I initially was super impressed with this hotel. I was spending the day at the Spa up the street and it was a choice between here and Comfort Inn across the street. The social distancing and cleanliness of the lobby is good. The worker let me borrow a hotel towel because I left my at home. I spent the day at the Spa and returned about 10pm. Upon return I could hear music playing fairly loudly but let it rock out until midnight. At midnight I figured that the music would shut off or get turned down. It didn't so I called the front desk and the night attendant told me someone would take care of it. They didn't. I called back around 12:50, no answer(on purpose I feel). The music finally turned off at 1:35am. Not that great if you have to get up early in a few hours. This turned the tide on my stay and made me a very dissatisfied customer. That and the hair in the shower as well as the hair stuck to the complimentary bottle of shampoo. If you like the floor of your hotel to sound like they're having their Holiday party at 1am then this is the hotel for you. Found this hotel after fleeing a dump in Times Square after a only night and morning in the ER. Was treated with such kindness by the lady at the front desk. Once again I did not get her name but she looked indian and she was beyond kind. I had to call her several times to make sure she was still holding room, since I kept being told we were being released only to have to wait longer. Anyway after several calls she would pick up and say "Yes Miss LeVine, how could I help you" Too funny. Well when we got there she answered all my questions and i could not of asked for a nicer, more informative, easy going, caring individual. Thanks so much. A guest of this hotel right now and their is a party in the room next door to me and the staff refuses to call them or send security to ask them to break it up. Their only option is that I pack my whole room up and move. This is absolutely absurd and horrible service. Best hotel I have stayed at and it is all because of the people. Extremely kind, welcoming staff who were very helpful and accommodating to all requests. I came for vacation with my family from California and the minute we walked through the door, Analexa welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Her, along with the entire staff, were extremely knowledgeable about the area giving great recommendations and assisting us in determining the best means of transportation (shuttle, ferry, bus, light rail, etc.) for each of the activities we had planned on our itinerary. I cannot say enough about the staff! They truly went above and beyond all expectations and made our experience one that I will never forget. I would highly recommend staying here! The rooms are clean and spacious and they come equipped with a small fridge and microwave. The hotel has a nice fitness center, an indoor pool, a starbucks and a contemporary lobby bar on site as well. The hotel offers some great complimentary guest services, including a shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles of the premises for FREE if you are a guest. My family and I stayed here during the holidays and they even had a complimentary gift wrapping station with holiday wrapping paper, scissors, tape/stickers, pens and gift bows that guests could use, again for FREE, to wrap their holiday gifts. Such a nice surprise! The hotel is very modern/renovated and you can tell the facilities and maintenance team does a great job on the upkeep. The hotel is in a great location if you want to visit NYC. It's one complimentary shuttle ride to the Ferry and a 10 minute Ferry ride (with a great view of the city) to get to Manhattan. You can also take a 20 minute bus ride to Manhattan which picks up and drops off right in front of the hotel. The Ferries and buses run late into the night which was very convenient. It's a great way to explore and see the city, and return to a quaint, homey location in the evening to relax and recharge your batteries. You can also walk a block from the hotel to a nice path on the edge of the Hudson River to get some incredible views of NYC - at night the views are even more spectacular! There is also a shopping center and a good selection of restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance of the hotel. All in all, AMAZING people, well-kept facility with clean/spacious rooms in a great location. If you plan on visiting the Big Apple, this is where you should stay! You will be thankful you did. Family and I stayed for a couple nites over Easter weekend. Very nice hotel and friendly staff. We had a room with two queen beds and it was quite spacious (much better than the closet rooms inside Manhattan). The trip back and forth to Manhattan was short and convenient, ferry or car. Very conveniently located near shops/stores should various needs arises. The view of Manhattan is obstructed by condo units but very easily accessible by taking a short 5 minute walk to the pier. I would definitely stay here again in the future when visiting NYC. read more

As a Bonvoy member, I've stayed at enough Marriott properties to say that this was the worst hotel I've ever experienced (Marriott or otherwise). The staff is rude, the hotel is loud (and the staff doesn't care if other guests are making noise in the early hours of the morning to the point that you can't get sleep). Parking is in a separate building from the hotel, unless you want to up-charge for premium parking. When I was staying there, they had "lost" their luggage cart. Instead of borrowing an extra one from another Marriott property, they had put up a "lost cart" sign that I'm sure someone thought was cute, but it just seemed lazy. The fire alarm in the room next door to mine went off in the middle of the night one night. It took half an hour before someone showed up at the front desk to resolve things (he had clearly been engaging in... extracurricular activities... while on the clock and had to take the time to get re-dressed). Absolutely abysmal on all counts. The best part of my stay was checking out a day early. read more

I wish I had read the reviews prior to staying here. I reserved this hotel for the location. The property is okay and my room was okay. The staff is incompetent. Particularly the Controller - I wish I could post his name on this website. I checked in with my Discover Card and I changed payment to the Amex Card prior to checking out of the hotel. The hotel staff member charged both cards the full amount for the stay. I thought this should be an easy fix since I had proof of payment (I had the receipt from the hotel). I provided that by email to the Controller to show that they charged both cards since he claimed he could only see the charge on the Discover Card and could not find the Amex Card in their system. Even after providing the receipt from the hotel with the charge to the Amex Card the Controller states he has to "do more research because he doesn't see payment for the Amex card" and he refuses to refund my Discover card. I contacted Marriott Rewards because I am a member and they saw where the payment method was changed (they literally saw both credit cards), yet the hotel property states they do not. This has been stressful because what should have been a simple transaction is now causing me to dispute the charge with my credit card company (something that should not have to be done when I have provided proof of payment). Unfortunately I have experienced something similar at the LAX property but that one was resolved quickly, although still a hassle because staff is poorly trained (I am beginning to think this is not a "mistake" with Marriott. This experience has made me decide to forego the Marriott Rewards program because the perks are not worth the headache of dealing with incompetent staff. I was a Night Auditor for a national chain that competes with Marriott so I know from first-hand experience changing forms of payment is not difficult if you have more than 2 brain cells. read more

School vacation trip to NYC with the wife and two children, 6 and 8. Hotel is very clean and the breakfast is a little pricey but tasty. The reason for my review and score began the night we checked in. We drove in from Massachusetts and called along the way to let the hotel know that we would be checking in late, but wanted to make sure they knew we were still coming. Arrived about 10pm and checked in at the front desk. At that time the woman checking is in informed us that we had been "upgraded". We were surprised but thanked her and went to our room. Our "upgrade" meant that instead of giving us two queen size beds, they gave us one king and a tiny pull out couch that I'm not convinced was actually a twin sized bed. We also were unable to locate any pillows, blankets or sheets for the pull out. I then went to the front desk and told them that the room was not acceptable as the pull out was not big enough for my two children to sleep in together comfortably or for me or my wife to sleep solo. Surprise, surprise, they were fully booked and did not have any other rooms. I relayed my sneaking suspicion that they had given away the room we had booked a reservation for over 2 months ago. The clerk stated that was not the case, they were overbooked and had to move people around to accommodate everyone. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said there was no one else on duty besides her and that a manager would not be in until 11am. I asked that she notify the manager of the situation and have the manager call the number attached to the reservation as we planned to be in the city first thing in the morning. I then asked for the blankets and sheets for the pull out we were being forced to use. She said that someone would be up right away to make up the bed. I returned to the room and informed my wife of the updated situation. Given the level of service we had already received, I started a stop watch timer to see how long it was going to take for us to actually get the necessary blankets in order to have the kids get some sleep. After waiting for 25 minutes, my wife went back down to the front desk(they weren't answering the phone) and again requested the sheets and blankets we needed. A few minutes after she came back someone arrived at our door with the items, but instead of making up the bed, handed us the sheets and blankets and left. Finally got the kids in bed and asleep at some time around midnight, which of course made it all but impossible for us to make the 815am ferry like we had originally planned. Since we did not receive a call, when we stopped for lunch I called the hotel and asked to speak to the manager. The assistant general manager stated that none of the issues had been communicated to her and that the clerk was incorrect when she stated that our room change was an "upgrade". She also used all the correct terminology calling it unacceptable that we did not have the needed items to make up the bed, had to wait/go back down to get them and then had to make the bed ourselves. I informed her that we just wanted to have the two queen size beds that we had booked in February. She stated that "the system has overbooked us and we do not have any other rooms available at this time". I asked her how that is possible since we had a reservation and confirmation made well in advance of our arrival. She didn't have any answer, just kept telling me that the system overbooked them sometimes. I then asked her what the point of making a reservation with them was when they clearly did not hold up their end of the deal. She began asking me what I wanted from them to make it better, starting with comping us breakfast for the following morning. I told her that I wanted the room I paid for and that it was ridiculous that they had not only changed our room for the first night but were now forcing us to stay another night in the same situation. I also contacted the 800 number for Marriott customer service as I was getting nowhere with the management staff on site. I spoke to a very courteous and professional operator named David there who opened an incident for us and offered us 5,000 membership points. I asked him what the points were for and he said that because we were an "elite member" we accumulated points and they could be used for free rooms, etc. I pointed out that I was unlikely to ever book with again at this point as they did not seem to understand what a reservation meant. He informed me that he had opened the incident and it would be forwarded to the general manager to be addressed. I am now sitting here getting ready to check out and have yet to be contacted by anyone. Very disappointing and would not recommend booking unless you want to be "upgraded" against your will. read more

This was always our go to place, but then we never had a problem. Today we had one and their response was atrocious. It was a clogged toilet in the middle of the day. Over an hour for a guy with a plunger and that was after three calls to the front desk who's responsive was the standard "5 minutes away" . It was only while on the phone to the manager did he magically appear. Everyone was sorry and polite, I'm sure they all had reasons, which does little good when your using the potty in the lobby. So unless you bring your own plunger try staying somewhere else. read more

I was flying into NYC with the plan to stay in the city and travel by car to New Jersey for a bridal appointment but after having to cancel with my hotel in the city due to the COVID restrictions I decided to book here and let me say it did not disappoint. The customer service was great and the hotel itself is very clean. The location was also very convenient with plenty of restaurants to go to. It's also a 15 minute drive to New York City which was also really nice. I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to New Jersey! read more

Did some one say customer service???!!! Not here at the Edgewater Marriott. Greet with a smile, no way, I was scared from the stare and look when checking in, it was freighting. The Asst Manager is the worst of them probably rubbing off on rest of staff. Not friendly, mean, don't think any of them wanted to be there. They need training and replacements. Travel to Marriotts around the world twice a month and by far the worst front desk crew. Not a good representation. Stayed two 6 days ago for four days. Worst hotel! Unfortunately we had to stay two nights since we already booked ! Bad construction just starting all around hotel. It'll have you up by 630 AM!!! Not to mention the hotel manager threatened us with a 250$ fine AFTER 10 MINUTES of checking in!! She accused us of smoking in hotel room! (Which we did smoke prior to going into hotel)She said fire panel had went off in our room after we checked in 10 mins prior! Most uncomfortable experience in a hotel setting! Another bad experience involving the Courtyard at Marriott in Edgewater New Jersey. Would have had an awesome weekend with nothing negative to say, if the front desk employees of the hotel had not let someone charge a room to my fiance's stolen credit card. I can't imagine how the hotel staff could have made the mistake, because we had just stayed there the night before. We had several conversations with the front desk attendees. So when this person walked in and booked a room on my fiance's credit card, something should have prompted them to ask for ID. They accepted the card and charged the room fees for two nights on it. There is no security plan in place to avoid this from happening? Needless to say... We will never stay there again. read more

Really loved this hotel! Stayed there and went into the city and I'll definitely be taking this route from now on. The shuttle will take you to the ferry that takes 5 minutes to get to Midtown. Free parking is a huge plus. Hotel was clean and beautiful and beds were very comfy. In my opinion, stay here in a much better hotel and pay much less than staying in a sub par hotel in the city for an arm and a leg. Also the last ferry goes back to New Jersey at 1:10 am! read more

Our overnight stay was wonderful from parking to a restful sleep. Adadina and Thais were friendly and helpful at the front desk. You can park in the hotel's lot for $15/day with in/out privileges. We were able to park even before check-in. We grabbed a bus across the street from the hotel into Times Square - $3.50 cash per person. With bus lanes, our ride was fast and stress-free. Dinner across the street at Lolita's was great. Our room had two large flat screens and plenty of outlets to charge our electronics. The a/c worked well The bathrooms large and clean. The window shades worked great to keep out the sunlight so we could sleep in after a long drive from Maryland and a fun day in NYC. There's a breakfast buffet for about $20 and a Starbuck's. We were on our way to a family gathering in the City so didn't have time. My daughter had an authentic bagel craving and the front desk directed us to Mr. Bagelsworth just down the road. It was a great suggestion. Edgewater is a lovely city and the Edgewater just as lovely. By the way, about 75 yards from the back of the hotel is the river and a great view. There's also a walking trail. read more

This hotel definitely has the newly-opened feel. It's clean, has a bold look, is decent sized, with decent customer service. The receptionist was helpful, during check-in and anytime we called for any questions. The room was spacious, and included a small fridge and microwave. I would say the cleanliness and spacious rooms were the biggest pros for this place. They also offered a free shuttle service from/to anywhere within 3 miles. The service was great and the drivers we had on the weekdays were friendly and nice. However, there was one driver for the Shuttle service on Sunday (day-time) who was impatient, a little rude and not very helpful. The hotel doesn't offer complimentary breakfast, which is a con specially given that this hotel's booking prices usually compare to the Homewood Suites close-by which does include this great perk. They do, however, give the option of breakfast for $17 charge and do have a bistro (for a price) in the hotel for lunch/dinner. They also have a self-serve mini store with essentials (for purchase) which can be accessed 24/7. And of course, with any hotel in today's day and age, they offer free wi-fi. There is no view of NYC from this hotel (blocked by buildings). And there is ongoing construction around. You can walk to a few places from here - like Five Guys, Dunkin, and a few others. Overall, this hotel is peaceful, clean and spacious. But with no complimentary breakfast , no view of NYC skyline, and the impatient customer service provided by that one shuttle driver (last Sunday day-time. Weekday drivers were great), I think it would be fair to remove 2 stars, making it a 3 star experience overall. read more

Brand new Courtyard by Marriott right behind the Edgewater town hall. GPS can be misleading, since the new road/address doesn't exist in many. They all have the police station loaded, just use that. Being new, everything is obviously in great shape. This Courtyard has a full bar and breakfast bar in separate locations, not combined, like most Courtyards. The fitness center is also probably twice as large and better equipped, than other Courtyards. As a warning, there is still other construction going on both in front of and behind the hotel. If you're long gone by 7am, like me, then it's a non issue. If you want to sleep in, it could be. The staff has been extremely friendly and accommodating on my several stays. read more

The parking at this hotel is very bad. There is no where to park for checking in, so you have to go into the garage. I called the front desk from the gate in the garage so they could open it and no one ever answered. So I had to park on the street in the rain and check in. Once checked-in I noticed that my sheets were dirty. I called the front lobby for new sheets and after 2 hours I had to get dressed and go downstairs and get the sheets myself. The bad...parking on 3 floor, not on same floor as hotel entrance. phone does not work in the room, internet weak, tv program drops For no reason, hair dryer missing. Also with covid rates being so cheap, the hotel attracts lots of questionable characters. Our first room was on the fourth floor when we walked out of the elevator, there was such strong pot odor on the floor that we never made it to our room and requested a different floor. In second floor, the room above us was very loud that there was constant furniture movement, heavy footsteps across the room. Sounded like they were pacing back and forth the room and doing exercise in the room even though the gym was open 24/7. Also the second floor room was next to a major road and you could hear traffic, esp when the first responders had a street parade Sat night when fireand ambulance sirens accompanied the xmas themed heavily decorated fire trucks. My suggestion to staying in the hotel... bring ear plugs. This is our first time staying in the hotel. Just flew into NYC and this place is amazing. Adorable town with many great dining options and city views within walking distance from the hotel. There is a pedestrian mall next door with all kinds of restaurants and shops. Hotel gave us a list of local favorites and was extremely helpful and upbeat. Hotel does not cater to business travelers. Hotel caters to high school students and tour groups. I had to call hotel security 4 times on 4/16/19 for group of high schools who for three hours jumped up and down to make noise (sounded like train), slammed doors, and screamed in the three rooms on my floor and two rooms above. Sound was similar to bass speaker in the rooms above me. This went on for hours. Was given the option of room downgrade to be moved for the remainder of my 3 night stay. Only after did state I was calling the police on the hs students and night manager, did the noise cease. Ended up 4 hours of sleep before my meetings next day. I opted for this hotel due to easy access to midtown NYC via the Port Imperial or Edgewater ferry stations. The hotel provides shuttle service to the ferry. I've stayed here in the past and always loved it for the bar and Starbucks amenities plus the rooms tend to be lovely, but after my last experience I won't return. A lot of guests walk around without masks despite the mandate. Those that work here see this and pretend not to. What's even more upsetting is this was NOT my worst complaint. Last week, I received a phone call on the hotel phone from a man (either another guest or someone that works at the hotel) claiming front desk needed my card information because there was an issue with incidentals and they were not accounted for. When I asked who he was he claimed he was the regional manager and was making this call to everyone impacted. I was VERY confused. He said he would come to my suite's door and pass along a paper underneath the door to confirm this. He repeatedly asked for my debit card # via phone call. I said no and hung up. I informed front desk, who was quite flippant and told me there was nothing they could do, but they'd send up security if needed and then suggested I unplug my phone and hung up, to which I also hung up very discouraged. This man called again not even 10 minutes later, threatening to come upstairs and get the card information or have me thrown out of the hotel, to which I told him I had spoken to front desk and they said this was not true. They didn't even have a "regional manager"! He said he was the general manager (notice the change of title!) and would inform front desk of my lack of cooperation. I called front desk again and they said they had no way of finding out who did this and apologized without care, then hung up. THAT is your answer to this? They acted as if it was a normal occurrence. This man did not call back but I didn't feel safe and actually ended up moving to another Marriott in the area. read more

Mac was absolutely phenomenal. 19 years NYC hospitality experience in various sectors of the business hired as a consultant; own and operate a private Elite concierge company. Which works with the Saudi Arabian family. Working on an establishment in Miami/NY brand. I am not easily impressed and was extremely impressed by his patience, his mannerisms, his overall experience. He should be in the managerial role for the entire hotel Marriott brand bc no one else at the establishment knows how to operate the facility. He is once again eXtremely impressive. I would love to hire him for one of our establishments. Sean, was a complete nightmare. He lied, and fabricated. He than locked me out of my room out of spite and upon speaking to other long term guests they also said "he's nasty, rude and they do not deal with him they wait for the next shift" I never ever make complaints however, for him to speak to a guest the way he did was completely outrageous & I've contacted the head of Marriott division. Funny enough my dear friends boss is who owns the land of where this establishment leases from :). So his laughing and low class spiteful demeanor will only keep him from ever working in any high end venue in NY since I'm affiliated with ALL. He is clearly racist. And clearly needs therapy rather than anything else. I feel bad for sad souls like that, they are clearly broken. Marriot head quaters has heard from me with a major complaint. Tonight I called at 9:04pm and it's 11:52 still waiting for toilettes, lol. Called and in 10 mins Mac sends up towels. Again efficient and just impressive!!!! So many spiteful things have occurred, documented and can hold the company liable. Do yourselves a favor. Put the ONE staff member you do have and knows what he's doing to run this place (MAC). No one else knows what they're doing. Clearly even the owners don't. You need a consultant to come in. Or like I said. Hire the man and pay him what he's worth. Before I take him from underneath you. This is the worst Marriot Hotel I've ever stayed! This is very disappointing! I couldn't even sleep till 5 am in the morning because of music and SEX sounds coming from upstairs! And I have to woke up at 8 am same day! I called lobby 2 times about voices but they said they couldn't find the voices?! I went to lobby and security went upstairs but they didn't reach me out again. I guess it's because your security was high enough you can SMELL the WEED strongly! We did not know that people can smoke WEED in hotel while working. MRS JENNY who work at lobby did not even look my face and did not try to solve my problem and she just tried to get rid of me. Beautiful hotel! Rooms are spacious. They offer breakfast for a cost, and drinks are available for purchase at the bar. If you rather not eat at the hotel, there are a lot of places to eat nearby. Definitely would recommend. read more
