Overall, a decent stay for our vacation! read more

Stayed her during winter, booked for 5 days. The design of the hotel looks really nice and clean compared to other hotels. The lobby was nicely designed, the hall ways were clean, the bed was comfy. But the hotel is poorly managed and is not as clean as you think. First day of our stay. The room temperature started at 26. Reasonable for winter time. But it didn't seem as warm as it said it was. We turned up the heat to max heat which was 32 degrees. We left the for dinner and came back. The room was still cold. Nothing warmer than before. We left it as is (32 degrees). Second day it was still freezing. The room was extremely cold. We informed the hotel about the problem. They did not offer us a new room. All they did was give us a heater and told us that the hotel regulates the heat at specific temperature even if you try to change it. It doesn't work. The water in the sink and shower is extremely hot. Its steaming even if it's on the coldest side. You would have to leave the water running for 10-15mins before it gets cooler. Called front desk and told them.They will make note of the problem and send someone up the next morning. No one came. We dealt with it because the water still worked but it took a really long time to cool. But this is extremely dangerous if you have small children. They are at risk of getting burnt by the sinks and showers. It burnt my hand let alone children. Not only that but there was also bugs. A bug fell on me. My boyfriend then caught it with a glass cup and paper. We called front desk and told them about the bug. They said they would send someone up to check on us. After half an hour, no one came. NO ONE! If it was something more serious, someone would've died and they wouldn't even know it. We decided fuck this. We packed out bags and went downstairs. Housekeeping said that it was an American cockroach. We have not been the US recently. We asked to talk to the manager but he was no longer there. All he can do is offer us a new room or we can check out. We decided to check out as there is too many problems. There was no paper work given but we were informed that the manger will contact us tomorrow. No one contacted us. We thought they just forgot, waited a couple more days, still nothing. We finally decided to file a complaint because we were charged for the three nights. We just feel like it's not fair as it a the hotels cleanliness problem and they still charged us for the 3rd night even though we left early. We weren't informed that if we leave they will charge us for three days. Obviously, if that's the case we would opt for room change. We wouldn't have had to pay for the hotel fees twice, COURTYARD and HYATT for the same day. We filed a complaint to Courtyard Marriott Montreal but had trouble reaching them. When the manager Alex finally responded. His response was completely insincere. He just creates his own story and doesn't even know the proper facts and tries to deflect blame, alter facts and responsibilities. He pretty much said that he's not going to do anything about it and there is nothing wrong with the hotel. He also stated that he was doing a favour by not charging us for remain days booked. Overall, there is everything wrong with this hotel. I'm just surprised about how a hotel by Marriott treats their customer. I always thought that hotels care about their hospitality but clearly this one does not. Avoid this hotel as much as possible. If you ever encounter a problem they don't care. I agree the hotel looks nice but there's many problems that exist within it. Save yourself some time and money ! They clearly don't care about the customers well being. read more

Despite my Platinum Elite status, I was treated like a peasant at Courtyard Montreal from the moment I arrived. You would think with longer stays (i.e. 3 nights) that were prepaid six months in advance, there would be a greater chance for them to get things right. WRONG. First Issue: Check-in was not available at 3pm, and we weren't told our room was ready till after 4pm. Second Issue: My room wasn't made feather-free, despite being explicitly requested in my profile. I didn't recognize this error till the next morning when I could hardly speak (I have a severe feather allergy). Upon bringing this up to the front desk, I was not given any apology or explanation for the mistake. Third Issue: I was never offered a complimentary market item for being Platinum Elite. I've stayed in a Marriott for 250+ nights over the last four years, and this is the first time I ever contacted Marriott following my stay with a complaint. The response I received was far from satisfactory. Three days after I submitted my grievance I received a boilerplate note that looked like it was generated from an automated system (see below): "Thank you for taking the time to contact guest services concerning your past reservation with us at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Montreal. Customer care has asked that we respond to you on their behalf. We do apologize for any inconvenience's that you may have experienced during your stay with us in regards to your special request and check in time. We hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with outstanding service and we would like you to know we have forwarded your comments to the departments involved and assure you that we will address all issues with the staff. Thank you for you loyalty with Marriott and choosing the Courtyard Marriott Montreal and we look forward to accommodating you on your next visit to Montreal! If there's anything else we can assist you with please feel free to contact us." Needless to say, I will not be staying at the Courtyard Montreal ever again. I have recently stay at this hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone. I have stayed at three different Courtyard by Marriott hotels during my recent vacation and by far, this was the absolute worst one. Upon entering, one particular staff member was very rude and came off as racist. I will refrain from using her name here as part of my review. She had helped me check in and gave off a very abrupt manner, as if she was annoyed with me already. The process of the check in took so long and I also realized in the end that she charged the wrong card! I was so mad when I saw the transaction and I had to pay a fee for it too. Then, my aunt and uncle was right next to me and needed to check in as well. She said, "You can check in over there, I need to take the next guest." What?!?! We're not guests? We are also paying for a room at your hotel. Which criteria did we miss to be your "guest"? I looked at the next guest, and he was a well-dressed suited looking gentlemen. I thought this staff member was super rude for shooting us away to another line. We were a different ethnicity than that gentlemen and we were still in our comfortable "just drove for hours" attire. My mom and I were pretty pissed about the situation and I was ready to bring it back to her attention but my uncle was so tired from driving, he told us to not waste more time. That's not all, one of my booked hotel room had two tiny blood stains on the blanket. Although, the staff the did come up to change the sheet rather quickly, there was absolutely no compensation to make it up to us. In my room, one of the amenity was opened from the package! I don't use what the hotel provides but I still find that to be absolutely disgusting. Highly disappointed with this experience as well. The room was super noisy by the early morning. This matter did not affect me as much since I needed to wake up early but just adding it here to my review for others to be aware of. I heard that the Montreal population was super laid back, friendly and welcoming. I did not find that to be true while staying here at Courtyard by Marriott Downtown. This place is not clean and tries very hard to be bougie. This bougie place is very convenient and in walking distance of most landmarks though. My daughter and I stayed here on a sight-seeing weekend, and I was impressed. This hotel is on the edge of downtown, and within walking distance to both the Orange line and Green on Montreal's Metro. The hotel is pretty new, so the rooms look up-to-date and the pool/fitness area were clean. The service we received from the front desk staff and the concierge staff was good. Our room did have a little bit of road noise, as it faced Boulevard Rene-Levesque, which can be quite busy in the afternoon and evening. Things quieted down near bed time, and we didn't lose any sleep. Still, the next time we stay there we will request a room facing the other side of the building. They have an indoor parking garage attached to the hotel (underground). The rates were comparable to everything else in downtown Montreal read more

Well located (especially if you have to complete an immigration physical and interview because it's across the street). The staff are really nice and the accommodations are what you would expect from Marriott. The bed was quite stiff, way too firm. The pillows just collapsed when you laid on them which caused neck pain every morning, even with the "firm" pillow. As a frequent traveller who is also a lifetime Gold Elite member with Marriott, I can state that the customer service at this hotel is the worst I have experienced and they treat loyal customers like garbage. Beware of some of the rooms int his hotel as well: my last stay I was put in a dark cave of a room where the noise from the street was so loud that I could barely sleep. I would also not recommend their breakfast in their hotel restaurant - I ordered pancakes that had a wonderful description but were inedible (dry, flavourless). The management at this hotel is also not good at all, in my opinion: I had to cancel a stay at this hotel and they kept my room cost and when I tried to reinstate my stay so that I would not lose money (I planned to sell my stay to a co-worker), they said they had already rented my room so they double-dipped and got paid twice for my room. The hotel room is new and the location is good. However some of the front desk staffs need more training. When I checked in, the hotel staff was rude. She first asked me to show the AAA card because I booked a AAA rate. I showed her my card, then she complained my fingers covered the name. I just handed her the card for her to verify the name. To be honest, I booked AAA rate through different Marriott hotels at least 100 times, not at once any other check in staff questioned me like a thief. I then asked her about the Marriott gold member benefit. Please note I didn't ask anything like room upgrade, breakfast, or lounge..etc. I understood it was a courtyard but not a Marriott. I was simply asking about a late check out which was listed in Marriott.com that was guaranteed for gold members in all Marriott chain hotels. She immediately replied not all Marriott hotels followed the member rules. I showed her the Marriott web site on my cell phone. She repeated again this hotel didn't follow Marriott rules. Even another staff next to her told her immediately she should not say in this way. Other than this particular person, all other hotel staffs seem friendly and helpful. read more

Hotel seems to be brand new and visually clean. Staff was very pleasant. In addition it's situated in Downtown Montreal. I drove from Brooklyn and didn't need my car at all once in Montreal. We walked everywhere. I needed a break from driving. The Metro and bus are within a short walking distance and easy to navigate. I used it to get to the Biodôme and a Food & Beer Tour. The metro ticket machine is NOT user friendly - EVEN in English and people behind ticket booth are just as useless as MTA employees. The hotel parking is $22 a day, which we thought we paid for as an add-on with our Travelocity package. Turns out, you can only pay the fee up front when you arrive at the hotel. Parking lot has limited signs of how to navigate when you want to exit. Dangerous if you have an emergency. (SAFETY TIP: Women traveling alone, park as close to hotel entry as possible within parking lot and always have car keys in your hand when retrieving your vehicle.) Hotel has a Starbucks bar, but staff is barely stationed there. You have to wait just about 10 minutes to be noticed. There's a school bell to ring to notify someone you're there but culturally as a black American I'm not ringing a bell to summon anyone. I just couldn't do it, so I waited and then left when a waiter passed me 4 times and then acknowledged me on his fifth pass. That was insulting. Back to visually clean. I say "visually" because the bathroom floor looked clean, but staff need to really bleach floors and scrub. Stop using same dirty mop water. I had to wipe up a water spill from the bathroom floor and the amount of dirt that came off the floor was scary. It looked like soot, so I wasn't walking barefoot after that incident! A great plus is that's in walking distance of shops and eateries and their beds are comfy. I was comatose as I slept. read more

My family and I stayed here for the long weekend during Labor Day. The exterior was beautiful and clean, well decorated. The front desk and lobby gentlemen were nice and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean, we had two queen size beds. The sheets were very clean and comfortable , the mattress very soft. The mini fridge wasn't working... Our bathroom didn't have a working fan which caused some serious humidity issues. The AC broke on the second night... Very hot and frustrating. At one point during the routine cleaning, they forgot to stock up the toilet paper-- we had to go chasing someone down about it! We informed them about the broken things and nothing was fixed. We were originally set to leave Monday but checked out a day early. They charged us for that day regardless and the parking was ridiculously overpriced. We called and spoke to management at how disappointed we were at the fact we were not attended to. They informed us the parking would be compensated and it was not. We were upset because we had high hopes and the location was prime. I think we were ripped off -- very frustrating. Something to consider if you plan to stay here -- your room might have broken things in it. read more

I had a reservation for this hotel earlier this morning (mind you that I am typing these lines from The Hyatt 1 block away!). When I arrived, I was told that my price rate was different than what my reservation stated. I was then given a new price rate which was even higher than the normal standard rate which I learned about after I checked in and looked on-line. One would think that the person helping me at the front desk (Anna) would have compared my "special rate" with the normal standard rate. I can understand how special rates at times be higher than the rate of the day, as these things fluctuate. However, the employee should have compared the two rates, and given me whichever was lower. In this case, the standard rate was lower and all discounted rates happened to be higher. When I went down to the front desk to ask to discuss this with the manager, I was told that he/she was "in a meeting". I asked Anna to ask for the manager to step out of the meeting, but Anna told me that she wasn't able to step out. If a manager is "too busy" to address a disappointed customer, than are they even doing their job? Needless to say that I immediately checked out of the hotel after making a new 5-day reservation at The Hyatt 1 block away. What I was disappointed with wasn't the new rate, rather it was the total lack of customer service. Shame on them. read more

I want to share my negative experience for readers with services at this hotel when I found a bedbug in my bed. Service at the hotel when faced with challenging situations is poor. 1. Bed bug was found in the bed. It was caught alive into a cup, and brought down to front desk. 2. I was transferred to another room. 3. Pest control was brought in to confirm that there were no more bedbugs in the room. 4. According to Marriott Policy, no compensation or support is offered outside of a room transfer. Dry Cleaning/Laundering services is offered at Guest's expense. 5. Nights 2 & 3 of the stay was spent in the laundry room cleaning as much clothes as possible. The lack of support and compassion by Marriott with assistance for this traumatic experience is disappointing. Despite presenting the bed bug to the hotel, I disliked the hotel's insinuation that they are immune to bed bugs because of their online cleanliness ratings. The hotel was only interested in protecting themselves (calling pest control is one to legally protect themselves, not the guest) and were likely told to never admit to bedbugs. It is unfortunate this hotel is not interested in helping their customers in challenging situations. read more

Upscale for a Courtyard. Rooms are oversized, clean and quiet. A spacious health center with hot tub, swimming and steam bath. Breakfast is not include as is in most Courtyards but that was mentioned at reservations. They are serious about security. If the location works for you it is a nice stay read more

Great location, brand new, clean rooms with nice amenities and an amazing bathroom with nice huge shower. Also, fairly affordable bar and restaurant that's above average for a hotel bar. What more could you ask for? Only knock would be my view from my room which was of a construction site, but not a huge deal. Other than that friendly staff, comfy beds, great price for my two night stay. Big ups for free water, free wifi and free coffee in rooms. Also very short walk from old port, expo center and rue st Catherine (bunch of bars and shops) read more

We have been very pleasantly surprised by this Courtyard by Marriott. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and helpful - especially Stephanie at the front desk. We got a spacious suite, and overall the accommodations were great. Little things like having access to laundry facilities and a microwave made a great difference. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking to almost all the major sights in Montreal. Merci beaucoup! read more

As many other reviews warned, service here is horrible. I ignored them, thinking "a Marriott can't be that bad".... but I was wrong. I stayed two nights while on a business trip and my room was not serviced after the first night. After the first evening, I was in my hotel room working until 1:30 PM with the do not disturb sign up. I left the room at 1:30p, took off the do not disturb sign, walked out of the room and passed a room service staff member cleaning a room just 3 doors down, and didn't return to my room until after 8 PM that evening. When I called the front desk asking why my room had not been serviced, she explained to me that the cleaning staff leaves at 6 PM. I guess a 4.5 hour window wasn't long enough for the staff to come by and check the room, know that it was not serviced, see that the do not disturb sign was gone, and service the room. VERY subpar service standards / process. I was assured that she would look into the matter and let me know the next day what had happened before I checked out. I was extremely disappointed that my room has not been serviced despite ample opportunity and time by your staff to do so. Usually Marriotts are good and things like this to be handled properly.... but not this one. The next morning when I checked out around 10:50 AM, the person I was checking out with did not follow up regarding what had happened last night. I brought it up to her, and she called the supervisor, Carl Henry. Carl was horrible. I explained to him the situation, which apparently he had no idea about, and his first response was to explain to me the hotel's operating procedure for cleaning rooms, that I should have called in to request my room to be serviced, and that a note should have been left under my door telling me so. I told him that no note was left under my door, that I have never had to call to ask for my room to be serviced at any other Marriott I've stayed at. He responded saying, "I have to check the facts with the hotel staff to see if a note was left under your door or not." He clearly did not believe me when I said that no note was left under the door, and he basically implied that I was lying to him. What an absolutely horrible response. No empathy, no apology, no focus on the customer. When I explain my frustration to Carl, and why I thought his response was poor, he proceeded to ignore me. Speaking to Carl only got me more frustrated and more angry. When Carl's boss Alex finally followed up with me a full 4 days later (the length of time it took was not surprising given the service here), he did nothing other than offer a paltry handful of Marriott points. Again, not surprising since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. In summary: while the downtown location is nice, the rooms are nothing spectacular, the prices are high, and the service here stinks. Don't expect a Marriott service experience when you come here. Stay away. There are other Marriott (and other) hotels in Montreal, which hopefully are better. read more

I am a loyal Marriott member and hold Platinum status. So it hurts to say, but STAY AWAY! Service is "meh", but what really stings is I was charged twice for my room, had documentation to prove it, and they still fought me on reimbursement. Love Marriott and Courtyard is usually a reliable stay, but this property hurts both brands. read more

I usually hate hotel beds because I feel crippled in the morning and restless from lack of sleep. I had a great sleep on this bed. The bathroom is spacious and clean. There is a Keurig for morning coffee. This hotel is just a couple blocks from St Catherine's street. Well done Marriott. read more
