We chose to pay for on-site parking, and I highly recommend it. Parking in Pacific Beach can be challenging, so having a guaranteed parking spot made our trip completely stress-free. We originally booked a partial ocean view room, but to our surprise, the front desk upgraded us to a full oceanfront room at no charge! They explained that they randomly select a few guests each day for complimentary perks such as room upgrades, free parking, or late checkout. We felt so lucky and truly appreciated the thoughtful gesture. The rooms have been beautifully renovated and are modern, clean, and very comfortable. The air conditioning worked great, the refrigerator was convenient, and everything felt fresh and well maintained. It's the perfect boutique beach hotel with an upscale feel while still being relaxed and comfortable. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It certainly doesn't help that the staff gives away parking spots to their friends while paying customers go without. Don't worry though, they'll call you on your third day to tell you that parking has miraculously opened up because they failed to sell out on their website. The room itself? Think "tiny house" but without the charm. It's so small that turning around feels like a game of Twister, and every surface seems to have been weaponized with sharp corners. A relaxing beach retreat shouldn't require a first-aid kit. Then there's the humidity...the kind that makes your clothes feel like they went swimming without you. The air inside the room is basically ocean soup, and everything smells faintly of wet flip-flops. Be prepared to wash every piece of your clothing, whether or not you wore it on vacation. The bathroom features a stylish sliding barn door, which is a great design choice if you've always wanted to share your most private moments with your travel companion. We walk across the street and enjoy the bay. I got here early, and housekeeping was kind enough to expedite a room for me.

Hotel notes: Check in is easy and thankfully they don't charge an additional fee for parking. The parking spots are SMALL, we had an SUV and were playing a fine line staying within the spots. All dog rooms are on the first floor. We had booked a single queen bed room, dog friendly. The bed was not a queen, MAYBE a full, maybe a little bigger than a twin mattress it was so small. Maybe if we were hobbit sized we would fit, but it was ridiculously small. The room is hot, the a/c did not feel like it fully kicked in until 4am. We were sweating in there. I honestly didn't even want to take pictures the place is so run down and I regret it. There is a dresser, small table and mirror cabinet. And a bathroom but size of a small closet. The toilet is so close to the sink, it's ridiculous. We could barely fit in it and the shower did NOT look clean. Near the Hotel: Across the street (unless the drummers cortège is there, they played until about 2am) there is a grassy area where dogs can relieve themselves, but if your dog is skittish AT ALL, it will be very hard to get them to go. There are multiple cafes, food spots and restaurants within a walking distance of the hotel. Very convenient. Beach notes: Beach is across the street but unless you are specifically at the dog beach be aware of the hours with pets. Summer (April 1 - October 31): Dogs are not allowed on the beach, boardwalk, or adjacent parks between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Allowed Hours: You may walk your dog on the regular beach only before 9:00 AM or after the evening cutoff (4:00 PM or 6:00 PM depending on the season), but they must be on a maximum 8-foot leash. More hotel notes: We booked two nights and canceled the second night the room was so uncomfortable. Thankfully they didn't charge us for not staying both nights and only for the one night. This was a birthday trip I was looking forward to for weeks, and HATED staying here so much. Save yourself the money and time and just book at a hotel a little bit away from the beach. They 100% Jack up the prices due to the location but just don't do it. It's not worth it.

I had a 2-night midweek stay because my work booked our annual department in-person workshop here. This hotel had a beautiful pool and outdoor seating area, it was so nice to lounge here in the spring sunshine. Lots of lush tropical plants all around to give more of that paradise vibe. They even had 2 macaws hanging around and a koi pond! It is a pretty small property, so never too far to walk around. This is also a concert venue, so some rooms face the stage area, which is pretty cool! The room looked renovated, there were new fixtures, but the carpet and some of the structure felt old. It was pretty spacious though. First floor rooms do get a small outdoor patio, which would be nice to enjoy coffee in the morning. My room ended up facing the parking lot, which wasn't so glamorous, lol. Shelter Island is a nice, safe place to walk around, super close to Liberty Station and Sunset Cliffs. Not too far of a drive from beaches and the airport. My company had our workshop in the harbor room, connected to the restaurant. It overlooked all of the boats parked in the bay, which was a pretty sight. The catering was good, not the worst but not the best. We got breakfast burritos (yummy), box lunch sandwiches (ran out of meat options), and bagels (just okay, turkey slices were the only protein source). My favorite meal was actually a lunch that was hosted in the restaurant, where I got a stuffed gnocchi dish with a slice of cheesecake at the end. Really delicious and SUPER filling! Overall, a beautiful work stay-cation in San Diego, I'd highly recommend for anyone visiting :)

I spent over $1,000 on Room 408, plus $200 for parking and another $460 at the hotel. I knew I was splurging for my family and expected a comfortable stay. Instead, it was a nightmare. I called ahead requesting early check-in due to a meeting and was told it sounded promising. We arrived at 1 PM, but the room wasn't ready until almost 4 PM. In extreme heat, my mom and toddler waited outside at a pool with almost no shade. When we finally got into Room 408, we loved it. But that night, the AC didn't work. We barely slept. The next day, water started pouring from the AC unit and vents, soaking the carpet. Maintenance blamed a nonexistent bathroom drain and left a towel on the floor. An hour later, water came from another vent. The room was unbearably hot. My kids, my mom, and I were sweating. We were moved to another room, which we were told was "the biggest room they had." We didn't need the biggest room--we needed working AC. The replacement room was outdated, had a ripped chair, crayon on the table, a rusty bathtub with no stopper, and terrible soundproofing. We got no sleep again. To recap: Over $1,000 for the room $200 parking $460 spent at the hotel Hours waiting in extreme heat Broken AC and water leaking from vents A stressful room move with two children A damaged, noisy replacement room When we called about a communication issue with maintenance, the front desk responded to my mother with "GEEZ!" as if we were the problem. After all of this, the resolution offered was a $50 credit. I worked for Marriott for six years. I understand issues happen. What I don't understand is the complete lack of meaningful hospitality recovery after a stay was ruined. I saved for this trip. I wanted memories with my boys and my mom. Instead, we left exhausted and disappointed. A $50 credit does not match this experience. Management: do you truly believe this was an appropriate resolution? I will never stay here again. I hope future guests think carefully before spending their hard-earned money here. Now days later, I'm getting double charged by them. As if ( as a single mother) I wasn't already negatively affected enough.

It's right off the 5 freeway in Little Italy and walking distance to many places which is convenient. But also, it's right off the freeway so you do get some noise from the street as well as airplanes. The hotel has a modern aesthetic inside which I liked. There is a restaurant within the hotel that many people seemed to take advantage of. They also have a pool and gym, but we didn't have time to use them. We were in a two queen room on the 15th floor. It was pretty basic but had a nice partial view of the bay. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. They have self parking available for $45, but since we arrived on a Sunday we were able to take advantage of free metered parking on the street and just paid for a few hours Monday morning. It's a good hotel if you want to be close to downtown without being smack dab in the middle of all the crazy.

The renovation here from an independently owned boutique hotel to a Courtyard by Marriott was unexpected, but the results are quite nice. The rooms are very nicely appointed and seem a notch above many Courtyard hotels. We had a very spacious balconette with a sweeping view of the neighborhood, airport, and...unfortunately...the freeway. We didn't mind that we could see the freeway; it's the noise that was a serious problem. The windows are not thick enough to suppress much of the noise, so we found it nearly impossible to sleep. Regrettably, the hotel was unable to move us to a different room, so we were stuck with it. The do provide an ambient noise machine in the room, but the frequency of it drove my wife's hearing batty, so I had to turn it off and rely on keeping the A/C fan running all the time, though it was insufficient to block the noise well enough. And as for that airport, don't worry about noise from that, but from our balconette, the view includes the entire runway, so this room and others here would be excellent for those who like to watch aircraft come and go. The only other real complaint we had was that the water pressure at the bathroom sink was super low. The shower pressure, however, was fine. And the sink (no double sink), toilet, and shower are all in one room, so don't plan on multiple people being able to easily get ready in the morning simultaneously. All that said, there is much to love about this hotel, especially if you can get a room on the other side of the building, away from the freeway. (I can't vouch for the noise level there, but it has to be better than the side we were on.) The lobby area is much more spacious than I expected. In addition to a bar area where they do serve food at certain times of day, they have a great location where you can grab a semi-private seating area with a TV. We used this space when we had some time to kill after checkout before we needed to go to the airport. And you obviously can't beat the hotel's location if you love Little Italy. We were there on a Saturday, and the hotel literally sits on one end of the street where the Little Italy Farmers' Market takes place. Basically walk out the door and stroll through the farmers' market until you reach the main drag of Little Italy along India Street. Great coffee is very nearby at two or three different coffeehouses and eateries, and more just a little further from that. Overall, I recommend this hotel, which can sometimes have a decent price point considering its location, assuming you can deal with the noise or get a room as far away from that side of the building as possible.

(People staying in the future make sure that you approve the dates on your form before you sign it) We had been driving for hours coming from Denver! I wanted to get in my room and relax. I didn't review the dates at the top because I had already reviewed it on Expedia right before we arrived when I got the address. I reviewed your pet policy, parking and the smoking policy. I was even given a parking pass with the correct checkout date on it. I still have that and also have a photo of it I can attach for further proof. My assumption is that when your person moved us from the room they assigned us on the second floor to the first floor when we checked in that it auto reduced us to 2 days because you probably only had that room available for two days. I assume YOUR STAFF didn't catch it when he moved us. I'm being gracious by making that assumption. However, no one from your management staff made any attempt to make this situation right. It ruined our only free day to do something unemotional and stress-free. "Courteously" having random people rifle through and move my belongings that I didn't want people rifling through was not helping! An apology and an actual reach out would have gone a million miles longer than your defensive response! Original post: Booked a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen for 3 nights. But in the middle of our only full day that we had to enjoy time, we were called and told that we needed to get our stuff out immediately when we were 40 minutes away at the zoo. Their hotel system showed only 2 nights. Even though I sent them the proof from Expedia of my reservation. Then said they would go move our stuff for us to another room or we needed to come move immediately. We had no option. We had to allow strangers to go through our stuff. They put us on the second floor even though I'm in a Mobility device. They literally packed all of our stuff in random bags and carried it upstairs. They put us in a room with two bedrooms that had queen beds, smaller than the ones that we were previously in. Creaky and loud. I also paid for a two-room suite with a full kitchen. This had no kitchen, just a mini fridge and a microwave. The living room is also half the size of the original room. The beds were squeaky. No bedding for the fold out bed. The bathroom had no water pressure and a screw sticking out of the drain. Several toiletries missing. I spent 3 of our 5 hours at the zoo (almost $80 a person to get in) dealing with the hotel and Expedia. It completely ruined our day. Then they charged me more for the lesser room than the suite. Zero customer service. Zero responsibility for messing up our trip. They had a wedding and obviously messed up their room assignments. So, they screwed us over instead. We were there to memorialize my niece who passed away. They ruined our only relaxing day we had. Be aware that they book people and accept money from 3rd party sites but do not honor those agreements. Attaching my receipts so they cannot say I'm lying! Up until that point we would have given a good review this place. However, when your out of your norm and something like this happens you expect help and service. They had zero care for the stress and pain they caused.
